I had been curious about the horseback riding experience at Kualoa Ranch for a long time. It was great to have such a unique experience in nature.

It was my first time riding a horse, and I was scared, but I managed to get on. It was a bit tough since I had to put some strength into my legs. (I did end up with sore muscles the next day, haha.)

I'm not sure if there are several courses, but on this day, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't see the Jurassic Park signs or bones, but I still had a lot of fun. If I could have spoken English, I might have been able to ask about it...

The path we walked was quite narrow, which was a bit nerve-wracking, but it was also fun. We enjoyed views of the ocean, walked along narrow paths, and passed right next to a herd of cows.

Since you can't carry any bags while riding, I put everything in a locker. I only took my smartphone, secured it with a strap to my belt, and kept it in a pocket where I could easily access it, but you have to hold the reins with both hands to avoid dropping it, so it's at your own risk. If you want to take photos, it's best to attach a strap to your smartphone or something similar to ensure it doesn't fall. Your own safety comes first.

The instructor kindly took some photos for us, which was nice.

荷物は持って乗れないので全てロッカーに入れました。スマートフォンだけベルトにストラップを固定して、すぐ取り出せるポケットに入れて持っていきましたが、綱を両手で持っていないと落ちるので自己責任。
写真を撮りたい方は、スマートフォンなどにストラップを付けて、絶対に落ちないようにした方がいいです。自分が落ちないのが最優先ですが。

インストラクターの方がご好意で写真を撮ってくれていたので良かったです。

長ズボンが良いです。馬が勢いよくもよおすので、汚れます笑 汚れてもいい服装がベストです。

可愛いお土産も買えて満足でした。軽食もありますが、ワイキキとかに帰ってからの方が美味しいかも？

本当はバギー体験もしたかったですが、この日は無く。空いた時間は園内にいる動物を見たりしていました。
次は是非バギーも体験したいです。

The hotel pickup location was ready earlier than the scheduled time. After checking IDs, we boarded the bus (it was a large bus that day) and headed to Kualoa. At this point, Japanese guests can receive their tickets from Japanese staff, who provide explanations about the facilities in Japanese, so there’s no problem for those who don’t speak English at all.

The tickets indicate the start time of the activities and the return bus schedule. For those riding horses, since you can't bring luggage, you can store your belongings in a locker for $5, which you can access in and out. They lend you a pouch that can be attached to the saddle, so you can bring water or a camera.

Before the activities, we watched an explanatory video (they ask what language you prefer), and they help you choose a horse that seems compatible with you, and then it’s time to ride. ジュラシックパークの撮影場所は通過するだけで、停まったり写真タイム等はありません。他のバギーや自転車で周るツアーは降りて写真撮影自由にしていました。

2時間乗馬が終わったら、40分ぐらい時間があります。お土産屋を見たり食事をしたり出来ます。
乗馬して直ぐにカメラマンの方に写真を一人一人撮ってくれますが、その写真は1枚$20でお土産屋の入口で買えます。

帰りのバスは行き先毎に異なりますが、列に並んで名前を確認されてバスに乗り込みます。

かなり無駄無くテキパキと動けるので良いなと思いました。
森の中を乗馬で歩きますが、日当たりがいい開けた場所も行くので、日焼け対策は大事だと思います。また、水はもらう事は出来ず売店でも500が1本$3.5ぐらいしていたので、持参が良いです。

トイレも綺麗で、仮設トイレっぽいトイレも中は日本と違って広く、臭く無く、綺麗です。

今回私は脚が悪い母と乗馬しましたが、スタッフの方が、その人に合う馬を選んでくれ、何より賢
い馬ばかりなので、少し心配でしたが、全く大丈夫でした。。。ただ2時間も馬に乗るので、お尻は痛いです。笑

● The scenery used in Jurassic Park. Specifically, there are vast grasslands with steep cliffs visible in the distance.
● Then, we crossed the forest and viewed Diamond Head from the top of a hill.
● This might be seasonal, but on the way back through the forest, the guide shared edible fruits and plants, keeping things interesting.

First of all, it was great that a Japanese staff member assisted us upon arrival, making everything easy to understand. After that, it was all in English, but we managed somehow despite the language barrier. Riding the four-wheeled buggy was a thrilling and exciting experience, like an attraction at a theme park! The instructions mentioned that long pants were required, but in reality, most people were wearing shorts. Anyway, the dust was incredible, so our clothes got dirty. We spent two hours enjoying beautiful scenery and navigating bumpy roads while having a blast, and I was very satisfied!

We had the best time on our jungle tour . Our tour guide was outstanding . Funny, informative and we were captivated from the moment we sat in the seats and took off , until we returned back to where we started. It was the highlight of our tour experience. I would give this tour an outstanding rating!
Unfortunately the next tour was a huge disappointment, the movie tour.
While it was interesting seeing the cardboard signs where all the movies took place, there were little if no remaining evidences that any movie ever were filmed there. That was my mistake as the driver explained that all props must be removed.
Our driver mentioned immediately that he had “ deadpan humor” which sorely missed the mark. While he was knowledgeable and his information was interesting, his style of presentation was filled with unnecessary repetitive words “Also here within here collectively also here “ . My suggestion would be to work on simplifying the dialogue to keep the.audience engaged. Sadly, we decided to leave after the tour missing the last tour we had paid for.

For those participating in this tour:

1. As you will get covered in sand, it's recommended to wear all black clothes or clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
2. Using a locker is not mandatory for this tour, but it's definitely better to use one. (The locker fee is $5, payable in cash or credit. You can access it multiple times!) Your belongings will also get sandy. I think it's fine to have just one phone among your group!
3. Since you'll be covered in sand, your face will also be quite dirty, so it would be great to have a makeup pouch (makeup remover wipes would be ideal).

You might not find another place where you can experience driving through nature like at Kualoa Ranch. The thrill of speeding was really enjoyable. However, it gets dustier than expected, so it's better to bring a change of clothes and goggles or sunglasses to have an even better time.

I've been to Hawaii eight times, but this is my first time at Kualoa Ranch! Since I was here, I chose to ride a buggy through the great outdoors. At first, there’s an orientation with other tour guests, but I couldn't understand anything they were saying at all. It seems they were just telling us to gather at each location when the time comes. The meeting point for the buggies is a bit further in and hard to find. We follow a few tour vehicles behind the instructor. Driving the buggy is definitely fun, but those riding along can enjoy it too. We stop at several movie filming locations to take pictures. However, I have no idea what they are explaining (crying). We participated as a family (father, mother, a high school sophomore son, and a junior high school daughter). My daughter hadn't ridden a bicycle in a long time, so she was anxious and initially said she didn't want to ride, canceling her reservation. However, just before the event, she decided she wanted to participate after all and made a new reservation. I felt a bit sorry about the changes, but I really appreciate how smoothly VELTRA handled the cancellations and changes in the number of participants!

On the day of the event, there was some traffic on the highway, so we arrived slightly late, but the schedule had enough buffer time before the activity started, so it was fine.

The activity involved our family of four along with two couples, making a total of eight participants, with one instructor guiding us all as we rode around the ranch. At the beginning, we watched a safety video, chose our bicycles, and practiced a bit before setting off.

My daughter was right at the height limit, so she couldn't quite reach the ground while seated and looked anxious, but she seemed to get the hang of it after a while. I think if you're around 155 cm tall, you should be able to reach the ground comfortably. Additionally, one of the younger female participants seemed a bit scared of the speed at times and struggled to keep up, but the instructor rode slowly to help her, and she managed to complete a lap. 開始時には安全確認のための映像を見て、各自自転車を選び、少し練習をしてから出発です。

娘は身長制限ギリギリだったので座った状態ではぴったり足がつかず不安そうでしたが慣れると大丈夫そうでした。
155cmくらい身長があると足がつくイメージかと思います。
また、同行メンバーの若い女性の方は途中スピードが怖かったのか、なかなか流れについて来れない場面もありましたがインストラクターの方がゆっくり走ってくれたり、どうにか1周していました。舗装されていない坂道を走ったりするので自転車に抵抗のある方にとっては少し怖いのかもしれません。

とにかく景色のいいところを颯爽と駆け抜けていくのがとても気持ちよくて、施設の方もみんな親切で（日本語は通じません）、最高のアクティビティでした◎家族、カップル、ひとりでも楽しめると思います！

It takes about 45 minutes by large bus from the hotel in Waikiki to the site. The buggy start time is set, so we have free time until then. Other activities are fully booked, so while there are opportunities to interact with horses, go shopping, and have light snacks, we end up with some idle time. When it was time to gather, we watched a Japanese-language safety explanation video and then set off in a convoy of six vehicles. We took breaks along the way, sharing stories from movies and taking photos at scenic points. There was no Japanese interpreter, which was a bit lonely. The ranch is in a valley surrounded by mountains, and because it hasn't been touched by humans, it has a sacred atmosphere. In the latter half, we just moved forward without worrying about the ups and downs of the mountain paths or the muddy puddles! Both the driver and the passengers had a great time.

By the end, the T-shirt I bought the day before was covered in mud, and I had a good laugh at the muddy nose shadow! It's best to wear clothes and bring items that you don't mind getting dirty. The gathering time was around 7 AM, and the return bus departed at 1 PM. You could either book activities for the afternoon and spend the whole day or return to Waikiki for some free time in the afternoon. I was able to fully enjoy the great outdoors at Kualoa Ranch while off-roading. It was a lot of fun driving while taking in the scenery. The guide was also great, taking photos and being considerate by talking to us in English.

However, the dust was quite intense, and I ended up covered in sand, so I would appreciate it if that could be mentioned in the tour's precautions. After the tour, I changed into a fresh outfit.

It was a fun tour riding buggies through the grounds of Kualoa Ranch. I think it's the best tour within Kualoa Ranch. A guide accompanies you, but all explanations at the points are in English, so for Japanese people who are not good at English, you might just have to feel the atmosphere.

The dust is quite intense, and your clothes and bags will get pretty dirty, so you need to be careful about what you wear and bring. Also, be careful when putting on the goggles after attaching them to the helmet, as it can get your face dirty.

Since neither of us speaks any English, we were worried about how it would go, but upon arrival, the check-in guidance and the reception for each activity had a separate announcement saying, "For Japanese speakers, please go this way," so we were able to use the services with peace of mind. The four-wheeler was an automatic vehicle, so we could drive it just like a car in Japan. One thing to note is that while driving, mud and water from the car in front can splash onto you. 【Pickup】
We gathered at the front entrance of the hotel next to the one we were staying at at 8:30 AM. The shuttle bus arrived right on time, and we boarded after confirming our names. I had to show my passport, but it was fine to just present one for the person who made the reservation. The bus was freezing cold! Make sure to bring a long-sleeve shirt! After about a 45-minute ride, we arrived.

【Check-in】
We sat on benches with the other passengers from the bus while a staff member from Kualoa Ranch explained things. Since it was in English, I could hardly understand what was being said, haha. When my name was called, I received a ticket (a flimsy piece of paper about the size of A5). It had the details of the tour I booked and the return bus time. After getting the ticket, we moved to another area for an explanation about the ranch. The staff directed us, saying things like, "Those going on the buggy tour, gather over there!" and "Those on the movie location tour, gather over there!" We received explanations about the meeting places, times, and locations of souvenir shops and cafes. I understood bits and pieces of the words, and then we dispersed until it was time.

【Lockers】
Participants in the horseback riding tour can only bring their smartphones as cameras and minimal belongings; everything else should be stored in lockers. There are plenty of lockers available. They have Japanese support, so I think operating them won't be a problem. It's $5 for the day, and you can open and close them freely!

【Restroom】
I prepared myself for dirty restrooms since it was overseas and at a ranch, but I was pleasantly surprised by how clean they were! The outdoor unisex portable toilets were spacious and completely usable! That was a relief! I recommend using the restroom at the souvenir shop area for water.

【Horseback Riding Tour】
Since we had two hours until our scheduled time, we relaxed in the shade. I wasn't hungry yet and felt a bit sleepy, so I dozed off until it was time. We went to the horseback riding check-in 15 minutes early and signed a consent form. I signed my name in English as it appeared on my passport on a green piece of paper, along with my age in kanji. After that, we watched a short instructional video about horseback riding in Japanese. I put on the helmet I was given. The sizes of helmets for Japanese and foreigners are different, haha. As long as it fits, it was okay, so I ended up wearing a strangely sized helmet, haha. They gave us a small pouch to attach to the saddle, where we could put our cameras and such. By the way, during the instructional video, they said video recording was prohibited, but a Japanese staff member happened to be there and said, "That video is old; it says no recording because big video cameras are dangerous, but small ones like GoPros or phone cameras are fine." Thanks to that, I was able to capture a lot of videos!

Once you get on the horse, you won't get off until you return. We toured the filming locations, but there weren't any detailed explanations; we just understood where we were by looking at the signs. However, the views were breathtaking everywhere, and just riding a horse through such scenery (even though the horses were smart enough to follow the route on their own, haha) was incredibly enjoyable. My horse and my companion's horse kept munching on grass, though, haha.

Before I knew it, two hours had passed, and just as my backside started to hurt, the tour ended. It was so much fun!

【Return Bus】
We had about two hours until the return bus. I was getting hungry, so I had a classic burger, and my companion had loco moco. It was delicious!

集合場所と時間とその他のお土産屋さんやカフェの場所など説明を受けました。単語単語だけなんとなく理解したところで時間まで解散。

【ロッカー】
乗馬ツアーに参加する人はカメラがわりのスマホと最小限の荷物だけを持って他はロッカーにしまいます。
ロッカーはたくさんあります。
日本語対応しているので操作は問題ないと思います。

【トイレ】
海外…しかも牧場…
トイレが汚いのを覚悟して行きましたが、拍子抜けするぐらい綺麗でした！
特に外のユニセックスの仮設トイレ？みたいなところは広々としていて、全然問題なく使えました！

水道はお土産屋さんのところのトイレを利用するといいと思います。

【乗馬ツアー】
予約時間まで2時間あったので日陰でのんびり待ってました。
お腹もまだ空いていないし、眠たいしでうとうとしている間に時間が来ました。
15分前に乗馬の受付に行き、同意書にサインします。
緑色の紙にパスポートの英語表記の名前、年齢、漢字でサインをしました。
その後日本語で乗馬の簡単なレッスンのビデオを見ました。
渡されたヘルメットを被ります。
日本人の頭と外国の方の頭はサイズが違うので…笑
とりあえず被れればOKということで変なサイズのヘルメットを被りました笑
鞍のツノにつけられる小物入れを渡されますので、その中にカメラなどを入れます。
ちなみに、乗馬の説明ビデオの中でビデオ撮影は禁止、と言われますが日本人スタッフの方がたまたまいて、「あれは古い映像だからビデオの機械が大きいと危ないからダメって言ってるけど、最近の小さいGoProとか携帯のカメラならビデオOK」と言われました。おかげさまでたくさん動画も残せました！

一度馬に乗ったら戻ってくるまで降りることはありません。
ロケ地を巡りますが特に詳しい説明などはなく、立て看板を見てなるほどここがジュラシックワールドのロケ地ね、などと勝手に理解していくタイプです。
ただ、どこをとっても絶景なのでそんな中を自らが操る馬に乗って（といっても馬達はお利口なのでただ乗ってるだけでルートを進んでくれます笑）巡るだけでも十分楽しいと思います。
私と同行者の馬はめちゃくちゃ道草を食べましたが（笑）

あっという間に2時間が経ち、そろそろお尻も痛くなってきた頃ツアーも終わります。
とっても楽しかったです！

【帰りのバス】
帰りのバスまでも2時間程度時間がありました。
流石にお腹も空いてきたので、私はクラシックバーガーを。同行者はロコモコを食べました。美味しかったです！

帰りのバスはカフェの外、来た時に説明を受けたあたりで座って待っていると時間になるにつれてぞろぞろと人が集まってきて呼ばれて乗り込むことになります。
ただ、私たちが行った時は3台のバスが並べられて、どこどこ行きの人はこのバス！どこどこ行きの人はこのバス！とスタッフの方が英語で説明するのを聞いて乗り込む事になります。わからなければチケットに書かれた場所をスタッフの方に見せてどのバスに乗ればいいか聞くといいと思います！
帰りは道が混んでいたので1時間と少しかかって朝の集合場所へ戻ってきました。大体16:30ごろ戻ってきたと思います。

日本の乗馬体験では自分で馬を操るというのはなかなか難しいですが、ヘルメット一つの軽装(？)で自分で馬を操って2時間も歩く乗馬体験は海外ならではですね。
とっても楽しい1日になりました！

Had a fantastic time on this tour! Our guides were great - fun and knowledgeable - and made the whole experience worth it! The whole ranch area is absolutely stunning - so picturesque it's hard to know where to look nex whilst trying to concentrate on the path ahead! This quickly became one of our favourite activities and now want an electric bike!!
