This was our first time and we really had a good time, the last show was great, the only thing we were not real fond of was the luau dinner, very simple and I wanted to really see how the pig was cooked in the sand. Dinner was not very good. The people there were very very nice to work with. Our driver Chris was also very nice and gave us a lot of information while on the drive.

For our family's last dinner on the trip, we enjoyed a luau show. Compared to the evening show at the Polynesian Cultural Center that we had seen before, this show was smaller and more compact, but we enjoyed the powerful dances right in front of us. The food was also surprisingly delicious, and we were very satisfied. There were several newlywed couples from the UK and the US who were enjoying the dance as introduced by the host. The Western audience was really responsive to the host's calls, and it made me feel that I want to improve my English communication skills.
This time, we drove from our hotel in South Kohala to Kailua-Kona, parked at a shopping center, and after strolling around downtown Kona, we watched the luau show. I was relieved that we didn't get lost and were able to participate.

Overall, it was an English immersion experience. Of course, on the bus and even after arriving, we were the only Japanese group there.
Since we had to rely on the shuttle bus for transportation, it was really challenging to understand English.
There was a staff member on the shuttle bus who guided us. You need to remember the name of that staff member and the bus number for your seat at the venue, so it's essential to memorize that. In our case, Jackie was the staff member, and the bus number was 5.
We were quite unsure about when and where to gather for the return trip. In the end, after the show, everyone just got up from their seats and went shopping or wandered around, but it seemed we could return to the bus whenever we wanted. Since we were confused, we found Jackie, who was selling commemorative photos, asked her where the bus was, and managed to get back to the bus.
There were many anxieties, but the show was very impressive and really great. The food was delicious too. Now that I understand the flow of things from this experience, I would like to go again.

We participated as a family of four. The location was a private beach at the hotel, and there were about 200 participants. Most of them were tourists from Western countries, and there were few Japanese attendees. The seating was on a first-come, first-served basis, and since we arrived just before the opening, only the seats at the back were available. Naturally, the seats closer to the front offered a more intense dance experience. Since we had small children with us, it turned out to be nice to have a spacious area at the back to relax.
Before the dance, there is a dinner (buffet style). The variety is abundant, with many Polynesian dishes, and I think it might be challenging for some Japanese men to try all the different types. There are also seafood dishes, allowing you to enjoy Hawaii's food culture. A significant difference from Japan is that Westerners tend to take a large amount at once and are less likely to go back for seconds, so for Japanese people who usually take smaller portions, there might be dishes they intended to eat later that are already gone. By the way, there is no replenishment of the food. The drinks are free-flowing, but the bar counter closes once the show starts, so please drink as much as you like before the food.
The dance show features not only Hawaiian hula but also various forms of dance from the Polynesian region, accompanied by music. There are no explanations in Japanese, but this actually enhances the atmosphere of being enveloped in a different culture, making it enjoyable. You will have a wonderful evening on the island of Hawaii, where the fire goddess Pele resides.

The whole evening was very imformative. From finding out that the very program itself helps educates our young to learning about other places around the world. I have no doubt that the program has and will continue to offer a very unique learning experience for those that are at BYU and to those that attend the Polynesian Cultural Center for entertainment. All the work that was put into the shows to make them both unique and entertaining comes out in every aspect of the center itself. As we will be living here for at least the next 3 years, when we have guests it will be one of the features of Oahu that I recommend.

I participated in the All Day Deluxe tour. It was a slightly larger group of about 20 people, but the voice of our international student guide, Mamoru, was clear, and I didn't feel too inconvenienced.
After watching the canoe show, we could do whatever we liked in the villages, but since it was my first time and I didn't know my way around, I was taken to recommended spots. We toured each village and got to experience hula, tattoos, poi balls, and even taste taro. The shows included a drumming performance from Tonga Village and a cooking show from Samoa Village, and I laughed so much that I cried. I highly recommend it!!!
The buffet featured delicious purple bread with taro. Since we only had about an hour, the food started to dwindle as the show time approached, so I think it's best to be quick in getting your food.
The show was powerful and wonderful! I could see the dancers' expressions clearly and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since I opted for the deluxe package, I thought our seats would be decent, but surprisingly, we were in the fourth row right in the center of the circular theater—an amazing spot! Thank you, Alan Wan, for the arrangements!!
If I had to mention something difficult, it seems we had to stop at a souvenir shop for about 45 minutes during the transfer, so if you don't need anything and have your own transportation, it might be better to meet on-site. Also, don't forget to confirm your reservation with a phone call after arriving in Hawaii! My hotel name wasn't communicated, and I wasn't on the pickup list.
If I have the chance to come to Hawaii again, I definitely want to go again and enjoy the villages I didn't get to see much of this time!!

The transportation was on time, and the staff were Japanese. They provided a simple sightseeing guide until we arrived at the PCC. For first-timers, it might feel like a great deal. We had the Twilight Deluxe, and surprisingly, our seats were in the second row from the front in the center. It was the best location for a deluxe experience. The show closely followed Polynesian culture, and I think it's worth seeing. It was a family outing, and the kids (middle school and elementary school) were engaged until the very end. The deluxe package includes ice cream service during the show, but there’s quite a lot, so you might not be able to finish it. For this type of experience, I think it can be considered the best in Hawaii.

We really had a great time at the center and learned a great deal. You really need to get a guide to get the most information on each village and so you don't end up going in circles or getting lost in the center. The guide keeps you on track and know when the shows are scheduled and the best places to sit. The food was exceptional. Our seats were in the sun and we wish we could have sat in the shade....that was our only complaint. The sun didn't stay up long and we soon forgot about it. First of all, I highly recommend the v.i.p box. I was kind of expecting an individual booth, but it’s actually an area under a shed seating about 30-40 people (8 people a table). Even though you’re sitting with other people, v.i.p beats getting up to stand in line for food. There would be a staff member serving you, also most important is the weather. A staff member I talked to mentioned that if it happens to rain, the only people that would be covered are people in v.i.p. If it does rain, there would be security guards blocking the v.i.p booth, if anyone with a standard seat tries to enter.
The activities are delightful, the gift shops are great, and I must have spent about 100-130 dollars just on souvenirs. The picture taken of us is beautiful. Going as a couple, 6 drink coupons each were plenty. When you enter you will receive a complimentary drink, so we actually had extra coupons by the end of the. The staffs are nice, helpful, and funny. It was a great luau………..
