My husband and I recently went on a 4-hour deep sea fishing trip with Aloha Blue. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, and the views of Maui from the water were incredible. The staff and crew were also very friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout the trip.
That said, I was disappointed with the amount of actual fishing time we received. A significant portion of the excursion was spent traveling between fishing locations. At each stop, we were often given only about five minutes to fish before being told to reel in and move to another spot in search of more bites. Over the course of a 4-hour trip, it felt like we only spent around 30 minutes actively fishing.
While we did catch a few fish, I felt the trip could have been planned more effectively. As experienced local guides who do this every day, I expected the crew to have a better idea of productive fishing locations and to allow guests more time to fish rather than constantly moving. For the price of the excursion, I don't feel we received enough actual fishing time to get our money's worth.
Overall, the staff and scenery were great, but the limited fishing time left us feeling disappointed with the experience.
Enjoyed the hike in rainforest even though the hike seemed more like an intermediate level hike instead of a beginner's hike. (maybe I'm just out of shape more than I thought I was!) Driver to and from was friendly and knowledgeable about Manoa Falls and the surrounding areas. The bug spray, walking stick, and water bottle were a definite plus. Overall, we enjoyed the experience.

We went to see the sunset at the mountain summit to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The weather was nice, and we were able to see a beautiful sunset. It was an English tour, but luckily, our guide Chris occasionally explained things in Japanese, which made it easy to understand and enjoyable. I was moved. I highly recommend it.

No Big island adventure is complete without this Stargazing experience!!! These guys did an excellent job of accommodating our party of 20 - ranging from 4 to 63. They recommended and we rebooked for a 3 AM time due to the new moon and cloud cover - DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Even at that time the kids were alert and engaged. The hospitality was amazing and the pictures are breathtaking.

Yoshi is an excellent tour guide. He took lots of care driving us up the mountain to reach the 10000 ft mark. Once there he took us to a special spot where we saw the beautiful sunset then he set up chairs with blankets and gloves for the cooler temperatures. We saw lots of stars and planets. He is very knowledgeable in relation to stargazing. Highly recommend taking this tour with him!

We ended up soaking wet during the downhill ride, but it was a lot of fun descending the mountain. The scenery was completely white, so I would love to have a chance to do it again.

Our guide was absolutely great! He was fun to be with. Unfortunately Mother Nature was not very cooperative, as it was very overcast/cloudy. No stargazing at the top or at the lower level was possible. Sunset was also disappointing. We did get to wander around some awesome telescopes. We were told we would each get a rebate on our charge, but that hasn't shown up on our account yet. But, we did have fun w/ our fellow excursionists, and as I stated at the beginning, our guide was great! Back at the bottom, he did take some time to show us some stars and constellations that became visible.
Could have used a couple cups of hot chocolate.
This is a must if you go to Hawaii, the ranch was awesome and I highly recommend it to all. Don’t miss it you will be disappointed! Once in a lifetime experience.
Among the 12 tour participants, we were the only two Japanese. The sunset and moon telescope observation were great. Since we knew from the beginning that it was an English tour, it couldn't be helped, but it would have been nice if important information about altitude acclimatization had been provided in Japanese. It was disappointing not to understand the introduction to the Big Island and the details of the stargazing due to the language barrier. I hope more Japanese participants join in again, and that Japanese tours will resume.
