My wife and I participated together. I had visited Oahu three times before, but it was my first time on the Big Island. The main purpose of my first trip to the Big Island was this tour of the "Mauna Kea Summit Sunset." I was worried about altitude sickness, but the guide explained how to avoid it while we were in the car, so there were no issues. However, I did get a bit out of breath when moving around at the summit, but the breathtaking starry sky, unlike anything I had ever seen before, made me forget my breathlessness. I was able to see the Milky Way and learned for the first time that starlight illuminates the ground. This is a tour I would love to join again if I have the opportunity to go to the Big Island.

If you're going to the Big Island, you definitely want to climb!

I used this for my honeymoon in late October. Unfortunately, it was cloudy on the day, and we couldn't see the sunset very well... There were also hardly any stars visible. After waiting anxiously for 30 minutes... suddenly the clouds cleared, and an astonishing starry sky spread out before us! There was also a funny incident where our guide got caught speeding by the police, but he was released with the amusing condition of writing a reflection letter^^;

It seems there are observation tours around the Onizuka Center, but this tour takes you higher up for observation, so the stars feel closer and more impressive! We also had plenty of time.

I highly recommend it.

10月下旬にハネムーンで利用しました。
当日はあいにくの雲で、サンセットはあまりきれいに見れず・・・
星もほとんど見えない状態でした。
不安な気持ちで待つこと３０分・・・突然雲が晴れてきて驚くような星空が目の前に広がりました！
ガイドさんが慌てていたのか、途中で速度違反で警察に捕まるというハプニングもありましたが、反省文を書けばＯＫという面白い条件で解放されました^^;

オニヅカセンターあたりで観測するツアーもあるようですが、このツアーはそれより上で観測させてくれるので、星空が近くて迫力あります！
時間もたっぷりありました。

オススメです。

The main purpose of my trip to the Big Island was sunset star gazing.

I was completely satisfied with everything. Our guide, Mr. Yamamoto, was so much fun that there was no time to fall asleep in the car; it was an enjoyable ride.

We took various photos along the way, and the clear guidance made for many wonderful memories.

The dinner included warm miso soup and a bento that made me question if I was really in Hawaii; I was surprised.

They even provided tea, cocoa, and cookies—everything was taken care of.

The star gazing felt like a planetarium with the laser pointer.

Next time, I will participate with my husband, and I look forward to it!

The weather was great on the day of the tour, and the sunset and stargazing were fantastic. The guide was very proactive in taking photos, had interesting stories, and was extremely kind. They provided complete cold weather gear, including top and bottom layers, a cute warm hat, and gloves. They also made sure to take breaks here and there to help us acclimate to the altitude. Both the guide and the experience were top-notch.

当日は天気も良く、サンセット＆星空観測は最高でした。
ガイドの方も積極的に写真を撮ってくれて話も面白くとても親切でした。
防寒対策も上下の防寒着、かわいい防寒用帽子、手袋等を準備してくれて万全でした。
高山へ体を慣らすためにところどころで休憩してくれました。

The guide was very kind and it was really great! They willingly took many photos and the explanations were well done, making the ride back enjoyable without any boredom. The tour was really good, but even though it was early April, it was incredibly cold up there, so even with the down jacket they lent me, I caught a cold the next day since I'm sensitive to the cold... So, I think it's a good idea for those who go to bring a heat pack.

The stargazing was too cold, so we quickly went back to the car, but it was incredibly beautiful and moving.

I was happy that the photos could be downloaded for free. I’ve been on other tours with this company, but I found that there are no bad guides. I think everyone is very well trained.

When I go to Hawaii again, I plan to look for tours with this company.

I participated with guide Fujitani. I managed to catch the sunset, but unfortunately, the starry sky was disappointing. It couldn't be helped since it was up to the weather. However, I was able to see the stars from a spot a little lower down the mountain♪ I was glad I could take some photos.

What was a bit disappointing was when I looked at the blog. There were many photos uploaded by the members of guide Matsuzaki, but not many of Fujitani's members were featured. In fact, it was only the photos taken by Matsuzaki, so I thought I would like to request Matsuzaki as my guide next time.

The cold weather gear was perfectly prepared, and although we brought some from Japan, we didn't need it at all. The provided cold weather gear included:
- Ski wear (top and bottom)
- Gloves
- Wool hat
- Hot drinks
and it was prepared for the number of people. If you're worried, it might be good to bring a hot pack.

Overall, it was a fun tour.

サンセットは何とか間に合い見ることが出来ましたが、
星空は残念でした。お天気が相手なので仕方なかったです。
でも、少し下山した所からは星空を見ることが出来ました♪
写真も撮れたので良かったです。

少し残念だったのが、ブログを見たときです。
合流したマツザキさんガイドのメンバーさんはたくさんの写真がアップされていましたが、フジタニさんガイドのメンバーはあまり写っていませんでした。
そもそもマツザキさんが撮った写真だけでしたので、
次回参加する時はマツザキさん指名でお願いしたいと思いました。

防寒具もバッチリ準備されており、ある程度日本から準備して行った私達でしたが、
全くいりませんでした。
用意されている防寒具は、
・スキーウエア―程度の防寒具(上下)
・手袋
・毛糸の帽子
・温かい飲み物
など人数分準備されています。
もし、心配でしたらホカロンを持参すると良いかもしれません。

トータル楽しいツアーでした。

I live in Chiba Prefecture, and our guide, Mr. Konno, was a brother from Ibaraki Prefecture. We progressed from Kona to Waikoloa, and along the way, we were able to see a bird called Holo Holo, which is said to be rare. When we entered Parker Ranch, it started to get a bit cold, and it was really tough even in a T-shirt. When we arrived at the Onizuka Visitor Center, it was very cold, and I put on something like ski wear. The bento had tough chicken, but the air was very delicious. After finishing our meal, we headed to the summit by car. I had seen it on TV, but when we arrived at the summit, it felt like we had come to a star somewhere in the universe. I was also moved to be able to drive to a place higher than Mount Fuji. While getting out of the car and taking pictures, I felt a bit dizzy, and I thought about what Mr. Konno had said about the thin oxygen. There were many clouds, so we couldn't see the sunset. At the star observation point, two other cars joined us, and we shared two telescopes to look at the stars. Climbing Mount Fuji is hard, but since you can drive to a mountain over 4,000 meters, my parents in their 70s who joined me were also moved, saying, "I can't believe we can climb such a high mountain at this age." The guide was kind and careful while driving to avoid altitude sickness.

On the way to the summit, encountering wildlife and stargazing was breathtaking; I don't think I've ever seen so many beautiful stars, and my heart was filled with the richness of nature. I was also impressed by the guide's knowledge as they explained the constellations clearly using a laser pointer. I believe this is a tour that can be enjoyed by both children and adults.

　富士山に登るのはハードだけど、4000メートル級の山に車で行けるので一緒に参加した70代の両親も「この歳でこんな高い山に登れるなんて」と、感動してました。高山病にならないよう、気を遣いながら運転してたガイドさんも親切で良かったです。
　山頂までの道中で、野生動物に遇ったり、星空観測は、こんなにたくさんの星を見たことないと思うくらい綺麗で、自然の豊かさに心が満たされました。
　レーザーポインターを使いながらわかりやすく星座の説明をしてくれたガイドさんの知識も感動。子供から大人まで楽しめるツアーだと思います。

I used this service for my honeymoon. We stayed at Hapuna Beach Prince and had a pick-up at 15:15, which was almost on time. On the way, we stopped to take pictures with horses and lava, and enjoyed explanations about the flowers.

When we arrived at the Onizuka Center, we were lent warm clothing and had our lunch. I was excited, thinking, "Now, we’re finally heading to the top of Mauna Kea..." but when I looked at the road, I saw the sign saying "ROAD CLOSED."

It was a major event of the trip, so I couldn't accept the reality. The tour guide tried hard, but the road never opened. We climbed a hill near the Onizuka Center to watch the sunset (which was beautiful in its own right) and saw some stars in the parking lot, but unfortunately, the clouds obscured much of the view.

On the way back to town, the clouds cleared a bit, so the guide stopped the car for us to see the stars, and we were able to enjoy a stunning starry sky. We also took pictures with the stars, which we can receive online later. On the way back, we stopped by a supermarket.

Although this time ended up being disappointing, the guide was pleasant and worked hard, and the weather is no one's fault, so I would like to try again next time.

行く途中、馬や溶岩などと写真を撮るために寄ってくれたり、お花の説明など楽しめました。
オニズカセンターまで到着し、防寒着を貸してもらい、お弁当を食べ、
さあ、これからいよいよ・・・
と思って、マウナケア頂上に向かう道を見ると、「ROAD　CLOSED」の文字。
旅の一大イベントだったので、現実を受け入れられませんでした。

ツアーガイドさんも粘ってくれましたが、道が開くことは無く。
オニズカセンター近くの丘に登ってサンセット見て（これはこれで綺麗でした）
駐車場で星を見せてもらいましたが、あいにくの雲であまり見れませんでした。
町への帰り道、途中で雲が切れたので星を見る為に車を停めてくれて、満点の星空が見れました。星空との写真も撮影してくれ、後日ネットから受け取れます。
帰りにはスーパーに寄ってもらいました。

今回は、残念な結果になってしまいましたが、ガイドさんは感じよく、一生懸命働いてくれましたし、天候ばっかりは誰のせいでもないので、また次回リベンジしたいと思います。

We participated as a couple in January. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, but our guide worked hard to make up for it, and it was a very enjoyable tour. I think there's nothing we can do about the weather. Still, we were able to safely observe the starry sky.

Last time I participated in the summer, and since the constellations visible change with the seasons, this time I went in winter when my constellation is visible.

Every time I joined during the new moon according to the lunar calendar, I was amazed by the starry sky, but this time I couldn't adjust my schedule, so I ended up going close to the full moon and had low expectations. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how many stars I could see.

Additionally, the weather was absolutely perfect, allowing us to see the red lava lake of Kilauea from the summit.

I also love that I can take a lot of photos each time, and they upload the images on their website.

I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon and participated in the Mauna Kea Sunset & Stargazing Tour.

Before reaching the summit, we saw a beautiful rainbow and took some photos there. It was a fun journey even before we got to the top, taking pictures on the lava!

Then, we observed the sunset near the summit.

It was truly beautiful!! The sunset reflecting off the clouds was also very stunning.

As for the cold, it was indeed cold. I made sure to wear warm clothing, but they also lent us ski pants, jackets, hats, and gloves, which was very appreciated.

山頂につく前にも、とってもきれいな虹が出ていて、そこで写真撮影。溶岩の上で写真撮影と、山頂に行くまでも楽しい旅でした＾＾

そして、山頂付近で夕日の観察。

本当にきれいでした！！雲に夕日が反射しているのも、とても綺麗でした。

寒さは、やっぱり寒いです。自分でもしっかり防寒具を着込んでいきましたが、さらにスキー用（？）のズボンと上着と帽子と手袋を貸してくださいますので、とてもありがたかったです。


星空観察は、「こんなに星があったの！？」というくらいたくさんの星が見えて本当に本当にきれいでした。

ガイドさんの山本さんも、とってもおもしろくて、ハワイ島や星たちに詳しくて、とってもよいツアーでした!!
私たちの手持ちカメラでの星空撮影の方法まで教えていただき、とっても綺麗な写真もとれました！！

We signed up with my parents, who are celebrating their 60th birthday, and my husband and I, making a group of four. First of all, we were very satisfied with the guide's attentive work and witty explanations of the starry sky, and surprisingly (was that rude?) the bento was delicious.

Since we drove to a place higher than Mount Fuji, I was careful to practice abdominal breathing as instructed to avoid altitude sickness (I experienced drowsiness and a slight headache due to lack of oxygen). However, once we reached the summit, the sunset viewed from a rocky world that felt like another realm made all drowsiness and headaches disappear. The starry sky observation from a little below the summit, accompanied by the guide's humorous commentary, made us forget the cold.

Each participant took turns having their photos taken against the backdrop of the starry sky, and the service to download those photos for free from the blog on the website was incredibly moving, as it was something we couldn't do ourselves. 車で富士山より高い所まで行くので、登りは高山病にならないように教えてもらった腹式呼吸で酸素を取り込むことに気を使っていました(酸素不足による眠気と軽い頭痛を経験しました)。しかし、いったん頂上に着いてしまえば、異世界のような石だらけの世界から見る夕日に眠気も頭痛も吹っ飛び、頂上から少し降りた所から見た星空観測では笑いを交じえた軽妙なガイドに寒さも忘れる程でした。
参加者全員順番に、星空をバックに写真を撮って下さり、それをHPのブログから無料でダウンロードできるサービスは、自分たちではできないことなのでとても感激でした。オリオン座と冬の大三角を背景に撮った写真は家族の素敵な思い出の一枚です。ありがとうございました!!

We participated as a family of eight. With four people over 60 years old, including the oldest at 73, I was worried about whether we could handle climbing a mountain higher than Mount Fuji at 4,200 meters. I thought it would be a more challenging tour, but they provided breaks for altitude adjustment, and everyone was in great shape.

In Kona, the temperature was 20 degrees, while at the summit of Mauna Kea, it was minus 2 degrees, so there was a 22-degree temperature difference. However, the cold weather gear they lent us was perfect.

I participated with my wife and daughter. Actually, the day before, we went to Kilauea Volcano and stargazing, but unfortunately, the weather was not good, and we were disappointed that we couldn't see the volcano or the stars. 家内と娘と三人で参加しました。実は前日にキラウエア火山とスターゲイジングにも行ったのですが、あいにくに天気で火山も星もよく見られずがっかりしていましたが、マウナケアは天気がよく感動的な夕日から始まり天の川を含め満天の星を見る事ができました。さらに私だけ流れ星も見られて家内にうらやましがられています。参加する皆さんにアドバイスとしては、夕飯の時間が１５時頃ですごく早いので昼は早めにとるか、少量にしたほうがよいでしょう。（お弁当はあまり期待しないほうが、、、）また、オニズカセンターで高地の低酸素に体を慣らす時間を取りますが、山頂に着くと頭痛やちょと動いただけで動悸や体がふらついたりするので気を付けたほうがよいでしょう。また、冬はかなり寒いのでホッカイロやタイツを用意したほうがよいと思います。まさしのツアーではズボンも用意してくれたので助かりました。ズボンがあるのはまさしのツアーだけと言っていました。いずれにしてもハワイ島に行ったらぜひ経験してほしいツアーだと思います。

The guide mentioned that because it was a full moon, there were fewer stars visible than usual. However, I was satisfied with the photos taken of the full moon through the telescope☆

In November, the weather isn't very good, and on the day we went, there were only thin clouds. However, the day before, it was completely covered by thick clouds, and no stars were visible at all.

山頂へ登るまでの雲海と、山頂での夕日は大変幻想的で美しく最高でした！
星空は、やはり満月なので星はいつもよりは見える数が少ないとガイドさんは言ってました。
ただ、望遠鏡で拡大した満月を写真に撮ってもらい満足でした☆

１１月は気候もあんまり良くないらしく私たちの言った日はうっすら雲がかかっている程度でしたが、前日は厚い雲に覆われ一切星空は見えなかったそうです。

ツアー中色々写真を撮ってくれて、後日ブログからダウンロードできるようにしてくれていて助かります♪♪

お天気はその日にならないとわからないですが、ハワイ島に行かれるなら是非お勧めのツアーですよ＾＾

On October 20th, I boarded the Nakane-san bus.

I was worried about altitude sickness, but Nakane-san taught us various things like how to drink water and precautions, and as long as I followed his advice, I was fine.

The sunset sinking into the clouds was truly beautiful, and I think it's worth seeing at least once. The "shadow of the Earth" that I saw after the sunset was very beautiful and left a strong impression on me. Nakane-san took a silhouette photo of a newlywed couple with the sunset in the background, and it turned out so beautifully that it became a memorable picture from their honeymoon. I have it set as my phone wallpaper and PC desktop image.

During the stargazing afterward, even though the moon was bright, I was still able to see many stars. Lying on the ground and looking up at the star-filled sky, I could see the Milky Way and even satellites with the naked eye! We also took photos with the starry sky in the background, creating wonderful memories that will be cherished both in memory and in record.

As for clothing, I wore:
On top: Heattech long sleeves → sweatshirt → Uniqlo light down → borrowed down jacket
On the bottom: Heattech tights → long pants → borrowed pants
This was just right for me (I tend to get hot, so it was a bit chilly). My husband, who gets cold easily, borrowed a hat and gloves and used a heat pack he brought from Japan.

高山病が心配でしたが、ナカネさんが水の飲み方や注意事項など色々教えて下さるので、その通りにしていたら大丈夫でした。

雲に沈む夕陽は本当にキレイで一度は見てみる価値があると思います。私は夕陽が沈んだ後に見た『地球の影』がとてもキレイで印象に残りました。ナカネさんが新婚のカップルに夕陽をバックに２人が見つめ合うシルエットの写真を撮って下さったのですが、それがとてもキレイで新婚旅行の思い出の１枚となっています。携帯の待ち受けとＰＣのデスクトップ画像にしています。

その後の星空観測、月が明るかったのですがそれでもたくさんの星を見ることが出来ました。地面に寝転がって見る満天の星空、天の川や人工衛星まで肉眼で見えました！星空をバックにした写真も撮っていただき、記憶にも記録にも残るステキな思い出となりました。

服装ですが、
上はヒートテックの長袖→トレーナー→ユニクロのライトダウン→貸してもらったダウン
下はヒートテックのタイツ→長ズボン→貸してもらったズボン
でちょうど良かったです。（暑がりの私でやや寒いくらいかな。）寒がりの夫はさらに帽子と手袋を貸してもらい、日本から持参したカイロを貼っていました。

夜ご飯や星空観測の時にあたたかい飲み物を出して下さる心遣いもうれしかったです。ナカネさんありがとうございました！とってもステキな思い出が出来ました。
