This trip to Hawaii was a long-awaited three-generation family vacation. To fulfill my 9-year-old niece's wish to swim with dolphins, we decided to participate as a family. Our family tends to be more indoorsy, and with many of us not being able to swim, we were able to enjoy ourselves safely thanks to the kind and friendly Nao and the handsome and fun Rei, who provided us with constant support. The sea conditions were terrible, and participants from other tour companies likely wouldn’t have seen any dolphins, but thanks to Nao, Rei, and the captain's persistence, we encountered a large pod of dolphins! They made our dream of swimming with dolphins come true, creating a lifelong memory. My niece was also very satisfied.

The driver, Mr. Nawata, was from Fukuoka like us, and we had a great time chatting about our hometown, making it enjoyable from start to finish! Mr. Nawata and Rei were just as handsome as they were described (laughs).

Since there was no shuttle service, we took an Uber to the dock for $20. When we signed up for the trip, it turned out that we were the only ones on the boat. It seems that the other participants, all from English-speaking countries, were on separate boats with their families. About 30 minutes to an hour by boat, we encountered a pod of 100 to 200 dolphins. They were jumping and spinning all around, and I was already moved before even entering the water. We were able to see these wild dolphins up close, which I thought I could only see in an aquarium. It was moving to hear the sounds of dolphins that I had only heard on television! There were times when the dolphins would swim away to take a break, but our guide, Ray, and the captain made an effort to ensure that participants had as much time as possible to interact with the dolphins. I think even those who are not good swimmers can enjoy the experience with the solid support from the guides. I could feel the love for dolphins from both Mr. Nawa and guide Ray, and I definitely want to join this tour again.

友達が海は苦手ということで１人参加しましたが、参加者の方々もフレンドリーで、ガイドのだいすけさんのおかげで心地よく過ごせました！ガイドの方は存じ上げなかったのですが、イルカやクジラさんたちの写真家でもあり、ツアー自体もイルカの気持ちを大事にしている暖かいツアーです。
40分ほどで沖に出るとイルカさんたちがわらわらいました。ガイドの方がイルカとコミュニケーションを取りながら誘導してくれたので、間近で見れましたし、真横にゆっくり！？至近距離で来てくれたイルカさんとジッーと目が合ったときは、感動して涙が出ちゃいました！
回転しながらジャンプするというスピナードルフィンぶりも何度も見せてくれました。イルカの優しさやボートから見る海の美しさに感謝でいっぱいになるツアーです。ハワイ島にきたらまずオススメしたいと思います。(その後、私の感動っぷりに触発された友達が参加しようとしましたが、数日先まで予約が埋まっていたのでお早めに！)

This was the most anticipated activity of our honeymoon. It was incredibly fun and an unforgettable tour that exceeded our expectations! Our guide, Daisuke, had a special connection with the dolphins and truly knew them better than anyone else…! He was so enthusiastic that he even bent the captain's instructions to let us try again, shining with joy more than any other participant that day (laughs). However, that enthusiasm made us participants very happy, and I believe we had a truly valuable experience! There were quite a number of dolphins, and I will never forget the view the moment I put my face in the water! All the other staff members were friendly and wonderful people! I was able to spend a lovely time with the other participants. Thank you so much! If I can visit the Big Island again, I would definitely love to participate again!!

Deluxe Captain Cook Snorkeling Tour at Kealakekua Bay - Fair Wind Cruises

It is hard to know which cruise to book--well this is the one I would go with each time! The crew were knowledgable and respectful! As we came into the bay, their were a pod of spinner dolphins; we kept a respectful distance but we all got to take photos. Then when we pulled into anchor and snorkel, they made sure we knew to keep our distance from where the dolphins were swimming, since the dolphins come to the bay to rest it is even more important for people to give them their space--so impressed with the crew.

The snorkeling was beautiful. The coral was amazing and at many different levels with sooo many different species of fish!! Fabulous!

I gathered at the port, which is about a 10-minute drive from the hotel in Kona! There were so few Japanese people that I felt a sense of relief in an environment where Japanese could be spoken.

At first, we had a hard time finding the dolphin spot and kept cruising around the Waikoloa area. Just when I started to worry, the boat stopped, and we entered the water!

When we dove in at the call of "Here they come!", a large number of dolphins swam towards us!!!! The dolphins, which I usually only see in the aquarium, swam towards us leisurely and happily.

They twirled around, jumped, and swam close together, and it was such a precious experience that was incredibly cute!!! Thank you, Lei and Aki, for sharing so many stories and for being such warm-hearted people. I had a wonderful time! Thank you very much!

最初はなかなかイルカのポイントが見つからず、ワイコロア周辺まで船で走り続け、心配になってきたところで船が止まり、海に入ります。！
来ましたよ〜！の声で海に潜ると、大量のイルカたちがこっちに向かってきました！！！！
普段は水族館のプールの中でしか見たことのないイルカたちが、のんびりと、楽しそうにこっちに向かって泳いできました。
くるくると回ったり、飛び跳ねたり、2頭で身体をくっつけて泳いだり、可愛くて可愛くて、とても貴重な体験をしました！！！

Throughout the trip, she frequently checked in on our health and meal preferences, which made us feel at ease. It was unfortunate that there were guides in the Captain Cook area that I couldn't understand due to the language barrier. However, I was able to enjoy snorkeling at my own pace and had a meaningful experience seeing various fish and corals in two different locations. The meals were served buffet-style, and the hamburger patties were grilled live! The location and delicious aroma were fantastic, and the food was very tasty. Breakfast is provided, but since we gathered at 9 AM and arrived at the first point after departure, I felt a bit nauseous from hunger... In fact, one guest had to return to the port and disembark before heading to the second point due to feeling unwell after entering the water. It might be better for participants to have a little something in their stomachs beforehand.

水が苦手な母はずっと船上でしたが、「こういう所で浮き具も貸してもらえるなら次は海に入ってみようと思う。」と海中を実際に見てみたいと魅了されたようです。ガイドのエミさんの声も大変耳心地よく気持ちよくクルーズできました。
シェラトンコナに宿泊していたので、徒歩で集合場所まで行けたのも良かったです。

This is not a Japanese tour, so the guide spoke entirely in English. The staff were friendly, and we had a lot of fun. There seemed to be an explanation about Captain Cook, but we couldn't understand it due to our zero English skills. (laughs) However, I recommend this tour for those who want to see beautiful seas and fish while snorkeling! The sailing was quite slow, allowing us to feel the great outdoors. I wouldn't recommend it for those who are prone to seasickness.
