The tour had just over 20 people, and my friend and I were the only Japanese, which really felt like being abroad!!!

The captain and the guides were also focused on environmental protection, balancing nature conservation and tourism on the Big Island of Hawaii. Although the stories about Hawaii were in English, I enjoyed listening to them.

They paid attention to the participants' dangerous behaviors, allowing us to enjoy the experience with peace of mind.

The water was very clear! However, I think it's unique to Hawaii, but there weren't a lot of colorful fish; the main ones were yellow fish.

Both breakfast and lunch served on the boat were delicious! I wonder why potato chips taste so good after playing in the ocean!

I would love to participate again when I come back to the Big Island.

総勢20名強のツアーで、日本人は友人と私の2人きりで、まさに海外！！！という感じでした。

船長さんはじめ、ガイドの皆様は環境保護にも注力しており、ハワイ島の自然保護と観光を両立されていらっしゃいました。途中のハワイのお話も英語ではあったものの楽しく拝聴しました。

ツアー参加者の危険行為にも注意を払っており、安心して楽しむことができます。

海は透明度も高かったです！ただ、ハワイ特有かと思いますが、色とりどりの魚というわけではなく、イエローフィッシュがメインでした。

船上でいただく、朝食、ランチともにおいしく頂きました！
海遊びのあとのポテトチップスってなんであんなに美味しいんでしょう！

また、ハワイ島に来る時には参加したいと思います。

Very fun tour, would recommend!

The summit of Mauna Kea was as cold as I had heard, but the weather was nice and the sunset view was amazing. The stargazing was a bit difficult due to some clouds, but I was really happy to see the Southern Cross. Shota was very kind and helpful. Thank you very much.

The weather was perfect, and I encountered a once-in-a-lifetime view. In addition to a sky full of stars with no gaps, it was my first experience seeing stars below my line of sight. I also thoroughly enjoyed the sunset and was very satisfied.

Chris's explanations were very easy to understand, and his speaking style was smooth and pleasant to listen to.

This is my fourth time on the Big Island, but I was finally able to participate in the Mauna Kea summit tour. The guide was a young foreign man who communicated with us using simple Japanese and a translation app, so I didn't feel any inconvenience. The explanations were translated, and I was able to understand everything well.

We spent 40 minutes at the Onizuka Center to acclimate to the altitude before heading to the summit. At each point, the guide helped us take photos and was attentive to our well-being, allowing us to enjoy the tour with peace of mind.

The clear weather provided a sunset sinking into the sea of clouds, and the subsequent stargazing felt like a planetarium; it was the most beautiful starry sky I've ever seen in my life. I saw the Southern Cross, which I rarely get to see, and while I was photographing the night sky, I accidentally captured a shooting star! It was truly the best time I could have asked for.

ハワイ島は4回目ですが、初めてマウナケア山頂ツアーに参加できました。
ガイドの方は若い外国人男性でしたが、片言の日本語や翻訳アプリでコミュニケーションをとってくださり不便は感じませんでした。
案内も翻訳で説明があり よく理解出来ました。
オニヅカセンターで高地に慣れるため40分過ごし山頂に向かいまいたが、ポイント毎にガイドの方は撮影を手伝ってくださったり体調を気遣っていただき安心してツアーを楽しめました。
晴天で雲海に沈むサンセットとその後の星空観測はまるでプラネタリウムのようで、人生で一番キレイな星空でした。
あまり見ることの無い南十字星や、星空を撮影していたら偶然に流れ星？も写っており本当に最高の時間を過ごせました。

I was worried because it was cloudy that day, but I was very satisfied to see the stunning sunset. The sandwich was also delicious. I want to go see it again someday.

I participated in a sunset and stargazing tour this time. It turned out to be a very precious experience. Before going, I was just hoping to see the sunset and the starry sky beautifully, but throughout the tour, I was able to feel the nature of the Big Island of Hawaii, including the scenery along the way to the summit and the sea of clouds.

I thoroughly enjoyed the main events of the sunset and the starry sky. Although there were quite a few clouds during the sunset, it was still sufficiently mystical. The starry sky was so beautiful that I could see shooting stars, which was a first-time experience for me.

Our guide, Chris, provided explanations not only in English but also in Japanese, which made us feel at ease even though we couldn't speak English. I appreciate Chris's thoughtfulness.

If I have friends visiting the Big Island, I would definitely recommend this tour.

今回夕陽と星空観測のツアーに参加しました。とても貴重な時間になりました。
行く前は夕陽と星空、綺麗に見れたらいいなーと思っているくらいでしたが、山頂までの道中の景色や雲海など、ツアーを通してハワイ島の自然を感じることができました。
メインの夕陽と星空も堪能できました。夕陽は少し雲が多かったですが、それでも十分に神秘的でした。星空は流れ星が観れるほど綺麗で、初めての経験でした。

ガイドのクリスさんが英語だけじゃなく、日本語でも解説してくださり、英語ができない私たちでも安心して過ごせました。

It was stated that there would be an English guide, but on the day of the tour, we had a Japanese guide, and I was able to participate in the tour very happily! The guide provided detailed explanations about the stars, which was also educational! I was worried because it was cloudy that day, but when night fell, the sky was filled with stars, and I was truly moved!

My fiancée and I had such an amazing time on this trip. The crew was fun and added to the whole experience.

I was able to see a wonderful starry sky. Our guide, James, was a friendly nice guy, and we had a great time. This is a tour that everyone should experience at least once.

I participated in the English tour. We were the only Japanese group, but the guide was fluent in Japanese and provided explanations in Japanese at each point, which made me feel at ease.

The dinner they prepared (a sandwich from a famous shop) was incredibly delicious, and I will never forget the taste while enjoying the sunset at the summit.

The experience of being taken by car to a place higher than Mount Fuji is something very precious that you can only experience here.

We also got to observe the stars at a high-altitude spot exclusive to this tour. While enjoying the warm cocoa they provided, I was thrilled to spot the "Southern Cross," which is hard to see from Japan.

英語ツアーで参加しました。日本人参加グループは私たちだけでしたが、ガイドさんは日本語も堪能で、ポイントごとに日本語で説明してくれて安心しました。
用意してくれた夕食（有名店のサンドイッチ）がとても美味しくて、山頂での夕日を眺めながら食べた味は一生忘れません。
富士山よりも高い場所へ車で連れて行ってくれる体験は、ここでしか味わえないとても貴重なものだと思います。
星空観測もこのツアー限定のかなり標高の高い場所で見せてもらえました。用意してくれた暖かいココアをいただきながら、日本からはなかなか見られない「南十字星」を見つけて大はしゃぎしました。

I felt安心 (safe) participating with a guide who could speak Japanese. I joined the tour on the day a volcano erupted, so I was able to take photos of the volcano from the summit. The oxygen was quite thin at the top, and I felt a bit dizzy, haha. I thought it might be good to have a little more caution, but no one in our tour experienced any health issues. The journey and the scenery along the way were also very enjoyable.

日本語を話せるガイドさんで安心して参加できました。
ちょうど火山が噴火した日に参加したので山頂からボルケーノを写真に残すことができました。
山頂はかなり酸素が薄く結構フラフラしました笑
もう少し注意喚起をしたほうがいいのでは？とも思いましたが、我々のツアーでは体調不良者は1人も出ませんでした。

I didn't understand half of the explanations in English, but I was very satisfied with the guide's performance, including gestures and body language. Interacting with wild horses, the 400-meter waterfall, and plenty of highlights made it a great experience.

英語ガイドのため、説明の半分もわかりませんでした。しかし、ガイドさんの身ぶり、手ぶりをふくめたパホーマンスで十分満足できました。野生の馬とのふれあい、400メートル級の滝、見どころ満載でした。

Going to the summit of Mauna Kea is an incredible experience. It felt like being on Mars and seeing the clouds below you and the sunset felt surreal. We were also lucky enough to see the glow of the lava from the volcano from there. Hawaiian Eyes Tour with Chris was a seamless experience. Chris gave lots of interesting information about the area and took a lot of care with our safety. I highly recommend this experience; it’s well worth the cost!

I saw the most amazing sunset of my life at the summit of Mauna Kea! Our guide, James, was very considerate of us, even though we didn't understand much English, and it made for a wonderful trip!

The Mauna Kea Stargazing Tour with Epic Tours was an unforgettable experience and one of the most memorable nights of our Hawaii trip. The set up telescopes and explanation of everything was an engaging and easy-to-understand way of seeing Mauna Kea

I wasn't expecting much due to some clouds, but the sea of clouds at the summit was absolutely stunning! Also, the sunset was very beautiful, and as I watched, the starry sky gradually became clearer, allowing me to see a full sky of stars in the end!

You can take a lot of photos, so definitely capture various landscapes and moments!

I had always wanted to visit Mauna Kea when I went to the Big Island of Hawaii, and I participated alone.

The weather was clear, and I was moved by the sunset and the starry sky from a place higher than Mount Fuji. Unfortunately, it was a full moon, so I want to try again during a new moon next time.

The tour was primarily in English, but our guide, Wes, was fluent in Japanese and very friendly, which made it a lot of fun.

ハワイ島に行ったら行きたい！と思っていたマウナケア。1人で参加しました。

天気も快晴で、富士山よりも高い場所からのサンセット、星空に感動。あいにく満月だったので、次回は新月の時にリベンジしたいです。

ツアーは基本英語でしたが、ガイドのウェスさんは日本語達者&気さくな方で、とても楽しめました。

Unfortunately, due to the rain followed by clouds, we couldn't see the starry sky at all, and we only caught a glimpse of the sunset from the mountain peak. There's nothing we can do about it.

One thing that caught my attention was that the voucher mentioned to give about 10% of the total cost as a tip to the guide, but after the tour, the American guests just left without tipping. It felt like I was the fool for following the voucher's instructions.

In fact, during the trekking tour at Kilauea Volcano National Park, the American guests also did not tip (I did, though). To prevent other customers from Japan from feeling foolish, I wish they would stop including tipping instructions on the voucher. It feels like being deceived.

運悪く雨のち曇りだったため、星空は全く見えず、辛うじて山頂の夕日ぐらいでした。仕方が無い。
気になったこととしてバウチャーには、全体費用の10%ぐらいをチップとしてガイドさんに渡せと書いていましたが、ツアーが終わるとアメリカ人の方は何食わぬ顔でそのまま行ってしまった。バウチャー通りにチップを渡したこちらがバカを見た感じでした。
実際、キラウエア火山国立公園のトレッキングツアーでも、アメリカ人のお客様はチップを渡しませんでした。(僕は渡したが)
日本から来るほかのお客様がバカを見ないためにも、もうバウチャーにチップどうこう書くのを辞めてもらいたい。騙されている気分。

The explanation was easy to understand, and I learned a lot. I would like to use this service again next time. They provided warm winter clothing, and I enjoyed hot cocoa while stargazing. It was very comforting.

わかりやすい説明、いろいろ教えてもらいました。また、次回利用したいです。暖かい防寒着上下あって、後、星空観測の時ホットココアいただきました。あったまりました。

Basically, the guide spoke in English, but important points were also explained in Japanese.

Once we reached the summit, the guide actively took photos and provided explanations.

During the stargazing, we didn't just look at the stars; we were divided into Japanese and English groups, and we received very detailed information about star names, constellations, and their origins.

Overall, it was a highly satisfying tour. Thank you very much.

It started off with a bit of anxiety due to the cloudy forecast, but I was truly moved by the beautiful sunset and the stargazing!

There was a lecture on breathing techniques to prevent altitude sickness, and the attention to detail made me feel secure participating. I had heard that there would be an English guide, but it was very helpful that they also provided guidance in Japanese as needed. The light snack sandwiches were delicious too!

I really enjoyed the stunning scenery and had a wonderful time. Thank you very much!

The guide (Chris) provided incredibly informative explanations!

From the formation of the Big Island, Mauna Kea, and Mauna Loa, to stories about Japan's pride, baseball player Shohei Ohtani. The drive to the summit was long, but I was never bored at all. I truly appreciated the guide's expertise! Thank you for the memories on the Big Island!

ハワイ島、マウナケア山、マウナロア山の成り立ちから、はたまた日本が誇るベースボールプレイヤーの大谷翔平さんの話を交えて。山頂までのドライブは長いですが、まったく飽きなかったです。　　さすがはガイドさんと思いました！　　　ハワイ島での思い出をありがとうございました！

The guide, who spoke Japanese, provided detailed explanations in Japanese since there were many Japanese participants. Throughout the journey, I was never bored as they shared information about the Big Island, the flowers we saw along the way, and the wild goats.

As the car climbed the mountain, I was worried that the road to the summit might be closed due to the thick fog, but once we got through it, I was amazed to see the blue sky at the top. The sunset sinking into the sea of clouds was incredibly beautiful.

The starry sky afterward was also stunning, and the guide pointed out the Southern Cross, which is said to be visible only during this time of year. Perhaps because it was the day of the Kilauea volcano eruption, we could see smoke and a faint red light in the night sky, which even showed up in the photos we took.

日本語も話せるガイドさんが、日本人が多かったので日本語でも丁寧に説明してくれました。道中もハワイ島についてや、周りに見える花、野生のヤギについてなど教えてくれて飽きませんでした。
車が山を登るにつれ、途中まではすごい霧で頂上までの道が閉鎖されないか不安でしたが無事に抜けると、頂上は青空が広がっていたのに驚きました。雲海に沈む夕日が最高にきれいでした。
その後の星空もよく見え、この時期にだけよく見えるという南十字星など教えてもらいました。ちょうどキラウェア火山が噴火した日だからか、噴煙や、暗くなってからはわずかに赤い光が夜空に見え、撮ってもらった写真にも写っていました。
とても貴重な体験をありがとうございました。

It seems that only residents are allowed, and it looks tough to go without a powerful 4WD and skills for driving on steep slopes. Therefore, I think it's better to join a tour.

The driver was kind and provided various explanations. However, since he wasn't fluent in English, there were many things I didn't understand, but I still had a great time.

The area below the cliffs was much larger and more magnificent than I expected. It was a pity that there was no water flowing over the waterfall, but I was satisfied with the grand view.

Driving through the river and stopping the car when wild horses approached made the tour enjoyable for the guests. I think this is a recommended tour where you can enjoy wonderful scenery and a wild drive.

住民以外はＮＧのようだし、行くにも強力な四駆と両急斜面の運転に長けていないと厳しそう。なのでツアーに参加するのがベターだと思います。
ドライバーは親切だし、色々と説明もしてくれます。ただし、英語が堪能でないので、判らないところだらけでしたが、それでも充分に楽しめました。
断崖の下は思ったよりもずっと広く、壮大でした。
滝に水が流れ落ちてなかったのは残念でしたが、その雄大な眺めに満足できました。
川の中を車で走ったり、野生の馬が近づいてくると車を止めてくれたり、ツアー客を楽しませてくれました。
素晴らしい景色とワイルドなドライブを楽しめるオススメのツアーだと思います。

I actually wanted to join the sunrise tour at the summit, but due to scheduling conflicts, I signed up for the sunset tour instead.

As a result, it was an incredibly satisfying tour!

◾️ About the guide
I was a bit anxious about having an English-speaking guide, but the guide made a great effort to explain important points in Japanese using a translation device.
That said, most of the tour was in English, so I was mostly lost during the journey (laughs).

However, the guide's personality was wonderful, and they were always considerate, making it easy to enjoy the tour.

The day before the tour, we drove from Kona to Hilo in a rental car, and while driving on the same route as the tour, we were suddenly hit by a heavy downpour and dense fog that made it impossible to see in front of us, which was quite scary.

However, the guide was experienced in driving, so even in similar weather conditions, they drove smoothly, allowing us to feel safe during the ride. It was reassuring.

◾️ Tour flow
We boarded the shuttle bus at Queens Market, but the meeting point was somewhat hard to find.
It said "shuttle bus stop," but I don't recall seeing any bus signs.

There was a nearby shop mentioned in the directions, but it seemed to be closed, so it wasn't helpful.

There was an area where it seemed like a bus could enter, and since there were people who appeared to be participants (including from other tour companies) waiting there, we waited and felt relieved when the bus arrived.

There were about ten participants in total, from various nationalities.

The elevation increased rapidly, and the guide encouraged us to take deep breaths several times during the journey.
We took a break at the Onizuka Visitor Center, where we had a delicious BLT sandwich and water.

At this point, the temperature had dropped significantly, but it wasn't as cold as mid-winter.

After leaving the visitor center, we suddenly hit the off-road section, and the bumps became quite intense.
If you're prone to motion sickness, it might be a good idea to bring some medication.
Additionally, due to the high altitude, I felt a bit short of breath.

However, the scenery around us was so beautiful that I didn't even have the luxury of feeling unwell.
It was a view that you could never see in Japan, almost as if we had landed on another planet in space.

As we approached the summit, the guide took us to several photo spots.
The views were so magnificent that I couldn't help but exclaim in awe.
The guide also took photos for us and suggested various poses, capturing some creative shots!

At this point, it was extremely cold.
Hats, earmuffs, and gloves are essential.
The jacket provided was thick and warm.

There are portable toilets near the summit, so as long as you can hold out from the visitor center to the summit (which takes a little over an hour), you don't have to worry about restroom breaks.

Before we knew it, the sun set, revealing a breathtaking view that words cannot describe.
The scenery changed so beautifully that I couldn't take my eyes off it for even a second.

After the sun went down, we headed to the stargazing point.
Here, we were served warm cocoa.

We then joined another tour group, and their guide mainly led the stargazing.
This guide was fluent in Japanese and explained all the constellations in Japanese.

While they were explaining, I realized that the sky was filled with countless stars.
We even observed the eruption of Kilauea volcano in the distance between the stars.

I was surprised to learn that what I thought was a star moving strangely was actually a satellite.

Finally, the guide took group photos with a DSLR camera for each group.
The photos, which couldn't be captured with a smartphone, were breathtakingly beautiful and became the perfect proof of my existence in this stunning scenery.

After that, we headed back.
We took a restroom break along the way and returned to Queens Market around 10 PM.

本当は山頂日の出ツアーに参加したかったのですが、旅行のスケジュールが合わなかったため夕日ツアーに申し込みました。

結果、大満足のツアーでした！

◾️ガイドさんについて
英語ガイドということで不安でしたが、ガイドさんは時折重要な項目は翻訳機能を使いながら一生懸命日本語で説明してくださいました。
…と言ってもほとんど英語なので道中はほぼチンプンカンプンです（笑）

しかしながら、ガイドさんのお人柄がとってもよく、常に気遣っていただき居心地良くツアーを楽しむことができました。

ツアーの前日に我々はコナからヒロにレンタカーで移動したのですが、今回のツアーでも通る道を走ったところ、突然の大雨や目の前が全く見えなくなるほどの濃霧に見舞われ、非常に怖い道中でした。

しかしガイドさんは運転に慣れていらっしゃるので同じような気象条件でもスムーズに運転してくださり、安心して乗車することができました。
心強かったです。

◾️ツアーの流れ
クイーンズマーケットから乗車したのですが、集合場所は一見わかりにくかったです。
シャトルバス乗り場、とありましたが特にバスの看板もなかったような気がします。

近くのショップ名が案内にありましたが閉業していたようで？、参考になりませんでした。

なんとなくバスが乗り入れられそうなエリアがあったのですが、そこにツアー参加者と思しき方々が集まっておられたので(他社ツアー含む)、なんとなく待っていたらバスが到着して安心しました。

一緒に参加する方々は10名ほど。
様々な国籍の方がいらっしゃいました。

あっという間に標高が上がって行きますが、道中ガイドさんが何度も深呼吸を促してくださいました。
その後オニヅカビジターセンターで休憩しますが、ここでBLTサンドとお水をいただきます。
とっで美味しいサンドでした！

この時点で気温はぐっと下がっていますが、真冬のような寒さではありません。

このビジターセンターを出ると、一気にオフロードになり、ガタガタとした揺れが激しくなってきます。
乗り物酔いをしやすい方は薬を持って行った方がいいかもしれません。
さらにかなり標高が高いため、少し息苦しさも感じたように思います。

しかし周りの景色があまりにも美しく、具合が悪くなっていく余裕すらなかったです。
日本では決してみることのできない、むしろ地球を飛び出して宇宙の別の惑星に降り立ったかのような景色でした。

頂上付近に差し掛かると、写真撮影スポットに何ヶ所か案内していただきます。
思わず歓声を上げてしまうほど壮大な景色でした。
ガイドさんも写真を撮ってくださいますし、さまざまなポーズを提案してくれてアイデアに溢れたショットも撮っていただくことができました！

この辺りからは極寒です。
帽子や耳当て、手袋は必須になります。
貸し出してくださったジャケットは厚手で暖かかったです。

頂上付近には仮設トイレがありますので、ビジターセンターから頂上まで耐えれば(1時間ちょっとくらい？)トイレの心配はありません。

あっという間に日が沈み、言葉では言い表せないほどの絶景が広がります。
1秒も目が離せないほど美しい景色が移ろいでいきました。

日が沈むと少し降って星空観測ポイントに行きます。
こちらでは温かいココアを振る舞ってくださいました。

そして別のツアーグループと合流して、そちらのガイドさんが主に星空をガイドしてくださいました。
この方は日本語がお上手で、星座の名前も全て日本語で説明してくださいました。

説明していただいている間に、気づけば満点の星空が広がっていました。
さらに星空の合間にキラウエア火山の噴火を遠くに観測することも。

奇妙な動きをしている星があるかと思えば、人工衛星だと教えていただき非常に驚きました。

最後はガイドさんのカメラでグループごとに一眼レフカメラで写真を撮っていただきます。
スマホでは撮ることのできないその写真が、息をのむほど美しく、この絶景に自分が存在していることを証明してくれる最高の一枚となりました。

その後帰路に着きます。
途中でトイレ休憩を挟み、22時くらいにクイーンズマーケットに戻りました。
英語が堪能ではないのでうまくガイドさんに感謝を伝えられなかったのが心残りです。

短いハワイ島滞在でしたが、このツアーに参加して本当に良かったです。
映像や写真では感じることのできない自然の壮大なパワーを感じ、本当に感動しました。
