Had a great time at the Royal Hawaiian luau this week. It was much more than simply hula dancing and a fire show. The performances were short acts telling the story of the Hawaiian culture and history through song and dance. I could feel the passion for Hawaii in the host of the evening as he was setting the scene for each act. Interestingly, he was one of the actors in the original Hawaii 5.0!

Before the show started, it was fun to learn and actually see the process of how Hawaiian people made the material for their clothing. It was actually made of out sticks!

Food was plentiful and tasty with lots of variety. Highly recommended experience. The setting was beautiful on the lawn with the beach and an amazing view of Diamond Head in the background. A very special evening!

Hilton Waikiki Starlight Luau with Fire Dancers, Hula Show & Dinner Buffet

My friends and I had a great time at the Waikiki Starlight Luau!
The location is very convenient and we could just walk from our our hotel. Once we arrived the check-in was fast and we had a friendly staff greeting us with a Hawaiian lei and a welcome drink, nothing better than start the night with a Mai Tai! The food was very delicious and I love the variety of the food, specially the salads. It's great that they have a station specially for the kids.
The show was wonderful, full of delightful performances. My favorite part was the fire knife dance and to learn more about the other Polynesian cultures like Tonga, New Zeland, Samoa and Tahiti.
I would for sure come back to the this luau!

Certainly the Most Unique Show in Waikiki

Whatever your preferences are, you'll probably only have one chance in your life to see Elvis perform live on stage with a group of talented Polynesian dancers. Throw in a pretty great luau dinner and you can begin to see why this show is so popular. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the artists that were featured that night, but it is still really entertaining to see a group of people so devoted to their craft. I highly recommend this for couples staying in Waikiki.

What a wonderful evening. Perfect location, beach front right at the heart of Waikiki, with a beautiful views from Diamond Head. The Royal Hawaiian Hotel is the most tradition hotel in Waikiki, the staff is very friendly and always ready to help you.
Before the dinner and the show start you can learn more about Hawaiian traditions. The buffet has a big variety of dishes and the food was very tasty. The drinks were very good too.
The storytelling of the show is very interesting they talk about Hawaiian history starting when the first Polynesians arrived, passing by the Royalty time and until it became the 50th state. The dancers and the singers are fantastic!
Great evening under the starts, good food and friends. I would definitely come back again and I I recommend Aha Aina Luau to everybody!

If you're not proficient in English, it might be tough. Over 90% of the participants are American tourists. This isn't specific to this tour, but many American travelers who don't live in Hawaii have some resistance towards Asians (especially older couples), and there are those who openly dislike being around them. If you can't communicate well enough to make jokes, dining at the same table can feel awkward. For someone like me, who struggles with English, the show felt too long and I got bored halfway through. It's a genuine luau show, but if you just want to experience the atmosphere a bit, I recommend a different tour.

We participated as a family of four, and while the food was delicious, I felt it was a bit expensive for the content of the dishes. Also, the venue was hard to find, and it took a while to reach the elevator! The show was in the front row, so it was powerful and truly impressive. I still enjoy watching the video. My grandchild was thrilled to have their favorite turtle tattooed on their arm. We had a wonderful night in Hawaii!

I thought this would be like a small Disneyland. It was, but in many ways so much better. We were greeted by helpful and enthusiastic young people who pointed us in the right direction. The staff consists of college kids who come from a variety of Pacific islands. We visited five of the six "villages", watching a show/demo at each. There were several performers but, at each, one mature person engaged the audience. They were descendants of that culture who told us fascinating stories and were often very funny. We took a boat ride down the river before watching the 15-minute movie "Hawaiian Journey." It's billed as a "breathtaking journey for the senses" and it was. Few people seemed to notice that there were speakers in the headrest of each chair. The music and sounds made me feel as if I were actually traveling through the beauty of Hawaii. Our ticket included dinner, which was good. The highlight of the day for me was the show afterwards: "Ha--Breath of life." It was amazing... and breathtaking; definitely on a par with Cirque du Soleil. The performances, set, lighting and choreography were amazing. They even served ice cream during the 10-minute intermission! It was a wonderful experience that gave me a better appreciation for the Polynesian people and their cultures.

Since we had a Japanese guide, even our small children (a second grader and a kindergartener) were able to understand and have a meaningful time. I believe that having a Japanese guide is essential when traveling abroad with kids!

As soon as we came upstairs to the luau, we were promptly met by the luau staff and directed to our table. On the way there, the dancers greeted us with leis and we received welcome Mai Tais. They have regular and virgin Mai Tais, which were good! Our drinks were never empty and the buffet line went smooth. Try the salad, chicken, and the poi - an excellent combination! The best dessert was the haupia and I also tried some bread pudding - both were very tasty. The show started with the MC singing a beautiful rendition of an American melody in Hawaiian verse. The dancers were excellent and the whole show is well worth seeing if you are in Waikiki.

I participated during a company trip. For those who know Presley, it must be irresistible! I also enjoyed it since Michael Jackson and Celine Dion are from my generation. The dining area is on the first floor, with one drink included (cocktail show) on the second floor, and the show only is at the back of the second floor. Even with a last-minute entry, I was in the second row from the front on the second floor. If you enter early, the front row would be... I think it would be fun. Note: The air conditioning is effective, so it's better to have something to wear.

I understand that it's difficult for small children to sit still. Dining out can be challenging, but here, the spacious grounds with grass and sand allow the kids to run around freely for about an hour after the tour bus arrives and before the buffet starts!

Above all, you can enjoy the unique "sunset over the ocean" that the west side offers. Adults can relax with a drink in hand while soaking in the beautiful sunset, feeling like they've traveled to another island.

The show is also enjoyable, and when it gets dark during the fire dance, looking up at the sky reveals a breathtaking starry night!

Our family was very satisfied!

I was attracted to the fact that it wasn't an ordinary show, so I made a reservation. I was really excited to see the impersonators of Michael Jackson and Celine Dion! However, I was disappointed that Lady Gaga, who was mentioned in the reviews, didn't show up. Since Elvis Presley is from a different generation, I couldn't really connect with him. I was unsure about including dinner, but we ended up just reserving seats.

Even from the second floor, you can enjoy the show enough, and I had the impression that having dinner in that place might be a bit too distracting, so in the end, I’m glad we chose this plan!

As it was a traditional show, there were a lot of people watching. I'm not sure if reservations are absolutely necessary, but I think the day we went it was fully booked. The show was quite impressive, and I believe it's worth seeing at least once. However, being outdoors, it is very much affected by the weather, which is a downside. We watched it in the rain, which was quite disappointing. That said, there's nothing we can do about the weather, so for those interested, I definitely recommend it!

伝統的なショウだけあって見る人は大勢いました。
予約が絶対必要かは分かりませんが、僕たちが行った日は満席だったと思います。
ショウもなかなか迫力のあるもので、一度は見ても損しないと思います。

The content of the show was very good. The host was entertaining and it was lively. However, as everyone has mentioned, it wasn't exactly a smooth dining experience. The buffet style is nice, but there was a long line. The quality of the food isn't terrible, but it's best not to have high expectations.

ただ、みなさん書いている通りスムーズに食事を頂く…という感じではありません。
ブッフェ形式なのは良いのですが、長蛇の列です。

We had a great time at the Luau. We came to Oahu for our honeymoon. All the entertainment of the activities and the Luau itself was fun. If you never been to a Luau I recommend this one.

Presley was incredibly cool!! He came right up close, and the fan service was amazing, as expected! It was an American show. The quality was high! The singing was very good, and even if you're not familiar with the singers or songs, you can still enjoy it completely. I felt a bit floaty and dreamy for a while, haha. I want to go again!!!!

I participated with two friends from Brazil in their 60s, two mothers in their 60s, and my husband. Thanks to the lively guide on the bus, everyone was in high spirits.

We were the only Japanese people on the bus and at the venue. I was surprised to find a place in Hawaii with so few Japanese visitors.

There are various paid and free activities before the show starts, and they are all very exciting. Even if you don't participate in the activities, watching the sunset over the ocean is truly magnificent, and seeing the hula in that setting is very moving.

Everything is in English, and I didn't encounter any staff who spoke Japanese, but you can still enjoy it with simple English.

The food was just okay.

The bus ride was about 40 minutes long.

60代ブラジルからの友人、60代母2人、旦那さんと参加しました。バスの中から盛り上げ上手なガイドさんのおかげで皆さんテンションが高いです。
日本人はバスの中でも、会場に着いてからも、私達だけでした。ハワイでこんなに日本人のいない場所があるんだなぁ、と。
ショーが始まるまで様々な有料・無料のアクティビティがありますが、どれもとても盛り上がるものばかり。アクティビティに参加せずとも、海に日が沈んでいく様はとても壮大で、その中でフラを見るのはとても感動的ですよ。
全て英語ですし、日本語を話すスタッフには出会いませんでしたが、簡単な英語でも楽しめます。
食事はまぁこんもんて感じです。
