In June, I participated in this tour. When I first tried snorkeling, I struggled and couldn't really see much underwater, which was a disaster. So, I really hesitated about joining this time, but after reading other people's experiences, I decided to go for it.

As a result, I received really kind and thorough instruction from Chieko and Dan, and I am truly grateful to them. I was scared to even put my face in the water and thought I might not be able to do it, but Dan told me to breathe slowly and relax, holding my hand tightly. Then, the tour with six people started! Chieko took over and guided us, swimming while holding our hands. Gradually, my fear disappeared, and when we spotted fish, Chieko would call out and even tell us their names, which made me very happy.

Since the rocks are very close, I recommend borrowing a wetsuit. It helps those who are not very good at swimming to float more easily and prevents injuries. The snorkel I borrowed here ensures that as long as you can breathe through your mouth, no water will come in, so for those who are anxious like me or not confident in swimming, you can definitely participate. If I could do it, anyone can... haha.

Swimming for almost an hour can be quite tiring, but seeing the fish makes all the fatigue disappear. If you want to get out, they will take you back to shore.

Lastly, there can be some seasickness, so I think it's a good idea for those prone to motion sickness to take medication beforehand. Thank you so much, Chieko, for holding my hand and swimming with me until the very end. I had the experience of swimming with fish in the ocean for the first time. I am grateful.

　6月、このツアーに参加させていただきました。初めてシュノーケルした時は、上手く出来ずろくに海の中を見る余裕もなく最悪だったので今回参加するにあたって本当に悩みましたが他の方の体験談を読み思い切って参加させていただきました。
結果、本当に親切丁寧に教えてくださってチエコさんダンさんには本当にお世話になりました。顔をつけるところから怖くて無理かなあ？と思っていたところ、ダンさんがゆっくり息をしてください。力抜いてくださいと言って手をしっかり握ってくださいました。そして、6名でのツアースタート！チエコさんに交代してみんなの後をしっかり手をひっぱって泳いでくれました。だんだん怖さもなくなり、魚をみつけてはチエコさんが声をかけてくださって、お魚の名前も教えてくれたり、うれしかったです。岩がとっても近いのでウエットスーツを借りることをおすすめします。泳ぎがあまり得意でない方は浮きやすくなりますし、ケガ防止にもなります。こちらでお借りしたシュノーケルは呼吸さえ口で出来れば絶対に水が入ってくることはありませんので、私のように不安のある方、泳ぎが得意でない方、参加を迷われてる方、大丈夫です。私でもできましたから。。。。笑
1時間近く泳ぎっぱなしでかなり疲れますがお魚さんを見たら疲れも吹っ飛びますよ。上がりたくなれば沖まで連れて行ってくれます。
最後に波酔いがありますので、船酔いしやすい方は薬を飲んでいくといいと思います。
本当にチエコさん最後の最後まで手を引っ張って泳いで下さりありがとうございました。はじめて海の中をお魚さんと一緒に泳げるという体験をさせていただきました。感謝しています。

I found this review very helpful, so I’d like to share my thoughts as well.

I participated with my 6-year-old daughter, who just turned six, and my parents in their 70s, making it a three-generation outing.

Renting a wetsuit was essential, especially for slim individuals, children, and the elderly. It gets surprisingly cold floating in the sea for a long time without a wetsuit, and after seeing the dolphins, when the boat moves to the snorkeling spot, it’s really cold with the wind on a wet body. By the way, it was sunny at the end of June. Everyone on the trip was wearing one.

My daughter wore a swimsuit, a short-sleeve rash guard, rash leggings, and a rented wetsuit that was long-sleeved and shorts. Even with that, she was shivering and had blue lips after getting out of the water. I thought maybe I should have gotten her a thicker, warmer long-sleeve and long-pants rash guard. Since children are just floating and not swimming hard, they get colder more easily.

After snorkeling, my daughter was so cold that she wanted to take off her wet swimsuit immediately, so she quickly changed into her regular clothes on the boat while shivering, put on a windbreaker, and finally stopped shivering once she wore a down jacket. I think it would be reassuring to bring a compact ultra-down jacket from Uniqlo for children who get cold easily.

A children's pool towel with a hood and snaps is convenient for changing anywhere. A super absorbent, quick-drying, ultra-thin chamois towel was also very handy. No matter how many beach towels you have from the hotel, it’s never enough.

By the way, my daughter could do a face-down flutter kick and had her first snorkeling experience at Hanauma Bay the day before. My husband went into the sea first, and the staff helped lower my daughter from the boat, where my husband caught her below. From the boat to the water's surface, it’s close enough that you can sit and your feet won’t reach, but it’s not a scary height. Everyone else jumped in from standing, but since we were last in line, my mother and I sat down and slipped into the sea. They also provide floatation devices. The support and encouragement from the staff were experienced and made me feel really safe while snorkeling.

I recommend the dissolvable motion sickness tablets. I usually get seasick even with a float, but this time I was perfectly fine.

Juri, the class representative, was just like a class representative should be—very caring and someone you can rely on. I was really satisfied with the thoughtful consideration and kindness she showed, and I’m so glad I participated. The bus ride was refreshing and fun, with a very clear guide. I made truly wonderful memories.

I will definitely choose Dolphin Academy again next time! Thank you very much!

6歳になったばかりの年長さんの娘と、70代の両親と３世代での参加です。

ウェットスーツのレンタルは必須でした。特に細身の方。お子様やお年寄り。必須です！
海で長時間浮かんでいるのも、ウェットスーツが無いと、思いのほか寒くなってくるので耐えられないのと、イルカを見た後、船がシュノーケルスポットへ移動する時も、濡れた体で風を受けるので、ウェットスーツ着ていないと寒くて無理です！
ちなみに6月末で晴天です。　
参加者全員着用してました。

娘は水着+半袖ラッシュガード+ラッシュレギンス+レンタルのウェットスーツは長袖半ズボンで、それでも海から上がるとガタガタ震えて唇青くて。。
もっと上下厚手の保温タイプの長袖長ズボンラッシュにしてあげれば良かったかな～くらいな感じです。子供は特に浮かんでいるだけなので、一生懸命泳がないから余計寒いのですね。

シュノーケルが終わると、娘は寒すぎて、濡れた水着をすぐに脱ぎたがりましたので、船上で震えながらもパパッと普段着に着替え、防風ウィンドブレーカーをはおり、更にダウンジャケットでようやく震えが止まった様子。
寒がりなお子様にはコンパクトなユ○クロのウルトラダウンみたいなのを是非念のためお持ちになると安心だと思います。

フードやスナップのついた子供用のプールタオルは何処でもお着替えが出来て便利。
タオルも超吸水、超速乾、超薄のセームタオルが便利でした。ホテルのビーチタオルでは何枚あっても足りません。

ちなみに娘は顔付ばた足が出来る程度で、前日にハナウマ湾で初めてシュノーケルを経験した所。
パパが先に海におりて、船上からスタッフの方に娘を抱き下ろしてもらい、パパが下で受け取る形。船から水面は、座って足は届かないけれど、かなり近いです。皆さん立って足から飛び降りる感じですが、順番の最後だったので、私や母は座ってから、足からスルッと海に降りました。怖くない高さです。
浮き棒等貸して下さいます。
サポートも声掛けもベテランで、本当に安心してシュノーケル出来ました。

舐めるタイプの酔止めはおすすめです。普段浮き輪でも酔う私ですが、今回はバッチリでした。

学級委員のじゅりさんが、まさに学級委員って感じで、とっても面倒見がよくて思わず頼りたくなる本当に素敵な方で、細やかな配慮と優しい気配りで、こちらに参加して本当に良かったと大満足でした。
バスの中でも爽やかで楽しくて、とても分かりやすいガイドをして頂きました。本当に素敵な思い出が出来ました。

また次回も必ずイルカ中学を選びます！本当にありがとうございました！

Fantastic Morning Dolphins and You Ocean Fun Cruise!

We had a great morning cruise with Dolphins and You. The local crew (certified life guards and professional entertainers!) were very friendly and full of energy. They explained everything in both English and Japanese since there were quite a large number of Japanese tourists on our 40 person tour. There was music and dancing on the way to the spinner dolphin site. We sat at the back of the boat and enjoyed the sun and sea air; thank goodness we had lots of sunscreen! I wear glasses and there were prescription masks on the boat so I could see everything clearly.

The crew-led Hawaiian chant and orchid offering when we entered the dolphin site brought us good luck. The crew went in the water with us and pointed out several pods of dolphins swimming right by. I wanted to stay with the dolphins longer, but we had another scheduled stop. At the snorkeling site, a sea turtle swam right under our group and there were lots of fish all around. The inflatable water slide, “surfboard” and kayak added to the fun. For lunch we had cheeseburgers on taro buns with bags of chips — very tasty. The crew sang and danced a couple of hulas on the way back; a perfect ending to a great morning!

We drove from our hotel, arrived at the Waianae Boat Harbor early, and were a little concerned when we didn’t see any signs for Dolphins and You. However, a bus with Dolphins and You on the side pulled into the parking lot right where they said to meet at the specified meeting time. Be sure to take Dramamine if you think you might get motion sickness. Several people on the cruise got sick, even though I didn’t think it was very rough. I took a Dramamine before we left on the Dolphins and You cruise and was fine (I had gotten sick on a previous snorkel trip to Molokini off of Maui). Definitely APPLY SUNSCREEN early and often...the sun is very strong on the water.

A morning on the *Swim with Dolphins Ocean Fun Cruise.*

We’ve been on snorkeling cruises in the past (some out of Waianae Boat Harbor) but never with this company. We visit Hawaii often (my wife was born and raised in the islands) we view island activities with a critical eye. This was a super dolphin/snorkel trip. The cruise is on a smaller boat, which has the advantage of offering a smaller group of people, a more intimate experience, and a little more adventurous ride - I like all three. Staff on these boats are there to 1. Offer safety 2. Offer service and 3. Offer fun and adventure. The Dolphin’s and You staff were excellent on all counts. I’ve seen the “fun” part on other boats get a little smarmy, but the staff on this boat really did a great job of encouraging people to participate and enjoy themselves without being overly “slick” or pushy. They also had some talented people who shared music I found enjoyable.
I take my own pictures with underwater stills and video. The videographer/photographer on the trip did a super job and was kind enough to show me some great shots while still attending to everyone on board. I wish I could say that about all the snorkeling/watching tours we’ve been on.
Overall I’d say this was a really good trip - for anyone - experienced or novice. Tips: If you have motion sickness, or aren’t sure if you have motion sickness, take dramamine. Do it. Take sunscreen - Use it. If you’re not familiar with photography (above and below water) leave your gear at home. Experience the trip and allow the professional the ship provides offer you some of the best shots you’ll ever see - most likely better images than you can take yourself. Fooling with gear and worrying about taking pictures, will detract from the memories you can make just being in the water and seeing the amazing things the crew will show you.
There are lifetime memories you can take away from a half-day trip like this. It might *seem* pricey to some, but I assure you that it is worth every cent and you’ll be ready for more.

We participated as a couple. After arriving in Hawaii, we struggled with the time difference and contacted them to see if we could change our schedule from morning to afternoon. Fortunately, we were able to move it to the following afternoon. They were flexible and accommodating, which we greatly appreciated.

Upon meeting Chieko, whose reliable yet gentle demeanor put us at ease, we were able to express our concerns right away, and she was very considerate throughout. After joining Dan and a family from Seattle, we received excellent support and were able to enjoy snorkeling with peace of mind.

We were thrilled to see a honu and even downloaded photos from Facebook. I took motion sickness medication, but my husband ended up feeling seasick, and I apologize for any concern that caused. However, we had a wonderful time! Thank you!

I've participated in the afternoon tour several times, but it seemed like the water level was lower before... This time, while walking to the sandbar, the water level reached about my mother's chest (she's 152 cm tall)... It was a bit disappointing, but there were very friendly sea turtles swimming around the boat, and the lunch was delicious. We gathered at the hotel entrance at 5:55 AM. Since it was June, which is typically a low season, there were about 20 participants, which the guide mentioned was about half the usual number. I felt that having a smaller group made the day more enjoyable.

We traveled by bus to the port (about an hour), and during that time, the guide's stories and videos were so interesting that there was no time to sleep. After waiting for about 15 minutes upon arrival at the port, we boarded the boat. The crew members were introduced, and we set off.

On this day, perhaps due to the strong winds, the waves were high, and the boat rocked quite a bit, causing a few people to feel unwell. About 20 minutes after departing, we had our first encounter with dolphins. We spotted a pod about 10 meters ahead, so we put on our goggles and fins and jumped in together. Unfortunately, during the first jump, the dolphins swam away, so we couldn't swim with them.

We returned to the boat and searched for another pod. About 15 minutes later, we found another group and jumped in again. We could purchase all the photos from the professional photographer on the way back (data for $60, USB for $65).

After returning to the boat, we had almost free time. We could eat the cheeseburgers made by the captain, snack on chips, do stand-up paddleboarding, or kayak. Most people chose to relax and eat on the boat.

Once everything was finished, we danced hula on the boat while heading back to the port. After arriving at the port, we took a short break before boarding the bus back to Waikiki. Most people were asleep on the bus.

The encounter rate with dolphins is said to be 90%, but we were fortunate to encounter them quickly, so I didn't feel the discomfort of the boat ride too much and was able to have a valuable experience.

船に戻って、また群れを探し、15分後くらいにまた群れを発見し飛び込みました。今度はうまく群れを見つけ、自分の泳ぐ真下を10頭くらいのイルカが泳いで通りました。今までにない体験で、ほんとに一緒に泳いでいるようで感動的な瞬間でした。みんなで喜びを分かち合いながら船に戻ります。
次はウミガメ探しのシュノーケリングです。20分くらい船で移動して、ウミガメの見つけやすいポイントでみんなで飛び込みます。飛び込んで、3分もしないうちにウミガメを見つけ、少し遠くから眺めます。その後、プロのカメラマンの方がいろいろなポーズで写真を撮ってくれます。プロのカメラマンの写真はは帰りに全て購入することができます。（データは60ドル、USBは65ドル）
みんなで船に戻った後はほぼ自由時間でした。船長が作るチーズバーガーを食べるもよし、チップスを食べるもよし、スタンディングパドルをするもよし、カヌーを漕ぐもよし、基本的には船上で食事をして休む人が多かったです。
すべてが終わって船でフラダンスを踊りながら港へ帰ります。
港へ着いてからは少し休憩してバスに乗り込み、ワイキキへ戻ります。バスの中では、ほとんどの方が眠っていました。
イルカとの遭遇率は90パーセントらしいですが、本当にすぐイルカとの遭遇できたので、船のつらさもそこまで感じずに、貴重な体験をすることができました。

This time, we were picked up from Ko Olina, so we arrived at the departure port early. (Last time, we were picked up from Waikiki, so we ended up spending quite a long time in the car.) Right after we set off, another tour found dolphins, so we were able to get into the water right away. During my previous participation, the waves were rough, and I could only see the dolphins swimming along the seabed, but this time they were swimming close to the surface, so we could see them within reach. Later, at another spot, we were able to see four sea turtles up close, and one came up to the surface to breathe right in front of my wife, which was very moving. I'm really glad I participated again this time. I would definitely like to join for a third time if the opportunity arises. I am very grateful for the guide's hospitality. I was nervous about snorkeling after a long time, but the lecture in the shallow water made me feel at ease. I had a great experience with a sea turtle swimming right in front of me. The sandbar itself didn't have as low tide as I expected, and it wasn't quite like the pictures, but the weather was nice, and the waves were calm, making it comfortable.

久しぶりのシュノーケルで緊張しましたが、浅瀬でのレクチャーがあり安心しました。ウミガメが目の前を泳いで良い体験できました。サンドバー自体は思ってたより潮がひかず、写真のイメージではなかったけど、お天気も良く波も穏やかで快適でした。

This was my second time participating, and I was once again very satisfied! I was able to swim with many dolphins. I'm usually scared to swim in the ocean where I can't touch the bottom, but in this activity, I had zero fear. For those who are anxious about swimming, they provide not only life jackets but also floatation devices, which is reassuring. It seems that swimming with spinner dolphins is something you can only do in Hawaii, so I highly recommend it. Our guide, Juli, was also fun and lively! The sandbar was incredibly beautiful and I was moved! We were blessed with great weather and got to see a large honu, creating wonderful memories! The guides were also very kind and easy to talk to, which left a great impression! I bought a sea band (anti-nausea band) here, and I really recommend it for those who are prone to motion sickness. I have a weak vestibular system that makes me dizzy even on airplanes, but wearing this band made the boat's swaying and even the return flight completely comfortable without any nausea!

We participated in the tour on June 24 with five people. Although the pickup was early in the morning, the staff's fun talks and the detailed explanations of the tour were appreciated. Once on the boat, the captain and the friendly crew naturally brought smiles to our faces. We swam with dolphins at the two locations they guided us to, and both times we encountered dolphins, which was an emotional and thrilling moment. We also saw sea turtles several times at the surface. This was my first dolphin tour, but thanks to the enjoyable guidance from the staff, as well as the boat burgers and hula dancing, we had a wonderful time. I have participated in similar tours several times, but thanks to the good weather, this time I saw the most beautiful sea I've ever seen. The snorkeling was a bit murky, but there were plenty of fish, and I was able to see turtles, which was great. Since I joined the morning session, there was a light meal included, but it was a buffet-style, so the amount was more than just a light snack! The bone-in short ribs were incredibly delicious! Also, turtles came to swim in the shallow waters, and I was able to see them up close. I want to participate again!

My husband and I were first time snorkelers. Dan picked us up promptly from our hotel and we had a lovely drive to Hanauma Bay. Dan explained everything to us and was very professional. We snorkeled at our own pace, but Dan and his wife were always watching to make sure that everyone in our group was safe. We were lucky enough to see four turtles as well as other fish. All necessary gear was provided. I highly recommend this tour!

We were picked up early in the morning from a nearby hotel, and our guide, Julie, was so energetic and fun. I learned a lot of interesting facts about dolphins.

I thought I could swim, but then I realized I had never swum in the ocean with a current before. At first, I couldn't really take care of my daughter, but Julie helped watch her, and gradually I was able to use the fins and keep up (sweating a bit).

We encountered dolphins three times, with as many as ten at one point. I brought an underwater camera, but the professional photographer dove down for us and was great at getting close to the dolphins and sea turtles. So, instead of floundering around, it might be wiser to pay about $50 and enjoy being photographed, then buy the professional pictures (since you'll want them anyway).

Anyway, Julie was great at keeping us entertained, and my daughter was totally into it, even participating in the final diving competition. It became a wonderful memory!

イルカには3回遭遇出来、多い時で10頭でした。水中でも撮れるカメラ持参でしたけど、プロのカメラマンさんは潜ってくれますし、イルカやウミガメのそばに行くのも上手なので、バタバタする位なら、50ドルほど払いますが、写される事を楽しんで、プロの写真を買った方が賢明かもしれません。（どうせ、欲しくなりますから）

とにかく、楽しませるのが上手で、娘はすっかりノリノリで、最後のダイビング大会も参加する始末。
良い思い出になりました！

Our shuttle time was for 9am and we’re were picked up at 8:59am in a 12 person van. It only took 20 minutes to get to the bay but then we had to wait for 15 minutes just to park and get out. Our drivers name was Diogo and he was super friendly and nice to look at too lol :) After being fitted for our gear we walked to the entrance and paid our $7.50 per person over 13 years to get in and watched a 10 minute video about the history of the bay. It’s a little ways to walk down to the bay and can be tiring to walk back up after snorkeling but they offer shuttle service for $1.25 each way or $2.50 for the day. Take the shuttle. There’s a snack bar at the top if you want a $4 precooked hotdog but it’s better to bring your own snacks. We got into the water at 10:15am and met back up with the driver at 2pm to go back to our hotel, again he was right on time. Overall the kids thought it was fun and we would do it again. The best snorkeling is off to the left side of the beach. The water gets clearer the further you go out.

It was an early departure, and I was sleepy at the start of the tour, but the bright and detailed explanations on the bus gradually made me feel more awake. By the time we arrived at the port, I was filled with excitement to meet the dolphins.

At first, the ceremony right after departure made us, as a shy couple, a bit anxious, but the cheerful communication at just the right distance quickly warmed our hearts. By the time we started singing, there was a sense of unity within the team!

When it came time to meet the dolphins, we were lucky to encounter them right away! Within about five minutes of departure, we jumped into the sea and met the dolphins immediately!

After that, we followed the instructor's directions and swam playfully like children, chasing the dolphins. I was so excited to see those adorable dolphins!

Afterward, we returned to the boat for a commemorative photo! The team was united, and there were many honeymooners among us, making the group photo while saying "Welcome, newlyweds!" a lot of fun!

Next, we changed snorkeling spots! This time, we encountered sea turtles, which was truly moving! Personally, I found the turtles even more touching! Their cuteness was number one!

As we were heading back to the port, a pod of dolphins appeared as if to say goodbye, which was heartwarming.

After that, I fell into a deep sleep on the return bus (laughs). It was an incredibly emotional experience for just half a day! It was the best experience where I could have fun like a child with my wife!
