I was surprised that the seats were more cramped than I expected, but the live performance made the time fly by. It's better to go with an empty stomach since the main course was served before departure! I mentioned my nut allergy twice, once when making the reservation and again on the day, but the macadamia nut gelato was served as is, so those with allergies should be careful. I boarded on Friday, and we were lucky with the weather, so we were able to see the fireworks. Although Japanese is not spoken, dancing to the YMCA with everyone was fun. There were also people who got married on that day, which was a heartwarming end to the trip. It became a wonderful travel memory!

The food and scenery were good, but on the third floor, it was mostly Asians eating lobster while an unknown jazz-like song kept playing. Up to that point, it was okay, but the final Polynesian dance show was long, and everyone ended up dancing to YMCA, making me feel like we had traveled back in time over 30 years. I think only Japanese people over 50 who experienced the bubble era could keep up with that vibe.

I was disappointed at the end of what was supposed to be an elegant cruise. I wouldn't particularly recommend it for honeymooning couples.

Starting with a welcome drink, I ordered a non-alcoholic strawberry frozen drink, and the lobster and filet steak were delicious. The Hawaiian dance welcomed us with Hawaiian music and dance before we boarded the ship, and they entertained us with a show right up until we disembarked. Regarding the boarding and disembarking location, it is near Aloha Tower, but there are almost no places to kill time in the vicinity. Additionally, it is not very popular until just before boarding time, and if you move a little away, there are hardly any restrooms (there are some at Aloha Tower, but if you go early, it feels deserted and a bit scary). In any case, it is not bustling like Kapiolani Park or Ala Moana Center; it is quite deserted. Also, there is an area nearby called Kalihi, which is known for its poor safety (it is said to be dangerous to go there by bus or on foot), so caution is needed to avoid accidentally stepping in.

(You can even see people acting erratically near Walmart around Aloha Tower.)

Disembarking around 9:00 PM when the surroundings are completely dark made searching for a bus feel dangerous. I ended up using a taxi, but I think it would be safer to arrange for a pickup in advance.

(アロハタワー周辺のウォルマート近辺でも発狂している人を目にするレベル。)

下船が夜の21：00ごろになり周囲も真っ暗な状態でバスを探すのは身の危険を感じました。私は結局タクシーを利用しましたが、あらかじめ送迎ありにするのが安全だと思います。

I went on a dinner cruise on Friday. Since I didn't specify a window seat, we ended up at a round table in the middle, seating three pairs of two. One pair was a Japanese newlywed couple, and the table next to us had three newlywed couples from Korea. I thought the lobster was smaller than I expected. The steak wasn't freshly cooked, which is understandable since we were on a boat, but it was tough. The dancing wasn't as lively as I had seen in the testimonials. We were picked up at the hotel and headed to the boarding!
First, we had a welcome drink (sparkling wine) and appetizers.
The appetizers included a salad on the table, and you could help yourself to fruits and cheese. The salad dressing was delicious!
After that, we enjoyed a whole lobster! It was followed by steak and dessert.
The food wasn't exceptionally delicious, but it was satisfactory for enjoying the atmosphere.

It was disappointing that the weather was bad and we couldn't see the sunset, but that's just luck. There's nothing we can do about it...

Since we had the kids with us, we chose the buffet. If it were just adults or a couple, a course dinner might be better. I wasn't particularly fond of the food, but after all, it's a buffet. I didn't have high expectations for the food to begin with, so I wasn't disappointed. I recommend lowering your expectations for the food when you take this tour, haha.

The show on the boat was fun! I enjoyed watching the Hawaiian and Polynesian dances since I like them. I wouldn't recommend this tour to those who aren't interested. The food isn't great, and if the weather is bad, you won't see the sunset, haha.

The deck where you can go outside is a smoking area, which was very disappointing. I don't smoke, and since we had the kids with us, it was uncomfortable. I wish they wouldn't set up a smoking area on a deck with a view.

If asked whether I would participate again, I would say no. But it wasn't bad. Overall, it was okay.

お外に出られるデッキはSmoking Areaになっているので、とても残念でした。タバコを吸わないうえ、子供たちも一緒だったので不快でした。せっかく景色が見えるデッキにSmoking Areaを設けないで欲しいです。

This was my second time on the Sunset Dinner Cruise, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first. From the moment I got on the bus, the staff were kind, and I felt safe enjoying myself from start to finish. Luck was on my side from the beginning of the trip, and on this day, I was able to see a beautiful rainbow. The food was served buffet-style, so I could eat just the right amount for my appetite, which is great for someone like me who has a small appetite, as well as for my family who likes to eat more. Going up to the deck to watch the sun set over the ocean was wonderful. We were blessed with great weather, which was the best part.

I went on the 5-Star cruise. I made a reservation with the Celebration Plan (guaranteed window seat) and paid for it, but I was booked under the regular plan. While the manager was confirming my reservation, I couldn't eat the food in front of me for about 30 minutes after being seated. In the end, it turned out that the reservation from VELTRA to Star of Honolulu was under the regular plan, and I was treated as such until the end. I never expected something like this to happen. I'm very disappointed.

Also, it seems that the shuttle bus got caught in traffic, so by the time we arrived, dinner had already started, and other guests who arrived earlier were enjoying their meals.

I thought there might be a separate entrance for the 5-Star guests, but there wasn't anything like that. We all lined up at one entrance to board the ship.

The schedule mentioned that there would be a welcome reception by the captain on the exclusive deck on the top floor for 5-Star guests, but there was nothing of the sort. We were just guided to line up and proceed into the ship.

結局、VELTRAからスターオブホノルルへの予約が通常プランだったそうで、最後まで通常プランとしての扱いとなりました。
こんなことが起きるなんて、思いもしませんでした。非常に残念で仕方ありません。

また、恐らく送迎バスが渋滞に巻き込まれたせいで、私たちが到着した頃にはすでにディナーは始まっており、先に着いていた他のお客さんは食事を楽しんでました。

乗船する際に5スター用の入口でもあるのかなと思ってましたが、特にそのようなものはなく、大勢で列に並んで一か所の入り口から乗船しました。

5スターだと「最上階の専用デッキでキャプテンによるウェルカムレセプションがある」というスケジュールが記載されていますが、そんなものは一切ありません。列になって船内に進むように案内されました。

料理も、特別おいしいものではなかったですね。普通です。お肉がフォークで切れるという記載がありますが、ナイフでがんばって切れるぐらいの感じでした。

私自身は何度かハワイに行ったことがあり、ヒルトンの花火については、いろいろな場所から見てますが、レインボータワーの南側のビーチに座って見るのが一番ですね。
クルーズ船から花火を見れたことは一つの経験にはなりましたが、遠くから見ることになるので、全然迫力はないです。

それから、下の階のお客さんが、普通に5スターのデッキに階段を上ってきてました。一応階段を上がった先にロープがありますが、手慣れた感じでフックを外して入って、またフックをかけてました。スタッフの方ではなく、一般のお客さんです。

年老いた母を含めた、最初で最後の海外旅行だろうと考えてましたので、このようなオプショナルツアーに大金と時間を使ったことが残念で仕方がないです。
