What I'm about to describe is a three-star cruise, so it might be different for a five-star one (but you probably shouldn't get your hopes up). In a word, it's "disappointing." If you're genuinely expecting a romantic dinner, you'll be completely let down. It's quite common for more than half of the passengers to be Japanese in Honolulu, so let's overlook the discomfort of having identification stickers suddenly slapped on our chests at the meeting point. After getting off the bus, you pass through a rundown shopping street behind the port, and the boarding area is next to Hooters. You board while glancing at the cold, touristic hula performances. Depending on the day, there might be some variation, but you're crammed into extremely small tables that are almost like shared seating. I paid an extra $30 per person for a window seat, but since there's a passageway around the outer edge of the boat (which you can't directly access), you should think of "window seat" as "a seat facing the passageway." Tables are crammed throughout the floor, and the waitstaff, far from being elegant, clumsily weave through the narrow aisles. Soon, music starts on a small stage, and this continues until we disembark. The "cruise" takes you a bit offshore from Waikiki, and if the weather is good, you can see the sunset and the city lights in the distance (you can go up to the upper deck), but it takes a long time for dinner to be served, so you can only go in and out during that time.

Lobster. The waitstaff, perhaps for the sake of the Japanese who aren't used to it, come around in plastic gloves to dismantle it. I was momentarily stunned by the mangled lobster. There's not much to eat anyway. Next up is the customary tough steak. The cooking level is irrelevant. It's like airplane food. The music ranges from Hawaiian to jazz, and by the time dinner ends, a Polynesian dance show begins. It's tough to perform in such a cramped space. I had already seen something a bit more authentic (probably) at the Polynesian Cultural Center, and the same performers switch between different dances, giving it the feel of a talent show. Well, they must be trying their best. Then, after we had already been in port for quite a while, we wrap up with the YMCA. Everyone lines up and dances and sings together. I don't know why it's YMCA. Many people seemed to be having fun, so if that's your vibe, it might be good for you, but if you spent a lot of money thinking it would be a "romantic dinner cruise," you'll feel pretty blue. Newlyweds, be cautious. However, Hawaii itself isn't really a destination for a quiet, intimate getaway. The cost of living is ridiculously high, and it’s not worth it at all. Wealthy individuals who could charter a yacht probably aren't looking at sites like this.

After disembarking, we were lined up by bus number, and there are always those who arrive late for these things, so we couldn't leave for a long time. Some groups went to Tantalus afterward. Good luck to them. Well, it might make for a good story, but you might be better off going to a decent restaurant. I definitely do not recommend this.

ここに記すのは三つ星クルーズについてなので、五つ星だと違うのかもしれない(が多分期待しない方がいい)。一言で言えば「ショボい」。本気でロマンティックディナーを期待して出掛けると完全に裏切られる。乗客の半数以上が日本人なのは、まあホノルルではありがちのことだし、集合場所で識別シールをいきなり胸に貼られる不快も目を瞑ろう。バスを降りると港の裏寂れた商店街を抜け、フーターズの隣に乗り場がある。いかにもツアー客向けの寒々しいフラを横目に乗船。日によって差はあるのかもしれないが、相席に近いような極めて狭いテーブルに押し込められる。窓際確約に一人30ドル余計に払ったが、船の外周に(直接出られるわけではない)通路があるので「窓際」といっても、想像するようなそれではなく「通路に面した席」と考えるべき。フロア中所狭しとテーブルが配され、僅かな通路を上品とは無縁のテーブル係がガチャガチャと行き交う。間もなく小さいステージで音楽開始。これは下船まで延々と続く。「クルーズ」はワイキキのやや沖合いへ出て、天気が良ければ日没と街側の夜景を遠くに臨めるが(上部デッキへ出られる)、ディナーが出るのに時間がかかるので、合間に出入りするしかない。ロブスター。食べ慣れない日本人のために(？)テーブル係のお姐さんがビニール手袋で解体に回る。ぐしゃぐしゃにされたロブくんにしばし呆然。大して食べるところはないのだけど。お次は恒例の固いステーキ。焼き具合もへったくれもない。機内食レベル。音楽はハワイアンからジャズ、ディナーが終わる頃に、ポリネシアンダンスショーが始まる。狭いところで大変だね。ポリネシアンカルチュラルセンターで既にもう少しオーセンティック(多分)なのを見ていたし、同じ出演者が取っ替え引っ替え別の踊りを披露するので、隠し芸大会の趣きも。いやまあ頑張っているんだろうけど。で、もう入港してだいぶ経った時分に締めのYMCA。みんなで一列になって踊り歌うのだ。なんでYMCAなのかは知らない。楽しそうにしている人も多くいたようなので、そういうノリが好みの向きには良かろうが、大枚はたいて「ロマンティックディナークルーズ」と思って参加すると、かなりブルーになる。新婚さん、ご用心。もっともハワイ自体、二人きりで静かに楽しむような旅先ではないからね。物価が無茶苦茶高いし、全く割に合わない。ヨットをチャーターできるくらいの富豪はこういうサイト見てないだろうし。さて下船後もバスの号車毎に並ばされて、こういうのに必ず遅れてくる輩がいるもので、いつまで経っても帰れない。この後タンタロスとか行ったグループもあるんだよね。ご苦労様。まあ、話のネタにはなるかもしれないが、まともなレストランでも行ったほうがいいかも。私は全然お薦めしません。

Since I had previously used the 3 Star cruise twice, I decided to change things up this time and chose the Pacific Star. Compared to the 3 Star, it definitely felt like you get what you pay for. The buffet doesn't have a wide variety, but I think the quantity is sufficient. There were only two dancers (one male and one female), so unfortunately, the show lacked a bit of glamour, but there were interactive dance segments that were enjoyable. The sunset and night views from the deck are truly wonderful, so I think it's a great option for a casual dinner cruise. The bus transfers to and from the cruise were also smooth and reassuring.

The food was fine, and considering the sunset and fireworks at sea, I thought the price was reasonable.

The day we visited was crowded, and overall the seating was cramped. Since we didn't reserve seats, we ended up at a central table for eight, but the space in the middle of the boat was so tight that chairs were bumping into each other.

As expected in Hawaii, the waitstaff were a bit careless, and due to the cramped space, I bumped my head on trays multiple times. Of course, they won't apologize unless you say something, so if you want to avoid an unpleasant experience, I strongly recommend reserving a window seat, which is somewhat better even in the tight space.

The show featured various traditional Hawaiian dances for a long time and was quite impressive. At the end, all the crew members were dancing, but there were a few waiters who looked stiff and unmotivated, making it feel like a waste of time to see them not putting in any effort.

If you want to see the Hilton fireworks better, I recommend giving up a bit on the live jazz performance and heading to the deck as soon as you finish your dessert. You can see them from the three-star seats, but the ceiling does obstruct the view. The deck is occupied by one-star guests who have finished their meals, so getting a spot in the front row is difficult. If you stand behind the loungers on the deck, it's slightly elevated, allowing you to see the fireworks without being obstructed by others' heads.

３スターの席からも見えますが、やはり天井が邪魔です。
デッキは１スターの方が食事を終えて陣取っているので最前列をとるのは難しいです。
デッキにある寝転がれる椅子の後ろに立つと
若干小高いので他人の頭が邪魔にならずに花火を見れます。

We booked this event last minute e.g. the afternoon before the event day and we're lucky that we got on. We enjoyed the trip. The food was ok perhaps average for the price of the event. 2 alcoholic baverages were included subsequent alcoholic drinks were 1$ (beer, wine) or 2$ (cocktails, mixed drinks) which is very cheap. So a good deal for people who can drink a lot. The crew was friendly, helpful and knowledgable.

We used this for our honeymoon. My husband wanted to end our trip to Hawaii with a dinner cruise, so we searched and found this one and made a reservation.

We departed for the port by bus. Since it was summer vacation, there were a lot of people.

Upon arrival at the ship, we were welcomed with ukulele music and hula dancing.

I participated in the Three Star cruise. Since it was a honeymoon, I opted for a window seat and a welcome cake. In conclusion, I think the cake was unnecessary. Additionally, we received two drink tickets per person, so we couldn't finish the champagne that came with it. Coffee was also served after the meal (we ended up leaving three tickets unused... what a waste!).

When we were shown to our seats, we were told there were snacks available for us to take freely (crackers, cheese, and a variety of fruits). We had about 20 minutes before departure, so we enjoyed those, and it was rare to find blue cheese available. The taste was average.

The appetizer salad was beautifully arranged on a large plate. The vegetables were quite large, so I used a knife to eat them. Next, a whole lobster was served. The tail was split down the middle, making it easy to crack, but the small legs and fins were tricky to get the meat out. It was also difficult to separate the tail from the body. I had to twist it off with my hands. The waiter kindly asked, "Shall I crack it for you?" so I took him up on that offer. The lobster came with butter sauce and ponzu, along with a slice of lemon. I recommend the ponzu and lemon.

After the lobster, we had steak, which was very delicious. It was cooked to a rare to medium-rare level. The sauce was also tasty, although the mashed potatoes on the side were a bit bland.

Finally, a mango cake about 6 centimeters in diameter was served. The cake also had an average taste.

Now, regarding the sunset, you need to time it yourself, as no one will inform you. Although it was a course meal, you could leave your seat at any time. 前菜のサラダは大きなお皿に野菜が綺麗に広げられています。野菜1枚が大きいのでナイフを使用していただきました。
続いてロブスターが一匹丸ごと出てきます。尻尾の部分は縦に真っ二つになっているので簡単に割れますが、尻尾についている小さな足やひれの身が引っかかって中々身が外れません。また尻尾を胴体から切り離すのも難しいです。思い切って手でねじ切りました。ハサミの部分はウエイターさんが「割りましょうか？」と聞いてきてくれましたので甘えました。ロブスターにはバターソースとポン酢が付いてくるほかにレモンも一切れ付いてきます。ポン酢やレモンがおすすめです。
ロブスターの次はステーキです。これはとても美味しかったです。レア〜ミディアムレアくらいの焼き加減でした。ソースも美味しかったです。付け合わせのマッシュポテトは味気なかったですが。。。
最後に直径6センチくらいのマンゴーケーキが出てきます。ケーキも普通の味でした。
さて肝心のサンセットですが、タイミングを自分で見計らっていかないと誰も教えてくれません。コース料理ですが、どのタイミングで席を外しても大丈夫です。料理が勝手に置かれているようなこともないようでした。(ドリンクは別)船尾の階段から4階のデッキに上がれます。5スターの方々とはエリアが仕切られていますが、十分な広さが確保されていると思います。また5階というか展望スペースのような場所にも上ることができました。そこから眺めたサンセットはとても綺麗でした。
3スターは日本人が多いように思います。ハネムーナーや記念旅行の方々のようでした。
席は全体的に狭いです。また参加者の服装は皆さん小綺麗な格好をしていますが、ハーフパンツにスニーカーの方もいます。あまり気にしなくてもいいと感じました。一般的なカジュアルで大丈夫ではないでしょうか。
