We boarded as a family. Since we had a small child with us, we were a bit hesitant about participating, but there were many families on board as well. The staff were very kind and made our experience enjoyable. Fortunately, our child fell asleep during the ride, allowing us to relax and enjoy a leisurely time. This was our second time boarding, and if the opportunity arises again, we would love to participate.

I took my first Sunset Dinner Cruise. It was a buffet course. After setting sail, we enjoyed Hawaiian music, a dancer show, and the buffet. I participated once five years ago and returned this time for my honeymoon. This year marked the 60th anniversary of the Star of Honolulu, but to be honest, I felt that the quality of service, entertainment, and food had significantly declined. Regarding the service, the waitress at our table seemed to be still in training and was working alongside someone who appeared to be more experienced. There are always newcomers in any field, but her service was terrible. Drinks took 15 minutes to arrive after ordering, and I had to reorder. When they finally came, they were the wrong items. The way she served the plates was also concerning, as she handed heavy plates over my head. A male floor manager came by several times to check if everything was fine, but it was quite bothersome. If he had time to ask that, I wished he would have taken our drink orders instead. Glasses were almost knocked over, and there were mistakes with the bill; it was just disappointing.

As for the entertainment, I used to enjoy a much more vibrant hula performance, but this time the long, dull opening songs lacked excitement. The food was also disappointing; the lobster had no flavor and was overcooked and tough. The steak had a lingering odor, and the accompanying vegetables were undercooked. I felt that the cost-performance ratio was very poor.

エンタメも、以前はもっと熱気溢れるフラを観賞できたが、今回はつまらない前座の歌が長く、盛り上がりに欠けた。
料理も、ロブスターはまるで味がしないうえに、茹で過ぎてゴリゴリ。ステーキには臭みが残っていて、付け合せの野菜も半煮え。コスパが非常に悪いと感じた。

It takes about 15 minutes by taxi from the center of Honolulu. There are about two places to drink at the cruise ship terminal, but there’s nothing else around. It feels like there used to be a shopping center here, but now it’s in ruins.

The staff on the cruise ship were very good. We got to see singing and dancing. However, I think it’s only enjoyable for people aged 50 to 60 and above. The songs they chose are old. The older guests were dancing, but most people were just sitting and relaxing on the deck. Don’t expect too much from the food, but the crab is reliably delicious. It’s a hassle to peel it yourself, but it’s all-you-can-eat.

There were a few people who were feeling seasick. If you’re prone to motion sickness, it’s better to skip this.

I recommend it for those over 60 who don’t get seasick.

The sunset view of Waikiki was amazing! Fortunately, I was able to see a beautiful shot of a large rainbow alongside Diamond Head. Such a view is unique to the cruise, so I’m glad I participated. The second half of the show was also very exciting and fun.

We added the window seat option for six people across three generations, but with a rectangular table, three of us ended up facing away from the window, making it difficult to enjoy the view. (The tables other than the window seats were round.) Additionally, since we were positioned right next to the stage, we felt the intensity up close, but we couldn’t see the overall picture. Honestly, I didn’t feel the added cost was worth it. Even without the window seats, there are great viewpoints where you can step out onto the deck to enjoy the scenery, so I think that would be sufficient.

This time was also a celebration for my elderly mother’s birthday, and she kept saying, “I had so much fun!!” It became a wonderful memory.

今回は高齢の母の誕生日祝いも兼ねていたのですが、何度も「楽しかった！！」と言ってくれて、とても良い想い出になりました。

I participated with my husband on April 26, just before Golden Week. We were lucky to have great weather in Tojo. I think Japanese people might find the interior of the ship a bit cold. The food was plentiful; since I'm not a fan of steak, I changed my reservation to chicken. The all-you-can-eat crab is brought to your table by the waitstaff. A lively uncle played the ukulele and there was a Hawaiian show, and at the end, everyone, including the guests, joined in for a dance show, which was a lot of fun.

We participated with four friends. It was a 3-star experience, but the meat and crab were very delicious. The staff was friendly and smiling. We also enjoyed the singing and dancing showtime. The Mai Tai was tasty, and the sunset was perfect. Dinner cruises are definitely great. I recommend it. Since Aloha Tower is far from Waikiki, it's better to include transportation.

Sunset dinner cruise!!
I was really looking forward to it because it's Hawaii.
However...
Unfortunately, it rained (-_-;)
Since I participated in an all-you-can-eat buffet, I really wanted to enjoy watching the sun set into the ocean from the boat rather than focusing on the food.
So I was very disappointed, but I got to see many wonderful dances up close from the dancers, and there were also activities that involved the passengers, which made it a lot of fun.
I would love to go cruising again next time.
I hope the weather is nice then (＾◇＾)

ところが。。。
あいにくの雨　(-_-;)
私が参加したのは、食べ放題ビュッフェだったので
お料理というよりも本当に太陽が海に沈んでいくのを
船から眺めたいと思っていました。
だからすごく残念だったのですが
ダンサーの方の素敵なダンスが沢山近くで見れて
乗客参加のものもあったりして
とっても楽しかったです。
また次回もクルージングしたいと思いました。
次は良い天気だといいなぁ(＾◇＾)
