Small Boat But BIG Surprises!

We scheduled our evening on the Prince Kuhio Sunset Cruise for our 26th Wedding Anniversary. It wasn't a large boat but I will tell you the Captain and the crew had big hearts and were full of BIG surprises.

We had a sumptuous dinner that was better than any meal I had had on the island. The chef should be commended. The food was served quickly and it was hot when you got it. The crew swiftly took your beverage orders and made sure you were happy. Their customer service was exemplary!

Then we were entertained to a hula show and a fire dance. The evening was capped off by a spectacular fireworks display from the shore.

This crew worked their tails off: they drove the shuttle buses, they served food and beverages, and they put on a show.

It was a magical night that I will never forget as long as I live! Thank you Prince Kuhio!

I made a reservation for pickup at the Ala Moana Hotel, but when the pickup time came, no one showed up. After 30 minutes, I called the tour company but couldn't get through, and 45 minutes later, I had to take a taxi to the location and barely made it onto the ship just before departure.

I recommend caution for those requesting a pickup. It was the worst experience. I would like a refund for the taxi fare.

Later, I received a contact from VELTRA, and they coordinated with the tour company to refund the taxi fare. Since I received the refund, I will revise my rating from 1 star to 3 stars.

I was looking forward to the fireworks viewing event on this trip. The ship was mostly filled with foreigners, just like in other people's experiences, but since the purpose was cruising and watching fireworks, I was able to enjoy it without worrying. There were reviews saying the fireworks themselves weren't that impressive, but considering the context of watching them in Hawaii, I think they were on par with Japan's large fireworks festivals.

The wind was strong, so it couldn't be helped, but it was quite rocky and I was fine. However, my friend got seasick, which was unfortunate. Some Japanese people who don't understand English didn't realize the fireworks were canceled and couldn't understand why we had to disembark. They had to ask a Japanese person who understands a little English, and upon learning about the cancellation, they disembarked feeling disappointed. I wish there had been more consideration, like preparing boards that are easier for Japanese people to understand.

It would also be nice to have boards indicating where to get off in a way that Japanese people can understand for the return trip. It gets dark and the scenery changes.

I'm one of those people that thinks it's a waste to be on a boat if you're going to be cooped up indoors all the time. If you're going to experience a sunset at sea, you might as well do it right with an open-air deck and a mai tai in hand.

The dinner on this cruise was great, and so was the live entertainment, which included ukulele, hula, and a fire dance (totally unexpected), but for how affordable it is all of those just seemed like a cherry on top of a gorgeous cake.

If you want to experience a Hawaiian sunset on a laid-back ship, this is the cruise for you.

Since it was a special Friday with my daughters on their first trip to Hawaii, we decided to watch the fireworks from the sea. It was better than I expected, as we could see Diamond Head from a different angle and enjoy the pleasant breeze. The buffet-style meal was also tastier than I anticipated, and there seemed to be a variety of drinks available.

However, it would have been nice to have some notices in Japanese regarding safety instructions and how to order drinks on the boat. I didn't quite understand everything and couldn't enjoy the different drinks as much as I would have liked. It was a bit disappointing, especially since the bartender was very friendly and accommodating.

Unfortunately our scheduled Friday night cruise was cancelled due to rough conditions. The staff were fantastic to reschedule a daytime cruise for us on Sunday since we were leaving the next Thursday. The boat crew were very friendly, informative, safe and competent. We managed to see some green sea turtles and view the island scenery from the water. We were able to capture some wonderful photos to remind us of our visit to Oahu.

I participated with a friend. I think this price is quite cheap considering it includes transportation, meals, and one drink. Most participants were from English-speaking countries, with only about 3 to 4 groups of Japanese. The explanations given on the ship after departure (such as the location of life jackets and the description of drink containers) were all in English. The meal was served buffet-style, and I think it's best to expect light snacks. The flavors were very delicious and seemed to appeal to Japanese tastes! It was the perfect time to relax, swaying with the waves while enjoying dinner and watching the sunset.

We cruised near Diamond Head until the fireworks started, but the waves were quite strong, which was a bit scary. (I recommend it for those who enjoy amusement park attractions like the "Viking" ride.) The wind was also quite strong, so it's essential to prepare for the cold. The fireworks can be seen beautifully from the front! After the fireworks ended, we headed back to the port, but I was a bit tired of the strong wind, so I was actually grateful for it (laughs). If I visit Hawaii again, I definitely want to participate again.

(遊園地の『バイキング』的なアトラクションが好きな方にはオススメ)
風もかなり強いので、絶対に防寒対策は必要です。
花火も正面からとても綺麗に見れます！
花火終了後は、すぐに港に引き返しますが、強風に少しうんざりしていたので、むしろ有り難かったです(笑)
ハワイを訪れたら、また絶対に参加したいと思います。

At first, I thought there were about 50 people on board. There were only us and one other group of Japanese people. There wasn't any special event, but the food was delicious, and we got to see Diamond Head, surfers, the sunset, and since we went on a Friday, we also saw the Hilton fireworks. It was really great! Initially, I had booked a different tour, but it got canceled when we entered the dry dock, so I chose this tour instead. I highly recommend it and plan to go again next year.

We headed to the location by rental car, but we were running late. However, seeing that we were in a hurry, the boat staff waited for us a little. Onboard, there were many families, and when the boat started moving, it felt a bit chilly, but once we entered the cabin, it was fine. The fireworks were very beautiful. We were the only Japanese people. When we arrived at the location, the small boat was completely different from what I had imagined. And there was a restaurant that looked like a ruin right next to it. At first, I felt really anxious. Is this okay? Is this the right place? But after completing the procedures, it seemed to be correct. Despite my worries, we started!!

The boat allowed us to feel the waves and wind, which was really pleasant! Since there were no other Japanese people, it really felt like we were overseas! It was a fun experience that you definitely can't have on a two or three-story boat. It was like an adventure! We were also able to see the fireworks clearly, which made me very satisfied. It was an incredibly casual night cruise with a great sense of openness. I'm very satisfied!

I highly recommend this tour for those who are proficient in English or currently studying it! It was the tour where I felt the most like I was abroad, with mostly Westerners participating. It was delightful to enjoy the beautiful sunset with people from around the world. The music playing added to the charm! I found myself enjoying the tunes of Michael Jackson and the Beach Boys, and I ended up drinking a bit too much and getting a little tipsy. Haha!

I participated because I could see the Hilton fireworks from the sea. There were not many Japanese people, but I was surprised to see many couples with small children (or rather, babies) and pregnant women. Since it was a small boat, the rocking was quite strong, so I think it's essential for those who get seasick to take motion sickness medication. At the start, we could see the sunset, and after the sun went down, we enjoyed the night view of Waikiki, the moon, light snacks, and cocktails. The snacks were limited in quantity, so make sure not to miss out. I participated in mid-October and brought a windbreaker just in case, but since the weather was nice, I was fine without anything over my sleeveless top. It was a trip with three middle-aged men. Last time, we spent our time playing golf on a trip that was postponed for a year due to 9/11. This time, one of the companions, who is from a certain prestigious yacht club, expressed a desire to go sailing, so I searched online.

出発前夕日をパチり。
参加者は日本人は我々の他新婚？カップルのみ。
あとはアメリカン２０名程度。
説明は英語でさっぱりでしたが。
出航しワイキキ、カハラ沖を航行。
海からの景色は絶景でした。
以前若からし頃カハラに宿泊しウィンドサーフィンでカハラ沖に流されたイヤーな思い出とともに。
花火まではビール、軽食で過ごしましたがなかなか
でした。
クルーのハワイアンガールがセールを張る時の力の有る事に驚き。
湾内を花火まで行ったり来たりで皆「本当にはなびがあがるのー」状態
徐々にセールを降ろしチャップチャップした頃花火がドーン。
日本の花火を期待したらですがハワイ沖での花火も
中々なもの。
老齢のアメリカンはミュウ一ジックにダンス。
時間的には１０分程か。
お勧めしますよ。
説明通りウインドブレイカーは必須ですよー。
我々オジンも満足して帰路へ。

The luxurious dinner on the large ship was like a show, so I decided to book a different route. It was very good. The captain was a typical American, but he spoke fluent Japanese and kept cracking jokes. We enjoyed the sunset while moving around the deck.
