I participated with my daughter. Both my daughter and I tend to get motion sickness, so we took some medication before joining. We usually do fine with regular boat rides, but we had to stop the boat and wait on the water for the whales to arrive. This is what made us feel nauseous.
All the announcements on the boat were in English.
The food seemed to be worth the price.
We were able to see a whale briefly, but I expected to see more, which is why I gave this rating.

On the first day I participated, no whales appeared.

After returning to the hotel, I called the tour company and participated again two days later.

During the second time, although it was quite far away, I was able to see the spouts, dorsal fins, and tail fins about 5 or 6 times. It was disappointing not to see any jumps, but I suppose it's something rare to encounter.

I really wanted to see it live, so I decided to try whale watching for the first time. Since this is the only season to see them, I thought it would be a great opportunity.

In the morning, we headed to the port on a large bus, where a somewhat older but impressive cruise ship was docked. Other guests from different buses boarded, and we received explanations about the whales' behavior, how to respond when we spot them, and the best locations to find them.

As we set sail, we enjoyed a leisurely cruise while gazing at Waikiki Beach and heading out to sea just past Diamond Head. It seemed like the whales appeared somewhere, but I missed them. However, I was able to see a few blows and breaches from a distance afterward.

When everyone turned in unison toward the direction of the sighting, it created a strange sense of unity, and I really enjoyed it. Whether or not you see them is a matter of luck, but even just the cruising experience was highly satisfying, and I was able to spend the morning in a pleasant and meaningful way.

どうしても生で是非見てみたいというということで、初めてホエールウォッチングに申し込んでみました。この季節しか見れないということもあり、折角ならという思いもありました。
朝、大型バスで港に向かうと少し古めですが立派なクルーズ船が停泊していました。他のバスからのお客さんも乗り込み、生態や見つけた時の対応、出没スポットなどを説明いただきました。
出航すると、横目にワイキキビーチを眺めつつダイヤモンドヘッドの少し先の沖合までゆったりクルーズが続きました。
と、どこかで出現したようでしたが、見逃してしまいました。ただその後に何度かブローとブリーチングを遠目からですが、見ることができました。
出現した時に全員が一斉にその方向に向かうのは妙な一体感があり、とても楽しめました。見れるかどうかは運次第ですが、クルージングだけでも満足度は高く、午前中の時間を心地よく有意義に過ごすことができました。

We boarded the boat and moved to the front on the second deck early after lunch. Thanks to moving early, we secured the best spot for viewing! About 30 minutes later, we spotted a spouting whale! After that, it showed up multiple times. It was swimming close to the boat, and dolphins were swimming alongside it as well. Capturing photos was challenging, so I filmed everything on video. Later, I laughed at my excited voice while watching the video (lol). It was such a wonderful experience!

それからは何回も姿を見せてくれました。

I went in mid-February. I was worried because the weather was bad when we set sail, but we were able to see whales! The weather improved along the way, so we also got to see Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head beautifully, which was amazing!

The weather was great, and we were able to see a lot of whales in a perfect location! There were many mother and calf whales, and we were captivated by the gentle commentary in English. I boarded on March 4th. The whale I was looking forward to seeing only showed its tail far in the distance, so I can only say I saw it once. My wife and I went on the Sunset Dinner Cruise on the Star of Honolulu to celebrate our thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. This was one of the things we had scheduled in advance of our trip to Oahu, because we had heard nothing but good things about the cruise. They did not disappoint. From our meet and great with the captain to the final departure from the ship, everything was first class. The entire crew was extremely friendly and very accommodating. Our server, Germese, could not have been any nicer and very attentive. The food was delicious and the drinks were amazing. We also enjoyed the live entertainment during and after dinner. It did start to rain as we were heading back to the dock, but the crew took very good care of us and walked us out to our transportation with umbrellas. Would definitely cruise again if we get back to Waikiki. We would certainly recommend the Star of Honolulu to anyone who wants to be treated perfectly. Aloha!

Although it is stated that the meal is a light snack, it turned out to be a buffet, so you can eat as much as you want. I participated with my parents. There was a problem with the hotel pickup (it was because we couldn't speak English...), and we got separated from my parents. Additionally, my son's luggage went missing (laughs). However, thanks to the prompt response from the staff, we were able to reunite with my parents and thoroughly enjoy whale watching, seeing whales multiple times. Also, my son's missing luggage was delivered to the hotel. I sincerely thank the staff, especially Emiko, for their help. The meals provided during the trip were ample, and after the watching ended, fresh fruits were added, which made me feel well taken care of.

You don't need to worry if you can't speak English (laughs). I would love to use this service again if I have the chance. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

両親と一緒に参加しました。ホテルピックアップでトラブルがあり(私達が英語が出来なかったせいですが…)両親と離れ離れに、、、更に息子の荷物も行方不明に(笑)しかしスタッフさんの迅速な対応のお陰で両親とも合流でき、ホエールウォッチングも満喫、クジラも何度も見ることが出来ました。そして、行方不明になっていた息子の荷物もホテルまで届けていただきました。日本人スタッフの恵美子さん他、スタッフ方々に心から御礼申し上げます。乗船中の食事は十分用意されていますし、ウォッチングが終わった後にはフルーツ等が新たに足されて本当に行き届いているなと感じました。
英語が話せなくても大丈夫です。(笑)

Unfortunately, we couldn't see any whales, but since it's nature, that's understandable. I think it would be amazing if we could see them. Even without seeing whales, you can still enjoy the cruising experience. I definitely recommend bringing binoculars!

I participated in a tour on the afternoon of February 26, 2018. The weather was mostly cloudy, which was different from the typical image of Hawaii's skies, but the boat didn't sway much, so I didn't get seasick. As for the whales, perhaps due to the size of the boat, there were limitations on how close we could get. We were able to see them a few times in the distance. The dorsal fin came up, there was a spout, and finally, the tail fin popped up for the finish. Smaller boats from other tours were able to get a bit closer! However, they might have experienced more swaying and seasickness.

At one point, it started to drizzle and it was windy and cold, so we moved to the lounge on the second floor. During times like this, I was glad to be on this boat.

2018.2.26の午後からのツアーに参加しました。天候は曇りがちで、ハワイの空のイメージとは違いどんよりでしたが、船の揺れは少なかったので船酔いは無かったです。肝心のクジラですが、船が大きい分、近づく距離に制限があるのでしょうか？遠くで何回か見ることが出来ました。背びれが浮いてきて、潮吹き、ラストは尾びれがぴょこんと出てきてフィニッシュ。他のツアーの小さい船はもう少し近づいて見れてましたよ！でも船の揺れは大きく船酔いするかもです。
途中小雨が降り風もあり寒かったので、2階ラウンジに移動。こういう時はこちらの船で良かったと思いました。

It can get hot if you stay outside for too long, but when you finally see the whales or their spouts, it’s exciting and fun. So, if you decide to participate, I encourage you to actively go outside and enjoy the thrill of the search.
