Roy and I really enjoyed ourself, the guys were all great, we have been on a few different whale watch tours thru out the years, and by all means this was the best, we got to experience at least 40 sightings of whales, was simple wonderful. Will tell all our friends that visit Oahu, while we were on the boat we first saw several turtles, had to laugh cuz the guys said to look for trash cans lids, that was the green sea turtles and we saw about five of them, also the snacks they served were great I ate a lot of the fresh fruit and had a beer that they had available on tap. We will be sure to pass the word on of the great time we had and have passed out a few of the extra business cards we had. Great time.

Not a good experience

This was not a good experience for me because one of the crew members was rude at the beginning so it kind of ruined my trip. There was no lunch, they had some chips, an assortment of drinks and granola bars. We did not see too much whales but I guess it's not up to the crew, it is whenever whales want to get out of the water which in our case there wasn't that much to see. The boat was nice and I like the nets in the front, it was kind of fun to sit and watch the ocean from there. Drinks were good too. Captain was very good at maneuvering the boat. The boat was clean and acceptable. I think they could work on better manners for the crew and it won't be too bad.

Our whale excursion was a great experience. Our crew, Anthony, Carlos and Bret were very knowledgeable, friendly and fun. We saw two pods of whales. All in all, it was a great day. I would highly recommend this activity to anyone.

I went to Hawaii for a friend's retirement celebration. The couple was on their first overseas trip, and I wanted them to enjoy it. To my surprise, when we spoke to the flight attendants, we received a complimentary bottle of wine as a special service. We arranged for a limousine, and everything went smoothly until the activities began. We initially booked parasailing for three people but changed it to four. However, the local staff insisted, "We only heard three people. Pay up." They didn't even try to confirm the reservation and had a confusing communication system. One of the retirees couldn't fly and had to return. When I sent a complaint email, they responded, "We'll give you breakfast as an apology," but I was not satisfied with that, considering the time and effort spent on the reservation and travel. I would have eaten regardless of the complimentary meal, so I reluctantly accepted it to avoid wasting more time. I wonder if larger companies tend to have such a lack of attention to detail. Since we are on vacation, I wish they would take that into account and be more accommodating.

Wow... I saw Whales

On February 6, we went on the late morning whale watching tour. The winds had been 20 - 30 MPH earlier that week and the water had not settled down. In spite of this, Captain Josh and the crew gave us a great time. We were close enough to the humpback whales that I could catch their bodies with my camera. Plus it was fun seeing the whales blow water into the air.

I was impressed by the captain knowing both fluent English and Japanese and being very safety conscience.

The Crew was great. They pointed out whales, got us drinks and gave us great info on the whales. I also appreciated the shuttle picking us up and dropping us off.

All in all, it was a great trip. If I go Back to Hawaii, I will probably book another trip on this boat. I would highly recommend this captain and crew to anyone who wants a great day on the water.

Due to the request of my companions, we tried the standard height! The instructor didn't speak much Japanese, so all the explanations were in English and gestures, but I was able to understand enough to enjoy the experience. The driver who picked us up was also a foreigner and couldn't speak Japanese.

We were encouraged to purchase photos and DVDs, but since we all brought our own cameras, we took turns taking pictures of each other. The boat mentioned that tips were included in the price, but we had a great time and since we didn't buy any photos or DVDs, I gave a $20 tip. If they had informed us about the cost of the photos and DVDs when we signed up, I might have purchased them. I only brought enough money for tips, so I didn't have much cash on hand. I think they mentioned it was around $30.

Our tour started at 9:00 AM (pickup was at 8:15), so we returned to the hotel a little after 10:30. It was enough time to make other plans for parasailing in the afternoon. Next time, I want to challenge myself with the longest one!

Wow!! We did the afternoon whale watch on February 12, 2015. First, we are so happy we booked this tour instead of one of the large cruise-like ships. Everything was fantastic and exceeded our expectations from the very start. Our crew (Jacob, Julia, David and Dave) were phenomenal! Each was outgoing, friendly and very knowledgeable. They made sure each person was attended to and were in constant contact with each other as well as the passengers. We were so fortunate to have perfect weather/sea conditions and only 7 passengers, including ourselves, for the cruise. Because of its size, the catamaran easily maneuvered to change course when we spotted whales, which was often! Not only did our crew point out sightings, but also explained why whales did certain things, their habits and shared past whale experiences. We even got to see a sea turtle when we were heading back to the marina. We were so happy we booked with this company. The cruise was intimate and fun and the drinks were great, too! If you want a top-notch, personal experience, book here!! Even if we hadn't been so lucky to see so many whales, the sailing experience with these great people would have been well worth it!

We had a great time. The boat was on the smaller side, which was good...we could maneuver and move towards sighted whales more quickly and easier than the large vessels could. there were about 12 total guest on the boat with 4 total crew members, so the tour was very intimate. We enjoyed the friendliness and knowledge of the staff. Light snacks and refreshments were provided, and alcohol was available for $1 or $2 for those who wanted it. There was plenty of room in the covered area of the boat as well as the front deck. We spent the majority out on the deck, as the views from there were remarkable. One woman got seasick and the crew did what they could to help her out. I'd recommend Dramamine beforehand just in case! Regarding the actual whale sightings, we probably saw about 6 whales in the time that we were out there. Most of the time we would see the large fin protruding from the water a few times, and then we'd see the tale come up before the whale made a deep dive into the water. We saw one turtle as well. No spinner dolphins when we were out but I believe that those are a common sighting as well. The whales we saw were anywhere from 50-100 yards away, so we felt like we were pretty close, without being on top of them (they are huge!). Overall, we had a fantastic time. Just being out on the boat was worth the price, and the multiple sightings made it a great trip. Staff does not ask for tips, but we thought it was appropriate to leave one since they were so accommodating. I would certainly recommend to a friend!

Such an awesome experience in my life

Everything was perfect, which was sunny day and the pick-up car to Kewalo Basin arrived on time, actually a little early at the appointment place. It was my first whale watching excursion. I really like to recommend this tour if you are available.

The catamaran that my wife and I got on board, I think, is the perfect size for agile movement for following the humpback whales race and watching them closely and even listening to the mysterious and marvelous whale songs. I think this neat ship is much better than massive cruises to watch fast-moving whales.

Staff who are kind and informative also helped us to have a good memory of the whale watching trip. They are very friendly and kind, especially their informative knowledge will help you better understand the humpback whales traits like why they came to Hawaii and what they do and so forth.

More importantly, I think, the staff really know well about the best spot where we can watch whales. Thanks to the wonderful staff, we really enjoyed and got a lucky chance to watch dozens of whales and their competition race as well as the show of spouting water. Moreover, we could watch tremendous whale breach at the end of our trip, which was carried over the mom whale accompanying its baby. It was really an unbelievable and unforgettable moment in our life. It’s worth your every penny.

I love my job

We were picked up by a friendly gentleman who treated my older travelers very respectfully. When we got to the harbor the captain was very thorough yet fun with the way he spoke to us. We knew exactly what to expect and what to do.
When we got going, the crew was very friendly and spent a lot of time talking to us about whales and whatever else we wanted to ask about. They were very upbeat and wiling to get us drinks at any time. The boat was clean and the music was good.
I've been on many whale watching cruises and I would recommend this outfit to anyone. From the captain, who speaks fluent Japanese, all the way down the crew these people have passion for what they do and it shows.

We started our activity by getting picked up at our hotel by a friendly shuttle driver. We were with my mother-in-law and her sister. The driver suggested they used hotel restroom before we left, which was very nice, considering they were elderly and the restroom on the boat can be a little tricky to say the least.
When we got to the shipyard we were greeted by the captain and the crew. They were very thorough and professional.
We set off to find whales and the crew was very accommodating and interacted with everyone. They always asked if we needed anything.
We didn't have much luck spotting whales this day. We spotted a few in the distance and finally a mom and baby after looking an extra 30 minutes past our scheduled time.
Not really their fault, but a little disappointing.
I would recommend these folks. They are a good crew.

I used the service at the end of January. The shuttle was 30 minutes late without any notice, and the light snacks were stale. The staff couldn't speak any Japanese at all. I didn't see any whales anywhere.

I participated at my husband's request. Everyone else was from Europe or America, but the staff spoke some broken Japanese, and there were Japanese notes for instructions, so it was fine.

We started flying about 10 minutes out on the boat. It felt amazing, and we even saw a whale by chance (we could see its tail). However, my husband got seasick and ended up throwing up a little in the sea. (^_^;)

The boat didn't move much in the open water, and it often stopped riding the waves, so it was quite rocky. Other tours might have similar experiences, but I strongly recommend motion sickness medication for those who are prone to it. (By the way, those who are fine with it shouldn't have any problems. My husband was the only one out of ten participants who got sick.)

The flight time isn't very long, but you can see beautiful scenery and the horizon, and it gives you an indescribable sense of freedom. I couldn't take photos myself, but you can buy the ones taken by the staff with their DSLR camera. They seem to burn a lot of photos and videos directly onto a DVD for you. (I think it was around $30 or $40?)

There were also some strong individuals using waterproof cameras and selfie sticks. There was nothing particularly scary, and I thought that if it was like this, I would be happy to do it again and again.

ほかの船に乗って行くツアーも一緒なのでしょうが、日ごろ酔いやすい方は酔い止めを強く勧めます。（ちなみに平気な方はまったく問題がないはずです。酔っていたのは、参加者10人中、うちの主人だけでした）
飛行時間はそんなに長くないですが、きれいな景色と水平線が見えますし、なんとも言えない開放感を感じることができます。
写真は自分では撮れなかったので、スタッフさんの一眼レフで撮ってくれたものを買う事ができます。たくさんの写真と映像をそのままDVDに焼いてくれるようです。（30ドルだか40ドルだかだったかな？）
防水対応のカメラで、自撮り棒を駆使している強者もいましたよ。
特に怖いこともなく、こんな感じなら私は何度でもやって良いなと思いました。

Whale watching cruise!

We came to Hawai to celebrate my father's 70th birthday, and one of his must-do lists was the whale watching cruise.
We arrived at the harbor and the stuffs were very friendly and happy to assist us. The check in (as well as the reservation though the Veltra) was smooth and easy.
They offered us free non alcoholic beverages and snacks(fruits, chips and etc) at the bar on the cruise.
Once we left the harbor, the stuffs toughly us about the whales we were about to see. They were super friendly, and we learned a lot about the whales from them from this cruise which was awesome.
It was less than a 2 hr cruise with lots of focusing trying to find whales!! We saw at least 10 whales actions like a humpback breaching and tail-slapping!!
We all enjoyed it!

Fairly expensive dinner with a far away sighting of whale... Timing is the "Key"

It was ok at best. There were three crue members in this activity and beverage(Approx. five kinds of Juice) and Snacks(Chips, Cookies, Apples, and Oranges) were provided. All crue members are friendly and helpful. Clean Deck and Interior.
You hope for the whale shooting out of the water with the earth shaking splash....keep hoping. Animals are unpredictable. We did see them blow air up it, but it was very far away and nothing like the pictures! I think it is all about the "right" timing to see something like "the" picture scene. Not worth the money in my opinion. Although all crues are friendly and helpful, obviously there is nothing they can do about the whales.

Waikiki Whale Watch Sailing Cruise

If I could give this cruise more than five starts I would!! This Whale watching cruise was the highlight of my visit to Oahu! The crew Josh, Julia and Jacob were outstanding! The perfect hosts! We witnessed several whale sightings and the crew was very informative about the whales, answering every and all of the guests questions. The catamaran we sailed on was very well kept and we felt safe on our ride out into the Ocean, we traveled at low speeds making the ride very pleasurable. I recommend this tour above any whale watching tour in Oahu, you will not be disappointed! Thank you again to Josh, Julia and Jacob you all were amazing!!!

The two-person seats are arranged side by side, so it was much more comfortable and enjoyable than sitting vertically. You can also purchase photos for $30, and I'm looking forward to seeing them when I get home! 😊

Yesturday we had a great adventure!
When my husbund and I went to this trip I thought we will see one or two whales very far away. But thanks Dave and his wonderful crew we saw so many things! We saw dolphins, turtles, fishes and whales of course. There were several points where we saw them. One of the whales jumped out the water many times and it was amasing.
It was like we saw Discovery channal but we saw this with our own eyes. We took so many beautiful pictures! The crew was very polite and nice to everybody. They came to us and other tourists and told us about whales habits, it was really useful and interesting.

For a long time tried to choose adventures, that we want to try in Hawaii- and whales watch was one of that we want to see for sure. We choose Waikiki Whale Watch Sailing Cruise (from Kewalo Basin)-and for 100% it wasn't a mistake. Our capital was Dave-really cool cap!)) First of all he told that we'll try to see whales, turtles, dolphins- and he realized all programm! I red a lot about such trips, so we were ready that we wouldn't see whales too close- so my advise- the better optics u have-the better photos ull have. If u have go-pro take it for sure, cause u can make reAlly cool video under the water with dolphins, which were really close to boat). So really want to advise this trip-u ll never regret about it-we never saw whales and it was really great emotions. One more thing-don't take trip on a big boat-our was really comfortable, only 17 people-so it was easy to take pictures and run from one side of boat to another, trying to make good photo))

I really enjoyed the cruise. They started on time and I didn't have any issues confirming my seat through this website. I was on their list promptly. It lasts roughly two hours and the first 15 minutes generally consists of a safety briefing before everyone gets started. The crew was very informative and they allowed you to fully walk the boat as well as take pictures while you are stirring the boat. The sunset itself was beautiful and we happen to catch a few whales while out there. Overall it was well worth the experience. It's definitely a little pricy however if you are looking for a good cruise, this should definitely be something you consider.

Makani Catamaran Waikiki Sunset Cocktail Cruise with Drinks & Transportation

We got a free shuttle bus from Waikiki but arrived in the harbor an hour earlier. I don't know why the driver pick us so early. We just stayed in the harbor and took pictures of us to kill the time. After we had done the tour, we needed to go back to the hotel by ourselves by using the city bus.
Hospitality, food, drink and music were all good! If you are lucky, you can see whales during winter. (We couldn't see them.) Besides that, the sunset was beautiful and hilarious.
We suggest that you had better to bring sweater, jacket or whatever you like to wear in December and January as it is chilly and windy. Overall, we highly recommend you join this tour if you have enough time in Waikiki. If you don't expect too much, then this cruise is for you. The ship was small but it was okay for us to enjoy having dinner and seeing the sunset.

We need sweater!!

It was windy and chilly because we joined this tour in the end of December. We thought Hawaii is hot even in winter but it wasn't. Early morning and evening was chilly. Jackets or sweaters are must! My dad felt bad as he wore short sleeves and short pants. I saw some people had sea sick. Some of them were lying on the chair and did nothing. One of the staffs take them and told them to breathe a fresh air. I realized staffs were considerate and generous. Besides, food was good. They had six dishes, which were teriyaki chicken, white rice, broccoli with beef, vegetable burritos, macaroni salad, and cookies. Everything was fine.I think teriyaki chicken was the best. Most of the dishes were cooked with vegetables so everybody can enjoy having dinner. However, the dinner would be better if all the food was hot until we started to eat.
Overall, We highly recommend you take long sleeves if you will join the cruise in winter. The sunset was beautiful and was the last time to see in 2014.(We're suppose to join the cruise on 30th but it was cancelled due to a bad weather. So, we did it the following day instead.) I guess all generations can enjoy this cruising!

I participated in whale watching, knowing it was the season for it. After being picked up from our hotel in Waikiki, we arrived at Kewalo Basin in about 15 minutes. Since it was morning, there was hardly any wind, and I felt relieved that we could set sail without worrying too much about seasickness. In December, we went on a trip to Hawaii. Since we wanted to do something special that can only be done at this time of year, we participated in a whale watching tour as a couple. The weather was clear with a beautiful blue sky. We got into the pickup car in front of the hotel and headed to the port. That day, we were the only participants, making it a private cruise. The three staff members were all friendly, allowing us to enjoy the experience with peace of mind. Since the season had just started, there were reportedly very few whales, but shortly after departure, we spotted two whales! Their tails were distinctly whale-shaped, and even from a distance, I was moved to see a whale for the first time. Following the whales, a cute sea turtle appeared in front of the boat. I made this booking at the last minute because my best friend from Ukraine was visiting Honolulu.

The reservation was made late at night and confirmed promptly by 8AM the following morning.

The 3 man boat crew was very polite and friendly which was fantastic. The boat and the head were clean. No complaints there.

I had made the booking with the obvious intention of viewing whales. But Mother Nature had other plans. We spent the full duration of the ride seeing just blue water, small fish and the occasional airplane flying overhead. Relaxing, but not what we had come to see.

I was very pleased that the company which provides this service has a policy regarding cruises that do not encounter any whales. Because we did not see any whales, the boat captain provided us with a voucher allowing us to take another whale watching cruise with the company at no charge. I will certainly be seeing them again soon.

Enjoyable relaxing time on the water

My wife and I did this as part of our honeymoon. And even though it was a cloudy evening and we didn't get to see the sunset, we still really enjoyed the trip. The crew was very personable and friendly. And even in choppy seas, the ride was smooth and peaceful. Got to see Waikiki from a different perspective, being on the ocean, and all lit up at night. The food was good, but the only thing that I would change is that the food could have been warmer. Overall an enjoyable time and I would recommend.

Our Makani Sunset Dinner Cruise was simply amazing!Everything about this trip was memorable-from checking in, boarding, cruising, and (sadly),returning to port.The wonderful and hospitable staff, delicious dinner, refreshing drinks, and the stunning sunset made this experience the best bang for your buck on the island. The evening started with us boarding the catamaran and choosing a seat next to the captains. We took photos and then assembled for a friendly,but thorough welcome by the small but mighty crew of three. We then fired up the bar and the engines and headed out on the ocean listening to a variety of island vibes. It was so picturesque- Heads bobbing, couples hugging, boat sailing, and the sun slowly going down.And did I mention a bridal shower group on the boat.!We chatted with others (local and first timers) and shared one common theme.....we were on the fun boat. We ate a delicious buffet of rice, colorful pasta salad, islandy tofu rolls, sweet glazed teriyaki chicken, beef and crunchy broccoli, mini egg rolls, and macadamia nut cookies (there was even food left over). The coolest part of the trip came with the sunset. We hung out on the catamaran (trampoline bed) chatting and feeling the breeze. We also took turns passing around our cameras for photo opps. As the sun disappeared into the horizon, we began to feel the 180 of the boat.While the cityscape was absolutely beautiful as it lit up the shoreline, we didn't want it to end. What an excellent adventure! Many thanks to that awesome crew for a lifetime reflection of what paradise really feels like! Mahalo!
