Oahu
When we got on the tour bus, we had a very talkative guide. Of course, he spoke only in English. He introduced himself as "Captain," so I thought he was both the driver and the boss of the boat, but when I asked for his name again when we got off, it turned out to be "Caplun" (laughs).
Anyway, he introduced us to the restaurant while heading to our destination. According to him, the top recommendation is malasadas, followed by poke bowls, and then loco moco. He kept insisting that malasadas are the best (laughs). He also mentioned that having yakitori with beer is the best, which made me think that no matter the country, older men seem to enjoy the same things. I dozed off a bit and before I knew it, we arrived at our destination.
Since there was no place to change on the boat, we promised to wear our swimsuits underneath and quickly stripped down to head into the sea!
Originally, sandbars appear in areas where the tide goes in and out, but this time, due to high tide, the water was up to our waists. The clarity of the water was absolutely amazing.
While many people were playing and swimming in the shallow areas, the best spots to see marine life were a bit deeper with coral. One gentleman was trying hard to hold onto a float and keep up with us but gave up halfway.
We continued on. While we could see to some extent with our eyes, the sand and possibly plankton made it hard to see beyond about 7 meters.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any honu (sea turtles), and feeling a bit down, our Japanese-speaking guide said we still had time to take a break and try again! He mentioned that since the wind was picking up, it would be better to stay a little closer to shore.
We returned to the boat, but by this point, my body was starting to get cold. In fact, it felt warmer in the water, but I was tempted by snacks and returned to the boat.
We were able to enjoy free drinks like coffee, canned juice, apples, and snacks. About the Cheetos, they actually taste a bit different from the ones in Japan. The American version has a stronger cheddar flavor and is saltier, making it quite addictive (laughs).
I was so cold that I wrapped myself in a pool towel while eating (laughs). Once I settled down a bit on the boat, we tried again!
The second time, the water felt colder. I had brought fins, so I was able to swim quite easily, but my wife said she didn't need them, and I think she probably used up a lot of energy...
After swimming back and forth in the coral area a couple of times, someone on the boat shouted, "There it is! A sea turtle!" We dashed over and got our cameras ready! The weather was great, but I couldn't see the display! The water was quite murky, but I pressed the shutter anyway!!!
Both my wife and I were able to see the wild honu clearly. They say the sea god brings good fortune, so I hope something good happens!
Our excitement skyrocketed, and we were instructed to return as we had only five minutes left. After getting back on the boat, we left the sandbar.
Finally, we took a picture of the beautiful scenery.
When we returned to shore, our high-energy guide Caplun handed us a business card for ordering malasadas online (laughs). He really loves them!
Then we headed to Leonard's for the second time on this trip. It was indeed delicious, so we bought more. We were instructed not to eat in the car but outside, so I asked if it was okay to take it home. He passionately insisted, "Hot is the best! Trust me!!" (laughs). When I mentioned that I had already tried the original malasada here the other day, he smiled widely and said, "Well, that's good! OK, OK."
On our way back, it started to rain again, and we saw a rainbow. Is it really this heavy during a downpour?
Then it was time to get off near our hotel. I told Caplun that his introduction was very entertaining and gave him a tip, ending the tour!
Back in our room, I had chocolate, and my wife had custard, sharing a bite each. The order was 1. Original, 2. Cho
Aloha! This is Captain Bruce's Paradise of the Sea Tour. Thank you very much for participating in the tour. We sincerely appreciate the detailed tour report you provided. We also thank you for your kind words about our drivers and staff. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed not only snorkeling but also the time spent on the bus. Please do join us again when you visit Hawaii. All of our staff are looking forward to welcoming you back.

We chose the sunset cruise. Upon arrival we were a bit concerned about the surf as it was pretty rough for this time of the year. I asked the captain about it, and he said they would have no issue. We left the harbor, and the waves were pretty good size. The boat cut through them with no issues. The boat is a good size, about 35' x 55', and we were able to get up and walk around and take some great pictures. We took our own cocktails, and the crew had an ice chest to store them. The crew was very friendly, and the cruise was very relaxing. it was the best money spent while on our vacation.
I went three years ago, but since I'm not good at swimming, I gave up on snorkeling. The staff at that time seemed to suggest that people who can't swim shouldn't do it. This time, I went with my husband and decided to challenge myself, but it was still a bit scary... At that moment, a staff member encouraged me to hold onto the board. I was able to see fish and even encountered a sea turtle. I was able to get my revenge from three years ago. Thank you very much.

I think more variety of food, the free alcoholic needs more alcohol. The guy who goes around collecting trash missed us not once but twice. We waved at him several times but he still missed us.
Aloha Val, I'm sorry we didn't have enough of a variety of food to your liking. We couldn't serve you a completely authentic Hawaiian food buffet because you probably wouldn't eat it. We had to do more of a local variety of island favorites to have more of a Hawaiian/American buffet. We offer baked fish, grilled boneless chicken, kalua pork(cooked in the imu, or underground oven), and teriyaki beef along with a fruit salad, macaroni salad, pineapple cole slaw, white rice, plus lomi salmon,& poi(a hawaiian staple)....sweet rolls, and couple desserts. Truly that is quite a variety of food. Not sure how much alcohol you expected,...but we have had some feedback about certain drinks being too strong, so I'm surprised. I'm not sure why the guy collecting the trash missed you, but I apologize for him. Thank you so much for your feedback, and hope that you will one day return to our island and our luau again!! Mahalo, Germaine's Luau
Beautiful Experience, highly recommend!
Crew ❤️
Aloha! Thank you so much for joining our tour.
We participated with two adults and two children aged seven. Since we can't speak English, we hoped there would be Japanese staff, and we were pleased to find that there were indeed Japanese staff members. The explanations for activities like snorkeling were provided separately in Japanese and English, which made us feel very comfortable participating.
In particular, Yukiko, the Japanese staff member, was very kind to us. Thank you very much.
We were thrilled to see many turtles from the boat, and during snorkeling, we were lucky enough to encounter a turtle and swim together for a while. The hamburgers for lunch were also very delicious.
It was truly a satisfying tour. If we have the opportunity, we would love to participate again.
Such an amazing experience! I definitely would go again
I went with my 13-year-old son, my 10-year-old daughter, and my 68-year-old parents, making a total of six people. There were many local children, and while we were waiting in line, they casually talked to us and recommended other attractions. The woman who provided transportation between the hotel and Wet 'n' Wild was also easy to talk to, and thanks to her advice, we were able to have a meaningful time.
My daughter and I had a wonderful time at chief’s luau. The Chief was so funny and they all put on a great show! You could really feel the warmth of his personality shining through his speech and his humor made everything great. Tons of fire dancing, singing, story telling, and more dancing all around. Great food and great people to share the experience with. Felt like you were still in paradise. Definitely recommend purchasing close up seats and the lei package so you can get the full experience. Especially if it’s your first time in Hawaii. Totally worth every penny.
I was able to see a lot of sea turtles! The beautiful ocean and comfortable water temperature reminded me of my student days, and I was captivated by the fish, coral reefs, and the turtles. My three daughters, who were experiencing ocean leisure for the first time, initially said they couldn't touch the bottom, but they quickly got used to it and had an amazing time. We got plenty of great photos.
You need to take off your shoes when boarding. It's barefoot inside the boat. The luggage storage is just a case-like area, so it's best not to leave valuables behind. While you're having fun, you can come and go freely even without staff around, so self-management is important. The only money you'll need is for tips; there was also a paid shower, but we didn't have time to change and ended up getting on the shuttle bus in our wet swimsuits. We did put down a towel, but no one said anything about it.
The explanations are in English, but there are staff members who speak Japanese well, which is reassuring.
When the wind blew the float away, the staff went to retrieve it, and during snorkeling, we moved in groups with staff, so it felt safe, and they pointed out the turtle spots. The snacks on the boat were a nice treat during breaks. Although I didn't use it, there was also a restroom on board. Of course, you can use the parking lot restroom before boarding. It was a lot of fun.

Honestly, my expectations for this tour was not high. Reviews seemed mixed all around (i.e., Yelp, Google, etc.) and what I "really" wanted was the tour that had all the additional activities, i.e., banana boat, stand-up paddle board, but it was completely booked. However, the experience on this specific tour was sooooo much better that I anticipated. I booked the reservation for 17 (14 adults + 3 children), with most visiting from the East Coast mainland with even quite a handful of locals for which this was their first time to Sandbar, and they were more than accommodating to our large party. At first, I thought the time allocation was too short for each excursion (1. Sandbar (1-hr), 2. Turtle watching (15 min.); 3. Snorkeling (1-hr)), but it was perfect! Any longer and it would have felt drawn out. The lunch tasted better than I expected. Not too little and definitely not too much (otherwise the kids would have vomitted!). So don't be discouraged by it JUST being a BBQ burger -- you'll be pleasantly surprised. Drinks were available on board - non-alcoholic (free) and alcoholic ($5 each) and they had quite a variety so don't worry about being parched! The boat staff was super energetic and had a really cool vibe. They informed you ahead of time of all the do's and don'ts and was always available to answer any and all questions and concerns. And lastly, the Captain really made the trip memorable! He was a lot of fun and you just knew he loved his job. The weather was perfect, so that too, helped to make the day. Overall, it was a very memorable experience and I look forward to recommending this tour package to the rest of our family and friends, local and visiting.
Our family had an amazing time on this fishing trip. The crew was sooo friendly and kind! They were so helpful when I had to nurse my baby on board and they gave us ginger chews if we felt nauseous. We highly recommend them and would be so happy to come back.
Capt Bob's sandbar tour was awesome. Capt Eggy and crew were A+. The snorkeling around the mini pop up reef was the highlight of the day. Running around the sandbar was fun. Getting to see Honus along the way was spectacular. Lunch was good. Capt Eggy and crew were very accommodating to everyone's needs. Highly recommend taking this tour. It was worth it.
My adult daughter and teenage son and I had an amazing time. From the warm welcoming from the hula dancers and music being played to the staff. I had a reserved table with the view of the water. Beautiful set up. The food was delicious and beautiful presentation. Our waiter was very attentive. Enjoyed the dancers/performance and music. The fireworks show from Waikiki because it was on a Friday night was absolutely beautiful while being on the water. The fireworks were okay wished it was more of them but it was nice just the same. I highly recommend this cruise. We went in July 2022
Spectacular time. Terrific reef! 107 feet below the ocean.
Aloha Chelsea!
Mahalo for your 5-star review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your recent experience with us, aboard the Atlantis Submarine, from the shuttle boat ride to the deep-sea exploration. We love hearing from our guests and are thrilled to know you had a fantastic submarine adventure! Thank you very much for sharing your valuable feedback and recommendation.
We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future aboard one of our submarines and/or the Majestic by Atlantis Cruises for another Atlantis adventure; an underwater journey, sunset cruise, or seasonal whale watch cruise.
Feel free to follow us on social media at #atlantishawaii.
A hui hou (until next time).
Amazing experience. Great crew and the food. It's worth it.
A very great tour and guide , we really recommanded
The chefs Luau was the best one we have ever attended. Great seats, awesome atmosphere, wonderful food all topped off with a history lesson on Hawaiis culture. Then they threw in a little comedy and it was over the top. Grandkids loved it.
From check in to the end this was well organized. We loved our waiter, how our table was set for us, delicious drinks. The show while we ate our dinner was amazing they did a wonderful job, the music was also pleasant, and dessert was yummy, the view is breathtaking. We went in July so we did not need sweaters of any kind. We did not know if we'd get motion sickness, so we still took some dramamine an hour before and we did just fine. We also loved our picture a memory that we will forever have with us, worth the price!
This was a great way to get out on the water and see the Waianae Coast while watching the beautiful sunset!
The staff was outstanding and fun. The 10-minute boat ride was informative and not bad at all for those afraid of seasickness.
The pesto chicken wrap that came with the full day package was dry, it needed extra dressing. The included activities (kayak, paddle board, etc..) were good. Beach volleyball nets and balls were ok (bring your own ball if you have it), the sand had a lot of hard marble-sized cones from the surrounding trees, tough on the feet - good shade though.
We had a great time. Only negative thing I would say was it was a little long, we were finished and sitting around maybe 1 hour.
Mahalo for your review and leavng such incredible photos! We are so happy to hear you had a good time and we hope we will see you again next time you're in Hawaii!
First of all, the pickup did not arrive on time. I was anxious after waiting for nearly 30 minutes, thinking I might be at the wrong location.
Perhaps due to the bad weather, the sea did not look beautiful. It was very cold even though it was July.
Above all, I was disappointed that the sandbar was different from the promotional photos.
Overall the tour was nice but there were a few things I wish I had known beforehand.
1 - I went in July & the sandbar water height was about at my bottom (I'm 5' tall). It wasn't good for any toddlers because they wouldn't be able to stand on the sand, so we had to carry our 2 1/2 year old the whole time. Current is a little strong for the toddler too. I was hoping it would be the time of year where the water was below knee deep so the toddler can enjoy.
2 - the only activity on the sandbar was volleyball, which I don't play. Other tours had other activities listed on their tour which I wish this tour had, especially for the price! It was a more expensive tour than others & had less activities than other tours I was researching. Other tours had live music. For the price, it should have more perks, The only good thing was that this was available last minute & they got us in which I appreciated.
3 - The food was good & the hot chocolate at the end of the snorkeling portion was great! However, like some reviews said, you could at least give us fresh pineapple vs canned. That was horrendous for this being Hawaii. Burger, beans & bag of chips was perfect!
A cultural and historical event that any and every visitor to Hawaii should experience at least once. Not only is it a smooth operating show, but they did an outstanding job of explaining the historical reasoning behind everything.
The food was great and the hospitality was first class. Their location on the north side of the island was amazing and a counterpoint to the the South side. There's also the added benefit of being just down the road from famous Sunset Beach!
I wanted to see the Hilton fireworks, so I decided to join the dinner cruise the night before. I'm glad I could sign up on such short notice.
Every time I come to Hawaii, I've booked a dinner cruise, but honestly, I was surprised by the small boat and that dinner was a bento box. I was the only Japanese person who couldn't speak English well, and I was worried about what would happen if something went wrong. However, when I communicated my concerns to the staff, they reassured me that it would be fine and encouraged me to enjoy myself. They also made sure to take care of my drinks.
In the end, the bento box, which I was initially surprised by, turned out to be delicious on the boat, and I was able to eat it all. The fireworks were beautiful, and overall, I had a great time participating. (Having two drinks also lifted my spirits, haha!)
They pick you up, and going to the west side is so worth it to see! this tour was my families favorite of the tours we did!
The dolphins are so calm and friendly. My kids had the time of their life. Thanks!
Not what we expected, drove round the hillsides in a bus looking at sign boards that said what was filmed there. Holes dug in the ground claiming they were dinosaur footprints but had to be filled in because cows were falling in them. Also film props of bones that were too fragile to be touched as they will break as they were made of polystyrene... really!
800 Year Fish Pond. Learned about predator fish. Cool Boat Ride with Blue Water and Awesome View of Chinaman’s Hat!
