The sandbar, also known as the "Angel's Sea," refers to a white sandy beach that suddenly appears in the deep ocean.

Kaneohe Bay is originally a volcanic caldera lake with a large crater-like depression in its terrain. In ancient times, this depression became the sea, and the edges of the caldera acted as a breakwater, preventing large waves from entering the crater-shaped bay.

The white sandy beach within that depression is the sandbar.

The sandbar consists of only white sand and blue sea. Due to tidal conditions, the sandbar only reveals itself above the water during daytime tour hours about 60 days a year.

On the day I participated, the low tide occurred in the early morning hours, making it difficult to see the white sandy beach floating on the sea. However, I had the experience of walking on the white sand covered by knee-deep seawater in the middle of the vast ocean.

If you really want to see the sandbar peeking above the water, it's best to check the tide chart and confirm before arranging your flight tickets.

サンドバーは別名“天使の海”とも呼ばれ、深い海の中に突然現れる白い砂の浜辺のことを指します。

カネオヘ湾は、もともとが火山のカルデラ湖で大きなクレーター状の窪みのある地形。
太古の昔に、その窪みが海となり、さらにカルデラの山の縁の部分が防波堤の役割をはたし、クレーター状の湾に大きな波が侵入するのを防いでくれています。

その窪みの中にある白い砂浜、それがサンドバー。

サンドバーは白い砂浜と青い海、それしかないところです。
また、潮の関係で、サンドバーが日中のツアー時間帯に海上に顔をのぞかせるのは年に60日もないとのこと。

私が参加したこの日も、干潮の時間帯は朝の6時台でしたので、海に浮かび上がる白い砂浜を見るのは難しかったですが、大海原の真っただ中で、膝丈の海水が覆う白砂の上を歩くという経験が出来ました。

どうしても、海の上に顔をのぞかせるサンドバーを見たいという場合には、干潮表をチェックし確認をしてから航空券のチケットを手配する方が確実です。

天気も良く、ホエールウォッチング日和でした。
本当にクジラが見れるのか心配でしたが、何頭ものクジラが見れて興奮と感動でした。
食事は、それなりに美味しかったです。
船の中では、自由行動だったので過ごしやすかったです。
お勧めです。

There are several thrilling water slides, and I had a great time! You can experience a level of excitement that you can't find in Japan! I rode the slides while filming with a waterproof digital camera, and when I watched the footage later, it turned out to be really funny! It seemed like some slides were closed due to the off-peak season, which was disappointing, but then I noticed that one lifeguard was alternating between two slides, allowing us to slide about every 30 minutes. So, I was able to ride almost all the slides, which was great. The showers in the changing room don't have hot water... It's a bit cold, so it might be better to warm up in the jacuzzi before getting out! The wind was strong and a little chilly. Climbing the stairs to the slides while carrying a float is quite tough, but you'll want to ride them multiple times! There's also a kids' pool area with an athletic course and slides, which I think they will enjoy! I definitely recommend it.

絶叫ウォータースライダーが数種類あり、とても楽しかったです♪日本にはないスリルが味わえます！！防水用のデジカメで動画撮影しながらスライダーに乗りましたが、後から観たらとても面白い動画が撮れていました♪♪閑散期なのか、スライダーが休止中の物があり、ショックーーと思っていたら、二つのスライダーを１人の監視員さんが交替交替で観ているのか、およそ３０分毎くらいに隣同士入れ替わり入れ替わりで滑れるようになっていました。なのでほぼ全部のスライダーは乗ることが出来たので良かったです。更衣室のシャワーはお湯は出ません。。。少し寒いので、着替える前にジャグジーで体を温めてから上がった方がいいかも！風が強く、少し寒かったです。スライダーに乗る前の階段が浮き輪などを持って登るのはかなりきついですが何回も乗りたくなりますよ☆お子様用のプールコーナーもアスレチックやスライダーがあり、楽しめると思います♪ぜひお勧めです。

In the morning, I spotted a whale in the distance, and since it was far away, I was able to participate for free in the afternoon as well. In the afternoon, I was able to see the whale up close, which was amazing!! The crew was kind, and at the end, I could buy photos of the whales we saw today. I couldn't take good pictures with my own camera, so it became a nice memento. The food was delicious, but when you're engrossed in watching the whales, you don't have the chance to eat. I definitely want to participate again next time.

午前中、遠くの方にクジラを発見したのですが、遠かったということで、午後も無料で参加することができました。午後は近くでクジラを見ることができて最高でした！！
クルーの方も親切だったし、最後に今日見たクジラの写真を買うこともできます。
自分のカメラでは上手く撮れなかったので、いい記念になりました。
ご飯は美味しかったのですが、クジラに夢中になると食べる余裕がなくなっちゃいますね。
次回もまた参加したいです。

Great time - only drawback was it starts so early in the morning - hard everyone - not just the kids. But it was an amazing day!

I signed up for this experience because my companion, who was visiting Hawaii for the first time, wanted to go on a boat, see whales, and dance the hula—all in one package. Although the wind was strong, the boat was large enough that I felt comfortable. We saw the whales' tails twice. The activities were divided into three parts: hula, ukulele, and lei-making. My friend was thrilled to finally dance as she had always wanted. The staff was also very friendly. Next time, I want to go when the whales are more active.

ハワイが初めての同行者が希望した、船に乗りたい・クジラを見たい・フラダンスを踊りたいがまとめて叶うので、申し込みました。風が強かったですが、船が大きいので、弱い私も大丈夫でした。クジラは尾だけ２回見られました。フラとウクレレとレイ作りの３つに分かれて教えてくれました。友人は念願かなって楽しそうに踊っていました。スタッフも親切でした。今度はクジラが活発な時期に行ってみたいです。

The performances were so-so. The seating was not good even though
it was Royal seating. We didn't get our lei as promised. The food
was not very good for the price. The one saving grace was that the
staff was very nice. The young people who delivered the food was
thoughtful and polite and returned to see if we wanted more food.
The mixed drinks were no more than sugar water. I attended the
Sea Life Luau about 5 years ago and it was excellent.

I saw a whale. However, I couldn't take a good photo. I also saw a dolphin, maybe? It would have been better if the whale had made bolder movements.

クジラが、見えました。　でも、写真がうまく撮れませんでした。　イルカ？　かなー？もみれましたよ。もう少し、クジラさんの大胆な動きがあったら、よかったです。

The scenery was absolutely stunning, so I thought it was okay if I didn't get to see any whales. I was worried about getting seasick, but it was actually very comfortable and I didn't feel sick at all.

The whales surfaced several times, spouting water, and when they dove, I could see their large tails. Right after we set off, we saw a sea turtle, and on the way back, we were able to see a lot of flying fish. I'm glad I took the Navatek.

とにかく景色が素晴らしかったので、クジラに会えなくても仕方ないかと思ったくらいです。船酔いが心配だったのですが、実に快適で全く酔うこともありませんでした。
クジラは何度も海面まで上昇し潮吹きし、潜る時には大きな尾ビレが並んで見えました。出発してすぐにウミガメを、帰りにはたくさんのトビウオを見ることができました。ナバテック号に乗って良かったです。

It was amazing!! You absolutely have to do it!! Swimming with the turtles was truly the best moment! You definitely should do it when you come to Hawaii!

**Transportation to the Ship**
We were taken from the hotel to the dock in a large bus that could accommodate about 50 people. A robust-looking captain chatted with us during the ride, but it was in English. Laughing, I took this opportunity to enjoy a nice nap for about an hour both going and returning. Upon arrival, we were directed, "Japanese people go to that ship."

**Sandbar**
The weather wasn't very good, with no blue sky and lots of clouds. This is just bad luck, so there's nothing we can do about it... I had checked the tide schedule thoroughly, so the sandy beach was perfectly exposed. I was really moved by this! I absolutely recommend checking the tide schedule.

**Sea Turtles**
It seemed there were few sea turtles that day, and with my poor eyesight, I could only see them from a distance, so I couldn't get any photos. If you have poor eyesight but usually don't wear glasses, I recommend bringing your glasses.

**Snorkeling**
Many people tried snorkeling but quickly came back up, saying they were scared. I wasn't feeling well, so I just watched from above. My husband, who enjoyed it until the end, said it was beautiful.

**Meals**
We had hamburgers for our meal. They were quite tasty, but the wait time was incredible. There was probably a 30 to 40-minute gap from when the first person started eating to when the last person began. (I think it depends on the number of participants; there were about 35 to 40 people that day.) We were told to "please wait in line," but since we were towards the end of the line and it was too cold to bear, we waited in a spot out of the wind without lining up.

**Changing Area**
There wasn't one. I thought there would be one after getting off the ship, but there wasn't. It was okay to change in the restroom, and we were told we could just wrap ourselves in a bath towel and get on the bus. Honestly, the public restrooms outside were dirty, and there were too few of them, so women were forming lines, making it hard to change. Given that situation, I recommend preparing for changing accordingly.

**Guide**
There was an older gentleman who explained the schedule and how things would go. I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting a famous guide or something.

**Items Needed as of April 18**
Warm clothing!
A bath towel (which can also serve as warm clothing).

【船までの移動】
ホテルから、波止場まで50人くらい乗れそうな大型バスで連れて行ってくれました。
ガタイのいい船長さん風の方が移動中お話してくれましたが、英語。笑
これをいいことに移動中の1時間ほど、ゆっくり睡眠を行きも帰りも取れました。笑
到着してから、「日本人はあっちの船ね〜」と振り分けられました。


【サンドバー】
お天気があんまり良くなくて、青空がなく雲ばっかりでした。
これは運なので仕方がない。。。
潮の満ち引きはしっかり調べていったので、ばっちり砂浜が出ていました。
これには感動しました！！
絶対満ち引き、調べることをオススメします。


【ウミガメ】
この日は少なかったらしく、目の悪い私には遠くでしか出てくれず、見れませんでした。写真はもちろん撮れませんでした。
目が悪いけど普段メガネしていない方は、メガネ持って行くことをオススメします。


【シュノーケル】
1回は降りてみるものの、「恐い」と言って上がってくる人が多かったです。
私は体調が優れなかったので、上から見ていました。
最後の方まで愉しんでいた旦那は、綺麗だったと言っていました。


【お食事】
お食事はハンバーガー。普通に美味しかったですが、待ち時間が凄かった。
最初に食べた人から最後の人が食べ始めるまで、たぶん30〜40分くらいあったのでは？？（参加人数にもよると思うけど・この日は35〜40人くらい？）
「並んで待って下さい」と言われましたが、かなり最後の方だった私たちは、あまりにも寒くて耐えられず、風の当たらない所で並ばずに、列が減るのを待っていました。笑


【着替え場所】
なし。
船を降りればあるのかと思っていたけど、なし。
トイレで着替えてもいいし、バスはバスタオルを蒔けばそのまま乗ってもOKとのことでした。
正直、外の公衆トイレは汚いし、トイレの数が少ないから、女性は行列できるのに着替える気になれず。
そんな状態なので、そういう状況に見合った着替えをオススメします。


【ガイドさん】
スケジュールとやり方を説明してくれたおじちゃん。て感じでした。
名物ガイドさんとかいるのかと期待してただけに、ちょっと残念でした。

防寒着！
バスタオル（防寒着にもなる）

I think it's smaller than I imagined.
I believe you'll want to secure a spot first, but be careful as the area around the bodyboarding attraction gets wet from the splashes.
If you're expecting something as massive as Nagashima Spa Land, you might be mistaken, but if you don't mind the rough, American vibe, I think you'll enjoy it.

イメージしているより小さいと思います。
最初に場所取りをすると思いますが、ボディボードのアトラクション周辺は水しぶきで濡れますので注意した方が良いです。
長島スパーランドのような巨大な物を期待していくと間違いですが、アメリカンな大雑把な雰囲気が嫌いでないのであれば楽しめると思いますよ。

It was the last chance day. I finally got to see the whales that I had wanted to see for a long time. Thank you very much. Next time, I might be okay without a meal... because there were only a few options for food...

最後のチャンス日でした。以前から見たかったクジラさん達。今回のオプショナルツアーでやっと叶うことができました。ありがとうございました。次回は食事なしでもいいかな。。。と思いました。食事の種類がわずかだったので・・・。

This cruise exceeded our expectations. We thought we were hanging on the sandbar for a few hours having lunch and playing volleyball, but that was only the first part! We got to see sea turtles AND snorkel in the ocean by a reef. It was such an awesome deal for the price. I would highly recommend it; not to mention the crew was super friendly/helpful/accomodating.

It was very fun watching the whales and having excellent drinks! Very awesome experience!

The sandbar was enjoyable even for my mother, who can't swim. I asked the staff to take some photos, and they were clearly experienced, capturing the best moments and angles! We got some wonderful photos to remember the day. While snorkeling, I was able to swim alongside a turtle (honu) for about five minutes. The staff were all cheerful, and we had a great time.

Unfortunately, due to the cloudy sky, the sea didn't look very beautiful, and to be honest, it was a bit disappointing. The sea in Waikiki looked much clearer. There was no issue with the tour itself, but simply put, the color of the sea varies with the weather, so there's nothing we can do about that.

あいにく曇り空のせいであまり海も綺麗に見えず正直イマイチでした。これならまだワイキキの海の方が綺麗に見えました。ツアー自体に問題はありませんが、単純に天気によって海の色は違うのでこればっかりは仕方ないんだと思います。

From March 24, 2014, for one week, my family took our first trip to Hawaii (Maui). Since we weren't interested in package tours, I researched and chose one of the option tours myself. I was skeptical about whether we could really see whales so close to the port, but... it seemed like three whales were swimming together, possibly a mother and her calf? To my great fortune, one of the whales jumped out of the water! I couldn't help but let out a joyful shout. The boat searched around for spots where the whales might surface. Nearby, small boats seemed to gather, perhaps aware of the sonar capabilities of the Star of Honolulu. At the end of the enjoyable cruise, we were also able to see a pod of about ten dolphins, making it a truly satisfying whale watching experience.

２０１４年３月２４日から１週間、家族で初めてのハワイ（マウイ島）旅行でした。パッケージツアーに興味がないので、自分であれこれ調べてオプションツアーの一つとしてチョイスしました。港からそんなに遠くない範囲で本当にクジラを見ることができるのか半信半疑だったのですが・・・３頭が一緒に回遊していたようですが、親子でしょうか？なんと幸運にもそのうちの１頭のクジラが海中からジャンプしたのです。歓喜の叫び声が思わず漏れてしまいました。船はクジラ達が海面に出てきそうな場所を探して探し回ります。近くにはスターオブホノルル号のおそらくソナーの性能を知ってか小さなボートも群がってきますね。楽しいクルーズの最後には１０数頭の群れをなすイルカも見ることができて本当に満足のいくホエールウォッチングになりました。

This type of pool... I don't think there is anything like it in Japan? Anyway, it's so exciting!! It was great to receive the floatation devices down below and carry them up to slide down. It felt very homey... However, the equipment for the tornado was quite heavy. It was tough for us, with two adults and two young children!! But once you slide down, you forget all that effort and get really pumped up! No matter who you are, you feel like a kid again...

こんなタイプのプール。。日本にないのではないでしょうか？ とにかくエキサイティング！！ 下で浮き輪というか、乗る物を受け取って自分たちで運んで上から滑ってくるのが良かった。。何かとてもアットホームな感じで。。でも、トルネードで乗るものはかなり重くて。大人プラス低学年2人に私たちには辛かった！！ でも、滑るとその苦労も忘れるくらい、テンション上がります！ 誰が言っても子供に帰ります。。

I wanted to show my 5-year-old child a whale, but they got bored staring at the ocean for too long and were in a bit of a mood. However, they seemed to enjoy the buffet and ate a lot. We also had a great time making leis after the meal!

5歳の子供にクジラを見せてあげたかったのですが、ずっと海を眺めているのに退屈してしまい、ご機嫌ナナメ。でも、ビュッフェは楽しかったようで、モリモリ食べてくれました。また、食後のレイ作りも楽しかったです！

I participated because I wanted to see whales that are unique to this season. I didn't have high expectations since I heard mixed reviews about whether people saw them or not, but luckily, the weather was clear and hot that day, and I was able to see 5 to 6 breaches! I think I was very lucky. Since photos capture moments, it might be better to use video instead. Also, I opted for the breakfast option, but if you take your time eating, you might miss the moments, so it might not have been necessary. Sorry to the tour staff.

この時期ならではのホエールを見たくて参加。クチコミはあまり見れなかったとか見れたとか色々で運不運もあるかと期待しなかったのですが、この日は晴天で暑かったことも幸いしてか、5～6回の背うちが見れました！とてもラッキーだったと思います。写真は瞬間なので難しいのでムービーかビデオがいいかもしれません。それと朝食付きにしたのですが、ゆっくり食べていると瞬間見逃す場合もあるので無くてもよかったかもしれません。ツアーの方すみません。

TRAVELING: MOM/DAD/a 16 year old/3 year old / a 6 month old infant :)

Overall:
It was a good experience. But if I had to do it again, I would just stay on beautiful Waikiki beach.

RIDES:
Park is great and have a few good rides. It is not huge. The wave pool is the best :) Also they have some good pools and small slides for the 3-year old to have a lot of fun. Water was not 100% clean but acceptable. wave pool was very clean :)

FOOD: BAD BAD BAD!
Only negative is the food. They tell you "NO OUTSIDE FOOD" but the food court is really below average quality. Even for a park. And pricey. Eat a good/healthy breakfast and bring in a few granola bars, ... to keep me going until 3:30 when they close. It is not that long... you dont want to fill yourself up with greasy food when you are going on rides, anyway :) $9 french fries were really old and not attractive at all.

Transportation was great, on time, and friendly.

Overall we had fun and it was a good memory. Thanks.

I signed up because I wanted to take pictures of whales. Since it was the end of the season on April 13, and someone who went in January said they "didn't see any," I participated without much expectation... But, wonderfully, the whales showed up! In fact, they appeared 4 to 5 times (their heads?). I couldn't hear the captain's (or guide's?) announcements about whale sightings well in English, but I followed the dash of the foreign children, and somehow managed to take some pictures. It would have been perfect if I could have taken photos a bit closer, but seeing this much is enough, right!? I signed up without lunch this time, and it was the right choice because if I wanted to keep taking pictures, there wouldn't have been time to eat.

4/13ということでシーズン終わりで、1月に行った人が「見れなかった」と言っていたので、期待せず参加しましたが・・・。
見事、クジラさん出てくれました！それも4～5回（頭？）も！
船長（？）によるクジラ発見案内は英語でよく聞き取れなかったのですが、外国の子供たちの歓声とともにダッシュする後をついて行って、写真を何とか撮ることが出来ました。
もう少し近くで撮影することができれば最高ですが、これだけ見れれば十分でしょう！？
今回ランチなしで申し込みましたが、常に写真を撮りたかったら食事している暇はなかったので正解でした。

I was able to see 3 to 4 whales spouting water and showing their dorsal fins and tails at the surface of the sea. They appeared quite frequently, so it was a satisfying tour overall. It would have been amazing to see them jump, but perhaps they were tired, as they only swam at the surface.

３～４頭の鯨の潮吹きや背びれ・尾ひれを海面に出すところを見ることができました。結構な頻度で姿を現したので、それなりに満足できるツアーでした。
ジャンプまで見れれば最高でしたが、お疲れなのか海面を泳ぐまででした。

I had a wonderful experience.

The chief host was truly entertaining, and I was laughing from start to finish. I laughed so much that my stomach hurt. I even forgot to eat at the buffet and could only manage one plate.

I enjoyed the Polynesian dance and music, but I think the highlight of the show was the chief's comedic talk. It was filled with warm and witty comments, fun jokes, and stories that resonated with the heart amidst all the laughter.

However, most of the chief's jokes are geared towards adults. There were many small children present, and there were moments when they could participate in the show, but overall, I believe it is primarily an adult-oriented show.

I went with my daughter, but I highly recommend it for couples celebrating anniversaries. The chief will celebrate with you.

When I go to Hawaii again, I would love to attend this show once more.

素晴らしい思い出ができました。

司会のチーフの方が、本当におもしろくて最初から最後まで笑いっぱなしでした。
笑いすぎてお腹が痛くなりました。ビュッフェなのに食べるのを忘れて一皿しか食べられないほどでした。

ポリネシアンダンスや音楽も楽しめましたが、このショーの一番の売りはコメディアンでもあるチーフのトークだと思います。暖かく機転のきいたコメント、楽しい冗談、笑いの中にも心に響くお話と盛りだくさんでした。

ただ、チーフのジョークの内容はほとんどが大人向きです。小さいお子様たちも多くいらしていて、ショーに参加できる場面もありましたが、基本は大人のためのショーだと思います。

私は娘と行きましたが、カップルで記念日の参加はおすすめです。チーフにお祝いしてもらえます。

ハワイに行った時は、また行きたいと思います。

I had heard that it was the season to see a lot of whales, so I was a bit anxious about whether we would see any... but I was very satisfied because we saw plenty. The boat was also large, so I was glad I didn't get seasick. It was great that it was a morning tour, allowing us to return to the hotel around noon, so we could enjoy plenty of activities in the afternoon.

クジラが多く見れる時期と聞いていたので、見れるのかなぁ...と不安でしたが、いっぱい見れて満足でした。
船も大きかったので、船酔いしなくて良かったです。
朝からのツアーで、お昼頃にはホテルに帰ってこれるので、午後にたっぷり遊べるのも良かったです。

The crew was lively and it was a lot of fun. The sandbar was cloudy, and I thought it would have been even more beautiful if it had been sunny. I definitely want to try again next time.

Many attractions were closed on weekdays, which disappointed the kids. The all-you-can-eat barbecue included steak, chicken, potatoes, and salad, but the selection was lacking. I can't recommend this. However, I suggest that first-time visitors go during the hotter months.

平日だったのでやってないアトラクションが多々あり子供は残念がっていました。
食べ放題のバーベキューはステーキとチキン、ポテトにサラダと品数が？？これはおすすめできません。
まぁ、はじめて行かれる方は暑い時期に行かれることをお勧めします。
