First, it took too long for the service to bring the Mai Tai after we were seated... We missed the toast (crying).
We were guided to the buffet by table.
The food was neither particularly good nor bad. The sauce for the main roast beef didn't cling well to the meat. I wish there had been more variety in the desserts. I feel like the food was better when I attended before COVID. That said, I did go back for more roast beef (laughs). I think it would have been nice if they had labeled the dishes. Anyway, it was fully booked.

Such a fun night. The food options were delicious. The activities and vendors were interesting and informative. The show is very entertaining and fun to watch. The host, Paul, was fantastic and he made it special for my fiancé and l as he heard we got engaged a few days prior. We got to get our own dance along those who were celebrating anniversaries. That was such a sweet surprise and totally unexpected. I highly recommend luau! The transportation was also fantastic and super easy.

Our group was looking forward to our first luau and as we arrived at the destination it started raining. While the hosts were quick to hand out rain ponchos, the rain affected the event.

First, the hosts were rushed to get folks registered and get things moving. As a result, our group was never able to get our picture taken before the event started. Knowing this was an outdoor venue and its rainy season, I would have expected that certain things would have been under cover - like the photo area, the stage and honestly even the seating.

The food was under cover and was good. Not spectacular but good. A couple of our group had raw fish and were all sick that night so having certain foods outside for an extended period was not smart.

The performance from the warriors was good. They tried to show the different dress/dance of various polynesian groups but it would have benefited from more clarity on their differences as they all stared looking the same.

The ONE performance I was looking forward to was the fire dance. It was a disappointment. I expected all the adult performers to have choreographed a phenomenal dance of fire, complete with fire twirling, throwing etc. Instead they handed the "fire dance" off to one young boy for a solo act and two young boys to show off what they learned. YES, they were very good! but the magic of a "warrior tribe" dancing the fire dance was lost. The adults did come back for a grand finale - but it seems confusing at best.

The captain, crew, boat accommodations were all good - great! But the reason for this excursion was the snorkeling and that was just OK.

First the good: The crew did a fantastic job taking care of us all on the boat. They seamlessly prepped all the food without us realizing they were doing it, and then served it very effectively! It was really good and plenty of it. Gotta be fast to ask for seconds tho as the crew is very efficient cleaning up. The boat ride was also great!

Now the OK: I fully expected the crew would extend their care to the snorkeling adventure and split us up into groups and take us around the coral reef. They did not, and we were left to swim and fend for ourselves not really knowing how to navigate a reef without coming in contact with it, not really knowing what we should be looking for. I "happened" across a turtle that came up from the depths of the coral and almost collided with me... so I saw that one, but not much else because I wasn't sure what I should be looking at.

The window-side seat on the top floor had a great view and the food was delicious. However, the size of the steak was clearly smaller than those at the surrounding tables, which was disappointing. Additionally, they did not bring water to us or other Japanese guests.

I felt a bit sad about various things, but the evening and night views were wonderful, and we could see the fireworks well, so I think it was still a good experience. I believe those who participate can enjoy it if they have a relaxed mindset.

This time, I experienced a 90-minute sailing on the sea of Honolulu. During check-in, a lovely woman provided a detailed explanation, and on board, a cheerful male crew member offered various services. It was amazing to see the scenery from the sea, looking at the city of Honolulu, the hotels, Diamond Head, and the Pacific Ocean, which I usually viewed from the land. Although the weather wasn't perfectly sunny, I didn't get sunburned and enjoyed the pleasant sea breeze along with delicious free drinks served by the staff. I had beer, cocktails, white wine, and champagne, feeling pleasantly tipsy. With a capacity of 42 people, there were 14 of us (6 Japanese, 2 Australians, and others), and we had a wonderful time taking photos and chatting (I conversed with an Australian family).

Other activities that included dolphin encounters and snorkeling seemed too expensive, and I thought the snorkeling might scare the kids. Additionally, there were limited boat activities available for a one-year-old, so I thought this sailing would be just right and made a reservation. The size of the boat and the duration of the trip were perfect for the kids, and by chance, we were able to see a school of flying fish and a turtle, which was exciting. The waves made the boat bounce, and the splashes of water were fun for the elementary school kids, while the preschooler clung to me in fear. I couldn't let the one-year-old roam freely, but they fell asleep partway through, allowing us to enjoy the ride at a leisurely pace. It became a very enjoyable memory.

We participated in mid-October as a couple in our 60s. Among the approximately 20 participants from Japan, everyone except us were newlyweds. There were also couples from Australia who were retired.

Due to the timing, the tide was high, and the white sand was not visible until the tide went out. If you want to walk on the white sand shown in the photos, you'll need to adjust your timing for participation.

However, with the blue sky and sea, the uniquely shaped mountains visible in the distance, and the cheerful hospitality of the crew on board, I felt a sense of liberation. We also saw sea turtles and manta rays. I would like to participate again.

If you're looking for clearer water and a variety of fish while snorkeling, Hanauma Bay might be a better option.

Overall, excellent experience. The show was awesome showing the traditional style of dances and performances of the Hawaiian culture. The buffet itself had many selections to choose and eat. The most highlight of the show was the HA breath of life where it was the fire rings twisted by several different men on the show which was pretty cool. We also did the islands of Polynesia 2 hour guided tour where we sat down and peeled bananas and coconut looking like materials with the dressed up villagers on site.

I requested a private seat or a window-side seat. The seat was at the very back, right next to the aisle, and close to the restroom, with people constantly passing by, making it impossible to enjoy my meal in peace. Furthermore, the window was partially blocked by stairs and a wall, so there was hardly any sense of privacy or a window-side experience. I was very disappointed, especially since I paid an additional fee to participate. If it had been that seat without the extra cost, I could have accepted it as just bad luck, but given that I paid extra for such a terrible seat, I cannot recommend it... It was very disappointing as it was the last meal of my trip.

Once again Absolutely enjoyed all the entertainment and the meal the shredded pork melted in my mouth. I was there in 2018 and to far back to see the fish netting. Really looking forward to seeing the display this time but disappointed to hear the event has been discontinued. Overall great performance. The dancing to celebrate the lifting of the pig out of the pit was also excellent.

We utilized the service with my elderly grandparents and two young children, making it a three-generation experience. The staff were very kind, and I was impressed by their consideration for my grandfather in a wheelchair and their interaction with the children. The cruise ship was large and spacious, and the views were exceptionally beautiful. We chose a plan that included photos, and the pictures turned out to be surprisingly beautiful, capturing everyone well, so I was glad we opted for the photo package. Since we booked it for our last night, it was a wonderful experience to reflect on our trip to Hawaii while enjoying the night view of Waikiki.

I made a reservation for this day thinking it would be great to see the Hilton fireworks. Before boarding, we were welcomed with a show.

Once we boarded and were shown to our seats... I had the impression that in Japan, it's common for two people to sit facing each other, but we were seated side by side instead. I thought it was a considerate arrangement to make conversation easier, but it felt a bit awkward. In front of us were a child and their father seated in the same manner. Next to us was a Japanese couple seated facing each other... I was a bit confused about the seating arrangement.

Before I knew it, we set sail!! The sun gradually began to set.

The food was served in order after we departed. Honestly, there was quite a wait. We had salad, rice, yakisoba, sautéed swordfish, miso grilled chicken, and the main dish, roast beef. The taste was decent. Personally, I found the roast beef a bit too rare for my liking...

While the food was just okay, I really felt the hospitality from the dancers and staff. The show was a lot of fun, and the staff also showcased their dancing skills!! It was a bit strange, but it really got everyone excited!!

Finally, we returned to port after watching the Hilton fireworks. There were various ups and downs, but in the end, it was a very enjoyable time!!

徐々に日が沈み。サンセット！
料理は、出航してから順番に案内されます。正直、結構待ちます。
サラダ、ライス、焼きそば、カジキマグロのソテー、みそ焼きチキン、そしてメイン(？)のローストビーフ。
味は、そこそこおいしかったです。ローストビーフは自分的には少し生っぽくて・・・ダメでした。
ま、料理はそんな感じでしたが、ダンサーやスタッフの皆さんのおもてなしはすごく感じました。
とても楽しいショー、そしてスタッフも負けずとダンスを披露！！これがなんだか微妙なんですが、とても盛り上がりました！！
そしてヒルトンの花火をみて帰港。
いろいろありましたが、終わってみたらとても楽しいひと時でした！！

I thought I would have to join a half-day tour to see sea turtles, but I found a tour in the Waikiki area that only took about 2 to 3 hours, and it was really great.

The instructor continuously pointed out where the sea turtles were while we were snorkeling, so it was easy to follow along and see them! I was very happy to swim with several sea turtles. I plan to request this tour again when I go back to Hawaii.

半日かけたツアーに参加しないとウミガメには会えないかなと思っていたのですが、ワイキキ界隈で2、3時間程度で催行してくれるツアーでとても良かったです。

My husband and I had a fantastic day at the polynesian culture centre.
We went to many of the activities and to the Gateway dinner. We felt it was excellent and a beautiful display plus we learnt a lot.

I was particularly wishing to go to a Luau and that was what I thought I booked from Australia before we went.....however discovered while there that I had booked the Gateway dinner. Bit disappointed but the dinner was lovely and the whole experience fantastic!!! Thank you all so much...

Celebrating my wife's birthday on the Star of Honolulu! It was organized from the time we were picked up at our hotel by bus to being seated at our reserved table. The ship is divided by what package you purchase (excellent idea). We got a chance to watch fireworks from the Hilton Hawaiian Hotel beach. But was wonderful was the breezes off the ocean in addition to the wonderful sunset while you have your meal. Your meal is brought to your table by the fantastic wait staff. Live music is performed while dining. Later, there is a hula/chaka show. Before you know it, the night is over. My wife received a special birthday cake that was light as a feather and delicious. We ended our stay in Oahu with this dinner cruise. Best time spent. Would do it again just for the sunsets.

Buffet: Simply put, it’s not good. They advertise roast beef, but it’s just tough. I was astonished that they would serve this quality of food for this price. I think it’s better to buy prepared food at ABC Store.

Staff: I believe it’s just a lack of training, but the quality of guidance and service is not good. The waiter was unfriendly, and after disembarking, there was no greeting or farewell atmosphere; it felt like they were just rushing us off the ship and onto the bus.

Show: They are desperately trying to hype things up. Despite that, the singing isn’t good; it felt like they were just trying to create an atmosphere of excitement by getting everyone to dance. At the end, they called out someone celebrating a birthday, but the surrounding atmosphere was filled with a sense of “???” which made it quite awkward.

Tour Company: They are just replying with template responses to experience posts, so I don’t think there will be any dramatic improvements in the future. They write things like “to strengthen customer service,” but I doubt it will get better.

Sunset: It looks great for photos from the ship. I think it’s better to take proper shots with a DSLR or something similar.

Fireworks: It’s nice that you can see them from the ship. Since people start reserving spots fairly early, it’s better to secure a place for the fireworks rather than watching the meal or show.

Overall: If you’re going to spend this much, I think it’s better to choose another restaurant or upgrade your hotel. Unless you absolutely want to see the fireworks from the ship, I don’t think it’s worth participating, especially on a trip to Hawaii.

ビュッフェ:シンプルに美味しくないです。ローストビーフを謳っていますが、とにかく硬い。この金額を出してこのクオリティの料理を出されるのかと呆れるレベルです。普通にABCストアでお惣菜を買った方がマジだと思います。
スタッフ:練度不足なだけとは思いますが案内やサービスの質は良くないです。ウェイターは無愛想、下船後は挨拶もお見送の雰囲気もなくとにかく船から降ろさせてバスに乗せる作業をしている感じでした。
ショー:とにかく盛り上げようと必死。その割に歌は上手くない、とにかく踊らせて盛り上げてる感を何とか作り出したいという感じでした。最後にお誕生日の方が呼ばれていましたが、周りの雰囲気としては「???」という空気感で何とも言えない微妙感満載でした。
ツアー会社:体験談の投稿に関して定型文で返信してるだけなので今後劇的に改善されることは無いと思います。「カスタマーサービス強化のための〜」とか書いてありますが、まあ良くなることは無いでしょう。
サンセット:船上から見るので写真映えはします。一眼レフなどでしっかり撮影した方が良いと思います。
花火:船上から見られるのでそこは良いと思います。ある程度早い時間から場所取りが始まるので食事やショーを観るくらいなら花火を観るための場所取りをして待機しておくくらいの方が良いと思います。
総評:この値段を出すくらいなら他のレストランを選ぶことや宿泊ホテルのグレードを上げる方が良いと思います。絶対に船上からの花火を観たいという人以外はせっかくのハワイ旅行ですので参加するべきでは無いと思います。
