After the ship set sail, I enjoyed the view from the boat and thought, "I wonder if they'll come out today? When will they come out?" I had seen something like a spout once, so I was hopeful, but they didn't show up for a while. Just when I thought it was over, they jumped out in succession.

I'm really glad I got to see them. I appreciate the captain for extending the trip a bit since they came out towards the end!

Our family's first trip to Hawaii
I wanted to participate in something we can't easily do in Japan, and while I thought it was a bit pricey for four people, I went ahead and booked it.
It started with a welcoming dance, and the boat was calm, the weather was great, and the scenery was amazing. The sunset and night view were beautiful.
I didn't have high expectations for the food (sorry), but everything was delicious, and the drink plan included non-alcoholic cocktails, which the kids loved.
We made a reservation to see the fireworks on Friday, and watching the Waikiki fireworks from the boat was magical as they reflected on the water.
After that, we had a blast at the Hawaiian dance show. Passengers stood up together, put their hands on each other's shoulders, formed a circle, and danced. It was so much fun!
Many Japanese people watched from a distance, but my husband and I happily danced with the foreigners. I suddenly thought the kids might be embarrassed, but when I turned around, I was surprised to see our high school-aged eldest son joining in and having a great time.

Sometimes it's nice to indulge! 👍 This was a rare opportunity and became a wonderful memory for our family.

歓迎のダンスから始まり、船も静かで天気も良く景色も最高。夕日も夜景もきれいでした。
あまり期待していなかった（ごめんなさい）料理はどれも美味しくお2杯プランについていた飲み物もノンアルのカクテルもあり
子供たちも大喜び。
金曜日の花火に合わせて予約をし船から見るワイキキの花火は海面に映って幻想的でした。
そのあとは、ハワイアンダンスショーで大盛り上がり。乗船客も一緒に立ち上がり肩に手をかけ一つの輪になり回ったり踊ったり、
めちゃくちゃ楽しかった‼️
日本人は遠くで見ていた方が多かったけど構わず外国人たちに混ざって夫婦で楽しく踊っていた時、ふと子供達がもしかしたら引いてるかも、と振り返ると高校生の長男も後ろで盛り上がりノッて踊っていてびっくり。

たまには贅沢も👍こんな機会はなかなかないなぁと家族みんなの良い思い出になりました。

On this day, there were clouds, and I couldn't see a beautiful sunset. The sunset peeking through the clouds was pretty, but it was a bit disappointing. However, I think the weather is something you can't help.

Regarding the food, the lobster was okay, but everything else was... not great. I had low expectations for the dishes since I had read everyone's reviews beforehand, but the only thing that was really delicious was the pineapple juice.

Towards the end of the meal, there was a show featuring traditional Hawaiian dance. I thought this was not bad. The distance to the dancers was close, and I enjoyed it.

We had the pleasure of standing by the naturalist, Alyssa for most of the trip and she was very informative and a joy to be around. We saw a momma and her calf breach, and several fluke tail breach’s. The star itself had a ton of space to allow families to spread out and was clean. What a great experience!

At 200 feet, the Star is steady in the morning sea. The crew is knowledgeable and helpful. We were given a brief lesson in whale anatomy, diet, and behavior before we set out. We understood the challenges and likely outcomes of our trip. We did see whales. We would have liked to have seen more, but we were well prepared for the visit we received. I was worried about getting seasick, but it was no problem at all. I had a great time with the best crew. The Mai Tai was delicious, and I may have had a bit too much, but my wife also said it was the best among the optional tours, so it became a wonderful memory. Just be careful not to drink too much since there are no restrooms!

The ship was packed with activities that kept us entertained! I thought I would be fine, but even on such a large and impressive ship, I felt a floating sensation that made me wonder how it would turn out. However, I took a chance and asked if they had any motion sickness medication, and they readily provided it. They suggested mixing it with ginger ale, which I did. I’m grateful for that because it really helped!

As for the meals, well... I can't say they were very delicious! The roast beef was tough as well.

大丈夫！と思っていた船酔いがいくら大きい立派な船でもフワフワ浮遊感がし、どうなることかと思ったのですが、一か八かで酔い止めあるか聞いた所すんなりもらえ、ジンジャエールと飲むといい！と言われのみました。

The meeting place was the same as other tours, so our group was trying to board a different boat and everyone was stopped. It was a bit confusing, so I would appreciate it if that point could be improved.

Fortunately, we were able to see whales during this season, which became a wonderful memory.

Since it was the last day of our stay and I was sleep-deprived, I ended up feeling seasick despite taking motion sickness medication, which was disappointing, but the scenery was fantastic from start to finish! Thank you very much!

All of the staff on the boat, from the Captain to the servers were all very nice, accommodating and service minded. Joshua did a great job answering questions and adding nuggets of knowledge about the trip. The ship was in great condition and prepared for the cruise, and it made for a very relaxing and comfortable voyage.

Unfortunately, we didn’t see any whales on this tour, but as a fisherman, I understand the difference between fishing and catching, and sometimes the fish just aren’t cooperating and ya just need to relax and enjoy the beauty. But, the most important thing is, as Larry Fleet says in the song “Where I Find God”, “you can’t find Peace Like this in a bottle or a pill”.

I would do this trip again in a heartbeat, and if we see a whale, that would just be lagniappe!

I had previously used the Star of Honolulu for the sunset dinner cruise, but this was my first time participating in another activity. I was able to see whales from a distance. From the boat, I could enjoy the urban skyline of Waikiki alongside the natural beauty of Diamond Head, which truly felt like a Hawaiian landscape. The light snacks, like pineapple banana bread and Kona coffee, were delicious, making this activity enjoyable both as a whale watching experience and simply as a cruise.

We participated with four adults and a 0-year-old and a 3-year-old, bringing a foldable stroller. The elevator was available, so moving to the deck was not an issue, but we couldn't change diapers (we used the stroller to do so). The stroller was necessary for our subsequent plans, but we could leave our belongings at the table we were initially guided to, so it was great that it didn't get in the way while watching the whales.

I believe seeing the whales was purely luck, but in February, we were able to see them well! Fortunately, two whales swam back and forth quite close to the surface multiple times, allowing us to capture them with our eyes, not just on video or in photos. The captain announced in English, "They're at 10 o'clock!" or "9 o'clock!" and we moved based on that and hints from those around us. There was one person who could speak a little Japanese, so for those who are not confident in English, it might be a good idea to stick with that person. By the way, my family also saw dolphins and turtles... I'm envious!

On the way there and back, we had English-speaking guides. Both were cheerful individuals. Especially on the way back, they were flexible, changing our drop-off location and accepting requests for unscheduled stops. The tour ended before noon, and I was thinking about going to Ala Moana Shopping Center afterward, but I was unsure how to get there. However, since it was possible to get off the bus along the way, I wanted to make good use of that... but due to various circumstances, we ended up getting off at our hotel.

I want to come back again when the kids are older!

0歳3歳大人4人、折り畳めるベビーカー持参で参加しました。エレベーター完備なので、デッキへの移動は問題ないのですが、おむつ替えは出来ませんでした(ベビーカーを使って換えました)。その後の予定のために必要だったベビーカーですが、最初に案内されるテーブルに荷物を置いて行けるので、鯨を観る時には邪魔にならず良かったです。

鯨は完全に運だとは思いましたが、流石に2月！しっかり会えました。たまたま2頭が結構近くの海面を何度も行ったり来たりしてくれたお陰で、ビデオや写真だけに追われず肉眼でも捉える事ができて、ラッキーでした！船長さんが、10時にいるよ！とか9時方向だ！とか英語でアナウンスしてくれるのと、周りの人をヒントに移動しました。お一人、日本語が少し話せる方もいたので、英語苦手な方はその方にくっついていくのもありかもです。
ちなみに、私の家族はイルカとカメも見たとの事…羨ましい

行き帰りは英語のガイドさん。行きも帰りも、陽気な方達でした。特に帰りは、降りる場所を変更してくれたり、予定外の停車場所もリクエスト受け付けてくれたりと、臨機応変に対応していました。ツアーが昼前に終わるので、その後はアラモアナショッピングセンターでと考えていましたが、どうやって行くか悩んでいました。でも、バスの途中下車が可能との事でこちらを上手く活用…したかったのですが、色々あって結局自分達のホテルで降りました。

子供が大きくなったらまた来てあげたいです！
