The luau was not very good. We were sent there 2 hours before the luau and the activities prior were not alot of fun and too many people to even enjoy. Should have offered some kind of appetizer, but they were trying to get you to buy snacks and drinks. The food was ok. The only thing really good was the pork. Show was ok, but a little hokie. This luau is not what I was expecting.

I checked the travel time and aerial photos of the ranch on Google Maps to familiarize myself with the geography, then entered the address into the GPS of the rental car and headed there. I arrived in about an hour and a half without getting lost. I drove along the coastal road, and after entering an unpaved road marked by signs, I came to a parking area that also serves as a square on the left. On the right side of the square, there are restrooms, a handwashing area, playground equipment, and about 20 goats.
In front of the square, there is a small hut where I parked my car on the right side and handed my voucher to the person inside the hut to check in. To the left of the hut, there were about 10 horses tied up, along with free-roaming donkeys, dogs, and a rooster wandering around, which came close enough to pet while waiting for the start. I agreed to and signed the English waiver (which states that horseback riding carries risks such as falling, and the ranch is not responsible for them) and chose a helmet. The helmet has a dial at the back for size adjustment.
A man from the ranch approached me and mentioned that they take paid photos during the ride, so I signed up. It was about $40 for a set of two. I made the payment by credit card on the spot, provided my email address, and received a receipt that included a note saying, "Your photos are in the Scene C folder from 7/28. Please enter the password ◯◯ to open and download them," along with the address of the Gunstock Ranch website, where dozens of photos were uploaded later.
We were on a 90-minute course, and both my group and the other participants were families with children aged 7 to 9, totaling 8 people. Two female staff members guided us in a line at a leisurely pace. At a hill where we could see the ocean, we were able to hand over our cameras to have photos taken. After that, we returned down a small hill.
Although no Japanese was spoken, we were able to communicate with basic middle school English. The instructions for riding, turning, moving forward, and stopping were simple. The horses were calm and followed commands well, but occasionally they would stop completely, and when I was struggling, they would relieve themselves.
Also, I highly recommend wrapping a scarf around your neck, as it can get sunburned during the long ride. I couldn't help my child when they were scratching their neck from the sunburn.
After the ride, each child received a sugar cube at the hut to feed the horses, and the horses licked their palms. (There is soap and napkins available at the handwashing area.) It seemed that 90 minutes was long for the children, but it was a great experience since riding alone is not something they can do in Japan. They provided smaller horses for the kids, and there was no sense of danger.
At the end, I received a discount card for the next visit. It was a wonderful experience to leisurely stroll around the spacious ranch on horseback.

Paradise Cove Luau was a great cultural experience. There were many activities that got you involved with the Hawaii culture. Some of my favorites where the spear throwing, lei making, and the canoe rides in the cove. They also had special events that taught you a little bit about the Hawaiian history, like old fashion ways of fishing. The food at Paradise Cove could have had a better selection, but their fried chicken and mixed drinks were phenomenal. When it came time for the dinner show I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I definitely enjoyed the out come. The show was beautiful and told multiple stories of native legends. The costumes and stage props were extravagant and made me feel as if I was in paradise. I personally wished the show was a little bit longer but it was a great show. I would recommenced that families take their young children to watch this show because not only is it fun to watch, but its also very engaging, and can be educational.

We had a fantastic time at Paradise Cove Luau. We almost were not going to book this Luau due to reading some bad reviews, but so glad we did! As soon as we boarded the bus to get there, the tour guide (Cousin Katie) made the trip so much fun. There were a variety of activities to participate in before the Luau commenced, such as canoe rides, flower lei and headpiece making, archery, bowling and temporary tattoos. The Luau itself was amazing! The dancers were great and the costumes very colorful. The food was very nice and the pork especially yummy! I would definitely recommend this, especially for families.

According to this experience, there were almost no Japanese people present. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that there were none except for our family.
We took two large buses from Waikiki to Paradise Cove in the Ko Olina area. It took about 40 to 45 minutes. There was an explanation about the venue on the bus, but everything was in English, so I couldn't understand what was being said. However, it was okay not to catch everything. They repeatedly reminded us of the bus number for the return trip, so as long as you remember that, you’ll be fine.
Once we arrived at the venue, we received a Mai Tai and headed to our assigned seats. From there, we had about two hours of free time until the show started. I think it's more fun to actively participate in the activities inside the venue! I rode something like a sea kayak, and it was a lot of fun☆
The hula we saw, accompanied by the blowing of the conch shell, was really beautiful against the sunset. I felt that it was worth coming just for that.
We chose the standard course, and we were satisfied with both the meal and the seating. The salmon poke and fried chicken were delicious. The course includes two alcoholic drinks, which was more than enough. Both the taste and appearance were tropical and very tasty. The show was also authentic and we got to see plenty of it. There was a guest participation time during the show as well. It was fun to watch foreign guests participate enthusiastically without feeling shy(^^).
The return trip was lively with foreign guests, but I ended up sleeping soundly.
While there was a sense of being in the minority without any Japanese people, I enjoyed the feeling of being in a foreign country, which I didn’t feel much in Hawaii. Also, the beauty of the sunset in the Ko Olina area and the starry sky is something you can't experience in Waikiki.

We participated as a couple. The staff were very kind, and although I'm not very good at English, I didn't have any trouble. The food and the onboard shows were also very satisfying. However, the vow renewal was a bit underwhelming. During the meal, we were called to the edge of the deck with something like "Come here for a moment," where the captain performed the ceremony, but it didn't have the excitement of a wedding. Well, that might be expected. Still, making our vows with Diamond Head in the background was a wonderful memory. We were told to dress formally, so we both wore aloha shirts, but it seemed like we were in the minority and stood out a bit. The people around us didn't seem to be dressed so formally.

I read about this experience beforehand, so I was prepared for the fact that Japanese wouldn't be understood. From the moment we were waiting for the bus at the Sheraton Aloha Landing, the atmosphere was unpleasant, and sure enough, my husband and I were the only Japanese on the large bus. Even when the guide was getting everyone excited, we were completely lost... The only thing I understood was that the bus we were on was number 4. It's important to remember this since we would be taking the same bus back (the return bus departs after everyone has boarded following the show).
After arriving, we put a sticker on our chests according to our seating class, received leis, and enjoyed a welcome drink of Mai Tai before moving on to take photos with the dancers.
While wandering around the venue, a Japanese staff member named Yuji approached us and explained various things. Since I was the only Japanese staff member there, he told me to call him if anything came up... His angelic words made me feel so much better.
The show itself was simply amazing and full of excitement! I won't write about the content here, so it's something to look forward to when you go.
If you're seated in the Orchid section, you receive a prepaid card worth $16 per person, so I recommend using it early. Drinks are generally around $7 to $11, and there are souvenir shops, so it's easy to spend it all.
After the show, the dancers will pose for photos in front of the bus. This could also be a fun experience!
When we were getting on the return bus, I told the guide in broken English that it was our 5th wedding anniversary and that we had our ceremony at the Crystal Chapel next door. He looked sad and said, "Why didn't you tell me?" It seems that if you mention special occasions to the guide beforehand, something fun awaits you later. We probably talked about it on the way to the venue, but we were completely lost...
It was disappointing not to understand the language, but everything else was perfect! Among the approximately 500 guests, we only met one other Japanese couple, but I think that’s the charm of experiencing a foreign country. The enthusiasm of the foreigners is fantastic, so it's important to enjoy yourself without being shy.
I want to participate again next year. Now, I really need to study English!!!

I usually take riding lessons, so I thought I would be able to ride at the polo field by participating in this, but that wasn't the case. It was just a so-called experience ride, where we walked at a leisurely pace along the side roads and by the sea. I thought we could walk along the beach, but the waves were rough, and we couldn't get close. When I asked the guide (who seemed to be the youngest in a family business), she said it’s always rough there. The photos posted by Alan 1 were just taken on the beach for the purpose of photography. After it was over, I mentioned that I couldn't do any cantering, and I was told there is an advanced course that has a reservation for tomorrow, but since I was returning home the next day, I had to regretfully decline. It's a shame that Alan 1 didn't have that course available.

We loved this luau! Our tour guide, Cousin Rich, was HILARIOUS and memorized everyone's name on the bus!! He took great care of us, and even sang us a lullaby on the way home...he's got one heck of a voice!
The games before the luau started were short & fun, and the hula dancers were great!! This was the first activity on our Honeymoon, and we were not disappointed. The emcee even mentioned our names during the show and had us get up to dance near the stage to the Hawaiian wedding song...it was an amazing experience. The food was good, the show was excellent, and the location was like a postcard! Singers, hula dancers, and fire twirlers were all part of the evening, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was definitely a luau experience I wanted to try at least once. In the reviews, someone mentioned, "The guide for the shuttle bus was a wonderful DJ, so we had a great time on the bus." They must be fluent in English. We were completely lost; even my grandchild, who has a pre-2nd grade English proficiency, said they couldn't catch much due to the accent. The welcome drink, Mai Tai, was just a weak flavor after the ice melted. The food was just as described in the reviews. However, the performances by the dancers were truly amazing; just thinking about it makes my heart warm. There were many disappointments, but I still recommend experiencing it at least once.

We participated as a group of 15. Although there were some concerns since it wasn't widely introduced by Japanese travel agencies, all participants were very satisfied. Especially since some were visiting Hawaii for the first time, the lei service and Hawaiian cocktails (Mai Tai) served upon arrival created the perfect feeling of being in Hawaii. We thoroughly enjoyed the events and shows at the venue. Here are a few points to note: 1) Since it's a foreign country, being able to engage in simple everyday conversations in English will enhance your experience. The staff only speaks a little Japanese. 2) There are no Japanese announcements at the venue, but a Japanese explanation sheet is provided outlining how the activities will proceed. 3) The participation fee includes coupons that can be used at the souvenir shop and drink corner (for about two drinks). Additionally, I would like to suggest to the VELTRA representative: 1) It would be better to distribute Japanese guidance documents to everyone. 2) The Japanese guidance document should include that activities will be announced with a conch shell sound ⇒ Let's move towards the sound of the conch shell. 3) If you have a special occasion (like a birthday) on the day, please inform the staff ⇒ There might be a surprise! I believe that if these points are added to the Japanese guidance document, even without Japanese announcements at the venue, tourists from Japan will be able to enjoy themselves fully. I hope you can convey this to the local planning team.

My husband and I attended the luau while on our honeymoon. The emcee was great she had a very pleasant way about her. The food was good although I was surprised to see fried chicken on the buffet. We paid for the orchid seating but after seeing how the dining area was arranged I think the regular seats would have been fine. My favorite part was the chief with the fire, that was exciting!

I have lived in Hawaii since 1985. My niece from Indiana visited for a week. I took her on the Star of Honolulu Sunset Dinner Cruise, having never been on it myself. I didn't know what to expect. It was awesome! We both loved it. The pre-boarding hula & Hawaiian music, the on-board entertainment, the food, the views and the friendly staff were all very enjoyable. When other friends and family come to visit, I will be sure to take them. It was the highlight of my niece's visit!

My husband and I attended on our last full day at Hawaii and I am sooooooooo happy that we did. I think this was a great way to end our vacation even though we hated having to leave the beautiful island! This place, the venue, the set-up, activities, dinner, drinks and show was just AMAZING to say the least. The staff, especially cousin Rich(ie), he was the best bus guide/tour guide/table attendent/just overall everything the best. He was able to memorize all of our names before we arrived at Paradise Cove and there were at least 50 minimum on the bus. Even more amazing during the festivities he checked on everyone to make sure we all had what we needed and if we had any questions/help he assisted. Now that's what I call excellent customer service! (there were hundreds of other people at the luau). To sum it all up, upon return to Hawaii I will definitely go back to Paradise Cove. Best Lava Flow drinks, met some great people, fantabulous show and created lifetime memories !!!!!!!

Love, love, loved the dinner cruise. This was our first time in Hawaii and I must say I am happy that we chose this as one of the activities to attend to. From the very beginning when we got picked up from the hotel, welcoming at the cruise ship, dinner, entertainment and fireworks, this is definitely a night that will be forever cherished. The staff was amazingly helpful and attentive especially our table server Rosey, she constantly made sure we had enough crab (purchased steak and all you can eat crab meal) and glasses were filled with drinks. Just AWESOME!!! The music and performers were great as well. At the end of the night we watched fireworks out on the deck. Overall my husband and I had a most memorable evening and recommend if you have not already done so this is one of the a Hawaii activities you don't want to miss!!!

What a great time we had at Paradise Cove. The activities were fun and informative. Dinner was yummy. I really enjoyed the poi and coconut milk dessert. This brought back memories of when as a child I was at Schofield Barracks (Dad stationed there.) for 4 years. So glad we booked this tour with Veltra.
Thank you so much for choosing Paradise Cove Luau to be apart of your vacation. we are glad that you had fun and enjoyed yourself. Mahalo Nui Loa.

Thank you very much for boarding the Star of Honolulu.
In Hawaii, the Aloha shirt is considered formal attire, and many people wear it. It's similar to the feeling of wearing traditional clothing in Japan.
We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the shows and meals.
All of our staff are looking forward to your next visit.
