Oahu
I visited the Dole Plantation. The tour description on the website mentioned enjoying the pineapple train or maze for 90 minutes, but I believe this should be corrected as it refers to the upper section of the Dole Plantation. The North Shore was nice, but I had too much time there, which made it a bit boring. I couldn't see the sea turtles coming ashore, but it was great to see them swimming.
The staff was great. The ride was amazing, the whole scene and nature was beautiful. Would definitely recommend to my friends.
It was a bit disappointing that, perhaps due to it being the peak summer season, there were many participants, which caused delays in pickup and made our subsequent schedule quite packed.
At the Dole Plantation, during our brief 15-minute stop, we managed to eat the famous pineapple ice, buy souvenirs (the shop here is really well-stocked), and use the restroom. We didn't stop in Haleiwa Town, but we took the garlic shrimp to go and ate it after arriving at "Happy Trail." It took just 10 minutes.
Overall, it was a very busy tour, but the horseback riding was fulfilling since we had 90 minutes for it. There were some steep slopes that made me a bit nervous, but as long as you trust the horse and stay calm, you'll be fine. Only the kids wore helmets, so it might be better to have a hat. We left large bags in the car and only took valuables in a special bag attached to the horse. You can take photos freely while on the horse. Since you'll have one hand free, I think it's better to use a camera with a wrist strap instead of a smartphone, as it feels risky to drop a phone.
We saw sea turtles! There were some basking in the sun and others swimming with their heads popping up.
In one tour, we experienced a lot: the sea, mountains, pineapples, horses, and sea turtles. It was a fun and packed itinerary, though the travel time felt a bit long.
I participated with my first-year middle school daughter. She has been interested in horseback riding since she was little, and although she had some experience with lead riding, this was her first time riding seriously. We were torn between the seaside course and the Haleiwa course, but since we had never been to Haleiwa, we chose the Haleiwa and Dole combo canyon plan. The Dole pineapple ice cream is incredibly delicious. The garlic shrimp in Haleiwa was also tasty! The guide explained the characteristics of the many shops, and we were able to choose which ones we wanted to visit. For the canyon horseback riding, the guide advised us on how to ride and other important points beforehand, so we were able to start without any anxiety. We were blessed with good weather, and the sunlight filtering through the trees in the quiet canyon was very magical and beautiful. After passing through the canyon, we were greeted by the stunning blue ocean of the North Shore! I recommend bringing a camera since you can take photos. There was a bag attached to the saddle that could hold a camera and a water bottle. We even got to see sea turtles, and we were very satisfied with this packed experience.
I checked the travel time and aerial photos of the ranch on Google Maps to familiarize myself with the geography, then entered the address into the GPS of the rental car and headed there. I arrived in about an hour and a half without getting lost. I drove along the coastal road, and after entering an unpaved road marked by signs, I came to a parking area that also serves as a square on the left. On the right side of the square, there are restrooms, a handwashing area, playground equipment, and about 20 goats.
In front of the square, there is a small hut where I parked my car on the right side and handed my voucher to the person inside the hut to check in. To the left of the hut, there were about 10 horses tied up, along with free-roaming donkeys, dogs, and a rooster wandering around, which came close enough to pet while waiting for the start. I agreed to and signed the English waiver (which states that horseback riding carries risks such as falling, and the ranch is not responsible for them) and chose a helmet. The helmet has a dial at the back for size adjustment.
A man from the ranch approached me and mentioned that they take paid photos during the ride, so I signed up. It was about $40 for a set of two. I made the payment by credit card on the spot, provided my email address, and received a receipt that included a note saying, "Your photos are in the Scene C folder from 7/28. Please enter the password ◯◯ to open and download them," along with the address of the Gunstock Ranch website, where dozens of photos were uploaded later.
We were on a 90-minute course, and both my group and the other participants were families with children aged 7 to 9, totaling 8 people. Two female staff members guided us in a line at a leisurely pace. At a hill where we could see the ocean, we were able to hand over our cameras to have photos taken. After that, we returned down a small hill.
Although no Japanese was spoken, we were able to communicate with basic middle school English. The instructions for riding, turning, moving forward, and stopping were simple. The horses were calm and followed commands well, but occasionally they would stop completely, and when I was struggling, they would relieve themselves.
Also, I highly recommend wrapping a scarf around your neck, as it can get sunburned during the long ride. I couldn't help my child when they were scratching their neck from the sunburn.
After the ride, each child received a sugar cube at the hut to feed the horses, and the horses licked their palms. (There is soap and napkins available at the handwashing area.) It seemed that 90 minutes was long for the children, but it was a great experience since riding alone is not something they can do in Japan. They provided smaller horses for the kids, and there was no sense of danger.
At the end, I received a discount card for the next visit. It was a wonderful experience to leisurely stroll around the spacious ranch on horseback.
I chose the free time plan because I wanted to relax in the town of Haleiwa. During the waiting time, I had the opportunity to talk with the driver and shared our action plan (wanting to eat garlic shrimp and chicken from Fumi's, and enjoy some Matsumoto's Shave Ice, as well as relax at the beach). The driver kindly offered to guide us. Since there were only two small groups exploring Haleiwa, we might have been lucky, but we stopped at the shrimp and chicken place to shop, and then he took us to the beach. With small children in tow, we were quite relieved not to have to move around on our own.
At the beach, we encountered a downpour and enjoyed shrimp and chicken in the rain, which was delicious. Within the limited time, we were able to efficiently achieve our goals, and I felt that participating in this tour was worthwhile. I thoroughly enjoyed Haleiwa.
I have one request for Veltra: while it states that the tour fee includes a tip, it would be helpful if you could specify how much the tip amount is. Since the driver was very kind, I was unsure how much to give as a tip, and knowing the included tip amount would make it easier to decide how much to give on the spot. I'm not very familiar with tipping customs.
Last year, I went horseback riding in the canyon with my grandchild, and we did it twice during our stay this year as well. You might wonder why we went twice in two days, but that's how enjoyable it is. If you have the time, leisure, and budget, it's definitely worth trying. I've experienced other horseback riding activities, but so far, this is my favorite.
The owner, Mr. ○○, is friendly and provides thorough instructions on how to ride and control the horse. The course includes ups and downs and runs through wooded areas without a lead rope, and before you know it, the horseback riding time is over while enjoying views of Haleiwa Bay below.
If I can go to Hawaii again next year, I will likely go horseback riding again. I want to share more of my experiences, but seeing is believing, and everyone has different senses and ways to enjoy things, so I can't say much more. However, I definitely encourage you to try it!
I wanted to go horseback riding, so I looked for a plan that included transportation. Since I had been to Kualoa before, I decided to join this tour where we could visit various sightseeing spots and also go horseback riding.
Honestly, as an experienced rider, I found the horseback riding a bit lacking, and my husband, who has almost no experience, felt that he was just being carried by the horse and didn't find it enjoyable. (I don't expect a beginner to be able to control a horse.) However, the scenery was very beautiful.
One downside was that although it was supposed to include tips, there was a sign in the waiting room for horseback riding in Japanese stating that tips were not included in the tour. There were also two Americans participating separately who paid tips, and we ended up paying separately from the tour fee as well.
Additionally, for lunch, the guide ordered garlic shrimp for us to take out, but we had already paid in advance, so we couldn't use our coupon, and we didn't receive any change. The guide wasn't a bad person, but... it was disappointing.
Thank you very much for participating in the tour.
However, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience regarding the tip and lunch.
I have shared your experience with the tour provider. The tips for the activities you participated in are included in the fee, but since the horseback riding venue is operated by a different company, tips are optional. I apologize for the lack of information provided to you.
Regarding lunch, if you have a coupon, please let the driver know when they explain lunch, and we will accommodate you. I also sincerely apologize for the issue with the change. I would like to process a refund, so I would appreciate it if you could let me know.
Based on your valuable feedback, we will strive to improve our services in the future. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us.

This activity was very helpful for my first trip to North Shore (^O^). The guide during the transportation was also enjoyable, and when we found the sea turtles at the end, it became a fun memory thanks to the guide's assistance (^∇^).
We booked a North Shore free plan for just the two of us. While waiting at the meeting point near the Hilton Hawaiian Village where we were staying, a high-energy guy showed up in the morning. He immediately started cracking jokes typical of Japanese uncles, and since we had just participated in a tour where no Japanese was spoken until the day before, we were relieved to find that we could communicate easily in Japanese.
After picking up guests from other hotels, we set off for the North Shore with a total of about ten people! Throughout the ride, he kept up a machine-gun style of talking (laughs). He shared various things, from the latest trends in Waikiki to the sad history of Hawaii. Apparently, he had been an announcer until recently, so talking was his job. That made sense (laughs).
When he asked if we wanted to take a picture of that famous tree, which costs $3, we took a vote in the car and unanimously decided to pass, saying we weren't interested enough to pay $3. It was very nice that he not only followed the usual route but also listened to our preferences.
Upon arriving at the Dole Plantation, we lined up a bit to buy the classic soft serve. The pineapple flavor was rich and delicious! He also informed us that while there are several shrimp trucks, the ones here are not good, so we ended up going to the famous Macky's. It was incredibly tasty! Sparrows and colorful birds were friendly, and everyone was feeding them rice grains, creating a warm atmosphere.
Since there were also groups for the maze plan and horseback riding, we split off from them. We were on the free plan, so we were dropped off in the town of North Shore where Japanese wasn't spoken (laughs). Feeling a bit anxious, we enjoyed shopping at retro surf shops and other places. The rural side of Hawaii is lovely, quite different from the urban Waikiki.
We had to give up on Matsumoto Shave Ice due to the long line and lack of time. When I asked a kind lady how to get to a recommended beach in my broken English, she advised me, "The nearby beach is next to the harbor, so it's dirty. The beautiful Sunset Beach is a tough distance to walk to."
I regretted not having driven there, but it couldn't be helped. We waited for our cheerful driver and headed to the next destination, a beach where we could see sea turtles. We encountered two sea turtles. Our driver had warned us to stay quiet and not to get too close to avoid stressing them out, so we quietly took pictures with zoom. However, a Chinese tourist stood right in front of a turtle's face, and despite the sand getting on the turtle due to the unstable sand on the beach, they were loudly taking pictures, which was quite upsetting.
It seems that Chinese tourists are the same everywhere, and I find them difficult to deal with. Hawaii is focused on protecting endangered animals like sea turtles, and apparently, there’s a fine for getting closer than two meters. If they feel stressed, they won’t come back to bask on the beach, so those going in the future should be careful not to get too close.
After a fulfilling North Shore tour, the machine-gun talk continued on the way back to Waikiki, and I fell into a deep sleep with that as my lullaby. At first, I thought the free plan was a bit pricey at over $50, but considering the distance we would have had to travel by bus or car, I’m glad we chose the tour. The driver’s stories were sometimes tough to listen to, especially when he was bragging about his daughter, but otherwise, I learned a lot of interesting things and about Hawaii's history. Most importantly, he was friendly and approachable, which was great.
If I ever go to Hawaii again, I would love to visit the North Shore once more. It was a wonderful, nostalgic town that really made me feel good.
Since I had only played in the ocean in Hawaii, I was interested in horseback riding this time and tried it for the first time. I participated in a one-hour horseback riding session with a group of about 15 people, mostly Japanese, riding in a line. We watched a safety video, chose our horses one by one, received a brief explanation of how to operate them, and then set off.
Along the way, the horses sometimes stopped to graze or for bathroom breaks. The view of Kualoa Beach and the mountains from the horse was amazing! Since it was a sport, my butt started to hurt towards the end, and I found one hour to be just right.
Since check-in was at 11:15, I had breakfast in Kailua after picking up a rental car in the morning and headed to Kualoa. The roads were easy to navigate, and it felt great to drive along the beach.
I arrived early, but there were dining options and souvenir shops, and I was able to see the horses up close and take photos, so it was good to arrive early. There was also a stray cat that was very cute.
I signed up for the canyon horseback riding plan, but as we got closer to the North Shore, the weather looked suspicious... Due to bad weather, the canyon horseback riding was canceled. However, thanks to the driver's response, I was able to participate in a beach horseback riding tour. (Since the canyon horseback riding was more expensive, I received a refund for the difference later.) The tour itself was conducted with a small group, and since the participants on the day could express their preferences (like wanting to eat shrimp and needing to return to Waikiki by 4:00 PM), it was great.
The Haleiwa tour was the one I was looking forward to the most this time. However, despite the hotel lobby pickup time being at 8:15, I had to wait until after 8:30, which made me quite anxious at the start. It was very unsettling to wait for those 15 minutes without any communication. After that, everything went smoothly. They shared a lot of information about flower names and stories related to Hawaii. We had a 15-minute stop at Moanalua Gardens, where it seems you now have to pay a $3 entrance fee.
After that, we went to the Dole Plantation. They took photos for us, and we shared one soft serve ice cream between the two of us. The 40-minute stop was just the right amount of time. Then we headed to Haleiwa Town, where they first gave us a thorough explanation of the area, which helped us understand where everything was located. However, I thought it could have been a bit more concise, as it seemed aimed at first-time visitors.
During the free time, I wanted to go to Macky's, which was a bit farther away, but it turned out that other customers wanted to go there too, so they kindly drove us, which was a great help. After that, at the beach where we could see sea turtles, we were able to spot three swimming turtles, which was very meaningful. Overall, it was a satisfying tour.
MY GRANDCHILDREN WENT HORSEBAACK RIDING AND LOVED IT
This was my second time in North Shore. My first visit was packed with activities, so this time I wanted to relax with shopping, eating, and enjoying the beach in Haleiwa, so I joined the free time plan.
It seems you can also get to Haleiwa by The Bus, but since it's a precious day, I chose to join the tour to prioritize time spent at the location over time spent on the bus.
First, we stopped by the Moanalua Gardens, known for its famous tree, and then we visited the Dole Plantation. Here, you have a choice.
1. For those who just want a quick visit and shopping, there's a 30-minute stay.
2. For those who want to enjoy the maze and ride the train, there's a 2-hour stay. They will inform you of the two meeting times, so you can return to the vehicle at your preferred time.
After that, we went to see the turtles (unfortunately, there were no turtles, but thanks to our guide's thoughtfulness, we were able to see them at another beach at the end of the tour!).
Upon arriving in Haleiwa, there are also two options:
1. A return to Turtle Bay after about 40 minutes of stay (for horseback riding or strolling), or
2. A longer stay of about 3.5 hours in Haleiwa.
I indulged in garlic shrimp and huli huli chicken, and after that, I bought an iced espresso at the Coffee Gallery and enjoyed banana pancakes at Waialua Bakery while heading to the beach.
The beach was not the bustling Waikiki or the big wave beaches typical of the North Shore; it was a place where locals relaxed, sunbathed, and canoed, creating a laid-back atmosphere.
This tour allowed us to choose between a short or long stay at each destination, which was very nice and relaxed. Above all, I felt I had a wonderful time thanks to our guide's kind and fun personality.
If I want to spend another laid-back time in North Shore, I would love to join again. (^。^)
Oh, one thing that was a bit disappointing was that the microphone in the vehicle wasn't very sensitive, making it hard to hear... maybe? (^^;
あっ、ひとつだけ残念だったのは・・・車内マイクの感度が良くなく聴き取りにくかったこと・・・かな?(^^;
It was a so-called experiential horseback riding where we only walked at a trot along the side roads and through the coastal woodland, rather than riding at the polo field. The photo was taken while walking through the woodland, and we did not walk at all along the coastline.
I usually take riding lessons, so I thought I would be able to ride at the polo field by participating in this, but that wasn't the case. It was just a so-called experience ride, where we walked at a leisurely pace along the side roads and by the sea. I thought we could walk along the beach, but the waves were rough, and we couldn't get close. When I asked the guide (who seemed to be the youngest in a family business), she said it’s always rough there. The photos posted by Alan 1 were just taken on the beach for the purpose of photography. After it was over, I mentioned that I couldn't do any cantering, and I was told there is an advanced course that has a reservation for tomorrow, but since I was returning home the next day, I had to regretfully decline. It's a shame that Alan 1 didn't have that course available.
Waikiki has a completely different atmosphere. Riding in the great outdoors was very refreshing. I was nervous before getting on the horse, but it seemed well-trained, and my anxiety disappeared shortly after I started riding. I enjoyed the beautiful nature while taking photos!
I wanted to see the filming locations for Jurassic Park and Lost, so I chose the 2-hour course this time, but I started to get a bit bored in the second half. One hour felt too short, while two hours felt a bit too long. In the latter part, I started to feel pain in my legs, probably because I was using muscles I don't usually use.
However, I was able to have an experience that I definitely can't have in Japan, and I'm satisfied!
In the morning, we gathered at Aloha Landing, but although we were supposed to meet at 8:05, some people arrived late at the same spot. Since we were scheduled to depart at 8:15, it wasn't a significant delay...
After picking up everyone from other locations, we set off for the North Shore. After driving for a while on the highway, we arrived at the park famous for the "This Tree, What Tree" Hitachi commercial. We could see it from outside, but it costs $3 to enter, and since the restrooms were inside the park, we reluctantly paid the $3. Our stay was short at just 15 minutes, and I didn't feel it was worth the $3. We took some photos while we were there, and the driver actively took pictures for us as well.
After 15 minutes, we departed for our next destination, the Dole Plantation. The guide was introducing famous spots along the way, but since we were on the highway, the engine noise made it impossible to hear the guide's voice. Even though I wanted to hear the explanations, I couldn't say anything because our seats were predetermined.
At the Dole Plantation, we had 30 minutes of free time. We enjoyed the famous pineapple soft serve and looked at souvenirs before heading to the meeting point. When it was time to gather, not everyone was present, and the guide didn't seem to be looking for them. Eventually, everyone assembled, and we set off for the next destination, the town of North Shore.
Upon arriving in the town of North Shore, the guide gave a brief introduction while driving, and then we were free to explore for 3.5 hours. The town had a charming old-fashioned atmosphere and was very beautiful, but after eating the famous garlic chicken, I was too full to try the other local specialty, Matsumoto Shave Ice. If you want to try Matsumoto Shave Ice, be prepared to either buy one and share, as they are quite large, or narrow down your choices beforehand.
Although I didn't have the shave ice, I looked at the goods being sold there. Others gathered with the guide at 12:30 to head to eat shrimp caught in North Shore, but we were too full, so we took a walk to the beach. Originally, I had brought my swimsuit because I read online that you could play in the North Shore sea, but the guide didn't mention anything about that, and when we got to the beach, we were told to be careful not to get our feet wet, so it didn't seem like we could go in, and I gave up on that idea.
We looked at the beach, rested in the shade, and unlike Waikiki, we saw locals enjoying canoeing. It was very relaxing and heartwarming. To avoid being late for the 1:30 meeting time, we returned to the meeting point a bit early and waited for the bus. Once everyone gathered, we set off to see the sea turtles.
On the bus, we were told several times that since they are natural creatures, they might not be there. According to another group that had gone ahead, they mentioned that there might not be any today. After a short drive, we parked on the side of the road, and we were dropped off to see if we could find them between the palm trees leading to the beach, but there were no sea turtles. Our stay here was 15 minutes. After about 15 minutes, we were told, "That's too bad," and we departed.
I had previously learned from the internet and information sources that there is a beach where sea turtles can be seen with high probability, but that beach was about 1 kilometer behind the beach we were taken to, and since it wasn't on the route, we were told that they usually are there, but we were just unlucky this time. I felt like we were treated casually, which made me feel even more uncomfortable.
We drove straight back to Waikiki, and perhaps because I was feeling disappointed and uncomfortable, I was very tired and went straight back to the hotel.
Thank you very much for participating in the tour.
However, we sincerely apologize that the activities you participated in did not meet your expectations.

Regarding the duration of your stay at Moanalua Garden, as stated on our tour page, the stay is limited to 15 minutes. We would appreciate it if you could check this in the future when you use our services.
Thank you for your valuable feedback regarding the meals. Our guide introduces various recommended gourmet options, allowing customers to adjust the portions themselves. While our guide provides information on how to spend free time, we apologize for not communicating this clearly to you.

Last year, I went horseback riding at Kualoa Ranch, but the course and scenery were monotonous, and it felt more like just "riding a horse." However, this valley horseback riding plan was full of ups and downs and varied landscapes, making it exciting and thrilling throughout. At Happy Trails, all the support comes from local natives, and they provide explanations and instructions in advance, as well as communicate in simple English, so I think anyone can enjoy it with peace of mind. Just keep in mind that time passes according to Hawaiian time, so that's something to be aware of. The Moanalua Gardens and Dole Plantation included in the tour are just for a brief visit. In particular, Moanalua Gardens requires a $3 entrance fee, so we didn't go in. We couldn't see any turtles due to the weather, but that's just how it goes.
During our lunch break while exploring Haleiwa, we had burgers at Kua Aina near the meeting point and the classic shave ice at Matsumoto Grocery Store, which left us with little time. I wanted to explore for about another hour, so I deducted one star for that. If you're a repeat visitor to Oahu, renting a car might be better, but for those of us with less experience, participating in this tour with the guide's explanations was very worthwhile.
I was able to see a turtle slowly returning to the sea at just the right moment, and the shrimp in Haleiwa was delicious. I enjoyed a relaxing and gentle time while riding along the coast, taking in the scenery. I was very satisfied.
It was a 2-hour course.
It was really wonderful and pleasant to enjoy the mountains, sea, and great nature, and I had a lot of fun.
The instructor was also amazing, very friendly and kind, and I definitely want to recommend it.
We participated as a family of three.
My husband had his first horseback riding experience, and my 8-year-old son rode alone for the first time.
Honestly, I thought my husband would have a nonchalant reaction like, "Well, it's for the kid's experience..."
We were even discussing going to the zoo the day before, but there were plenty of animals here (^u^).
None of the staff spoke Japanese.
They gave simple explanations and chatted, and just when we were getting ready, a wild horse appeared!!!
It was nerve-wracking to think, "Who will ride it?!" but of course, the staff member rode it (phew!).
Everyone took turns mounting the horse for photos! We got some really wonderful and cool pictures!
For a while after we set off, the photographer walked ahead to take pictures for us.
We climbed the red dirt mountains unique to Hawaii, enjoying the flowers, trees, and birds, and arrived at an amazing scenic spot!!!
In the refreshing breeze, we saw vast grasslands and the ocean.
It was the best!
On the way down, we pointed out the areas with good views, indicating quite a bit higher up the mountain.
I was worried about my 8-year-old, but since the horse was well-trained, there were no issues.
At one point, the horse seemed like it was going to run, and I panicked and stopped it, but my son actually wanted it to run...
My husband, who I was also worried about, said, "I underestimated horseback riding! It was amazing! I want to do it again!" sounding like a kid.
On the way back, we could stop by North and stroll around,
and we will definitely go to Gunstock Ranch again!
I absolutely recommend it!
I am very satisfied. The response was quick; although I received a notification that there was an issue, the follow-up was good. I was a bit flustered for a moment, but it turned out to be a very enjoyable tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, sharing information about the town's scenery, the timing of the flowers, and their names, which I found impressive. There was plenty of time, and the price was reasonable, so I highly recommend it. I participated in another tour as well, but due to a mix-up, I accidentally booked the same option twice. When I contacted them via email after the tour, they promptly processed a refund, which was touching. I would like to request this tour company again next year and beyond.
I got hooked on horseback riding at Kualoa Ranch and was looking for other places to ride when I found Gunstock Ranch. I took The Bus, but there was no name at the bus stop. It was a bit of a gamble. No Japanese is spoken at the ranch. However, everyone was very friendly and responded with smiles, which was really nice!! I had a wonderful time riding through areas that made me think, "Are we really going here?!" It was a forest-like setting, and I enjoyed leisurely riding while watching cows and other horses.
The Bus
The guide's talk was amazing! I've lived in Hawaii for a long time, so my Japanese is a bit shaky and there were many parts I didn't fully understand, but despite that, the talk was super fast-paced and packed with content! He kept using phrases like "~うんぬん," which I rarely hear anymore! I really enjoyed it (laughs). I learned about things and history that I would have completely overlooked if I had gone on my own, and it was truly fun. I want to participate again when I go back to Hawaii.
Someone mentioned in the comments that the quality of the tour depends on the weather and the guide, and I truly felt that was the case! Our guide, U, provided wonderful explanations and was very considerate. Although the vehicle was full, it turned out to be a fun and fulfilling day.
The canyon horseback riding at Happy Trails was my first experience, and I was nervous, but I would love to try it again. We had lunch at Mackey's, and unexpectedly had time for shopping in Haleiwa, making it a truly lovely tour. Thank you very much!
On the day of the event, which was a Sunday, traffic was expected to be heavy, but thanks to the local guide's coordination and flexible response, the experience was packed with delicious highlights. Additionally, at the request of the participants, we made an unexpected stop at a coffee farm on the way back, where I was able to get coffee that can't be found in Waikiki.
I was nervous about horseback riding for the first time, but there were no issues at all! I thoroughly enjoyed the extraordinary views from the horse's back and was very satisfied.
We spent a week in Oahu at the end of March and visited this ranch with our 6-year-old and 4-year-old daughters. Since we had made a reservation in advance, there were no particularly complicated procedures, and we hardly needed any English, haha. The friendly female staff made the children very happy. However, considering that it takes about two hours round trip from Waikiki, the 30-minute horse ride felt a bit short... The ranch had peacocks running around and was a spacious and lovely place!
I was torn between horseback riding at Kualoa Ranch, but it turned out to be the right choice.
The 90-minute ride was quite fulfilling.
There were a total of eight people: two Japanese couples and four from an Asian family.
With staff positioned at the front and back, there's no need to worry if the horses take a detour or lag behind, as they guide you along the way.
We rode in a line through the forest, and the forest bathing felt wonderful. At the end, we were moved to see the ocean. They also took plenty of photos with our cameras.
Overall, since we were with others participating in different activities, there was a bit of wasted time. We stopped at places that weren't necessary to visit.
A package that includes just horseback riding and free time in Haleiwa Town would be great.
