I wanted to go horseback riding in Hawaii, so I signed up for this 2-hour horseback riding course. Actually, I used to attend a riding club over 10 years ago, but I quit because I was scared of galloping. This time, since I was just walking slowly on horseback in the great outdoors, I felt completely at ease and thoroughly enjoyed riding again after a long time. It had been several years since I last rode a horse (I rode a few years ago in Hokkaido), so it took me a little time to regain my sense of balance at first, but after a while, I remembered the feeling and was able to enjoy the scenery. Just before we mounted the horses, there was a heavy downpour, and I was wondering what would happen, but fortunately, we didn't get rained on at all during the ride. It was also pleasantly cool, not too hot, and a bit cloudy, which made for perfect riding weather.
ハワイで乗馬したいと思い、こちらを申し込みました。2時間の乗馬コースです。実は、10年以上前まで乗馬クラブに通っていたのですが、駆け足がこわまなって辞めてしまった経験があります。今回は、馬に乗って大自然の中をゆっくり歩くだけなので、まったく怖くなく、久しぶりの乗馬を堪能できました。そもそも馬に乗るのが数年ぶり(北海道で何年か前にのっこたとがある)でしたので、最初はちょっと感覚を取り戻すのに時間がかかりましたが、途中から感覚を思い出し、それからは景色を堪能できました。乗る少し前に激しいスコールがあり、どうなるかと思いましたが、運よく乗馬中は、まったく雨に降られることなく、かといって暑すぎずに曇り気味だったので涼しくてちょうどよかったです。
初心者でも馬に乗って歩くだけなので大丈夫です。ただ、1分程度の短いビデオを見てすぐに馬に乗るので、少しは乗馬の経験があったほうが安心かもしれません。

After about an hour on the bus from the meeting point, we arrived at Kualoa Ranch. Upon arrival, we gathered on the deck in front of the building entrance. The reception areas and schedules for each course were explained in English. Shortly after, our names were called, and we received a voucher detailing the activity's reception time, start time, and the return bus schedule. The reception time was strict, and they wouldn't accept us early. While shoulder bags and items hanging around the neck were not allowed, smartphones were permitted. Only still photos could be taken; videos were not allowed. However, if a GoPro was secured to the body and not held in hand, it was fine. For small personal items and water bottles, we could borrow a small bag to hang on the saddle, so anything that fit in there could be brought along.
The course offered stunning views of the ocean after passing through the forest, but I was most looking forward to the Jurassic Park filming location, which had a vast grassy valley. Unfortunately, the path to it was under maintenance, and our time was shortened by 30 minutes, resulting in a 25% refund later. My first horseback riding experience was fun, but my backside became sore, and the pain lingered for three days. (laughs) Still, it's a shame I couldn't see the valley, so I would like to try again.
集合場所からバスに揺られて約1時間でクアロアランチに到着しました。到着後、建物入口前にあるデッキに一旦集合。各コースごとの受付場所やスケジュールなどが英語で説明されます。程なくして名前が呼ばれ、アクティビティの受付時間と開始時間、帰りのバスの時間などが記されたバウチャーが手渡されました。受付時間は正確で早めに申し出ても時間にならないと受付てくれませんでした。ショルダーバックや首からぶら下げる物はダメですが、スマホは持参OKです。撮影は静止画のみで動画はダメだそうです。しかしGoProは身体に固定出来て手で持たなければ大丈夫でした。身の回りの小物やペットボトルは鞍に掛ける小物入れバックが借りれるのでそれに入る物であれば持参出来ました。
コースは林間を抜けると海が見えて来て素晴らしい景色のコースでしたが、1番楽しみにしていたジュラシックパークのロケ地で草原が広がる谷には途中の道が整備中で行く事が出来ず、時間も30分短縮されたため後から25%の返金がありました。初めての乗馬は楽しかったけどお尻が痛くなり、痛みは3日間尾を引きました。（笑）
それでも谷が見れなかったのは残念なのでまたリベンジしたいと思います。

Upon arriving at Kualoa Ranch, we were guided on where to wait inside the bus. They also spoke in Japanese. On that day, there were Japanese staff members present at the facility, and they gathered only the Japanese guests to provide detailed explanations about the locations of the restrooms and lockers. The weather was clear and perfect for horseback riding on the day of the experience. I had tried horseback riding a few times in Japan, but this was my first long ride, and it was an incredibly enjoyable experience. It seems there has been a lot of rain recently, and due to some paths being washed out, the 2-hour plan was shortened to 1.5 hours, but it was still more than enough of an experience. I think being able to ride horses along the coast is something unique to Hawaii, so I decided to participate. All the explanations were in English, but during the drive, our driver, Kaz, kindly provided information in Japanese, which made me feel at ease and allowed me to enjoy the experience! Kualoa Ranch, famous for being a filming location for Jurassic Park, is truly breathtaking when you see the scenery right in front of you. The horseback riding lasts a solid two hours. You ride in a line of six, navigating some pretty tough paths, including narrow trails and cliffs. However, the horses are very smart and know the way, so there are no issues.
One instructor accompanies you and explains the locations in English. Occasionally, if a horse doesn't move or if a rider's posture is poor, they will give you a reminder. My legs were shaking after the two hours, but it was truly a valuable experience, and I'm glad I did it! Since it's a tour, you might have some free time afterward, but the burgers at the café are incredibly delicious, and since the ocean is right next to it, you can relax by the sea if you return within the time limit. It was the best experience. The two-hour horseback riding was fulfilling, taking us from the ocean side of Kualoa Ranch through the plateau where Jurassic World was filmed. We formed a group of six, with the guide leading us in a single file. This time, we were in a group with two couples from America and Australia. Throughout the two hours, the guide moved to the front, the middle, and the back, carefully following each person. It was my first time riding for such a long duration, and I was nervous at first, but the guide's support allowed me to ride with peace of mind. At some point, I felt a connection with the horse, and I couldn't help but find it adorable. Before the ride, the guide mounted a horse and explained how to ride. (Japanese participants are shown a Japanese video without needing to request it.)
Due to age restrictions, I went ahead to Kualoa Ranch with my older child for horseback riding, and in the afternoon, I met up with my husband and younger child to enjoy the buggies. I saw reviews mentioning waiting for the return bus, so I arranged for transportation only for myself and my older child for the ride there, and we returned with a taxi that we had booked for the whole family. This was my second visit to Kualoa Ranch. Since my last visit was before COVID-19, I noticed quite a few changes, but both the café and the shop were well-stocked and enjoyable. I only participated in the horseback riding tour, so my stay was short, but I had a great time. The tour was supposed to be two hours, but I was surprised to hear it would only be an hour and a half that day, with a refund offered. However, even with just an hour and a half, the horseback riding was more than enough. The scenery you can enjoy at Kualoa Ranch is unique, so I definitely want to go back.

I signed up to go horseback riding along the beach in Haleiwa. At first, I was worried I might fall off, but thanks to the very smart horse, I got used to it quickly. It was like a dream to be able to ride for a long time along the beach. It started to rain, and my pants and hair got quite wet, but I was able to borrow a raincoat, so my upper body stayed dry. I was disappointed that my time in Haleiwa was too short; I only had time to eat lunch and visit one shop. It would be perfect if I had more time to explore Haleiwa!

It was a truly wonderful experience! Honestly, it was expensive, but it created the best memories.
We signed up for a two-hour horseback riding experience with transportation for three people aged 70, 41, and 13. We gathered at 7:30 and boarded the bus, which was supposed to arrive 45 minutes before the activity, but we got there just a few minutes before 9:00. I was worried about not being able to participate, but we were told to wait on a bench, and the staff called our names and handed us a paper with the activity details. Then we moved to another location where they explained each area in English, and it felt like we were dismissed. I thought it was easy to understand since the reception areas were visible from where we were.
We went directly to the horseback riding reception, signed in, and the staff helped us choose our horses. Everything went smoothly, and we even had time to use the restroom. The restroom was a portable one, but it was spacious and relatively clean. There was a sign saying not to flush the toilet paper, but I realized that after I had flushed it.
The horses were truly intelligent, following the path perfectly at a good speed. We rode through the shade of trees and could see the ocean, arriving at a meadow where we could see those amazing mountains. The guide had a reaction that seemed quite rare, as my horse suddenly lowered its posture and lay down in that meadow. I jumped off when it lowered itself and moved away a bit, so I wasn't injured, but it rolled on its back as if scratching itself and quickly stood up. The guide repeatedly said sorry and checked if I was okay. I realized that even the smartest animals can behave unpredictably, so it's important to keep that in mind. However, my mother in her 70s, who I was most worried about, was able to enjoy the experience until the end and said she was really glad she did it without any physical issues!
After horseback riding, I gave the guide a tip of $100, which might seem small compared to the experience fee of over $90, but I thought it was appropriate to follow local customs.
We finished around 11:30 and looked at photos of the actors before heading to buy lunch. There was already a long line, and we waited nearly 30 minutes after ordering. Our bus was scheduled to leave at 1:00, so we only had a little time to eat and took the rest back to the hotel. We had been talking about having plenty of time, but in the end, it was a bit rushed.
A photographer in a buggy took pictures of each of us as soon as we started riding. Each photo was $20. The buggy could accommodate four people, and the price was the same. Payment by card was available. By the way, I was able to ride with a North Face body bag attached to my waist. Even those without bags could borrow pockets on the saddle for drinks or smartphones.
In our group of six, consisting of my daughter, mother, myself, and three others, we lined up in that order, so I ended up with many photos of the backs of the two in front of me. Although I managed to take some photos while turning back as we got used to it, I only have about three mediocre photos of myself. I regret not trying harder to ask the guide to take at least one family photo, even if it was a long shot. By the way, we didn’t go to any locations with signs that clearly indicated they were filming sites for movies. I think the people on the bus went to those places.

09:30〜の乗馬２時間体験送迎付に70歳、41歳、13歳の3人で申し込みました。07:30の集合でバスに乗り込み、アクティビティの45分前までに着くようにと記載ありますが、着いたのが09:00数分前。
もしこれで参加できなかったらどうしようと不安でしたが、ベンチで待つよう言われ、受付の方が名前を呼びアクティビティ記載の紙を渡す→場所移動→英語で各場所の説明？をされ、解散みたいな感じでした。各受付はその場から見える範囲にあるのでわかりやすいと思いました。
私達はそのまま乗馬の受付にいき、サインしてスタッフが馬を選んでくれたりの流れでした。バタバタする事もなく、トイレにもいけました。トイレは簡易トイレですが、広く割と綺麗でした。トイレットペーパーは流さないでと張り紙がありましたが、流した後に気づきました。
馬は本当に賢くて、速度も道順もバッチリです。木陰を進み海が見えてきて、あの凄い山々が見える草原？広場？に到着です。
こんなことは滅多にないような反応をガイドさんがしてましたが、私の馬がその広場で急に姿勢を低くし、寝っ転がりました。私は低くなった時に飛び降り少し離れたので怪我等なかったですが、寝転がり背中をカイカイみたいにモゾモゾしてすぐ立ち上がりました。
ガイドさんに何度もsorryと言われ、怪我はないか？の確認もされました。どんなに賢くても生き物なのでこういった事も起こり得るという事は忘れずにいた方がいいと実感しました。
でも1番心配していた70代の母も最後まで体験でき、体の不調もなく本当にしてよかった！と言っています。
乗馬後、9万超えの体験料のチップとしては少ないかもですが、100ドルをガイドさんにお渡ししました。
それでも私にとっては高いですが、郷に入れば郷に従えでお渡ししました。
終わったのが11:30頃で俳優さんの写真等を見てから昼食を買いに行きました。既に長蛇の列で、注文してからも30分近く待ちました。13:00発のバスで15分前集合でしたので、ほんの少しだけ食べ後は持ち帰り、ホテルで食べました。割と時間あるねーなんて話していたのに結果最後はバタバタでした。
バギーに乗ったカメラマンさんが、乗馬始まってすぐ1人ずつ写真を撮ってくださいました。
これは１枚20ドルでした。バギーは一台で4人家族とかで写っていて同じ値段でした。カード払いできます。
ちなみに写真にうっていますが、ノースフェイスのボディバックを腰につけては乗馬可能でした。カバンがない人でも飲み物とかスマホ等は鞍？につけるポケットを貸してもらえるので大丈夫です。
娘、母、私と他３名の6人グループで、この順番に一列になって進んで行ったので、2人の後ろ姿ばかりの写真が多く、途中慣れてきて後を振り返っての写真も撮れましたが、私の写真は微妙な写真が３枚程度です。ガイドさんにダメ元でも家族の写真を１枚でも撮ってもらう様に頑張って話しかけたらよかったと、そこだけ後悔しています。
ちなみに、乗馬では映画のロケ地だとパッとわかるような看板等には行きません。バスに乗ってる方々がそーゆーところに行かれてたのかと思います。
日本とは違う壮大な景色を見ながら長年の夢だった乗馬体験をできた事は最高の思い出です。

I thought that a two-hour horseback riding experience wouldn't cover much distance or time, but to my surprise, it was a perfectly ample amount of both! It was an activity where I could enjoy the most breathtaking views while glancing at other tour groups. (I also experienced zip-lining on the same day.) I don't think there are many horseback riding experiences in Japan that allow for such a generous amount of time. I highly recommend giving it a try!

We participated with our children aged 9, 11, and 13 at their request. Even my 9-year-old daughter, who is 120 cm tall, was able to ride alone. We received instructions on how to handle the reins and how to ride. Our guide, Kaz, accompanied us to the riding location and helped with everything from check-in to translation, which was a great help. He taught us how to ride during the transfer, and even though it was everyone's first time riding, we had a lot of fun. I can't speak any English, but having Kaz made me feel very secure. The staff at the riding location were not very impressive; they seemed to be new and a bit inexperienced. It felt like the tip was paid not for the staff, but for the smart horses. Since the tour was focused on horseback riding, we didn't plan for any exploration and just enjoyed a relaxed time.

I previously went horseback riding for an hour at Kualoa Ranch, but I enjoyed it so much that this time I signed up for the two-hour course. My butt and the tops of my legs did get sore, but I definitely recommend the two-hour course! You can ride to places you can't reach in the one-hour course, such as areas with cows, spots with beautiful ocean views, and locations that were used for movie filming.

My wife was worried about the two-hour horseback riding, but she said it was great afterward. It was my first time riding as well, and the staff's support was excellent, making it enjoyable. During the ride, the horse pooped and peed quite dramatically, and we walked among free-range cows, which was an experience you can't have in Japan.

After arriving from Waikiki, I received explanations about luggage and lockers from the Japanese staff and headed to the reception for each activity. The two-hour horseback riding was very fulfilling, as I could see the ocean and passed very close to a herd of cattle. The gentle ups and downs were quite surprising from atop the horse.

I enjoyed a 2-hour horseback riding tour with a group of about five Japanese people and a female staff member. The staff was very cheerful and provided advice in simple Japanese. Unfortunately, it rained the entire time, so we couldn't see the magnificent scenery very well. I definitely want to experience it again when I visit Oahu.

The driver was very kind and shared various stories about Hawaii to keep us entertained during the ride.
The horseback riding staff only spoke English, but the driver, who had experience with horses, provided a thorough explanation beforehand, so I was able to enjoy it without any worries.
It was a pleasant time swaying on a smart polo horse while looking at the magnificent ocean of the North Shore.

It was a wonderful experience to see such magnificent scenery, which you can't find in Japan, from horseback! Since I don't usually exercise, I was worried that two hours might be too long and that my legs would hurt and affect my plans afterward. However, thanks to the stunning views, the well-behaved horses, and the kind instructor, the two hours flew by. I also appreciated that on the day we participated, the pick-up plan included a Japanese staff member who summarized the check-in and explanation for us!
