I ordered group lesson staring at 10:00am with picking me up at 9:30am.
But I was picked up around 10:20am. I was waiting for almost 1hour. I don't why but I had a private lesson. Maybe he was late. It was good for me. And instructor was amazing buy. He was friendly and kind. And SUP was fun.
If he wasn't late, I would feel great at him. But I couldn't do my plan after that. I wasted time about 1hour. It's important thing. I'm sorry only about that.

Neither of us had been paddle boarding before, but by the end of the lesson we were both standing. The safety briefing and instruction was tailored to us and our level of experience which was none. Both Mike and Michelle(hope that's right) were fantastic, just the right amount of cajoling to get us on our feet without any pressure. Talked about every topic known to man as we paddled about, had a great time and a great laugh too. I can highly recommend these guys and the company too as I later booked a surf lesson for the end of the week, which also rocked.

At 41 years old, I tried surfing for the first time! I was really anxious about whether I could do it. The instructor was a foreigner, and right after picking me up, they asked if I could speak English, which made me even more nervous... All the explanations on the beach were in English... I honestly wondered if I would be okay.

But thinking "you learn by doing," I took the board and headed to the ocean. I was told that there were good waves suitable for beginners, and somehow, after about three tries, I managed to stand on the board. The instructor only spoke very simple Japanese, like "Paddle!" and "Are you okay?" But they made an effort to communicate using the Japanese I knew and gestures. Also, perhaps due to the tide, when I got separated from the other tour participants, they quickly came to my aid, and at one point, thinking I might be tired, they asked, "Break?" Even though we couldn't communicate in Japanese, I felt their consideration in their responses.

I didn't request a female instructor, so there were two instructors, one male and one female. (There were five participants in total, including me.) It might be tough for those who have a strong aversion to English. However, the instructors were friendly and fun, and I was able to enjoy surfing itself, so I was very satisfied with the experience.

インストラクターの方は本当にかんたんな日本語しか喋れなかったです。「漕いで！」とか「大丈夫？」とか。でも知ってる日本語やジェスチャーを使ってなんとか伝えようと努力してくださいました。また潮の流れのせいか私が他のツアー客の方とはぐれたときなどはすぐ駆けつけてくださったり、途中私が疲れてると思ったのか「休憩（する）？」と声をかけてくださったり、日本語が通じないながらも気遣いが感じられる対応でした。
私は女性を希望しなかったので、インストラクターは男女の２名でした。（ツアー客は私を含め５人でした）
英語に拒絶反応を示す方には厳しいかもしれません。
でもインストラクターの方は気さくで楽しい人たちでしたし、サーフィンそのものも楽しむことができ、私としてはとても満足のいく内容でした。

It was really fun, but although it said there would be a Japanese instructor, there wasn't anyone who could speak at all. I was scared to go out to sea without understanding the explanations at all. I managed to do it by mimicking others, so that was good.

Chris was a good instructor and got me out into the water and riding the waves in hardly any time at all. He was also close by and attentive to my safety and form. It was great fun and I plan on doing it again the next time I'm in Hawaii....

My wife and I signed up for a semi-private lesson. On the day of the lesson, we were picked up on time and went to the beach in front of the Ward Center. The instructor was a local girl, and she didn't speak Japanese, but she did her best to teach us in a way that was easy to understand, using gestures and other methods. Learning while trying hard to communicate with the locals in Hawaii made the experience even more enjoyable. However, please note that they do take photos, but there is a fee for that.

We had heard really great things about Girls Who Surf so had picked them for our very first surf lesson. One downside is that apparently it is impossible to actually get a female instructor which makes you wonder about the name of the group. Our instructor was Warren and he did a good job of explaining what all to do and then took us into the water. I was horrible at it and opted to sit out and let my husband finish the course instead and he actually ended up doing rather well. They took photos for us and since we were such bad surfers and there were so few photos they gave us a discount on the photo package. Both Warren and the photographer were really nice. Only possible negative of the outing is that even though we had provided height/weight info ahead of time they did not bring a board big enough for my husband and had to go get another board which delayed the start of our lesson. Wasn't a big problem since the weather was nice and we basically just sat on the beach waiting.

We participated as a couple. It was my wife's first time surfing, but since it was a private lesson, she felt at ease. The conversation in English was slow, and they paid attention to our reactions, so it wasn't a problem for us, even though we couldn't speak much. With their excellent support, we were able to stand up from the very beginning, and we were very satisfied with the different views and sensations of the ocean.

First of all, I felt anxious that I didn't receive any emails other than the automated reply, so I called the local office, but there was no staff who could speak Japanese, so I couldn't confirm my reservation. This was my second time surfing in Hawaii. I was drawn in by the cute name and made a reservation. I signed up for a group lesson, but there was only one student, so it turned into a completely private session! Yay~~ (*^^)v

The instructor was a boy who spoke a little Japanese, but it was so much fun. Even though I was a poor student, thanks to the instructor, I was able to ride the waves!!!

A photographer rode on a board and took pictures, so they were very dynamic and full of life.

My friends had separate plans for the day, but next time they said they would join this school too.

I had a stand up paddle board lesson with Alison on 5/31. She brought along the correct sized board for me, something the rental places at Waikiki did not, and we had a great time. After a couple of minutes of getting used to the balance, I was off and running....err...paddling that is. It was a beautiful day, before and after the rain squall, and we saw numerous sea turtles swimming by us. Alison was fun, friendly, and easy to talk to and was an excellent instructor. I had the lesson my first day in Hawaii and it was so much fun, I did it every day I was there.

The second day I had a regular surfing lession with (Mollie, Matty? something like that, I forget now. But it was great fun also, I caught a few nice waves and she was really helpful....another great instructor. The learning curve for surfing is quite a bit higher than SUP, but I enjoyed it so much I'm taking another surfing lession this Sunday in cold water (wet suit) here in Washington state. Since my first pregnancy, I've been away from BB... My youngest is now four years old! He can play with Dad quite a bit, and since they can watch the kids, I finally got to try surfing, which I've wanted to do for a long time! ☆彡 The explanations about stance and everything were super easy to understand, and I had a really great experience! The teacher's personality was also fantastic!

By chance, I was the only student, so I was really lucky!

Honestly, the paddle training was tough, but the joy of finally being able to ride made it worth it, and I was able to push through!

When I return to Japan, I’ll work hard so that my husband and kids won’t make fun of me!!!

When you think of Hawaii, you think of surfing! So, I took my first challenge. Since the board is big, it's easy to balance and you'll be able to ride it quickly! The waiting time for waves can be long, so I recommend the intensive course because an hour and a half goes by in no time.

One thing to be careful about is that I accidentally forgot to put sunscreen on my legs, and I ended up with swelling and a bad experience, so don't forget it!

大きいボードなのでバランスが取りやすくすぐに乗れるようになりますよ！
