Due to strong winds, we started with stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) on the river, but since it was my first time, it actually worked out well... At the end, I tried it in the ocean, and as they said, it was completely different from the river. However, thanks to the feeling I gained from paddling on the river and especially to Mieko's careful and precise instruction, I was able to stand a little in the ocean despite the strong winds, which was amazing!!! I think I'm going to get hooked on this! SUP with Mieko in the beautiful ocean of Kailua is highly recommended. The pizza for lunch was delicious too, and I will definitely come back to do SUP again!!! The staff were all friendly and great people, which made it fun. Thank you very much.

強風の為、始め川でのSUPでしたが初SUPだったのでむしろ良かったです…最後に試しにと海でのトライ、言われてた通り川と海とでは別物でした。でも予め川で感覚を掴んだ事と、何よりみえこさんの丁寧かつ的確な指導のお陰で、強風の中、海でも少しだけ立つ事が出来て最高でした！！！癖になりそうです！カイルアの美しい海で、みえこさんとのSUP、本当にお勧めです。ランチのピザも美味しかったし、またSUPしに戻ってきます！！！スタッフの方もみんなフレンドリーで良い人達で楽しかったです。ありがとうございました。

Above all, the beauty of Kailua Beach is beyond words. It is incredibly clear and beautiful. My first kayaking experience was very exciting and fun. Our Japanese guide, Tomo, was bright and kind, sharing stories about the island's formation and culture, which made for an enjoyable time.

Seeing a sea turtle for the first time and snorkeling at Lanikai Beach during the afternoon free time, where I saw many fish, were both wonderful experiences.

I highly recommend this for anyone who loves nature experiences and being active.

Thanks to our guide Mieko, we had a very enjoyable experience. Before heading out to sea, she made sure we practiced thoroughly, and as a result, we were able to smoothly reach the open waters. We were told that the difficulty varies with the weather and waves, but it seemed we had the best conditions that day, allowing us to fully enjoy the beautiful sea and sky. I lacked the courage to stand up while landing on the island, so I spent a lot of time sitting, but my husband was determined to stand and did his best. He fell off about three times during the round trip. Still, he said it felt great to stand and paddle, and he experienced a sense of accomplishment. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch, and after the SUP, we were able to borrow bicycles to explore the stunning scenery around us. Afterward, we were both sound asleep on the bus, feeling pleasantly tired. When we come back to Hawaii, I definitely want to experience SUP with Mieko again! I am truly grateful for the wonderful memories we made on our last day in Hawaii. Thank you very much.

又ハワイに来た時にはミエコさんのSUP経験したいです！！ハワイ最終日とてもいい思い出が出来たこと本当に感謝しております。

We had one Japanese guide who accompanied us on the kayak, teaching us how to paddle and taking photos for us. It was almost our first time kayaking, so we were nervous, but we were able to enjoy it. We even saw sea turtles in the beautiful ocean.

It's difficult to enjoy a beach while carrying your belongings, but we were able to store our things in a locker and borrow mats, snorkeling gear, fins, and an underwater bag to ride our bikes to the beach, which allowed us to have a great time! The rental fees for these items were included if you signed up for the kayak tour. We had lunch at a pizza place, where we got a large pizza cut into quarters along with drinks.

At first, I thought the price was a bit high when I signed up, but it was worth it, and we had a wonderful time. Thank you!

One day i will do my normal thing using the bicycle to the secluded area i found my first year there and relax. Unfortunately this year was a bit overcast, which i blame on the volcanic disruptions from the big island. Second day i want to use a kayak to the Mokulua islands. Staff and service is great!

My husband and I participated together. The weather in Honolulu wasn't great, so I was wondering how it would turn out, but Kailua was on the other side of the mountain, and the weather was perfect!

For an additional fee, we rented bikes and went to Lanikai Beach beyond Kailua Beach. It was unbelievably beautiful. The staff member helped us reserve pancakes from Boots & Kimo's, and even though it was takeout, we were able to eat without waiting in line! Shopping at Whole Foods Market and Target was also a breeze on the bike.

I was really happy that we stopped by Leonard's to have malasadas on the way back! Thank you very much.

On the way to Kailua, I felt lucky to see many rainbows. The bus was cold, so I think it's better to have a jacket.

In Kailua, I rented a bicycle and went to the beach. The water was cold and a bit chilly for this season, but many people were swimming. The snorkeling wasn't great, possibly because the spot wasn't good and the waves were big, so I couldn't see much.

After enjoying the ocean, I ran out of time to head towards Kailua Town, but there seemed to be buildings in the middle of both the town and the beach, making it easy to access either. There aren't many helmets available, so if you really want to wear one, I recommend securing it early.

The food was delicious too. It was a large pizza, so we shared it between two people. There were many Japanese staff members who were friendly and easy to talk to. Next time, I want to try kayaking as well.

It was my first time in Hawaii and also my first time doing SUP. I was unsure if I could get on the board, and I was worried about whether I could reach the island due to the strong winds and high waves that day. However, instructors Mieko and Masa taught us carefully and provided constant support, which made the experience enjoyable. Mieko and Masa called each participant by their first names and paid close attention to everyone.

I was advised not to bring cameras or phones to the ocean, but both of them took many photos during the SUP and on the island, and they sent them to us right after we returned.

During free time, they offer free snorkeling gear and bicycles, so you can explore the beach and the town of Kailua. Everyone at the shop was very kind and friendly, and they shared recommendations for spots in Kailua.

Although it was windy and it rained at one point, the ocean was very beautiful and refreshing. I truly had a fun and fulfilling time. I definitely want to do SUP again.

The only thing I found concerning was that the lockers were small and couldn't fit larger bags. (We managed to squeeze in our slightly larger backpacks.)

風が強く、途中で雨も振りましたが、海がとても綺麗で気持ちが良かったです。
本当に楽しく充実した時間を過ごせました。SUPも是非またやりたいです。

You can rent bicycles at the shop. It seems you can reach Kailua Town in about 10 minutes. Toward the beach, it takes about 10 minutes to Kailua Beach, and from there, it took just under another 10 minutes to get to Lanikai Beach. They provided a video guide for the route, and the staff gave me a map and explained it. The shop also rents out snorkeling sets, so it would have been nice to plan to take one and play in the ocean, but I didn't plan that far ahead, so I just ended up looking at the beach.

Kailua Beach had bigger waves than I expected, so it wasn't suitable for snorkeling, but I enjoyed boogie boarding instead! Lunch is included, and you can choose between a pizza place or a plate lunch. The kids chose pizza, and it was huge! The plate lunch is a mini size, but I think it's just the right size.

I had a tough time taking surfing lessons elsewhere before, so I thought, why not try SUP? It seemed like they decided whether to go in the morning or afternoon based on the sea conditions on the day. On the day I participated, the morning was free, and we did SUP in the afternoon. In the morning, I rented a bike and went to Lanikai Beach to play in the water. After having lunch, we did SUP. I was a bit worried about keeping up with two young girls since we were two middle-aged men.

First, at the shop, they carefully explained how to hold the paddle, how to paddle, how to stand, how to turn, and other precautions. We carried the boards and headed to the sea! However, the sea and wind conditions changed constantly, and we struggled against the wind, making it hard to reach the uninhabited island. Since it was more beginner-friendly than Waikiki, I experienced my first SUP in Kailua. There were four participants (three of whom were first-timers) and one Japanese guide (this time it was a lively and pleasant person named Mieko).

First, we received explanations at the shop about the route to the sea, how to hold the paddle, and how to maintain balance on the board. This explanation is only given on land, so it's important to listen carefully, as you won't receive instructions once you're in the water.

Due to local regulations, the tour vehicle and guide cannot enter the Kailua park and swimming area with participants. Therefore, when doing SUP in the sea, even as a beginner, you must paddle out alone beyond the swimming area buoys. It was a bit daunting to jump straight into practice without any prior training. So, it's essential to approach it with a strong mindset that you can definitely do it.

That said, even as a beginner, sitting and paddling was very stable, so I didn't feel like I would tip over or struggle to move forward. Riding on the board in a calm river that connects to the sea, once we reached the swimming area, a staff member called a "shadow warrior" helped us by pushing our boards to get us out to sea.

We paddled in a line for about 700 meters to an island, which took approximately 45 minutes. After landing and taking a break, since the ground is made of lava, I think it's better to wear marine shoes rather than flip-flops to avoid injuries. You have to take off flip-flops on the board, but you can keep the shoes on.

For those concerned about sunburn, wearing a hat, sunglasses, rash guard, and leggings is the best combination, but it's advisable to use a strap for the hat and sunglasses to prevent them from flying away. The return trip took about 15 minutes to reach the shore.

練習すらしてないのに、いきなり実践です。
なので絶対できるという強い気持ちでのぞむことが大切です。
とはいえ初心者でも、座って漕いでいる分にはとても安定しているので、ひっくり返るとかグラグラして進めないというようなことはありませんでした。
海につながるおだやかな川でボードに乗り、遊泳区域に着くと影武者と呼ばれるスタッフさんが沖に出られるようボードを押したりしてフォローしてくれます。
700m程沖合いの島まで、一列になって漕いで行きます。島までは45分程度かかりました。
上陸して休憩しますが、溶岩ですので、ケガをしないためにもビーサンよりマリンシューズで行く方がいいと思います。
ビーサンはボードの上では脱がなければなりませんが、シューズははいたままできます。
日焼けが気になる方は帽子、サングラス、ラッシュガード、トレンカが最強ですが、帽子とサングラスは飛ばないようにひも付きのものやグラスコードをした方がいいです。
帰りは15分程度で岸に到着します。
一旦ショップまでボードを持って帰り、各自ランチでその後自由時間です。
SUPは天候や参加者の意向等で海、川どちらでやるか決まるようです。
シャワーは外で水ですが、更衣室は4ブースありしっかり着替えを持参してもロッカーに入れておけます。
初めてのSUP、体育会系ではありましたが、その分達成感がありましたし、楽しかったです！

日本語が話せないとしてもこれだけは案内すべきと思います。

でも、カヤックは楽しかったです。次回もやってみたいです。

Kayaking was a bit difficult, but it was a lot of fun! It was interesting to land on a flat island and receive explanations about various plants and birds. We consulted with our guide, Mieko, about wanting to visit Kailua Town, and she gave us advice that allowed us to add bike rentals and extend our trip to Lanikai Beach and Kailua Town. Lanikai Beach has beautiful sand and clear water, and it was also less crowded, allowing us to relax. I'm glad we chose this course instead of the half-day option.
