I had no experience with snorkeling, so I chose a guided tour. It was definitely worth it.

At first, since the other two participants couldn't swim, my husband and I swam around on our own until they got used to the water. During that time, we hardly saw any fish. However, when the guide said, "Please come this way," and we followed, we started to see more and more fish. Moreover, the guide pointed out things like sea turtles that we wouldn't have noticed on our own, so we didn't miss anything. When asked if we wanted to go deeper, I answered "yes," and the guide held the hands of the two non-swimmers while taking us to a place we could never have reached on our own. There, we were able to see a world we usually can't see, and I was very satisfied. I believe we would not have had such an experience without the guide. I'm glad we participated.

Additionally, we could pack our belongings into a large box, lock it up, and leave it on the beach, which made me feel secure.

However, I had some concerns about the guide. When we were picked up, I said "Hello!" but received no response, and there was no conversation in the car, which made me very anxious about whether he understood Japanese. After picking us up, he welcomed two foreign guests and spoke to them in English in the car, explaining about the town we passed through (probably the Kahala area), but there was no explanation in Japanese. The car was quite old, and I thought maybe I had made a mistake by paying a high price for this.

On the way, we stopped at an office-like place to pick up fins and other gear. Since there was no explanation about what we were doing there, I felt a bit uneasy about why we were being dropped off. However, it was there that the guide finally asked in Japanese, "What is your foot size?" and I realized he could speak Japanese.

After arriving at Hanauma Bay, he said, "First, I will explain in English, and then in Japanese," and we finally received a proper explanation in Japanese about how to snorkel, which made me feel relieved.

そこでは普段見ることのできない世界を見ることができてとても満足でした。
ガイドさんなしツアーだったら、こんな経験は絶対にできなかったと思います。
参加して良かったです。

また、持って行った荷物も大きなボックスにみんなで詰め、鍵とチェーンをかけて砂浜に置いておいてもらえるので、安心でした。

ただ、ガイドさん自身についてはちょっと不審点がありました。
お迎え時にこちらから「こんにちは！」と言ったら何の返事もなく、車に乗っても特に話はしないので日本語がわかるのかとても不安になりました。
私たち夫婦の迎えの後、２人の外人のお迎えをしました。その外人の方たちとは車内で英語で話していて、途中通った街（おそらくカハラ地区）についても説明していましたが、日本語では特に説明はありませんでした。
車も結構古く、高いお金を出して申し込んでちょっと失敗だったかな、と思いました。

行く途中、フィンなど荷物を取るため、事務所のようなところに立ち寄りました。
それも特に何をするのか説明してくれなかったので、何でここで降ろされるんだろう？とちょっと不安でした。
しかし、そこでようやく日本語で
「足のサイズは何ｃｍ？」
と聞かれて、日本語ができることを認識しました。

ハナウマ湾に到着してからは、
「まず英語で説明してから、日本語で説明します。」
ということで、シュノーケルの方法などちゃんと日本語での説明があり、やっと安心

In the morning plan, there were four of us: my partner and I, along with another couple.

The weather in the morning was a bit cloudy with some light rain, but by the time we arrived at Hanauma Bay, it was nice and sunny.

However, there was a strong wind which made me a bit anxious, but the sea wasn't too cold and the sun wasn't too strong, so I think it's better for those concerned about sunburn to go in the morning.

The instructor spoke Japanese without any issues. My husband was snorkeling for the first time, and I was also a bit anxious since it had been a while, but we were able to relax because they guided us by holding our hands to the snorkeling points.

We encountered three turtles!!! It was my first time seeing a swimming turtle right in front of me, and I was really moved. We also saw many beautiful fish.

Since the time was short, I wish there had been a little more free time.

I didn't bring my camera because I was worried it might get lost, but there are lockable boxes, so your valuables are safe.

I regret not bringing it a little.

私達カップルともう一カップルの４人でした。

朝のお天気は少し曇りで雨も少し降ってましたが
ハナウマ湾に着いたら良いお天気に。。。

しかし風が強く不安も有りましたが
海もそれ程冷たくなく日差しも強くなかったので
日焼けを気になさる方は午前中が良いと思います。

インストラクターの方も日本語も問題無く
私の主人は初のシュノーケル、私も久し振りで不安も有りましたが
手を繋いでポイントまで導いてくれたので安心して出来ました。

亀にも３匹出会いましたよ！！！
泳いでる亀を目の前で見たのは初だったので感動致しました。
綺麗なお魚にも沢山出会えました。


やはり時間が短いので欲を言えば自由時間がもぉ少し有ると良いかなぁ~と思いました。

カメラも無くなったらと思い持って行きませんでしたが
鍵のかかるＢＯＸが有るので貴重品も大丈夫ですよ~

持って行かなかったのがちょっと悔しいです。

I participated with my younger sister. There were four of us in total, including an American parent and child.

The guide was a foreigner, but he could understand Japanese perfectly and was fluent in conversation. It was my first time snorkeling, but he taught us very carefully from the basics, which made me feel at ease.

When we went out to the sea, he held my hand, so I could snorkel without worry. Once we entered the water, schools of fish came right up to us, which was incredibly moving. There were rainbow-colored fish, and they were really beautiful.

It was my first overseas trip and my first time snorkeling, but I was very satisfied! If I have the chance to go to Hawaii again, I would love to participate again. I highly recommend it!

This time, thanks to Allen (the guide), I fell in love with snorkeling. I was really scared before entering the water, but he patiently taught me how to put on and use the equipment, as well as the signals to use underwater. Even when I got in, he held my hand the whole time and pulled me along, allowing me to observe everything in the ocean closely. I initially hoped for a morning plan, but it was fully booked, so I joined the afternoon plan.

The group consisted of my husband and me, along with eight foreigners. The website mentioned that Japanese was available, but I was a bit worried if that would really be the case. Right on time, an instructor named Alan came to pick us up at the hotel, and I felt relieved as he spoke Japanese well.

After picking up all the members from their respective hotels, we headed to Hanauma Bay.

Upon arrival, we paid the entrance fee of $7.50 and watched a safety video before entering. The video was in English, but there were earphones with Japanese translation available, so it was fine as long as you borrowed them before the video started.

Since the entrance was a bit far from the bay, after the video, we took a bus to the bay. Once we arrived at the sandy beach, we placed our valuables in a large lockbox, and were lent mats, snorkels, and fins, while being taught how to use them in the water. Fortunately, there was a Japanese instructor on site who provided one-on-one guidance.

After receiving instructions, we finally headed to Hanauma Bay! We entered the water, practiced a bit, and then started snorkeling from the left side. As we dove into the sea, we were amazed by the colorful fish. Just after starting, we encountered our first sea turtle! The turtle seemed accustomed to people and came close without fleeing. Following Alan, we swam quite far out and encountered a total of three sea turtles and many fish. The underwater scenery felt just like an aquarium.

We swam for about an hour, and when we finished, I realized we had swum from the left side to the right side (about 500 meters). Normally, I would feel tired after such swimming, but since I was enjoying myself, I didn't feel fatigued at all, and it went by in no time.

Afterward, the Japanese instructor mentioned, "Many people come to swim at Hanauma Bay, but you won't see sea turtles in the area where we swam. The instructors know where to find them." 到着したらハナウマ湾入場料7.5$を支払い、入場前の注意ビデオを見ます。ビデオは英語ですが、日本語訳のイヤホンがあるのでビデオが始まる前に借りておけば大丈夫です。

入場したところから湾までは少し離れているため、ビデオ終了後はバスに乗り湾まで送ってもらえます。
砂浜に到着すると貴重品をかなり大きい鍵付のＢＯＸに入れ、ゴザとシュノーケルとフィンを貸してもらい海の中での使用方法などを教えてもらいます。
私たちは幸運なことに？日本人インストラクターが現地にいましたので、その方がマンツーマンで丁寧に教えてくれました。

一通り指導を受け、いざハナウマ湾へ！
海に入り軽く練習をしてから左サイドからシュノーケリングを開始しました。
海に潜ると色鮮やかな魚がいっぱいいました。それに感動をしていましたが、始まってすぐに１匹目のウミガメに遭遇！！カメも慣れているのか、逃げずに体の近くまで寄ってきました。
そのままアランさんについてかなりかなり沖まで行き、合計３匹のウミガメとたくさんの魚達に出会えました。
海の中はまるで水族館のようです。

だいたい１時間ぐらい泳ぎ、終了の時気づいたのですが、海の左サイドから右サイド（約500ｍ）にいました。
普段の泳ぎであれば疲れてしまうと思うのですが、楽しみながら泳ぐことができたので疲れもなくあっという間でした。


終了後、日本人インストラクターの方が『たくさんの方がハナウマ湾に泳ぎにきているけど、現在泳いでいる場所ではウミガメは見えないです。インストラクターは居る場所を知っているんですよ。』と言っていました。
なので本当にこのツアーを申し込んで良かったと思いました。
ハワイに行って何をしようか悩んでいるならこのオプショナルツアーはかなりお勧めだと思います！
ちなみに現地ではウミガメは幸せの象徴らしいのでカップル、新婚さんに特にお勧めだ

My family (parents & 2 adult kids) went on a tour, in which we were the only party booked for that afternoon. Our guide, Allyn picked us up curb side from our hotel and was super nice. It was my family's first experience snorkeling and truthfully my mom and I were terrified. Allyn did a fantastic job at easing our fears and explaining everything. While we were in the water, he held my mom's hand the entire time which my mom appreciated so much. My parents got tired and we all went back to get re-hydrated. Allyn took my brother and I back out, along a different route. We saw a couple sea turtles. When we were over the reef, Allyn pulled me in a different direction to point right in front of us... There was this huge sea turtle, I could've reached out and touched it! I only wish the batteries in my camera and the dive could've lasted longer! AMAZING! We would definitely recommend it to other first timers! Thanks Allyn!

I recently participated in this tour. I had joined snorkeling tours several times before, so I was quite torn between choosing a budget tour with just transportation or signing up for this one, but I made the right choice by participating! My family of three had a great time. We were guided to a sea turtle spot and were able to see them perfectly. Of course, we also saw plenty of fish!

There were divers below us, so it seems they took us quite far out. We chose the morning course, but by the time we returned, there was a long line at the entrance of Hanauma Bay (the line extended outside the parking lot). It seems that with this tour, you can enter without waiting in line, so I especially recommend it for those planning to join in the afternoon.

先日、こちらのツアーに参加してきました。シュノーケリングツアーには今までにも何度か参加した事があったので、送迎だけのお値打ちツアーにするか、こちらのツアーで申し込むかかなり悩みましたが、今回参加させていただいて大正解！親子３人とても楽しむ事ができました。海がめスポットも案内していただけ、バッチリ見る事もできました。もちろんたくさんの魚も！
私たちの下でダイビングをされている方達もいらっしゃったので、かなり沖の方まで連れて行って頂けたようです。

First Snorkel Experience

This was our first snorkeling experience. We didn't go underneath the water, just stayed swimming on top, which was fine with me. The fish were beautiful. The coral reefs are amazing and really a beautiful sight to see. We didn't get to see any sea turtles, but the schools of fish were so great. Our guide held my hand the entire time, and he was really cautious and concerned about the safety to the group. He made my husband and I feel really comfortable our first time snorkeling. Definitely the best and most beautiful place to snorkel in Hawaii.

It was so much fun! I was able to see a lot of fish. I also saw a mongoose (apparently they live in the rocky mountains behind us).

Since it was my first time snorkeling, I chose this tour with a guide.

I was very anxious because it was my first time, but our guide, Alan, kindly taught me how to use the equipment and how to breathe, so I was able to dive into the sea with peace of mind. While swimming, Alan was always there to lead us, so I didn't get separated. He even took us to some deeper areas. However, I didn't see any sea turtles.

There were so many fish, so close that I could almost reach them. There were beautiful tropical fish as well as some big fish about 50 cm long.

I participated in the morning tour, but it was a bit windy and cold... That was my only complaint. The weather can't be helped, though. I wish the seawater had been warmer; it was quite chilly.

For those who are snorkeling for the first time, it might be better to go with a guide.

シュノーケリングをするのは初めてだったので、ガイドさん付きのこちらのツアーを選びました。

　初めてだったのでとても不安でしたが、ガイドのアランさんが丁寧に器具の使い方や、息の仕方などを教えてくれたので、安心して海に潜れました。泳いでいるときはずっとアランさんが引っ張ってくれるのではぐれることはないです。少し深いところにも連れていってくれました。でも海亀は見れませんでした。

お魚たくさんいました。手が届きそうなくらい近くに。綺麗な熱帯魚もいれば、５０ｃｍくらいのでかい魚も。

朝のツアーに参加しましたがちょっと風が強くて寒かった。。。それだけが不満。天候はしょうがないけど。
もっと海水も温かければよかったな。ガチガチでした。



シュノーケリング初体験の方はガイド付きのほうがいいかも。

I really wanted my mother to experience snorkeling, but she can't swim, so I found a tour with a guide.

Fortunately, the tour was just the two of us, and Alan stayed with my mother the whole time. First Time Snorkeling

AMAZING!!!! I have never snorkeled before and this was completely amazing. Our guide showed us great tips on using the mask and how to breathe. I was a little scared but once I got in I did so great as did my family. The only bummer I shall say is there was another couple with us and when we went past the reef to explore where there were not others he panicked which made the whole group go back in. I wish there were two guides, one to take the rest and one to take the others back. I was disappointed we didn't go out but it was still an amazing experience that I will never forget. I gave 5 stars because even though I didn't get to experience the snorkeling further out it was still amazing to see the fish and reef.

The next day, I went fun diving at a different spot, but I found the Hanauma Bay snorkeling to be more interesting. The price is higher than other companies' snorkeling tours, but I think it's worth it.

We had initially scheduled to do the early dive but conditions were bad that morning so we went later. We are glad we did! We saw 6 sea turtles! The guides were very attentive and informative. They kept us in a small group and pointed things out so everyone would get to see them. They even provide a snack and water at the end. This was a great experience and we got some good photos!

Took our son for a graduation gift along with his girlfriend and none of us had never snorkled before so thought the guided tour would be the best option. Allyn (sorry if it's spelled wrong) was our guide and he was awesome. He was very patient and taught us exactly what we needed to do. He was great for helping you not getting overwhelmed since as we found out, snorkeling takes a bit of time to learn. However, once you relax you can enjoy the experience. Not so sure we could have done it on our own. The only suggestion I can make is that the bottled water needs to be cold. It was very warm. Other then that, it was an awesome experience. Well worth the money spent. It's amazing the marine life you can see. We did see a sea turtle and a small eel. Absolutely beautiful. Hope to get a chance to do it again. Don't have my pics back since we used underwater cameras, hopefully I can add them later!

I arranged to meet behind the hotel, but the other person was late, which left me quite confused. I had been waiting there 10 minutes before the meeting time, but in the end, I waited for 30 minutes due to a 20-minute delay.

I participated with my son. Having a guide who knows the area inside and out allows you to enjoy Hanauma Bay at a higher level with peace of mind. The tour is a bit pricier than others, but it was worth every penny. In November 2009, I participated with my mother, who is in her 60s. Both my mother and I have scuba diving licenses, but since we were going, we wanted to request a guide who knows Hanauma Bay inside and out.

Our guide, Alan, speaks Japanese fluently. My mother seemed a bit anxious since it had been a while since she was last in the ocean, but since we were the only two participants, the guide kindly held my mother's hand and guided us through the water. My mother's face was very happy when we came out of the water.

He knew exactly where the corals and fish were, making for a rich tour experience. I've been to Hanauma Bay several times, but there were many points I could never find on my own.

The guide brought a large cooler-like container where we could store our valuables and the T-shirts we wore. The safety management was excellent.

It was my first time snorkeling. Alan was our guide and he was very patient and friendly! I was a bit afraid of the deep waters and currents, but Alan held my hand the whole time I was in the water and pulled me along. He also gave tips for snorkeling which was very helpful.

Recommend going to an earlier tour at Hanauma Bay if you want to see sea turtles because tides will be higher and they can get closer to the reefs.

Had a great time snorkeling. Mask kept leaking sea water though. Guide was good - very quiet, but let my friends and me take it all in. The safety instructions were quick but succinct.

We were fortunate enough to see several sea turtles, our guide offered when he got his photos to email them to us.

I've been snorkeling in the Bahama's without a guide for the same price. Overall, great experience for a great price.

Unlike Japan, feeding fish in Hawaii incurs a $100 fine! However, there's no need to lure fish with food; I was able to see plenty of them in their natural state! I even saw a large school of jackfish, which was a bit spine-tingling... But with our guide Allen, I felt at ease.

I encountered sea turtles twice; they are so cute when they come up to the surface to breathe, making little "puu" sounds. It's great to see a variety of fish, but watching the sea turtles for a long time is also fascinating.

Allen is a very friendly foreigner who seems to understand almost all of Japanese. Yumi-chan, who experienced this with me, is a beginner at snorkeling, and it seemed she had some trouble with how to hold the mouthpiece, so he guided her several times along the way.

This tour also includes fins, allowing us to swim lightly near the outer bay, and I would definitely love to go again if I have the chance! (*^▽^*)

I'm glad I chose the expert guide. The guide was truly an expert.
There were two other groups besides ours, but everyone except us was white. I was really nervous, thinking, "Wait, this isn't a tour for Japanese people!?" but the guide spoke fluent Japanese. They provided great support, and there were no issues at all.
Since it was January, the sea was cold, but the guide took us out to the ocean, and it was like a dragon palace or an aquarium! There were so many fish! It was an unbelievable sight.
Without the guide, I would never have seen such a view, and if I have the chance to go again, I will definitely choose the expert guide plan again.
Maybe it was the right season, but there were also a lot of turtles.
There are cheaper plans available, but I think choosing this plan was definitely the right decision based on the satisfaction I felt.
I created unforgettable memories that I will cherish for a lifetime.
