Since it was my first time snorkeling, I opted for a guided tour. I participated in the morning session on September 12th. It wasn't as cold as I expected, probably because I wore a long-sleeved rash guard.

With four couples and two guides (one at the front and one at the back), I felt safe while swimming. The guides were Alan, who spoke Japanese, and a Japanese man in his twenties. They pointed out various sights, saying things like, "That's a ○○ blenny," and "Look, a sea lion is popping its head up! How rare! Lucky!!" I think the presence of the guides made the experience enjoyable.

When we arrived, there was a line at the ticket booth, but the guide had prepared everything in advance, so we were able to join the tour with hardly any wait. (For those with time constraints, it might be okay even if you're not a beginner...)

What to bring: an entrance fee of $7.5 per person (plus a tip), a bath towel, a camera (waterproof is better), and if possible, a small bottle of mineral water (for drinking during the trip or before swimming... snacks and water provided by the tour were given out after swimming), and I don't think anything else is necessary. After swimming, there was a simple outdoor shower to rinse off sand and seawater, and I changed at the hotel, so I didn't need a change of clothes.

We had a light meal in the morning before participating, so it was fine for us, but those who hadn't eaten seemed to get hungry during the tour, so it might be a good idea to bring some crackers just in case.

ｶｯﾌﾟﾙ4組に２人のｶﾞｲﾄﾞ(先頭と最後にｶﾞｲﾄﾞ)で安心して泳ぐことができました。ｶﾞｲﾄﾞは日本語ができるアランさんと20代の日本人の男性で「あれは○○ﾔｶﾞﾗだよ」と魚の名前や「ｱｻﾞﾗｼが顔を出してるよ！珍しい！ﾗｯｷｰ！！」と色んな見所を教えてくれました。ｶﾞｲﾄﾞがいるからこそ楽しむことができた内容だと思います。また到着した時に入場券売り場に列ができていましたがｶﾞｲﾄﾞの人が事前に用意してくれてほとんど待つことなく参加できました。(時間に制限がある人は初心者でなくてもよいかも…)
持参物は入場料$7.5/人(＋αﾁｯﾌﾟ～)、ﾊﾞｽﾀｵﾙ、ｶﾒﾗ(防水だとよりGood)とあれば小さいﾐﾈﾗﾙｳｫｰﾀｰ(行きの移動中や泳ぐ前飲みたい時に…ﾂｱｰに付いているｽﾅｯｸや水は泳いだ後に配られていたので)があればあとはいらないと思います。現地では泳いだ後は簡易ｼｬﾜｰで簡単に砂や海水を洗い流すだけでﾎﾃﾙに戻ってから着替えたので着替えはいりませんでした。
私たちは朝、簡単に食事を済ませて参加したので大丈夫でしたが、食べてない人は途中お腹がすいたみたいなので食べなかった人はｸﾗｯｶｰ程度持参しておくと安心かもしれません。

I've been to Oahu several times, but this was my first visit to Hanauma Bay, so I opted for a guided tour. The price was higher than other Hanauma Bay tours, but having a proper guide made me feel secure, and I was able to enjoy snorkeling without worry. I don't think we would have been able to go that far out on our own. My friends who joined me, as well as others on the tour (both women), said, "I didn't think it would be this hard..." but I didn't feel that way at all. It was so much fun. Thank you!

I felt a connection with our guide, Alan, as he picked us up. We adjusted our fins and headed to Hanauma. After watching an introductory video about Hanauma, we took the trolley down to the bay. The explanation on how to properly use the equipment was thorough, and I was able to enjoy snorkeling again after a year with ease. I was moved by the welcome from the tropical fish as I dove in. After it was over, we took a break with cookies and water, and then we were taken back to the hotel.

It had been 20 years since my last visit to Hanauma, but I was able to meet beautiful tropical fish just as before and had a wonderful time. Thanks to our guide Alan, I encountered fish right from the moment I dove in, which made the experience fulfilling. It was great that I only needed a towel and the entrance fee, so I could go hands-free without needing any equipment or snacks. However, the diving lasted only about 30 to 40 minutes. I wished I could have stayed underwater a bit longer. I highly recommend it even for those trying snorkeling for the first time.

We participated as a family. It was our first time going to Hanauma Bay, and for our children (ages 5 and 9), it was their first experience with snorkeling, so choosing a guided tour was definitely the right decision. Our guide, Allen, was just as great as the reviews said, and at Hanauma Bay, it felt like we had VIP access. He carefully taught us how to wear the masks and held the children's hands, allowing us to snorkel together. We practiced a little in our bathtub before going, but I don't think we could have managed to swim with them without the guide. The equipment, including the dry snorkels and masks, was of good quality, which was nice.

After practicing, we changed locations and swam twice, where we got to swim with a turtle and saw various types of fish, and the scenery was very beautiful. We went in late June; the weather was good, but it was a bit windy, which made the waves a little high, and the kids ended up getting cold and shivering at the end.

There aren't many afternoon tours for Hanauma, so I think it's a good option for those who have plans in the morning to make efficient use of their time. Next time, we want to go on our own and take our time to enjoy the day.

We participated with two parents and two friends. My mother seemed to think that places where her feet couldn't touch the ground were "scary!!", but when we arrived at Hanauma Bay, she was captivated by the beautiful scenery.

The two friends mentioned that they only swim occasionally in the pool for exercise and found the ocean where their feet couldn't touch to be frightening. However, the Japanese guide explained in detail how to wear masks and other things, and we first practiced in a place where we could stand.

Even in shallow areas, we could see beautiful fish, and as we got used to it, the fear seemed to lessen. The guide pointed out where the fish were, but since we weren't used to the mask's field of vision, we were a bit confused, asking, "Where are they?" Nevertheless, we were able to see many fish. They took us to places where we normally wouldn't be able to stand, and even though it was my first snorkeling experience, my desire to come back grew.

They told us, "We swam for 1.5 hours!" Perhaps because there were no breaks, I felt exhausted when we walked back up from the beach.

As we took a breather after getting out of the water, someone said, "It's tough on the legs~ Is it because of our age? It's probably due to lack of exercise~" We laughed and regained our energy with the water and snacks provided by Alan.

途中休憩がなかったからかもしれませんが浜から上がって歩くときに疲れがどっと来ました。

浜から上がって一息ついていると誰だったか
　「足にくるね~　やっぱお年頃（年齢が高い）から？　
　　普段の運動不足だから~」と談笑しアランさんから頂いたお水、スナックで元気を取戻しました。

We practiced in the shallow water at first, and then Alan held my hand and took us deeper into the ocean. It was our second time at Hanauma Bay, but before we knew it, we had gone out to a much deeper area that we couldn't reach at all during our first visit. It's a shame we didn't see any sea turtles, but we were satisfied with the beautiful corals and plenty of fish we saw!
After coming out of the water, they gave us water and snacks! However, I thought we would have some free time, but we didn't have any at all, so I couldn't take many photos.
After returning to the beach, I think it would be nice to dive again if we still have energy!
Overall, I was very satisfied!

We participated in a group of seven, including families with elementary school children and couples. Therefore, we split into two groups: the family and our group of four, to enjoy snorkeling. It seemed a bit challenging for the elementary school kids, as they had an instructor dedicated to helping them. Our group swam a little further out, around the edge where the water was about 5 meters deep. It truly felt like we were swimming inside an aquarium. Although we were wearing life jackets and didn’t dive, just floating on the surface was plenty of fun. In the end, we encountered a turtle in the shallow waters and were able to swim alongside it. That was quite an emotional experience. We got so close that I thought I might accidentally bump into its shell due to the waves. After crossing the bay for about 30 minutes, we finished up. It was quite exhausting. Since it’s a three-hour tour, either in the morning or afternoon, I think it’s a convenient way to make good use of your day. I took photos using a regular digital camera placed in a waterproof pack, DiCAPacα. It’s affordable and I recommend it. Just be careful, as the edges might get in the shot. Of course, if seawater gets in, it will break, so please take responsibility for that.

そのため、家族と、我々4人の二グループに分かれて、シュノーケリングを
楽しむことになりました。やはり小学生には、ちょっと大変だったようで、インストラクターつきっきりで、お世話をしていました。我々のグループは、
少し沖に出て、水深5Mぐらいの縁を泳ぎました。まさにそこは水族館の中を
泳いでいるかのようでした。救命胴衣を付けていたので潜りはしませんが
海面を浮いているだけでも、十分に楽しめました。最後は、浅瀬でカメに遭遇し、一緒に泳ぐことが出来ました。これはちょっと感動物です。
波に押されて、思わず甲羅にぶつかるかと思うぐらいに、接近遭遇してしまいました。30分ぐらい湾中を横断し、終了。けっこうへとへとになります。
午前か午後か、3時間ほどのツアーなので、お手軽で一日を有効利用出来るスケジュールだと思います。
撮った写真は、普通のデジカメを、防水のパックDiCAPacα に入れて撮りました。お手頃でお勧めです。ただ注意しないと、縁が写り込んでしまいます。
もちろん、海水が入ったら壊れますので、自己責任でお願いします。

I participated the morning after arriving in Hawaii. The guide was fluent in Japanese and shared various recommended spots during the drive to Hanauma Bay. This was helpful for our stay.

There are plenty of fish even in the shallow waters, so I think even those who can't swim can enjoy it. My daughter (16 years old) was able to go quite deep with the help of our guide, Jim, during snorkeling.

After that, we went to the office to get our fins, and we headed to Hanauma Bay on the highway. There were only four of us participants. It was my first time in Hawaii and my first snorkeling experience. I was a bit anxious about what kind of instructor I would have, but Alan was very good at Japanese. He is quite tall and has experience living in Japan, so I had no worries about the language barrier. I participated on October 6th. There were 2 other people, making a total of 4.

The weather was wonderful, shining in beautiful colors. I had some experience, but I felt a bit anxious. I remembered the time I snorkeled in the Sea of Heaven and struggled in deeper water with the waves.

As expected, I had tightened my mask too much, and it seems I ended up swallowing seawater. However, they kindly took care of me and taught me that tightening the mask can actually make water enter more easily, and they helped me adjust it.

Thanks to that, I was able to enjoy the rest of the experience without any problems. To my surprise, I was able to see a sea turtle, which was munching on algae right below me. Additionally, according to the guide, we encountered a rare moray eel.

Time flew by, and I wished I could swim more. It was a tour that made me want to participate again.

お陰でその後は何の問題もなく楽しめた。そして予想外にウミガメを見ることができた。すぐ真下で岩の藻をかじっていた。
また、ガイドさんが言うには珍しいウツボにも遭遇できた。

あっという間に時間が過ぎもっと泳いでいたかった。また、参加したいと思わせるツアーだった。
