We participated as a family of four: my husband, our middle school son, our elementary school son, and myself. This was the afternoon tour on August 14. After researching various tours, we ultimately chose this one. Fortunately, we were the only participants, just our family of four. Our expert guide was Fumio (female). We set off to Hanauma Bay in Fumio's car. Perhaps because it was the afternoon tour or just by chance, there were no entry restrictions and no lines.

First, we attended an orientation session about Hanauma Bay in the hall. After it ended, we signed up, and it seems that if we register, we can skip the line next time (though there may be a deadline). After leaving the venue, we met up with Fumio and walked down the slope to the beach. Along the way, we took a commemorative photo at a scenic spot. The beach had snorkeling sets already prepared, and we learned how to put them on. There was a locked trunk for valuables, so we stored our things there, which was reassuring.

Then we headed into the sea. Instead of the usual saliva method for anti-fogging the masks, we were given a special anti-fog solution, which made our view clear. Fumio held our elementary school child's hand, allowing us to focus on our snorkeling without worry. The waves were quite high, and it would have been daunting to go alone, but we felt safe following her. We not only found plenty of fish but also encountered a sea turtle, which was incredibly exciting. I truly felt that choosing this tour was the right decision.

Once in the water, I was surprised at how cold it felt. As everyone said, it was definitely the right choice to take the afternoon tour instead of the morning one. After getting out of the water, we changed and enjoyed some mineral water and snacks that were provided. I had planned to take the tram back up the hill to the parking lot, but the kids wanted to walk, so I reluctantly followed them. However, it turned out to be quite refreshing, and I didn't sweat at all.

Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay was so much fun. On the way back in the car, we heard various stories from Fumio. She mentioned that currently, there are only two sea turtles in Hanauma Bay. It seems that a popular seal at Waikiki Beach has taken the spotlight. What a surprise... When we arrived at the hotel, we thanked Fumio, and the tour ended. I promised myself that if we come back to Hawaii, I will specifically request Fumio for this tour again. I encourage everyone to have a wonderful time on this tour as well.

　夫婦と中学生、小学生の息子の４人で参加しました。8/14の午後のツアーです。いろんなツアーを調べて、最終的にこのツアーにしました。参加者はラッキーにも私たち家族４人のみ。達人ガイドは、フミオさんです（女性です）。フミオさんの運転する車でいざハナウマ湾へ。午後のツアーのせいなのか、たまたまなのか、入場制限などなく、行列もありませんでした。まずはホールでハナウマ湾の説明会。終了後サインしておくと登録され次回はパスできるとの事（期限はあるようですが）。会場を出るとフミオさんと合流し、坂を下って海辺まで。途中、景色の良いところで記念写真をパチリ。浜辺の芝生には、シュノーケルセットがすでに用意されており、装着法を教わります。貴重品は鍵付のトランクがあるのでその中へ収納。安心です。そしていざ海へ。マスクの曇り止めは、よくある唾液を塗りなさいというものではなく、専用の曇り止めをつけてもらい視界爽快。フミオさんが小学生の子供の手を引いてくださるので私たちは安心して自分のシュノーケリングに専念することができました。海は結構波が高く、個人で行くと躊躇しそうなスポットでも、安心してついて行けました。魚の多いスポットはもちろんのこと、念願のウミガメにも出会えて大興奮。心からこのツアーにしてよかったと思いました。海に入っていると思いのほか体が冷えます。皆さんの言うとおり、午前ではなく午後のツアーにして正解でした。海から上がると、着替えたのち、用意されたミネラルウォーターとスナックで一息。駐車場までのぼり坂を帰りはトラムに乗ろうと思っていましたが、子供たちが歩いていくというので仕方なく？ついてゆくことに。でも汗をかくこともなく、思ったより爽快でした。ハナウマ湾のシュノーケリング、あー、楽しかった。帰りの車の中ではフミオさんからいろんなお話を聞きました。現在ハナウマ湾には２匹しかウミガメがいないとの事。ワイキキビーチでは大人気のアザラシ君にやられたそうです。なんということでしょう。。。ホテルに着くと、フミオさんにお礼を言ってツアー終了です。次回もハワイに来たら、フミオさん指定でこのツアーに参加するぞ。。と心に誓うのでした。皆さんもぜひ、このツアーで素晴らしいひと時を。。

I got to see colorful fish, and at the end of the tour, I even met a sea turtle. It swam right towards me, so I could see its face perfectly. It had such cute eyes. Thank you, Chieko, for working hard to find the spot with the sea turtles! Mr. Dan took many underwater photos for us, which will be great memories.

It was a very busy schedule with a morning tour and returning home in the afternoon, but I was picked up separately from the other participants and was able to return to the hotel earlier than planned. I really appreciated that consideration.

I participated with my daughter. It was both of our first time snorkeling, but our guide, Kamio, kindly taught us how to put on the equipment, breathing techniques, and how to use the fins. He even held my hand as I was nervous about swimming, which allowed us to enjoy the experience with peace of mind. We saw many beautiful fish; it felt like a dream, as if we were in an aquarium. We also got to see a honu (sea turtle). I am truly grateful to Kamio for his thoughtful care that eased our worries. I have visited Hawaii many times, but this experience was unlike any other. I highly recommend it.

The morning reservation was fully booked, so we ended up on the afternoon tour, but the fish were beautiful, and we got to see a sea turtle, which made us very satisfied! As a beginner in snorkeling, I was a bit anxious, but I was taught carefully from the basics, and I was able to enjoy snorkeling very much. Swimming close to the fish in Hanauma Bay felt like I had become one of them. Unfortunately, we couldn't see any turtles, but Fumio-san searched hard for them, and I am very grateful for that.

I didn't see any fish at Waikiki Beach, but here there were plenty of fish. The guide also helped us look for turtles, and we got to see a lot of them. They provided thorough explanations for snorkeling, and it wasn't just a casual experience; it felt pleasantly challenging. There's no need to line up at the entrance, so I highly recommend it.

Hanauma Bay Snorkel -- best value for a beginner snorkeler

Take the earliest shuttle (6:00 a.m. from your hotel) to avoid beach crowd and avoid the park fee (if you get there before 7:00 -- no additional park fee!).
Driver was courteous, informative and fun. Equipment was in great condition, and you can expand on what you get (which is basics, but enough) for very little cost.
Had about 2.5 hours of snorkeling fun.

This was my second time participating, following last year. The waves were calm and the sea was very beautiful on the day of the event. Under the guidance of Mr. Dan, I was able to see many fish. I was disappointed that I couldn't meet Bob the moray eel this year, but then Ms. Chieko said, "There are turtles." I was thrilled to see a sea turtle underwater! My husband and son got out partway through, but when they realized there were turtles, Ms. Chieko went all the way to the beach to call out, "There are sea turtles!" Their hospitality and guidance were truly amazing. If I can come again next year, I will definitely ask for them! Thank you very much.

昨年に続き、2回目の参加でした。
当日は波も穏やかで海もとても綺麗でした。
ダン先生の誘導のもと、たくさんの魚も見れました。
今年はウツボのボブちゃんに会えず残念・・と思っていたところに、チエコ先生から「亀いるよ」と。海中で海ガメ感激でした❗❗
夫と息子は途中で上がってしまったの ですが、亀がいるのが分かると、チエコ先生はわざわざ、浜まであがり「海ガメいるよ」と声をかけに行ってもくれました。
お二人のホスピタリティ溢れるガイドは本当にサイコー⤴⤴です。
もし、来年も来ることができたら、必ずお願いしようと思います❗

All the guided snorkeling tours were booked, so we decided to just book the shuttle to Hanauma Bay and do our own snorkeling excursion. It worked out perfectly! The driver arrived at the pick up location on time, was polite and personable, and we didn't have to get up super early to snag a parking spot before the lot filled up. And the snorkeling was great!

I had some anxiety about my first trip to Hawaii. However, I applied here for two reasons: my desire to see sea turtles and the fact that they speak Japanese.

And guess what! I was able to see two sea turtles. I even got to swim right next to them, which was amazing!
