Pre-dinner boat trip was great and set the mood for the beautiful Smith acreage of garden, trees, animals and Culture.
The Luau dinner was the BEST we have ever had. A good variety of Hawaiian and American cuisine. The service was super organized and everyone was seated and eating with- in minutes.
After eating everyone walked about 100 yards to the outdoor theater and enjoyed dancing depicting several cultures as well as Hawaiian traditional dances and fire dance.
The four of us had a wonderful evening!!

This trip is very organized. We arrived at the grounds and were driven on a tram to the gardens (not sure why the tram, completely walkable). We were then left to wander the gardens for a half hour or so. The gardens are beautiful, the whole setting is lovely. The next event was the ceremony explaining how the pig is prepared and cooked, which was somewhat interesting. Next we were ushered into the dining area for cocktails and dinner. The pork was delicious, the rest basically typical buffet fare. Dinner felt like we were at a big wedding reception and didn't know anyone. If you like buffets and big feedings, you'll love this. Not our family's cup of tea. After dinner we walked to the theater for the show. The show was fine, the dancers were fine, it was entertaining. We didn't really know what to expect from a luau when we signed up and now that we've experienced it, we'll never feel a need to go back. Glad we saw the dancing but this is the one excursion we regret having spent our time and money on during our week in Kauai.

We bought the river cruise as an add on to the Luau. It is a pleasant ride on the river with a tour guide and some hula dancing. Honestly we could hardly understand/hear what the guided was saying on the ride. The dancing was nice. The whole experience was just a little underwhelming. Would not sign up for it as an individual event.

Kauai Mountain Tubing Adventure – Float Through Jungle Tunnels & Canals

Great fun with a leisure activity

This was something very different that we did and it was a lot of fun. There were about 20 people on the river floating which made it all the more enjoyable finding out where people are from. The water is invigorating, refreshing and relaxing. No matter how claustrophobic you might be, you can easily do this. Fun for the whole family.

The performers we're so friendly and entertaining. you could tell they enjoyed presenting the music and dance show. the river ride was scenic and relaxing. the walk to the grotto and back was beautiful. highly recommend. don't book online with another company for $40 each. its only 20 when you book on this site.

We had a nice time on the river boat cruise and the luau was exceptional. We have been to at least 5 other luaus over the last several years and this was by far the best. The food was great. The entertainment was great and it was very well organized.

I booked the Holoholo without doing much research right before my trip. The captain and crew were very cool, and the participants were from various countries. The stunning views and my first snorkeling experience became unforgettable memories. I might do it again! (laughs)

Nice trip for a reasonable cost. Entertainment at the Fern Grotto was a nice touch. Entertainers then return on the boat with you for the trip back, singing and dancing all the way. Easy on and off access.

This was exciting and passionate! Well choreographed and emotion filled. The Dancers are sexy and in great shape, and very much into their roles! The history is that of many pioneers and reveals all the sorrow and exhilaration of coming to a new land! Hawaii is no different than America and the West, or of Europe and its colonization. The story is fiery in its presentation with several ovations prompted by the force of the dancers, well worth seeing. And the food is excellent. The whole is well organized and amazing!!

Excellent Tour.

We usually choose to avoid the tours in favour of exploring on our own. However, on advice from friends who previously lived in Hawaii, a Luau is an experience not to be missed.
We chose the Fern Grotto River Boat Tour and Smith's Tropical Paradise Garden Luau combination tour with pick up and drop off from our hotel. It proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and evening.
The Fern Grotto, despite now missing a large number of ferns after the hurricane, is still a beautiful and tranquil spot to visit.
The highlight of this tour was definitely the Luau though. From start to finish, the service and quality of the show were seamless. The grounds are beautifully manicured and a photographer's delight. The food was delicious and ample in quantity; especially the pork. We were most impressed with how they managed to serve so many people in such an organised fashion. Everything was so very orderly and most visitors were invited to help themselves to second and third helpings. The Mai Tais and Punch were delicious and soft drinks were also readily available.
The show itself was very good and we were highly impressed with the quality of the performance.
Overall, a fabulous tour and highly recommended for all ages.

The day before, I was thrilled to see Kauai from above on a helicopter tour, where I could take in the breathtaking views of the deep canyons. The next day, I was equally moved to see the dramatic cliffs of the coastline from a cruise ship, experiencing it in a different way. Later, I encountered a pod of Hawaiian dolphins and even went whale watching, which was wonderful.

I had been looking forward to snorkeling, but the moment I jumped into the water, it was so cold that I gave up right away. The schools of fish seemed small as well. Among the foreign guests on board, there was someone who had thoughtfully brought a sweatshirt, so I wish there had been some prior guidance. It was nice that there were no other Japanese people around, but I think it might be boring for those who don't understand English.

The cruise lasted about six and a half hours, and I was very satisfied. Next time, I want to practice snorkeling before boarding.

The tour was outstanding. The staff (Max, Captain Kelly, and Wade) were very professional and provided top-notch service. Their number one priority was ensuring safety of all the passengers. They helped passengers navigate around the boat when needed and made sure all passengers were comfortable throughout the tour. They also made service, including food and drinks, a priority. The 5 1/2 hours on the boat passed quickly. The morning started off with 45 minutes of snorkeling followed by a continental breakfast. The catamaran stopped frequently to view many sightings of whales and pods of dolphins . The staff was very knowledgeable and provided a history of the Napali coast while fielding questions as the passengers took in the breathtaking scenery. The catamaran veered alongside caves and inlets to allow passengers to be sprayed by waterfalls flowing off the 10,000 foot rock formations of the coast. A deli platter lunch followed with soft drinks, wine and beer. The catamaran Leila was well-taken care of with ample seating and standing for all. All in all, a very memorable trip! I would recommend Holo-Holo Charters without hesitation.

We just finished an outstanding Naplai Coast catamaran/snorkel tour with Holo-Holo tours. What a day! The weather was perfect as was the staff and boat. Our crew of Captain Kelly, Matt, and Wade were friendly, personal, and knowledgeable. They briefed us before we departed on everything we needed to know- from safety and motion sickness to snorkeling to whales and dolphins. Then we departed on a terrific 50’ catamaran that, despite being filled to the maximum with 38 people, never felt crowded. We began with a 45 minute snorkeling stop, followed by brief stops to watch pods of dolphins and whales. Then it was on to the magnificent Naplai Coast, where our crew fielded questions and made us feel at home on their boat. This was followed by a great lunch with terrific service and unlimited food and beverages. They took us alongside caves and inlets, always made sure we were comfortable and had something to eat or drink, and clearly enjoyed their work. I will book my future tours with Holo-Holo.

The fern grotto is a piece of Hawaiian history. Originally the site of a huge waterfall, before the river was diverted for irrigation, and originally the site of hundreds of ferns, before being battered by cyclones, this place is not what it once was.
It would have been a very impressive tourist attraction in the early 1900s but unfortunately ferns need water to grow and as it is with the river not going through here this place will never be as impressive and at the moment the tourist operators are trying to flog a dead horse.
Unless they divert the river back through here and let the ferns regenerate I would not recommend it. Time to put this activity out to pasture!

MUST DO in Kauai!!

We highly recommend this boat tour! First off, the crew was incredibly knowledgable about sailing, snorkeling, Hawaiian culture and history and they were beyond attentive to all of our needs on board. Our captain, Kelly, and her three crew members, Shakead, Max and Jay were a lot of fun throughout the day too. We had the opportunity to do some snorkeling, seeing sea turtles, spotted rays and an array of tropical fish - not to mention the school of dolphins that were close enough to touch! As we made our way to the NaPali coast, it was raining (something completely out of the control of our crew), but they still made the most of it. We saw the gorgeous coastline, while Kelly expertly navigated the seas. On our way back, the crew put up the sails and turned down the engines - it made for quite a relaxing way to travel back. Just before reaching port, we followed a few whales and did some whale watching. The crew was patient with everyone on board and made sure that if we wanted to stop to see the whales, we did! We appreciated their accommodating approach to our tour and it definitely was one of the highlights of our vacation at Kauai. Again, we highly recommend this activity!!

What a wonderful trip from beginning to end! This was an amazing excursion. It started off early in the morning but I was delighted to see a captain full of energy and passion for his career. Even though the winds caused concern for our safety up the Na Pali coast, he made sure to kick start the trip with high spirits as we sailed off the dock at sunrise. The water was very calm and we got the chance to meet the crew over breakfast and coffee before our first sighting of dolphins! For the entire trip – even when the waters got rough – the crew was always interested in talking to us and telling us stories about the island. You could tell that they really enjoyed connecting with everyone which made our experience that much better. Who wants to be on a boat where the crew only care about getting the job done? – No one! Thus, this was a refreshing surprise. After going up the Na Pali coast we made our way to Nihau and snorkeled off the boat. The lunch served included sandwiches, veggies with dip, pickles and pasta salad. Of course, who can forget the wine and beer served on our way back to port? Overall, this was a wonderful trip with great company and we will definitely recommend to our friends and family. The next time we travel to Kauai we plan on cruising with Holoholo at sunset. Thank you Holoholo!!

Not to be missed experience in Kauai!

Today my husband and I went on the Holo Hola Napali Snorkel Sail tour. The tour exceeded our expectations in every way. The marina was easy to find and the check in process was pleasant and quick.. The boat was a beautiful 45 foot Catamaran; modern, spotless, white, with 2 big high efficiency motors for my comfort in open ocean! Our crew, Shaked and Max, and our Captain Kelly, were all so skilled, helpful, interesting, professional, and fun! We went snorkeling in a great spot and the water was warm! The trip down the coast was magnificent; scenery spectacular! We saw dolphins, turtles, lots of fish, and whales! We got to put the sails up for awhile and had two nice meals; good quality food, very nice people, and lots of room to move around on the boat. This trip was definitely a major highlight of our vacation on Kauai and this tour company is absolutely excellent! not to be missed!

The luau was held in a beautiful place and it was really fun to explore. Unfortunately, when the seating began we were asked to move multiple times because of reserved seating and it made the dinner portion of our evening very very annoying. Luckily, the entertainment after dinner was awesome.

I was not particularly excited about this excursion because the fern grotto is all dried up and you can't go in anymore. However the entertainment was great. I dont think they could have made the excursion better with all the story telling, music and dancing. It was alot more than i expected and it was a great start to the luau we saw after!
