The horseback riding experience allowed us to spend a very slow time. My wife also enjoyed her first horseback riding experience. The scenery was wonderful with the ocean and mountains, but the fact that it was a filming location for Jurassic Park was a bit underwhelming as a selling point. The weather was bad, but we were prepared for rain, which was helpful (I was almost about to buy a windbreaker). However, the lack of enthusiasm from the staff who accompanied us was disappointing... Even though the horseback riding started at 11:00, we were picked up at 6:50 and had nothing to do for two hours, which was frustrating. After the horseback riding, we had to wait an hour for the shuttle, and since the location is Kualoa, it might be far, but I wish there was a way to improve that. If that could be resolved, it would be perfect.
乗馬体験は、非常にSLOWな時間を過ごすことが出来ました。奥さんも初めての乗馬体験で楽しんでいました。

Basically, you go down two lines in pairs in order. With three guides, you walk and ski in a group of about ten people, repeating this several times. You can either leave your belongings in a paid locker at the entrance or use a free locker at the starting point where the bus takes you, and just carry your camera or phone onto the line. You can't bring drinks, but there are about two places along the way where you can drink water.
At first, you start with shorter runs for practice, gradually moving to longer ones and even skiing backward, allowing for various enjoyable experiences. Each line has a name derived from trees, and the related explanations are interesting (in English). Before skiing, you will be asked various questions, which I’ll list for reference:
- The names of two people
- Favorite drink
- Something to bet on if you win a game in pairs
Around the sixth line, after being asked about allergies, there is a section where each person holds one nut while skiing. There is a bucket placed in the middle of the line, and the game involves throwing the nuts into the bucket while skiing.
Also, since we went directly to the site without transportation, I initially didn’t understand the overall system of Kualoa Ranch very well. Basically, it goes like this:
- Check in at the main reception
Show your voucher and exchange it for activity tickets
- Arrive at the meeting place for each activity about 15 minutes before the start time and wait to be called by the staff
- When the time comes, follow the guide's instructions and move with the group
We had a reservation for a 12:00 start and checked in at 11:30, but since we arrived just in time, I called to confirm. The staff said that if we didn’t arrive by 11:30 to 11:35, it would be considered a cancellation. However, we arrived around 11:30, waited in line at the check-in counter, and checked in at 11:40, which was fine. However, it seemed that the 12:00 session was already closed, so we participated in the 12:30 session instead. Initially, I panicked when I didn’t see our names for the 12:00 session, but I was told that as long as you check in and get the activity ticket, you can definitely participate. Just keep in mind that if you arrive last minute, you might be moved to the next session.

荷物は、入り口の有料ロッカーに預けるか、バスで向かうスタート地点にも荷物入れの無料ロッカーに入れて、カメラやケータイのみ身につけてラインに乗ります。
飲み物は持てませんが、途中2箇所くらい水が飲める場所があります。
最初は練習を兼ねて短いものから、徐々に長いもの、後ろ向きで下りるものなど、それぞれ違った楽しみかたができます。各ラインには木々に由来した名前が付けられており、関連する説明も興味深いです。(英語ですが)
途中滑る前に色々聞かれるので、参考までに列挙すると
・二人の名前
・好きな飲み物
・ペアでゲーム※に勝ったら奢るもの(賭けるもの)
※6本目くらいで、アレルギーがないか聞かれた後、ナッツの実を１人１個手に持って滑る箇所があります。
ラインの中央付近にバケツが置いてあって、滑りながらバケツめがけてナッツを投げ入れるゲームです。
あと、送迎なしで直接現地に向かったので、クアロア牧場全体の全体的なシステムが最初良くわかりませんでした。基本的には、
・総合受付でチェックイン
バウチャーを見せて、アクティビティのチケットと交換してもらう
・開始時刻の15分くらい前までに、各アクティビティの集合場所にいって、係りの人に呼ばれるのを待つ
・時間になったらガイドの指示にしたがって、グループで移動
我々は12時スタートを予約してチェックインが11:30だったのですが、到着時間がギリギリだったので電話で確認しました。案内の人は11:30～11:35までに来ないとキャンセル扱いだと言っていましたが、実際11:30位に到着して、チェックインカウンターの行列に並んで、受付したのが11:40でしたが大丈夫でした。
ただ、12時の回はすでに締め切られていたのか、12:30の回の方での参加になりました。
当初12時の回に名前がなくて焦って確認しましたが、チェックイン済ませてアクティビティチケットさえゲットすれは確実に体験はできるとのことでした。ただスタート時間は、ギリギリに行くと次の回に回るようです。

We participated as a couple, and there was a test drive at the beginning. My husband had no issues with the buggy, but I dropped out! I ended up in the staff's Jeep, which turned out to be great. I was able to enjoy the magnificent scenery. During the two-hour drive, we got to see various filming locations from movies and TV dramas, and the staff were cheerful, creating a very enjoyable atmosphere.
The scenery is just amazing. Many of the staff were very kind. There are other activities as well, so it's definitely a place I want to visit again.

I had a reservation for 11:15, but we had to gather at 7:15! When we arrived, we ended up waiting for two and a half hours. The course was supposed to be two hours through the mountains and the sea, but we just walked slowly in a single line on horseback. The people in front seemed to be beginners, so we hardly moved, and they suddenly stopped, which made it difficult for those of us behind. I didn't enjoy the horseback riding much, but the scenery was amazing.

I reserved a one-hour buggy course. Since there is no shuttle service from the hotel, we scheduled it to coincide with the day we rented a car. As others have mentioned, although the voucher states a 9:30 start time, you need to be there by 9:00, or they will start without you. It seems they start calling names around 9:10. I knew this but still arrived at 9:15 and missed it. However, it was okay. There was another course at 10:30, so I waited a bit and was able to participate starting at 10:30. *Be aware that during peak times, they might refuse you.*
As a note for this tour, a certain level of strength and driving skill is required. Without these, you won't be allowed to ride the buggy, and they are quite strict about it. There was even one person in my group who dropped out.
I participated with my wife, and I wish we had chosen the two-hour course instead of the one-hour course because it was so much fun. The scenery was fantastic, and the weather was perfect with a temperature of 27 degrees in January! Overall, we had a great time.
Photography during driving or riding is prohibited. However, using something like a GoPro that can be attached to your chest is allowed.
For the one-hour course, there is only one photo opportunity. If you want more, I recommend the two-hour course. By the way, if you are late for the two-hour course, I believe it will be treated as a cancellation, so be careful.
There were also horseback riding and location tours, but it was clear that the people on the single-rider buggies were having the most fun.
It's expensive, but it's worth it.

1月なので気温も27度と快適！
とにかく楽しめました。
運転中や乗車中の写真撮影は禁止。でもGoProみたいなもので胸元などに付けられるものはオッケーでした。
1時間コースでは写真の撮影ポイントは1箇所のみです。物足りない人は2時間コースおすすめします。
因みに2時間コースで時間に遅れるとキャンセル扱いになると思いますのでご注意を。
乗馬やロケ地巡りもやってましたが明らかに1人乗りバギーの人が一番楽しそうでした。
高いけどやる価値ありです。

My child is a fan of the Jurassic series, so I thought it would be a service for them, but in the end, I enjoyed it the most! ^_^
I had a great time on the jungle tour, farm tour, and movie tour.
Even if you're not good at English, there are many people who speak Japanese in the park, so I don't think it will be a problem.
The explanations were in Japanese when I participated. ^_^ I definitely want to join again next year in Hawaii, and next time I want to try riding in a jeep or an ATV!

ジャングル、ファームツアー、ムービーツアーどれも楽しませていただきました。

I was torn between the 1-hour course and the 2-hour course, but since I wasn't very interested in the other activities, I chose the 2-hour course, and it was a great decision. There were only two groups of four people in the 2-hour course, so I received thorough support. Additionally, since it was a 2-hour course, I was also taken to the Movie Site, which was a lot of fun. As for clothing, it's better to wear shoes instead of sandals and long pants instead of shorts. It's wise to dress in a way that anticipates being splashed with dung or urine.

The leader spoke English, so I couldn't understand the guide very well. The scenery itself was amazing.
I made a reservation for 15:30, and the meeting time was at 11:00. I thought I would have a lot of free time, but when I checked in, I was guided to a horseback riding session starting at 12:00.
I'm glad I was able to do it early, but it was a bit of a mystery why the horseback riding was scheduled for 15:30. My father had to cancel the two-hour horseback riding due to a foot injury, but on the day of, there were openings, and we were able to take a bus with a Japanese-speaking guide.

I participated in the same tour twice and heard the same stories (´;ᴗ;`). I thought we would be able to eat more fruits while exploring the botanical garden, but we only looked at the trees and listened to explanations (´;ᴗ;`). It was nice to be able to eat fresh macadamia nuts \( ˆoˆ \)/, but since it takes up a whole day, I feel like I might not participate again next time (´;ᴗ;`). The scenery was really great!

We participated as a family of four on a personal trip. I was nervous until we arrived since we booked online. There was no shuttle service, so I debated whether to rent a car or take a taxi until the end. Our reservation was for a meeting time of 8:30 and a start time of 9:30. Our hotel was the Alohilani Resort in Waikiki, which is about a 45-minute drive away, so we had to leave the hotel by at least 7:30. In the end, we took a taxi to the location (about $100 including tip). There are only two routes: one along the coast and the other through the mountains, and we chose the mountain route. Along the way, we encountered a typical morning rain in Hawaii, which made me think, "Oh no!" But by the time we arrived, it had completely cleared up and was sunny!
We quickly checked in and were told to come to the buggy boarding area by 9:15. We stored our belongings in a locker for $5, which we could open and close multiple times. As time passed, many people kept arriving. At the buggy boarding area, we watched a short Japanese DVD for less than 10 minutes, chose our helmets, and finally got on. We wore sneakers that could get dirty, while others borrowed something like Crocs (for free). Before leaving, I read other experiences and worried that my daughter and I wouldn't be able to drive, but we had no problems at all. We went around with a couple from Austria, making a group of six. The filming locations were interesting, though not as famous as those at Universal Studios or Disney, and the ranch we passed had cows that stopped for the buggies. After finishing, it was just lunchtime, so my daughter and I ordered hamburgers at the restaurant, while my husband ordered a steak set with teriyaki sauce. The meat was from pasture-raised cows, and it was delicious!
On the way back, we used the city bus. It seems there are two buses an hour during the day, but they don't come on time. This is Hawaiian time! We waited for about 30 minutes. Finally, we boarded, and it took an hour to get to Ala Moana, costing $5.25 per person. We took the same route back to Waikiki, with locals getting on and off, and the bus was clean. It was a valuable experience since we don't often get a chance to ride the city bus.

バギー乗り場で10分もない日本語のＤＶＤを見て ヘルメットを選びいよいよ乗ります。私たちは汚れてもいいスニーカーでしたが そうでない方々はクロックスのようなものを借りてました（無料）出国前に他の体験談を読んで 私と高校生の娘は運転できないのでは…と心配でしたが 全く問題なく運転できました。私たちとオーストリアから来た夫婦と6人で回りました。ロケ地もＵＳＪやディズニー程ではないですが面白かったし 途中の牧場も牛がバギーが通るまでちゃんと止まってくれますし 何しろ自然が雄大で眺めも飽きません。スタッフさんもおもしろ動画を作ってくれたり とてもいいかたでした。

We arrived early by rental car, and the journey was smooth, allowing us to arrive relatively quickly. The check-in process was handled by staff who spoke Japanese and provided thorough explanations. Since we arrived early, I inquired about other activities, but they were fully booked.
After watching the DVD several times, they selected horses based on each person's physique. The horses were well-trained and calm, and my 10-year-old daughter quickly got used to riding. We enjoyed the scenery while being grateful for the patient and strong horses with their big, round eyes. However, since the horses occasionally stumbled, it’s better to use both hands firmly.
Despite the cloudy weather and occasional light rain, there were muddy spots on the path that slowed the horses down, making the ride take over two hours, but it passed in no time and was very enjoyable. We went as a family of five, and I believe this will be a memorable page in our Hawaii experience. I was excited to be in a precious place that was only accessible to royalty, but the occasional sound of helicopters and four-wheeled buggies felt out of place, which was a bit disappointing.
On the way back in the afternoon, you can return via either Kahuku or Haleiwa, so I recommend taking your time and going by rental car.

曇天で時に小雨の降る中で、道がぬかるんでいる場所があり馬の歩みが遅く、
2時間以上かかりましたが、あっという間に過ぎ大変良かったです。
家族5人で行きましたが、ハワイの思い出に残る１ページになると思います。
王族しか入れなかった貴重な場所ということでテンションが上がりましたが
たまにヘリの音と四輪バギーは雰囲気に場違いなようでそこは残念でした。
帰りの午後はカフク、ハレイワ経由でもカイルア経由でも帰れますので、
やはり、時間に余裕をもってレンタカーで行くのがおすすめです。

After an hour on the bus, we arrived. I couldn't keep my backpack with me, so I stored it in a locker and was ready to go. We watched a DVD with riding instructions, and then it was time for the 2-hour tour. Everything was in English, and we didn't stop for photos, even at the photo points. The tour time is limited, and we gathered at 6:50 AM to board the bus, but I thought it might have been okay to meet a bit later. We had about 30-50 minutes of free time in the morning, which left the kids a bit bored.

I really enjoyed the time spent with the gentle horses while exploring the ranch, including the movie filming locations, and seeing the mountains, the sea, and even a rock shaped like a turtle. Since the course started at 12:15, the pickup was at 9:50, allowing us to enjoy the hotel buffet before participating! The waiting time was almost nonexistent, and everything went smoothly. There were few Japanese-speaking staff, so I asked nearby Japanese guests for help while moving around. I thought it might be dangerous to carry my camera, so I put it in a locker, but the horses were calm and it would have been fine to bring it. I regret not taking my camera to capture the beautiful scenery and filming locations. I highly recommend bringing a camera. It was so much fun, and I would love to participate again!

We went to the location on our own without a shuttle. The place was easy to find, and the check-in was smooth. During the horseback riding, we can't take backpacks or bags, so we have to leave them in lockers. It's not free. We left them in the car and were able to take water, a camera, and our phones. They explained how to ride in broken Japanese, and then we set off. The horse was smart and walked in a line, so I felt safe riding without any running. I was happy to ride in the magnificent nature! Depending on the reservation situation that day, there was about an hour of waiting time after arriving by shuttle bus until the horseback riding assembly time, so I looked around the shop and took photos with the horses while waiting.
Once the horseback riding began, we went to the back of the vast grounds near the mountains and returned, but the guide did not provide any information about the filming locations at all; they only directed the horses that were lagging behind, and we just rode along while taking photos of the scenery. I visited with my 2-year-old son, and we had a great time. There were staff members who understood Japanese, which made our sightseeing enjoyable. In addition to visiting movie filming locations, we saw sea turtles from the boat and ate fresh macadamia nuts and starfruit at the botanical garden. It was more fun and safe than I expected. I was just hanging on, but for some reason, I felt a sense of accomplishment afterward. I think the conversation with the cute instructor made me feel that way. I felt a bit sorry that my responses weren't great, even though she was trying hard to speak in English. But honestly, it didn't bother me at all. Since it was high and long, it was fast, and looking down, I saw a dense green forest. Looking up, I saw the blue sky. It wasn't quite like being Tarzan, but it was refreshing. However, by the end, I didn't mind it, but for a while after putting it on, the helmet smelled really bad.

This was my second or third horseback riding experience in life. I was a bit worried about riding for two hours, but the horse was smart and followed the horse in front of it perfectly. There were six of us in the group this time. I was told not to let the horse eat grass, so I pulled the reins a few times when it seemed like it wanted to lower its head, but it responded well to my signals to move right or left, which was impressive. We encountered some hills and even crossed a small stream, but I managed to ride without any issues. The problem was that after about an hour, my backside started to hurt. I tried to shift my weight to my toes to cope, but it was a bit uncomfortable. However, the scenery was beautiful, especially with views of the ocean. It seemed that the location had been used in many movies, and although I had watched a promotional video on TV beforehand, there weren't many signs on-site, and the staff only provided limited information.
Since there was no tour scheduled in the 9 AM slot, I signed up for the 11 AM tour, but the pickup was only at 6:50 AM. I arrived after 8 AM, so I had to wait for nearly three hours. The return trip felt like it was based on gathering enough people for one bus after check-in. During the free time, I could only go to the beach nearby, check out the horses, or visit snack spots and souvenir shops, which was a bit boring.
I wish there had been more buses scheduled to match the tour times. However, I was glad to have the experience of riding a horse in such an extraordinary setting.
人生２度目か３度目の乗馬体験。２時間も乗って回れるのかと少し心配しながらの参加。しかし、馬のほうがお利口で、ちゃんと前の馬の後についって言ってくれる。今回は６名での一行となった。草は食べさせないでといわれていたので、首を下げそうになった時は手綱を引っ張り、やめさせる行動を３回ほどしたものの、右に動いたり左へという合図にもほんの少しでちゃんと動いてくれて感動。のぼりや下り坂、果ては小さな小川を渡るというところもあったものの無事に乗ることができた。問題は１時間もしないくらいのところでお尻が痛くなったこと。足先に力を入れてみたりと、だましだましでの乗馬となった。しかし、海が見えるところなどもあり景色は良かった。ロケ地としては、たくさんの映画に使われているようで、事前に、テレビでの紹介ビデオが流れているところで予習をしていたものの、現地ではさほどたくさんの看板があるわけでもなく、スタッフの人がいくつかは教えてくれる程度。
その日は９時台は予定されていなかったので、１１時発のツアーに申し込んだが、迎えは６時５０分の１本だけ。８時過ぎには着いたので、３時間近くも待ち時間があった。帰りはバスのチェックインがすんで１台分人数が集まったら出発という感じであった。空いた時間は海が近くにあるので、海岸まで行ったり馬を近くに見に行ったり、軽食をとる場所やお土産屋さんを見たりくらいの過ごし方しかできず、少し退屈であった。
お迎えのバスがツアーの出時刻に合わせていくつか用意してあればいいなと思った。しかし、非日常の馬に乗って回るという体験ができたことはよかった。

I went horseback riding for two hours. The day I made the reservation was rainy, so I decided to go anyway, but with this weather, it would be good if I could ride for an hour. I was advised to consider another day, so I decided to ride on a different day.
I was helped by their efficient service.
Riding for two hours is quite intensive, so if you're not used to riding, you might worry about muscle soreness the next day.
However, I recommend it because you can see breathtaking views of the sea and mountains that you wouldn't normally get to see!
2時間の乗馬をしました。
予約した日は雨だったので行くだけ行ってみましたが、この天気だと1時間乗れれば良い方なので、他の日はどうでしょうかと勧められた為、別日に乗ることにしました。
手際よく対応していただけたので助かりました。
2時間の乗馬は結構みっちり乗るので、普段乗り慣れてない方だと翌日の筋肉痛が心配になるかもしれません。
ただ、海や山の景色については普段見ることが出来ないような絶景を見ることが出来るのでオススメします！
