Hawaii
I wrote the waiver in the car on the way there and watched a DVD with explanations. The DVD was in English, but the subtitles were only in Korean and Chinese, so it would have been nice to have Japanese subtitles as well.
When we arrived, it was raining, so we waited for about two hours before we could finally take off. I was nervous during the flight to the point in the Cessna, but once we jumped, I felt no fear, and the parachute opened in no time.
We floated for about five minutes while enjoying the breathtaking views of the North Shore before landing!
Lastly, I think it's a good idea to prepare about $20 in tips for the instructor who jumped with us. I didn't request a camera this time, but I would like to ask for one if I have the chance again.
When it was our turn, unfortunately, clouds rolled in, so we couldn't reach 4260 meters, but they properly refunded us even though we didn't know how high we had gone. I think the company itself is a good one, and I had a valuable experience, so I'm very satisfied. Many people in our group didn't take photos, but I think it's better to request them. By the way, I'm not good with thrill rides. Those are scarier for me (laughs).
■Pickup
Around 5 AM, a pickup arrived at the hotel, and I was handed some documents. I read through the text in the car and signed a waiver, but be careful of motion sickness as the roads are bumpy.
In the car, a video in Japanese plays explaining that they can't take responsibility if you die while skydiving, and that the parachute may not open.
■Arrival at the Airport - Check-in
Upon arriving at the airport, I was taken to a room with small benches where I received a completely English explanation... What a surprise, it wasn't in Japanese!!!!
After most of the explanation was done, I was called up and asked questions like, "Are you just going to jump? Do you want a photographer?" While waiting in line, some people were directed to the Japanese class, while others, despite showing their Japanese passports, were not taken to the Japanese class.
I wasn't taken either, even though it said there would be a Japanese briefing... (I really wanted the explanation in Japanese...)
■Check-in Notes
The voucher was taken by the driver, but I was asked for the voucher again, and since the driver went missing, it would be better to prepare two vouchers or have the email ready to show immediately.
(I was checking the altitude on my email screen.)
■Waiting Time
They called out names for those who were ready, but it was raining from the morning. I waited for about 6 hours (or more?) until the clouds cleared after 1 PM.
(At first, they said we would wait until 11 AM, but I think we waited because some people were able to jump when it cleared up. There was nothing around, and I was really bored, so I recommend bringing something to pass the time!)
So, I was told to quickly put my belongings in a locker, but it’s safer not to store them right away, especially your phone. Lockers cost 25 cents for four. You can also exchange bills.
■Skydiving
It was amazing until the parachute opened. The feeling of the air as you jump is incredible. It’s a sensation I’ve never experienced before, with the wind blowing against my body. It was super fun.
After the parachute opened, the instructor was quite the character; even though he told me to spin, he kept saying, "Haha! I got it, I got it," while spinning around, and even though he said to go slowly, he was descending quickly, saying, "Haha! I got it, I got it." It wasn’t a joke; it genuinely made me feel nauseous. I thought I might throw up. I wanted to enjoy the scenery more slowly... but I think he meant well. It wasn’t necessary, though.
I could see the altimeter in the plane, and honestly thought, "Wait, we're jumping from here?" I wish they had told me earlier if we couldn't go higher. I had to rebook for the next day.
It was amazing until the parachute opened, so that’s what I regret the most.
*I took a one-day type of motion sickness medication, but because the waiting time was so long, I didn’t feel any effect by the time I jumped. I got really nauseous. I think it depends on the instructor.
I believe you need motion sickness medication for the car ride in the morning, so I recommend taking something that works quickly just before jumping!
■Tips
There are boxes for tips for each staff member, and you can put them in after the jump. You don’t have to worry about how to give them.
■Image and Video Check
Since I had a photographer, I was told to check the images and videos. Until my footage played, I just stared at videos of strangers. The data is purchased on a USB, so I recommend bringing it back as carry-on luggage.
■Return to the Hotel
It seems the car left right after I finished jumping, so I was left behind, and I ended up returning around 5 PM. The others who came with me had jumped much earlier. The order here is a mystery. Is it by application order?
On the day of skydiving, it might be better to think of it as lucky if you can return early.
■Impressions
Overall, I’m glad I did it! However, I’m really disappointed that the weather didn’t coopera
I thought skydiving was so dangerous activity but when i had seen the guide jumper, all of my worries was gone. So It was very comfortable and exiting, joyful, happy and so on....As i was fallen down from the plane all of my stresses flied out of mind either. The rainbow in the air was very awsome, fantastic and really looks like Howaii.I want to try to with my lovely relatives and friends. thank you.
Saw at least 15 sharks!! We went on the last tour of the day and the waters were extremely choppy. I would book a tour first thing in the morning. Otherwise it was amazing!!
Our guide, Kai, was absolutely amazing! While we weren't able to make it to the swimming hole due to massive amounts of rain making it unsafe at the water crossings, he took us on an additional hiking section where we got to see various parts of the trail. The lunch provided was hand-made and was delicious... wish I knew how to make those rolls! I would more than recommend this excursion with Kai... he gets more than 5 stars!
Our zipline adventure was amazing! I am sure we help set the tone for the morning, but the guys were absolutely great! They were very personable, knowledgeable and really knew how to have fun with us. I would recommend this excursion for anyone who wants a little adventure and wants to have fun doing it!
It was fun.
I think it's something you should experience at least once in your life.
After jumping (or falling?), I was completely exhausted.
Before going, I was concerned about the tip, but considering the instructors who work hard every day risking their lives, I think it's reasonable to pay around $20.
I also requested photos. They have become great memories of the trip.
On May 30th, I tried ziplining, which I had been interested in for a while during the Hawaiian holiday. It was refreshing! The views were amazing! As a middle-aged couple at 49, we were as excited as kids! The apple bananas at the water station were delicious. Although no one spoke Japanese, we had a fantastic time. If the price were a bit lower...
It was great, i got picked up and he drove out to the northshore, showed us around the town and then the activities started. He was very available to pickup after each activity and drop you off where you wanted to go. Waterfall, snorkeling, shrimp truck, beach time & stand up paddle board, it was great. There are other activities to pick from. He even stopped because he saw a sea turtle was sitting on the beach, so we could see it and take pics, it was great!
I felt a bit lonely participating alone, but the instructors and the other participants really lifted my spirits, so it was no problem at all. Skydiving is truly an amazing experience! You won't understand that feeling unless you try it. I'm really glad I gathered the courage to do it.
I slowly rode while looking at Turtle Bay. It felt so nice. The horses were calm and very gentle. I'm sorry for being a heavy lady. It was a very enjoyable and delightful horseback riding experience in Hawaii. They guided us to the shrimp lunch early, so we could eat right away without waiting. It was delicious!
so awesome so fun!!! felt safe and had fun the entire time!
The view from up there - above the clouds - is beyond words. I am very very glad I did it. Everyone was very pleasant. Brad and Kai are the best - the rest are equally capable.
We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon, and it was our first time trying horseback riding. I had always wanted to try riding, but I was hesitant to jump into multiple activities for several hours, so I booked just a one-hour horseback riding course.
One of my biggest concerns for this honeymoon was that we chose a course at Kualoa Ranch, which is quite far from Waikiki, and it didn't include transportation, so I wasn't sure how to get there. For those in the same situation, here are some tips:
1. Take the number 55 bus, which runs once an hour from Ala Moana Center. (You can check the bus schedule using the DaBus app.)
2. Get off at KAMEHAMEHA HWY + OPP KUALOA RANCH. (There are several bus stops with KUALOA in the name, so be careful not to get off at the wrong one.)
3. Right in front of you as you get off is the entrance to Kualoa Ranch.
For the return trip, there is a bus stop on the opposite side of the road, so I recommend taking the bus back to Ala Moana Center. It took just a little over an hour by bus from Ala Moana Center.
Finally, when it was time for horseback riding, the horses were prepared for the women first. As my wife got on her horse and waited, her horse was already a bit restless. When I got on my horse next to hers, it seemed that our horses didn't get along and started to fight, which scared my wife and almost made her want to quit. However, after changing her horse, we were able to set off.
After that, both my horse and my wife's horse calmed down, and we enjoyed an hour of riding. (My wife was too nervous to fully enjoy the scenery, though...) Just as I was getting comfortable with riding, the hour was up, and I wished there had been a 90-minute option available.
Kualoa Ranch itself is a beautiful and pleasant place, so I would like to try other activities there next time.
2.KAMEHAMEHA HWY+OPP KUALOA RANCH
You will be picked up by a shuttle bus at the hotel meeting point and taken to the airport on the North Shore. We gathered at 5:00 and arrived around 6:00. During the bus ride, we signed various consent forms, acknowledging things like "You won't sue us if something goes wrong," and so on. The bus ride also included important points about tandem skydiving, summarized as follows:
1. Right after jumping, bend your legs at a 90-degree angle and face backward. Do not spread your arms.
2. When your shoulder is tapped, spread your arms and enjoy the fall at 200 km/h.
3. During landing, you will be instructed to "lift your legs" and "stand," so follow the instructions.
Upon arrival, you will quickly choose the height of your fall and options (photo, video, or both). You can choose to have a tandem instructor take the photos or a separate cameraman. I recommend opting for the separate cameraman for more exciting videos. By the way, you can also add videos even after the jump. The restroom is a bit far, so you will need to take the shuttle to get there.
When you return from the restroom, the tandem instructor will explain what you saw in the video while helping you put on your gear. Before you know it, the plane's engine is running, and you board for takeoff. It takes about five minutes to reach the jump point, but everyone is silent, possibly out of fear, while the tandem instructors stir up anxiety by saying things like "Danger" in English.
Then, just as the cameraman jumps, it’s time to jump too!!!!
As you spin and get into position, you will soon feel a tap on your shoulder. The rapid ascent and descent can make your ears pop, so it’s good to be able to equalize, but time passes so quickly that you might not have much time to think. It’s better to have some poses in mind beforehand, but for now, just scream and enjoy!
Before you know it, the parachute opens, and you can enjoy the view. The yellow steering cords are handed to you, and you can steer left and right, which is quite fun. When landing, you come down with quite a bit of force, but if you listen carefully to your tandem instructor, it will be easy. Depending on the location, you might land on a slippery spot and get your pants wet.
After landing, you will be handed a yellow bag and asked for a tip! They suggest $20 or more, so I put in $20 and wrote a note of thanks. The video will play in the waiting area in about ten minutes, and after checking it, you’ll be asked if you want to buy it, and then it’s just a matter of taking the shuttle bus back. We left at 8:30 and returned to our hotel by 10:00. It might depend on the day, but if everyone on the shuttle jumps from the same height, the return trip should be smooth.
I think it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but you’ll want to jump again!
The luau experience was fantastic. I would definitely recommend everyone that visits Oahu to go to this luau instead of any of the others. It's a little bit out of the way if your staying in the main city but if you're from the mainland a 1 hour drive is nothing. The luau teaches you about the history of the islands and how it became what itime is today. They have shows and activities for each of the stages that they present. I would advise to go as soon as they open to be able to do all the shows and activities. the buffet was okay, but what can you really expect from a buffet. "Ha!, breath of life" show after the dinner buffet is what made this luau worth the money. It's an unforgettable experience that everyone that visits should go to.
Mahalo Denny, Aloha oe!
The zipline at Kualoa Ranch is a great option. One of the advantages of the Keana Farm is that you can choose the zipline alone, which is not possible at Kualoa, and it includes round-trip transportation. At Kualoa, you can opt for round-trip transportation if you select other tours like the buggy, but if you choose the zipline alone, transportation is not included, making it difficult to get there.
You will zipline seven times with a group of ten people and three local foreign guides over about three hours. The tour description mentions a buggy ride (1.5 hours), but this does not refer to a self-driven buggy like at Kualoa, nor is it actually 1.5 hours; it refers to about a 20-minute buggy ride between the first and second ziplines.
While it seems like snacks are included, it's better to assume there will be almost none. The ziplining itself is very enjoyable, and the foreign guides are cheerful and entertaining. They are also very thorough about safety, which gives a sense of reassurance that the staff is well-trained.
Perhaps because it’s a tour for foreigners, the pickup vehicle did not arrive at the scheduled time (laughs). It takes about an hour and a half to get to Keana Farm from Waikiki, which felt very far. It would be good to have warm clothing to endure the cold car interior. No Japanese is spoken at all. I would like to go again.
Trip was awesome! Would definetly do it again. The tour guide Angela was great!
It was amazing!!! At first, I was scared, but I was helped by a kind and funny instructor! I didn't have any particular worries! However, I was picked up at 5 PM and finished flying by 8 PM, and the bus back to Waikiki didn't leave until 11 PM, so I just slept on a bench for three hours. I do want to fly again next year, but I think I'll go by rental car then.
This tour is a great way to see and experience the North Shore from the land and in the water. Our tour guide (HC) knew his way around the island like nobody's business. He went the extra mile to ensure we had a great time. Plenty of time for snorkeling, bike riding, checking out waterfalls, SUP or kayaking AND SHOPPING! I highly recommend!
I had a very enjoyable day. The bus guide, who claimed to be from Yoshimoto, kept the atmosphere lively with laughter throughout the ride. The guide at the Polynesian Cultural Center was also a very cheerful and kind young man. He efficiently guided us to the showtimes, allowing us to explore the vast grounds with satisfaction. For dinner, we enjoyed a Hawaiian show while wearing beautiful flower leis.
The highlight was definitely the evening show. We had front-row seats! The two main performers were stunningly attractive. You could feel the intensity of the actors' sweat and breathing, making it very powerful. The fire show was particularly impressive; it felt like they were putting their lives on the line.
After the performance, the actors came over to shake hands, which was truly moving. After that, we returned to the bus with plenty of time to spare before departure. However, it seemed like the return bus was going quite fast, as I don't think anyone was sleeping.
It was my first time skydiving, and I was really nervous, but the instructor and the driver were incredibly kind and friendly. The dive was so moving that I almost cried. I think it was a wonderful experience in my life.
What a great time! Not scary at all. We got awesome video! Definetly a must!
Organized, fun crew. Eight 8-10 foot Galapagos Sharks. Really exciting experience!
We had an excellent time here. We were picked up via motorcoach in Waikiki at 10:20 am. Our bus driver was hilarious and kept us entertained the hour we were on the bus. Beautiful drive there. We arrived at the center at 1145 and the center opened at 12. I would highly recommend a tour guide! There was SO much to do and see and I feel we didn't get to see even 1/2 of it all due to the center being so big and the small events starting at different times. The Ohana Hawaiian luau dinner was delicious! Pig, pulled pork, teriyaki chicken breasts, fresh fruit, poke, salads, fish, desserts, and so much more! The show during dinner was great as well. Ha, the breath of life is worth every penny! We got back to Waikiki around 11pm. It was a very full but very fun day!
Mahalo Sarah for your feedback, Aloha or!
The sensation of falling from 4,300 meters at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour was an invaluable experience that cannot be replaced by anything else. The views of Oahu were absolutely stunning, and I definitely want to do it again!
At the skydiving center, there were many instructors who seemed very experienced, jumping one after another, which made me feel at ease to take on the challenge.
I will definitely do it again! It was amazing!
Our first scheduled tour was cancelled last minute for unknown reasons, but luckily we were able to reschedule for later in our vacation.
Anyways, it was pretty fun. The jeep was closed-topped and air conditioned; fairly comfortable.
Tour guide was great; laid back and flexible.
We didn't really spend much time at the Dole plantation. We didn't go to a coffee plantation, but did stop at a macadamia shop. We didn't stop at Byodo temple. We skipped lunch, but did stop at a fruit stand. We stopped at several scenic points of interest, but as expected, a lot of the time was spent getting from place to place. We did do a small hike, which I guess I might have missed that in the description as I was unprepared..bring shoes!
Decent tour if you prefer a small group (we were paired with one other couple).
This was probably one of our more strenuous/lengthier hikes (water and proper footwear are highly recommended- it can get slippery on the trail). It was a lot of fun. We did cross some streams which were a bit difficult for some. You will get sweaty, wet, and dirty. No bathrooms, of course, so be prepared.
Great views. Tour guide was excellent, very passionate, helpful, and knowledgeable! Lunch was pretty good- everyone seemed to like it. Private mountain pool swim was enjoyed by most.
During a company trip, I thought I should go at least once in my life. There was also a 68-year-old woman with us.
Anyway, it was so much fun! I had an extraordinary experience surrounded by incredibly beautiful scenery. The instructor, Brad, was lively and fantastic. I want to do it again!
