It was a very enjoyable submarine tour! I was thrilled to see a pod of dolphins. I was able to observe marine life up close, just like scuba diving. The boarding point was close to Kona and very convenient from our hotel. I would love to participate again.

We enjoyed the Oahu Sightseeing Tour (Grand Circle Island Tour w/ Kualoa Ranch and Dole Pineapple Plantation). Our driver/tour guide "Napi" had so much information to share with us - he really made this trip interesting. I learned many things about the island that I would not have known about had we gone on this trip by ourselves in a rental car The price was reasonable and worth it. I recommend this to anyone coming to Oahu.

They have excelled my expectation on every aspects: the boat, crew, food, entertainment, etc. The cruise ended with the beautiful Hawaiian sunset over the vast Pacific Ocean. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who has never been to Hawaii!! Our tour guide was super nice and very knowledgeable. We rode the beach cruiser and it was really nice to just ride along the beach, but you have to be careful as you do share the road with cars. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and spend the whole day at the North Shore. We had an awesome time and I cannot wait to do it again.

I participated in the Independence Day celebration at One Star. 独立記念日にワンスターで参加しました。

First, it was quite challenging to get on the bus to the port. The staff made a mistake with the passenger list, so we couldn't board right away. There were mostly Japanese people gathered, but there was someone who could speak English, which was helpful for conversation.

Since it was a one-star experience, my wife and I had our meal at a shared table, reminiscent of a school trip. The food was simple, but I wasn't concerned since I didn't have high expectations for the meal from the start. The waiter was the same person who made the mistake with the bus list. Overall, the service felt a bit casual, or you could say it had a homey atmosphere.

During the meal, a show and live performances started, but with the sunset, about half of the guests got up to take pictures outside or enjoy the view from the ship.

Since it was a large ship, it didn't sway much, which was nice.

As night fell, the Independence Day fireworks began. The ship docked right in front of the launch site. I had heard from locals that the fireworks were smaller compared to those in Japan, but perhaps because it was the 50th anniversary, they were quite satisfying.

In higher classes, there might be a dress code, allowing for a more relaxed dining experience while watching the fireworks.

On the way back, there was a tremendous traffic jam. It usually takes about ten minutes to get back to the Marriott Hotel, but it took over an hour. If you are in a group, it might be nice to walk back while enjoying the scenery.

スタッフのかたが乗車名簿を間違えてしまい、すぐに乗ることができませんでした。日本人ばかりで集まっていましたが、英語を話せる方がいたのでいろいろと話をしていただいて助かりました。

ワンスターだったので、まるで修学旅行のような、相席のテーブルで妻と食事をとりました。
食事はシンプルなものでしたが、最初から食事に関して期待していなかったため気になりませんでした。
担当ウェイターはバスの名簿を間違えた人でした。接客は全体的になぁなぁな感じで、よくいえばアットホームなとでも言えましょうか。

食事中にショーやライブが始まりましたが、サンセットも重なり半分くらいの人が席を立って外で写真撮影や船上からの景色を眺めたりしていました。

大きな船ということもあり、さほど揺れもきになりませんでした。

いよいよ夜になり、独立記念日の花火大会が始まりました。船は打ち上げ場所の目の前で停泊。花火は日本と比べて小規模だと現地の方から伺っていましたが、５０周年記念ということもあってか、結構満足のいったものでした。

もっと上のクラスではドレスコードもあり、ゆったりとクルージングディナーをして座りながら花火を観ることができたのですかね。

帰りがものすごく渋滞して、マリオットホテルまで帰るのに普段１０分くらいなのですが1時間以上かかりました。複数でいたら散歩しながら帰るのもいいかもしれません。

This time, I went to the Big Island for the first time, and Mauna Kea was the best. The cold-weather gear from the nature school was warm and comfortable, and the lunch was delicious. On July 2nd, The historical sunset cruise we took was fabulous right until the end but we were very disappointed that the captain elected to dock five minutes too soon. A fantastic sunset was in the making and if we had slowed down five minutes we would have been treated to a terrific sky. Everyone with a camera was out on deck with cameras ready, and we just pulled right in to dock watching the sun slip behind the island instead of over the water where it would have been had we stayed out five more minutes. I know for certain many others were unhappy with this handling of time. Why we had to dock so quickly is a mystery to me.

I previously participated in the Haleakalā volcano sunrise and downhill tour twice, but this time I joined the sunset and stargazing tour with my family, as my younger child is still small. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations. (I'm sorry!) I never imagined it would become one of the top three memories of my life.

First of all, it was my first time on a tour with a Japanese guide, and Mr. Yamauchi's explanations were very easy to understand. I learned so much more and grew to love Maui even more, realizing how deep it is. The bento box was warm and truly delicious.

The sunset was, of course, moving, but the emotion I felt when I looked up at the starry sky... I was reminded that the Earth is surrounded by so many stars, and I realized for the first time how beautiful the universe is. It was a feeling that could only be experienced by seeing it with my own eyes, not through a planetarium or an encyclopedia. Tears just flowed without reason, and I couldn't stop crying even in the car on the way back.

This is a feeling that you can only experience by seeing it with your own eyes!!

私は以前２度ハレアカラ火山のサンライズ＆ダウンヒルのツアーに参加したことがあるのですが、今回は家族連れで、下の子がまだ小さかったため、このサンセット＆星空観測ツアーに参加しました。正直期待はしてませんでした。（スミマセン！）それがこんな人生で３本の指に入るような思い出になるとは思いもしませんでした。

まず、日本人の添乗員が付いたツアーも初めてだったのですが、山内さんの説明はとてもわかりやすく、より多くのことがわかり、マウイって奥が深いなぁ~とますます好きになりました。幕の内弁当もあったかくてほんとに美味しかったです。

サンセットももちろん感動でしたが、星空を見上げたときのあの感動・・・。地球はこんなにも多くの星に囲まれていることを思い知らされ、宇宙とはこんなにも美しいものだと初めて知りました。それはプラネタリウムでも、事典でもない肉眼で見ているからこその感動でした。訳もなくただただ涙が溢れてきて、帰りの車の中でも涙が止まりませんでした。

これは実際に自分の目で見なければ味わうことの出来ない感動です！！

３０００ｍを超えているのに、ガードレールも街灯もない道を山内さんは、すいすいと運転していきます。国立公園なので、景観重視との事。さすがアメリカ。転落するのは、運転手が悪いそうです。
下界から見ると雲がかかっているので、心配していましたが、雨雲を抜け雲海の上に出ると、そこは別世界。
夕日も綺麗でした。
少々雲があったので、満天の星空とはなりませんでしたが、久しぶりに天の川を見ることが出来ました。また、初めて南十字星も見ることが出来ました。人工衛星も横切りました。
こんなすばらしいツアーをもっと前に知っていたら、一昨年亡くなった妻と一緒に参加したのに残念です。でも、今回参加した姉はとても喜んでくれました。
帰りは、肝試しの話や、吉田卓郎やユーミンなどの懐メロなども聞け、あっという間に時間が過ぎました。有難うございました。

The Smith family embraces you with their Hawaiian charm as soon as you meet them! The river trip to the Fern Grotto was a beautiful experience. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary so when the singers sang the Hawaiian Wedding Song it was very special! The Hula dancer on-board was not only beautiful, but very talented as well. Even my husband participated in the learning of the Hula dance - much to my delight! I would do this trip again if ever given the chance. Truly memorable!

This was our last planned event during our stay and it was a wonderful way to spend our last night in Hawaii. We were quickly shown to our table and the dinner service went smoothly from there. We went up to the deck above several times to check out the view of Waikiki Beach all the way down to Diamond Head. Dinner was wonderful (although a little messy since we had the lobster) and the entertainment (a jazz duo with a saxophonist for a couple numbers) during dinner was lovely. We came back to our table at one point to find the photo they took right after we boarded sitting in a very nice cover on our table, free with the package we ordered. The show after dinner was quite entertaining, especially when they got everyone in the room up on their feet and dancing in one big mass of people, it was so much fun!

The Wailua River Cruise to Fern Grotto was enjoyable. I recommend taking the last cruise and then going to the Smith Luau.

We are in our golden years, but we went to Maui for our honeymoon. It was my first time in 13 years, and for my husband, it was his first visit to Maui.

We debated whether to go for sunrise or sunset, but since we wanted to see the starry sky slowly from a mountain over 3,000 meters high, we chose sunset.

At 2:30 PM, we were picked up in front of our hotel (Ka'anapali). As we passed through the town of Lahaina, we were given recommendations for restaurants and galleries. After a tea time at Krispy Kreme, we headed to the town of Makawao. We strolled through unique galleries featuring paintings and glass creations, as well as shops selling cowboy products. We stopped by Kula Lodge and bought a lot of souvenirs like jam and coconut candy. There was a wide variety of jams, and we got to taste several of them. They also had tea and herbal products, creating a lovely, soothing atmosphere.

As we passed through a eucalyptus-scented forest, the scenery changed with the increasing altitude. While listening to stories about the flora and fauna of Haleakalā and the spirits, we arrived near the summit just before evening. We enjoyed a 360-degree view from the height of 3,055 meters until sunset. Through the telescope, we could see the Subaru Telescope on the Big Island's Kīlauea. The sunset sinking into the sea of clouds was majestic, and the changes in the sky after sunset were beautiful as well. We were even able to see the Earth's shadow reflected in the sky.

After a restroom break and enjoying a warm Japanese bento, the stargazing began. Looking up at the night sky, it was filled with stars that twinkled quietly rather than sparkling. It made me realize just how many stars surround the Earth. I felt that this night sky was a special encounter made possible by being at such a high altitude. While watching the celestial planetarium, Yamauchi-san's explanations about stars and constellations were easy to understand, and I felt the mysteries of the universe.

It was probably lucky that it was just the two of us participating before Golden Week, but there were additional joys beyond Haleakalā, and Yamauchi-san's stories touched my heart. I didn't feel much cold thanks to my outfit of tights under my jeans and a hot pack around my waist.

ラハイナの街を通りながら、お勧めのレストランやギャラリーを教えていただきました。
クリスピードーナツのお店でティータイム後、マカワオの街へ。絵画やガラス創作の個性的ギャラリー、カウボーイ製品の店など散策しました。
クラロッジに立ち寄り、お土産のジャムやココナッツキャンディーをたくさん買いました。ジャムの種類は豊富で、いろいろ味見させていただき、紅茶やハーブ製品もあり・・癒される雰囲気が素敵でした。
ユーカリの爽やかな香りがする林を通り抜けて、高度が増すごとに、周囲の風景も変わってきます。ハレアカラの動植物や聖霊の話を聞きながら、夕刻前には頂上付近に到着しました。
サンセットまで、ハレアカラ高度３０５５ｍからの風景を３６０度眺めました。
望遠鏡からは、ハワイ島キラウエアのスバル展望台も。雲海に沈む夕陽は荘厳で、サンセット後の空雲の変化も美しいものでした。空に映る地球の影（アースシャドウ）も見ることができました。
トイレ休憩、温かい日本食弁当を食べた後、スターゲイジングの始まりです。
見上げた夜空は、キラキラ星というよりも、静かに瞬いている夜空いっぱいの星々でした。
地球の周りには、こんなにもいっぱいの星があるのですね。３千メートル級の高度だかこそ出遭えた夜空だと感じました。天体プラネタリウムを観ながらの、山内さんの星や星座のお話はわかりやすく、宇宙の神秘を感じました。

ゴールデンウィーク前で、夫婦二人の参加というのもラッキーだったのでしょうが・・ハレアカラ＋αの楽しみがあり、山内さんのお話も心に染みました。
ジーンズ下にタイツ・腰にホッカイロの装備で、寒さはあまり感じませんでした。
