It was the most difficult activity to book in Hawaii. There are several sandbar plans offered by multiple companies, so I recommend making reservations early. At the sandbar, I enjoyed taking photos and snorkeling, but the plan I chose felt a bit short (about 30 minutes, I think), and the kids seemed to want to play a little longer.

I thought it would be good to plan accordingly, enjoying marine sports like snorkeling at Hanauma Bay and participating at the sandbar mainly for taking photos at this uniquely beautiful spot. The staff were friendly, and there were Japanese speakers, so I felt completely at ease without any language barriers.

It required careful consideration on how to spend the limited days in Hawaii, whether to enjoy the beautiful scenery or prioritize the kids' fun. I felt I could have planned a bit better. However, I think I was able to take many great photos. I say "think" because I used a film camera instead of a digital one. At the sandbar, I recommend using a disposable waterproof camera instead of a digital one, as there's no worry about it getting submerged.

でも、たくさんよい写真が取れたと思います。思いますというのはデジカメではなく、フィルムカメラで撮影したためです。
サンドバーでは、デジカメよりも使い捨ての防水カメラの方が水没させる心配もないのでお勧めします。

Swimming with sea turtles in the crystal-clear sea was the best! We were able to see three sea turtles. Having a Japanese guide made it easy to enjoy ourselves on Maui, even though Japanese is not widely understood there. After all, since it’s a tour where you entrust your life, it would have been really anxiety-inducing if there was a language barrier. However, there were some people feeling a bit queasy from seasickness, so it might not be enjoyable for those who are prone to it.

It was late March, but it was cold.
Aside from our group, there were couples and families of foreign tourists. (I always wonder why they are so resilient to the cold...)
It was too cold to swim much.
However, dolphins came very close to our small cruiser, and they were so cute. We were able to take pictures.
For lunch, we had grilled hamburgers on the boat. They were delicious.
Since we went with about 20 people, it might feel lonely to join alone if you don't speak English.

We departed from the bay near the Sheraton. We went to the meeting place by rental car. The weather was very nice, and the sea was beautiful. Our family was the only Japanese group, but there were many participants, and it was full. There were many families participating. We participated as a family of four, and the sandbar was beautifully exposed, making it absolutely stunning. There weren't many fish while snorkeling, but we were able to spot about ten sea turtles from the boat, which made the kids very happy. On the way back, it was a bit cold due to the strong wind, but I definitely want to go back to that beautiful paradise of a sea again.

A small girl about four years old also joined us on the boat, but she sat on the box in the middle, so there was no worry of falling into the sea due to the swaying, and she seemed to have a great time.

Below are some simple details and points that are useful to know in advance. Don't worry about the conversation being in English! Even just stringing words together will get your point across.

■ About reconfirmation
You need to reconfirm your reservation with Captain Zodiac by the day before. I’m not confident in my English, but I just said, "I have a reservation for tomorrow under the name ○○," and that was fine. They are used to it, so no worries!

■ About snorkeling

We absolutely loved our day on the Hula Kai! Before we even left the harbour we saw a monk seal and spinner dolphins. A few minutes out, we came upon a pod of pilot whales then a few minutes later, another. The snorkel locations were wonderful, the crew great. We've been to the island several times and this was definitely the best snorkel/scuba experience we've had!

I attended this snorkeling activity with my boyfriend (he had done it before and wanted to go again). Our tour guide on the bus was hysterical. So much fun and information was provided by him. I liked that he remained part of the experience by coming on the boat with us. The staffing was incredible as well. Tons of fun and very helpful. I was glad that they provided lunch as well. Quick and easy burgers, some fruit, sodas, etc. And of course, the snorkeling was beautiful! I would recommend it to anyone, of any age. If you can't swim, or haven't snorkeled, don't worry! They provide easy instructions to learn how to snorkel quickly, and they have both noodles and lifevests if you can't swim! You may even luck out and sight some sea turtles on your way to the reef!!! If you're considering this activity, go for it! You'll love it!

I recently participated in this tour. I had joined snorkeling tours several times before, so I was quite torn between choosing a budget tour with just transportation or signing up for this one, but I made the right choice by participating! My family of three had a great time. We were guided to a sea turtle spot and were able to see them perfectly. Of course, we also saw plenty of fish!

There were divers below us, so it seems they took us quite far out. We chose the morning course, but by the time we returned, there was a long line at the entrance of Hanauma Bay (the line extended outside the parking lot). It seems that with this tour, you can enter without waiting in line, so I especially recommend it for those planning to join in the afternoon.

We were blessed with the best weather, and it was said that the sandbar was quite shallow that day, which was lucky. We participated via Alan, and Captain Bruce took us to the best spot in the heavenly sea where we could swim with sea turtles. We had the time of our lives! We were on our honeymoon and I had no experience, my husband had very little. The crew members made this so enjoyable. They called all of us by our names, they made sure we were having fun and comfortable. They took the time to explain everything to us and answer any questions. The experience was amazing, the fish and coral were spectacualar. We even saw a reef shark! Exciting! We always felt safe and had a blast. Anne didn't give up on me when I had a hard time getting used to snuba diving, quickly she had me down enjoying the adventure. They were so funny and everyone had a great time. The captain was so funny and helpful. Do yourself a favor, enjoy this adventure and use this crew...they were amazing!

This was our first snorkeling experience. We didn't go underneath the water, just stayed swimming on top, which was fine with me. The fish were beautiful. The coral reefs are amazing and really a beautiful sight to see. We didn't get to see any sea turtles, but the schools of fish were so great. Our guide held my hand the entire time, and he was really cautious and concerned about the safety to the group. He made my husband and I feel really comfortable our first time snorkeling. Definitely the best and most beautiful place to snorkel in Hawaii.

I participated in a secret sandbar exploration and snorkeling tour. Although the day I joined had a bit more clouds and strong winds, I didn't mind the boat's rocking at all. I can't forget the sight of a sea turtle popping its head out of the water. In the coral sea, I encountered many fish, and at the sandbar, not only was the beauty stunning, but I also felt a true sense of oneness with nature, being right in the middle of the ocean with my family. When we went, the white sandy beach didn't appear (＞＜) It was about knee-deep... But standing in the middle of the sea felt quite strange.

Also, since we always travel as a couple, my husband was our photographer, so we had fewer photos of the two of us. However, the staff were very skilled at taking pictures and taught us various poses, so we ended up with a lot of great photos!! We even used one for our New Year's card!!

It seemed that the sandbar was an island in the morning, but by the time we arrived, the tide was only up to our ankles. For those who are particular about landing on the island, it might be a good idea to check the tide levels before going. I recommend searching for tide level websites using keywords like "Oahu tide."

At the sandbar, you can enjoy activities like playing volleyball or practicing snorkeling at your leisure. My husband, who can't swim, seemed to gain confidence practicing snorkeling there. While we were having fun, the staff called out to each group, saying, "I'll take your picture!"

At the sea turtle point, dozens of turtles showed their faces. The cheeseburger we had on the boat was the best. Next time, I definitely want to participate again, aiming for low tide.

サンドバーではバレーボールやシュノーケリングの練習など、好きに過ごすことが出来ます。
泳げない主人はここでシュノーケリングの練習をして自信をつけたようです。
遊んでいるときに、スタッフさんが「写真をとってあげるよ~」とそれぞれのグループに声を掛けていました。
海ガメポイントでは、何十匹ものカメが顔を見せてくれました。
船上で食べるチーズバーガーは最高です。
今度は干潮の時間帯を狙ってぜひまた参加したいです。

I participated with my husband. There were about 15 participants in the tour, and we were the only Japanese guests. The guide was kind, but everything was in English, so I think I only understood about 20% since I can only speak basic English.

To give you a clearer image, we sat on the edge of a rubber boat with an engine, holding on only to a rope. The boat took us out to sea at quite a speed, swaying a lot, which was quite thrilling. I heard that some people have even fallen into the sea before.

Along the way, we encountered a pod of dolphins several times. We went to Kealakekua Bay and enjoyed snorkeling. The seawater was a bit cold, but it was very clear, and we saw a lot of fish, making for a very satisfying snorkeling experience. During a break from snorkeling, we had lunch on the board, including sandwiches. On the way back, we viewed the lava caves from the sea side. I had thought we would go inside the lava caves, so I was a bit disappointed.

Overall, I was satisfied, but you really need to hold on tightly to the boat's rope at all times, or you might get thrown off, so I wouldn't recommend it for small children or elderly people.

Also, sunscreen is absolutely necessary. In my case, I applied it well on my body and had makeup on my face, but I think I got burned while snorkeling. I didn't apply any on my head, but the part in my hair turned bright red and was quite painful. I recommend that anyone with a part in their hair apply sunscreen to their scalp as well.

ガイドさんは親切なのですが全て英語なので、中学英語しかできない私は2割くらいしか理解できてないと思います。

イメージがつきやすく説明すると、エンジンの着いたゴムボードのふちに腰掛け、つかまるところはロープのみ。ボートはそんな不安定な私達を乗せて沖にけっこうなスピードでかなり揺れながら進みます。迫力満点です。今まで海に振り落とされた方もいらしたそうです。

途中、イルカの群れとの遭遇も何度かありました。
ケアラケクア湾まで行き、シュノーケルを楽しみます。
海水はやや冷たかったですが、水はとてもきれいで魚もたくさん見れ大満足なシュノーケルです。
シュノーケルの休憩中にサンドイッチなどのランチをボード上で頂きます。
帰りに溶岩洞窟を海側から眺めて戻ります。
溶岩洞窟の中に入るものだとばかり思っていたので、これはちょっと拍子抜けでした。

全体的には満足ですが、ボートのロープに常時しっかりとつかまってないと振り落とされそうですから、小さなお子さんやお年を召した方にはあまりオススメできないです。

それから、日焼け止めクリームは必ず必要です。
私の場合、体はしっかり塗り、顔はしっかりメイクをしていたのですが、シュノーケルをして落ちたのでしょうか、顔は焼けてしまいました。頭にはぬっていなかったのですが、髪の分け目は真っ赤になり、かなり痛かったです。髪に分け目がある方は、分け目の部分の頭皮にも日焼け止めクリームを塗ることをお勧めします。

I took my 85 year old mother who has some physical limitations, my 73 year old husband, and my self (62) on the midday (no meal) cruise and snorkeling adventure. It was heavenly! The staff gave a general, easy to understand lesson to all. When my mother got down the stairs she decided she did not want to go. The staff people told me to go ahead that they would take care of her. A few minutes later she was out viewing the reef with a tube and a box. My husband did the same. I was able to relax and enjoy without worries. Thank you so much for one of the most pleasurable things I have done!

Excellent. To start, we went out on the Sea Smoke, little did we know, this was owned by James Arness (Gun Smoke TV show) and he raced this from LA to Hawaii and beat the pack by 2-days… So we were sailing on a piece of history.
Crew was awesome and extremely hospitable. Equipment was very good; food and beverages were high quality and fresh.
We arrived at the dive spot and it was amazing, sea turtles to say the least. The black sand beach was amazing and really different than the typical white sugar sand that most beaches are made of.
I would recommend this to all skill levels and all ages.
On the way back they sent up the sails and turned the engine off, we enjoyed the speed and stability that 60’ catamarans are famous for.
If you have a chance, don't miss this opportunity to view the Big Island and its beautiful coastline from the ocean… Well worth the 4-hour snorkel adventure and very convenient to find as this is anchored at the Waikoloa Marriot.

The Na Pali Coast is definitely best viewed from the sea and the sky. My husband and I highly recommend this tour, which allows you to experience this dynamic scenery up close. You can see wild dolphins swimming alongside the boat and catch glimpses of the leisurely honu (sea turtles). Since it's not easy to get close to Niihau Island, this plan allows you to learn about its history through announcements during the tour. Of course, there’s plenty of time for snorkeling, and you can swim freely at beautiful coral spots. The tour includes floats, fins, and masks, so you can participate with just your swimsuit (a windbreaker and long-sleeved swimsuit are also recommended if you have them).

The boat is large, new, and comfortable, but it does speed up quite a bit on the way there and back, so it's wise to be cautious of seasickness. It can be quite bumpy (though it might have just been the sea conditions on the day we participated). Even if you think you won't get seasick, please bring seasickness medication just in case.

I recommend standing on the deck to enjoy the dynamic and beautiful scenery rather than staying inside the boat, so having a windbreaker is very helpful. I participated on the morning of July 14th. A stunning sandbar appeared in the midst of a deep blue sky, pure white clouds, and the ever-changing blue ocean! It was a beautiful scene unlike anything I had ever seen before, making me question whether it was a dream or reality. It was a miraculous landscape created over many years. I was thrilled to see the honu (sea turtles) up close and had an amazing time. The malasadas were also very delicious.

I saw a manta ray for the first time! It's huge! I'm so moved.
I'm excited!
I recommend a video camera that can shoot underwater or a digital camera that can record videos.
I participated with a snorkel, but when divers are directly below, the bubbles from their air rise up and make it almost impossible to see. If you use a flash, it reflects off the tiny bubbles and you can't capture the manta... If you shoot video, you can get some amazing footage of the manta doing flips!!!
I read on Alan1.net that you can rent wetsuits, but I didn't see anyone actually borrowing them, and the staff didn't seem to be actively looking for people who wanted to rent them. Another Japanese couple ended up not renting one and looked a bit anxious. I think it's quite cold in the water for slim people. I was shivering from the cold after getting out (we participated at the end of June). A large bath towel and thick sweatshirt are essential. Also, although I don't think it will happen, there were about 30 people on the boat, and luggage was placed carelessly, so it's safer not to bring valuables as much as possible.
I definitely recommend this for anyone who loves aquariums!!

水族館が好きな人には絶対おすすめです！！

I went last week!

It was a tour that I was completely satisfied with. On the day we participated, my group was the only one made up of Japanese people. Most of the other guests were from the mainland United States. There were mostly couples, families, and groups participating.

We received safety instructions for snorkeling, but we were given a paper written in Japanese, so I think even those who are worried about the language can participate with peace of mind. Also, the staff and the surrounding guests all had a friendly atmosphere, so even if you don't speak English well, you can communicate with simple words and have a good time.

I think it's okay for those who are not confident in swimming to participate. On this tour, there were people enjoying themselves while floating on inflatable rings.

I recommend this tour for the morning since the waves are calmer then. Even in the morning tour, the waves do get a bit higher in the latter half.

It was a very enjoyable tour, but I got seasick on the way back. It takes nearly 30 minutes from the snorkeling point to the port, so you might feel nauseous. I recommend bringing motion sickness medication. Even if you don't have any, if you tell the staff, they will make ginger ale to help alleviate the nausea.

For snorkeling, I was lent a prescription snorkeling set. It's recommended for those who wear glasses.

もし、酔い止めをもっていなくとも、スタッフに伝えれば、酔い止めを緩和するジンジャーエールを作ってくれます。

I initially booked this event for my ten- and seven-year-old grandkids. However, it turned out to be a terrific day for all three generations. The friendly crew of the Barefoot I made us feel welcome from the time we arrived at the dock. It was a very windy day, but, the catamaran was steady. The energetic, enthusiastic and entertaining crew covered the basics of snorkeling and equipment during our ten-minute cruise to the submerged sandbar in the middle of beautiful Kaneohe Bay. The sandbar stop was the perfect opportunity for first time snorkelers to practice in a comfortable environment and the waist-deep volleyball was a real hoot! The crew grilled our burgers and served lunch at the sandbar. Much to our surprise and delight our cruise director, Jenner, serenaded us with voice and guitar while we ate. During the ten minute sail to the snorkel site we saw a dozen or so green sea turtles. The beautiful coral reef was in a very isolated area in crystal clear waters. The area was teem
