It was very sunny on the day, and I think we were lucky. Our driver and guide, Jin, was knowledgeable about Hawaii and the stars, providing various explanations. He was also well-versed in photography and taught us how to capture the stars. He took proactive steps, allowing us to have the best position for sunset and stargazing.

当日はとても晴れていて、ラッキーだったと思います。
ドライバー兼ガイドのジンさんも、ハワイ、星に詳しくいろいろと説明していただきました。また、カメラにも詳しく、星のとり方も教えていただきました。
行動も一歩早い行動を取ってくれたので、ベストなポジションでの、サンセット、星空観察ができました。

Honestly, before going, I was worried about altitude sickness and hesitated. But I'm glad I went! They gave me advice on how to prevent altitude sickness (all of which were simple and easy to do), so I was able to participate with peace of mind. They also lend you warm clothing, but the perceived temperature can change depending on whether it's windy or not. Please be especially careful about your feet, as the wind can get in there.

正直、行く前は高山病とか心配して迷っていました。でも、行ってよかったです！高山病対策をアドバイスしてくれたり(どれも簡単で誰でもできることばかりです)で、安心して参加できました。防寒具も上下貸してくれますが、風があるかどうかで体感温度が変わります。特に足元は風が吹き込むので注意してくださいね。

Following the last time, I couldn't see the sunset among the clouds again this time. As for the starry sky, thanks to the staff's quick thinking, we were able to observe it a little at Mauna Kea Park, but the surrounding lights were a bit distracting.

I was able to experience something that was on my dream list this time! I participated with friends, and the personality of our guide Masa and his sense of photography really boosted the tour's energy to the max!

In a separate group, we met our guide Shin at the Onizuka Center, and his explanations during the star tour were exceptional! He created an unexpected situation where we could actually see the rings of Saturn through a telescope, and I am just so grateful for that!

I heard that we can also visit the Subaru Telescope in Japan, so next time, I want to go inside the Subaru!

It was amazing! Thank you, Masa and Shin!

I dressed quite warmly, but it was still cold. I definitely think you need hand warmers, a knit hat, and gloves! The sunset was a bit crowded with other tourists, but I was really glad to learn about places like the Subaru Observatory. During the stargazing, they even helped me with the settings on my camera, allowing me to take beautiful photos with my own camera. They also introduced the constellations, which was really fun. There was an overwhelming sense of emotion that words can't fully express. I want to do it again!

かなり防寒して行きましたがそれでも寒かったです。必ずカイロやニット帽、手袋は必要だと思います！
サンセットは他の観光客？の方々も結構いたので少し混雑していましたが、スバルの展望台なども教えて貰えてとてもよかったです！
星空観測では持参したカメラの設定まで教えていただけて、自分のカメラでも綺麗に撮影することができました。
星座の紹介などもしてもらえてすごくたのしかったです。
言葉では伝えきれない程の感動がありました。

I signed up because I wanted to experience the majestic nature of the Big Island of Hawaii. Since it was a tour in nature, I thought it couldn't be helped if the weather was bad, but luckily, I was able to see a beautiful sunset and starry sky. The tour guide was very kind, and they took many commemorative photos, making it a wonderful memory of my trip.

My anxiety about heights turned out to be unfounded. 高所への不安も杞憂に終わりました

During our break at the park and dinner at the Onizuka Center, we gradually acclimated to the high altitude without any issues. A foreign family who drove up in their private car outside of the tour was suffering from altitude sickness at the viewpoint parking lot near the summit, so having an experienced guide was greatly appreciated. They took many great photos with a good camera, and you can't capture the starry sky with a smartphone!

On the way back, despite some tire trouble with the car, we were able to transfer to another vehicle from the same company and ultimately returned to the hotel earlier than expected. The response to everything was appropriate and wonderful.

As someone who was in the astronomy club in high school, this was a long-held dream of mine for good stargazing. I wished I could have stayed until morning.

途中の公園での休憩、オニヅカセンターでの夕食と順を追って高地に順応して行くので、まったく問題はありませんでした。ツアー外で自家用車で上って来た外人親子は、山頂付近の展望台駐車場で高山病に苦しんでいましたので、経験あるガイドのサポートがありがたかったです。良いカメラで写真もたくさん撮って頂きましたし、スマホでは星空は撮れない！
帰途は車のタイヤ不調も、同じ会社の別の車に一部が移動して、結局、早くホテルに戻ることが出来ました。何から何まで適切な素晴らしい対応でした。
高校時代は天文部だった私にとっては、宿願だった良好な天体観測でした。朝まで居たかったくらいです。

The day before, I received a message in my hotel room from the tour coordinator asking, "Have you confirmed the email about the change in the meeting place for the tour?" I hadn't seen the email, so this message was very helpful.

Since it was a sunset and stargazing tour, we departed in the afternoon. On the way to the summit, we took a break for about an hour at the Onizuka Visitor Center to prevent altitude sickness, where we were served lunch. We had a Japanese makunouchi bento! It came with miso soup!! (The contents may vary by day...) There was quite a bit of food, so if you're a light eater, you might want to have a light lunch beforehand. During this break, you can change your clothes, so I don't think you need to dress too warmly from the start. By the way, as someone who gets cold easily, I participated in a polo shirt and skinny pants, and added a Heattech shirt, tights, winter socks, and a lightweight jumper here. I wore the ski wear I borrowed over that as we headed to the summit. I prepared disposable hand warmers, but I didn't end up using them.

As my husband and I got closer to the summit, we started to feel a bit of a headache. We focused on exhaling all the air from our lungs and taking deep breaths to fill them with fresh air... repeating this several times. (The guide would remind us of the deep breathing techniques along the way!) Thanks to this, our headaches didn't get too severe.

When we finally reached the summit, my first thought was, "My body feels heavy!" I couldn't really enjoy myself (≧▽≦). But encouraged by the guide, I jumped while straddling a broom!!! They took some photos that made it look like I was flying in the sky♪ I asked for one more photo of me looking like I was about to fall off the broom, but it was tough to jump with my heavy body...

And then it was time for the sunset... The sun sinking into the sea of clouds was something I could have watched forever.

We viewed the starry sky a bit lower down (around 3,800 meters). (We had to descend from the summit 30 minutes after sunset.) The guide used a laser pointer to explain the names of the stars and the origins of the constellations while we observed. They set up a telescope and showed us the rings of Saturn! (It was quite moving!!) As it got darker, the stars began to overflow. I thought, "Maybe clouds are coming in..." but it turned out to be all stars!!! I ended up lying down to look at them since my neck started to hurt from looking up too much (≧▽≦).

The guide took quite a few photos of both the sunset and the starry sky! There were many pictures that would have been impossible for our camera to capture, making for wonderful memories.

At the restroom break on the way back, we saw other tour participants (probably from a stargazing tour on the mountainside) receiving explanations, but the view of the stars was completely different! Even the mountainside tour looked beautiful compared to Japan, but seeing it from the summit...

This time, we were blessed with good weather, and it turned out to be a truly enjoyable and wonderful tour. I want to go see that starry sky again!

前日にツアーの担当者から「ツアーの集合場所変更のメール、確認していただけましたか？」とホテルの部屋に連絡がありました。
メールを見ていなかったのでこの連絡はとても助かりました。

サンセット＆星空観測のツアーだったので、午後出発です。
山頂に行く途中、高山病予防も兼ねてオニヅカビジターセンターで1時間ほど休憩が入り、そこでお弁当が出ます。
私たちがいただいたのは日本の幕の内弁当！お味噌汁付き！！（日によって内容は変わるようですが・・・）
結構な量があるので、小食の方はお昼控えめにした方がいいかと^^;
この休憩中に着替えができるので、最初から厚着をしていく必要はないと思います。
因みに、寒がりの私はポロシャツとスキニーパンツで参加し、ここでヒートテックシャツ、タイツ、冬用靴下、薄手のジャンパーを追加着用しました。
借りたスキーウェアの上下をその上に着用して山頂に向かいます。
使い捨てカイロは用意しましたが、使いませんでした。

私たち夫婦は山頂に近づくにつれ、少しずつ頭が痛くなってきました。
肺の空気を出し切って、新しい空気を肺いっぱいに吸い込む・・・を意識しながら深呼吸を何度も繰り返します。（深呼吸方法など、ガイドさんが随時声をかけてくださいます！）
このおかげか頭痛もそれほどひどくはなりませんでした。

山頂に降り立ってまず思ったのが「身体が重い！」でした。
はしゃげません(≧▽≦)
でもガイドさんに促されるままほうきにまたがってジャンプ！！！
空を飛んでいるような写真を撮ってくださいました♪
お願いしてもう一枚、ほうきから落ちそうバージョンも撮ってもらったのですが、さすがに身体が重くてジャンプが辛い・・・

そんなこんなでサンセットの時間・・・雲海に沈んでいく太陽はいつまでも見ていたいと思うくらい。

星空は少し下がったところ（3800ｍ付近）でみました。（サンセット後30分で山頂から下りないといけないそうです）
ガイドさんがレーザーポイントで星の名前や星座の由来、いろいろ説明しながらの観察です。
望遠鏡を設置して、土星の輪も見せていただきました！（ちょっと感動！！）
辺りが暗くなるにつれ、星がどんどんあふれてきます。
「雲がでてきたのかなぁ・・・」と思っていたら全部星だった！！！なんていう感じです。
（上を見上げすぎて首が痛くなってきたので、最後は寝そべってみていました(≧▽≦)）

写真はサンセット、星空ともガイドさんが結構撮ってくれていました！
私たちのカメラでは絶対に無理であろう写真がいっぱいで、とってもいい記念になりました。

帰りのトイレ休憩の場所では他のツアーの方（おそらく山腹での星空観測ツアー）が説明を受けていらっしゃいましたが、星の見え方は全然違います！
日本に比べると山腹ツアーでも十分綺麗に輝いて見えるのですが、山頂付近で見てしまうと。。。。。

今回は天気にも恵まれ、ほんとに楽しい素敵なツアーになりました。
またあの星空を見に行きたいと思います！

The stargazing on Maui was great, so I signed up for this tour. They provide down jackets and gloves, but it's essential to have fleece and tights since it gets cold at the summit. The departure is leisurely in the afternoon, allowing for golf or shopping in the morning, making good use of your time. We eat lunch along the way, but since the location is shared with other tours, the restroom can get crowded. The contents of the lunch vary by tour, but this one included warm miso soup and hot cocoa. The sunset and stargazing were wonderful, different from what I saw on Maui. The Milky Way was clearly visible to the naked eye and felt very close. I learned a lot about the constellations. However, you have to stand and look for quite a while, so it might be a bit tiring for older adults. The stargazing tour on Maui was cheaper, but they provided simple chairs and blankets.

マウイ島での星空観測が良かったので、こちらのツアーに申し込みました。
ダウンや手袋は貸していただけますが山頂は寒いのでフリースやタイツは必須です。出発は午後ゆっくりなので午前中ゴルフや買い物ができて時間が有効に使えます。途中お弁当を食べますが他のツアーとも場所が一緒なのでトイレは混雑します。お弁当の内容もツアーによりそれぞれですがこちらは暖かい味噌汁やホットココアが付いてました♪　サンセット、星空観測はマウイ島から見たのとはまた違って素晴らしかったです。天の川が肉眼でもはっきりとしかも近くに感じました。星座の話も勉強になりました。ただ立ったままかなりの時間眺めなくてはいけないので中高年以上の方はちょっと疲れます。
マウイ島の星空観測ツアーの方が安かったですが、簡易イスや毛布も用意されてました。

The tour guide was very friendly and nice, and I had a great time. If I have the opportunity to request again from Masashi Nature School, I would love to meet him again! I was able to learn a lot about the photo spots and the natural flora. The sunset at the summit of Mauna Kea was incredibly beautiful, and during the stargazing, I got to see Saturn through the telescope that the guide brought, clearly seeing the rings for the first time, which was moving. I also enjoyed seeing the Milky Way beautifully and had a great time with the explanations of the constellations, which allowed me to wrap up my last day in a wonderful atmosphere.

ツアーガイドさんがとても気さくでいい方でとても楽しむことができました。

It was disappointing that the participants in another car were noisy. They were getting excited and loud during sunset, but I wanted to quietly appreciate the beauty of nature and feel the sunset, so it was just bothersome to me. Their excited voices ended up in the video, and I had to edit them out.

I think a single word from the guide could change the participants' consideration. That's why I lowered my rating by one star.

Our guide, Shin, was excellent in explaining safety, the significance of the area as a sacred place for the indigenous people, and the stars. We were fortunate with the weather, and the scenery was amazing. I believe it's a sacred place worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. Thank you!

Two days ago, there was a road closure above the Onizuka Visitor Center due to snow at the summit of Mauna Kea, which made me a bit anxious, but the tour went ahead without any issues. The driver was surprisingly quiet. I wondered if he was in a bad mood, but after about an hour of driving, we arrived at the Onizuka Visitor Center. We had a bento lunch with warm miso soup. There were also warm coffee, tea, and even cocoa prepared for us. This was the time for altitude acclimatization. We bought souvenirs and took photos. From there, we drove on a rough road close to the summit. I didn't feel sick at all. The driver kept teaching us how to breathe properly. He even stopped the car at a spot with remaining snow for a photo opportunity. He took our pictures with the Subaru Telescope in the background during sunset. After that, we descended to around 3000 meters. There were two teams from the same tour company for stargazing, intentionally on a full moon night. It was too bright, so there were fewer stars, but we were able to observe Saturn and the moon. Our driver seemed like a technician and took photos of us with the starry sky as the backdrop. Those photos can be downloaded for free after returning to Japan. Just remember, it’s really cold, so dress warmly. They provide warm shoes, socks, and outerwear, which is great. I wore Heattech. As for the restroom, there is a simple toilet at the summit, but it seems to be quite a challenge to use it while wearing winter clothing. It didn't seem dirty, though. It takes about four hours from leaving the visitor center to the next restroom break. The simple toilet is about two hours in, roughly halfway. Just for your reference.

前々日、マウナケア山頂積雪の為、オニヅカビジターセンターより上の通行止めの情報があり、ドキドキしていましたが、無事に催行。ドライバーさん　以外に無口。機嫌悪いのかな？と一時間余りドライブしてオニヅカビジターセンターに到着。そしてお弁当。暖かいお味噌汁付き。暖かいコヒー、紅茶にココアまで用意されていました。この場所で高度順応の時間。お土産を購入したり、写真を撮ったり。そこから頂上付近まで悪路ドライブ。気分が悪くなるなんて無かったです。ドライバーさんが、ずっと呼吸の仕方を伝授してくれます。残雪が残っている所でわざわざ車を停めて撮影タイム。ドライバーさんもシャッターを押してくださいました。スバル天文台をバックにサンセット。そこから3000メーター辺りまで下って。同じツアー会社2チームでの星空観察。敢えて、満月の夜。明るすぎて　星は少なかったけど、土星や月の観測ができました。うちのドライバーさんは技術屋さんみたいで、星空をバックに写真も撮ってくれました。それらの写真は日本に帰ってから無料でダウンロードできますよ。ただ、ともかく寒いから暖かくしてくださいね。特に靴、靴下　防寒着の上下は貸してくれて暖かいですが。私はヒートテックで行きました。それと、トイレですが頂上に簡易トイレは有りますが、防寒着を着たままようを足すのも一苦労みたいです。汚くは無かったみたいです。ビジターセンターを出発してから次のトイレ休憩まで4時間くらいかかります。簡易トイレは丁度、2時間、中間くらいです。参考までに。

I participated on November 25, 2018.
Everything went according to schedule, and it was great to arrive at the hotel two hours early.
The guide provided explanations about the scenery along the way, creating a friendly atmosphere in the vehicle.
We were blessed with good weather, and the sunset was magnificent.
I was worried about altitude sickness, but I was able to enjoy the trip without any issues.
The stargazing just below the summit had perfect conditions, and I saw more stars than ever in my life. The explanations about constellations using the laser pointer were also accurate and fantastic!

2018年11月25日に参加しました。
全ての予定が時間通りに進みました、帰りのホテルに到着が2時間早く着いた事は良かったです。
ガイドの方の道中の景色の説明で車内も和気あいあいな雰囲気の中過ごせました。
天候に恵まれてサンセットも素晴らしかったです。
心配していた高山病もかかることなく過ごせました。
山頂から少し下ったところでの星空観測も最高の条件が重なり、人生最大の数多くの星が見れたし、レザーポイントを使っての星座などの解説も的確で最高でした！

☆Incredible view☆ If you go to the Big Island of Hawaii, you absolutely must visit! ☆超絶景☆ハワイ島に行ったら、絶対行くべき！

Advance reservations are essential due to the popularity of the tour. The weather on the day is truly left to chance. On the day of participation, which was three days after the full moon, we were able to see an incredibly beautiful starry sky since the stargazing time was before the moon rose! They also provide explanations of constellations with a laser pointer (the impressive kind). It's like a real planetarium. You can also take photos (available for free download later), so there's more to enjoy after the tour. The sunset is also perfect! The sunset over the sea of clouds is a must-see. The summit of Mauna Kea is quite cold. They can lend you warm clothing, but I recommend bringing something like a sweatshirt that you can easily put on.

Our guide, Masa, was kind and very attentive! Generally, the guides are Japanese (though there may be some from other countries). It feels a bit awkward to give a tip, but since we are in Hawaii, I recommend giving a little something during the hotel transfer. Just for your reference.

人気ツアーの為、事前予約必須。当日の天候は、本当に運任せ。汗。参加日は、満月の3日後でしたが、星空観測の時間が月の登る前であった為、めちゃくちゃキレイな星空が観れました！レーザーポインター(すごいやつ)で星座の説明もしてくれます。リアルプラネタリウムです。写真撮影(後日、無料ダウンロード可)もしていただけるので、ツアー後にも楽しみがあります。サンセットもバッチリ！雲海に沈む夕陽は、必見です。マウナケア山頂は、ふつーに寒いです。防寒着を貸していただけますが、サクッと着れるスウェット等の持参をオススメします。
ガイドのマサさんは、親切丁寧で非常に良かったです！基本的には、ガイドさんは日本人(外国籍の方もいる)の方になるかと思います。チップをお渡しするのに違和感がありますが、ハワイであることは間違いないので、ホテルへの送迎時に気持ちをお渡しすることをオススメします。ご参考までに。

The sunset and starry sky were, of course, wonderful, but the explanations from our guide Masa were easy to understand and very knowledgeable! It was informative to hear about the history and stars.

They provide winter clothing, lunch boxes, and drinks, so you can participate easily, which I highly recommend!

The best part is that you can download the photos taken by the guide with a DSLR for free! The pictures with the starry sky background are perfect.

The price might be high, but the experience was worth it.

夕日、星空がすばらしいのはもちろんですが、ガイドのマサさんの説明がわかりやすく、また博識でした！歴史や星の説明を聞けるので、ためになりました。
防寒具、お弁当、飲み物の用意があるので、気軽に参加できますので、おすすめです！

Since I joined the tour in November, I was able to participate even though it had snowed the day before and the mountain gate was closed until just before the tour started. I was thrilled that the tour guide was the famous Big Jin. We joined from Kona and stopped at a scenic overlook on the way to Waikoloa to take some photos. On Saddle Road, we also had a little time to enjoy a spot where we could take pictures with the lava, in addition to Mauna Kea and the starry sky. I was worried about altitude sickness, but thanks to the professional guide's instructions and advice, everyone was fine. The tour itself had two vehicles, but Jin's proactive actions and experience meant we always arrived earlier than the other vehicle, allowing us more time and better timing for bathroom breaks. Although there were many clouds on the day, and it was disappointing not to see the sunset or the starry sky from the highest point, the tour itself was incredibly rich and provided a great experience.

11月に入ってからの参加でしたので当日もツアー開始時間ぎりぎり前まで前日に雪が降り山のゲートが封鎖されていたそうですが、参加することが出来ました。しかもツアーガイドが有名なビッグジンさんで感激しました。私達はコナからの参加でワイコロアまで行く途中Scenic Overlookと言う景色のいいポイントに停まって写真を撮ってくれました。サドルロードでも溶岩と写真の撮れるポイントで少し時間をくれてマウナケアや星空以外も少し楽しめました。高山病が不安でしたがプロのガイドの指示やアドバイスで全員かからなかったです。ツアー自体が2台の車だったのですがジンさんの早め早めの行動と経験で　もう1台の車より常に早く着き時間が多く取れたりトイレに行くタイミングなど気配りがとても良かったです。当日は雲が多く期待したサンセットが見れなかったり、星空ツアーが1番高い所で見れなかったのは残念でしたがツアー自体はものすごく濃く良い経験ができました。

We always ensure that there is time for altitude acclimatization at the Onizuka Center, so while we don't have many guests who suffer from altitude sickness on our tours, we do keep oxygen tanks on hand just in case, allowing everyone to participate with peace of mind.

Due to Mauna Kea's rules, we must descend within 30 minutes after sunset, but we will conduct stargazing at a parking lot above the Onizuka Center, where, if the moon phase and weather are favorable, you can enjoy a spectacular night sky.

Please do come back to Hawaii Island for a sunset revenge from the summit. We look forward to your next participation.

The weather on the day was cloudy with occasional rain. There was also information that the conditions at the summit were not good. Despite the explanation that we might have to turn back without reaching the top, the tour set off. Everyone must have felt a sense of tension and unease. By the time we took a break for lunch at a park, we were still in a state of uncertainty, but we enjoyed a long-awaited Japanese bento and miso soup, which boosted our spirits threefold. After we set off again, we were even able to see a rainbow, and the mood in the vehicle reached its peak.

In the end, we were able to reach the summit. The view was absolutely stunning, and I was very satisfied. Surprisingly, the air didn't feel as thin as I expected, and even when an older man skipped, he wasn't out of breath.

When I think of Hawaii, I usually have a strong image of the ocean, but after participating in this tour, I feel like I've learned about another side of Hawaii. We were able to gaze down at various astronomical facilities from above and witness a magnificent sunset amidst quite a chilly wind. It was also wonderful to enjoy the celestial show with explanations. I believe that such tours can be subject to the luck of the weather, and I thought that my husband and I might not be able to observe the stars since clouds were moving in from Hilo. However, thanks to our guide's extensive experience, the early movements proved to be effective. The guide had studied geography and volcanoes at university and also had a keen interest in plants, making the information shared on the bus very enjoyable to listen to. It seems that they were well-prepared for altitude sickness, as none of the participants felt unwell. I hope to join another tour at Masashi's Nature School with such a wonderful guide in the future.

私のなかでハワイというと海のイメージが強かったのですがこのツアーに参加してもうひとつのハワイを教えていただいたように思います。各国の天文施設を眼下に仰ぎ見てかなりの寒風の中、雄大な日の入りをみることができました。また解説付きで天体ショーが楽しめたのもとてもよかったです。おそらくこうしたツアーは天候による運不運があるとおもうのですが今回もヒロのほうから雲がうごいてきていたそうで私も主人も星の観測は無理かなと思っておりました。しかしガイドの方の豊富な経験のおかげで早め早めの移動が功を奏しました。ガイドの方は大学で地理や火山を勉強されたようですし、植物へのご関心もおありだったのでバスの中でのご案内も大変たのしく聴くことができました。高山病への対処法も万全であった
のか参加メンバーどなたも具合悪くなることもありませんでした。またの機会にはこうした素晴らしいガイドさんのいるマサシのネイチャースクールで参加できればと思います。

I participated in the Mauna Kea Summit Sunset & Stargazing Tour with Masashi Nature School. I was warned not to fall asleep at high altitude, but I returned safely without any issues. Thanks to the warm clothing provided, I was able to withstand the cold at the summit. The sunset and twilight at the summit were truly magnificent. We were also able to take photos of the Subaru Telescope, which was one of our goals. The gradually expanding starry sky after dusk was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Our guide provided thorough explanations, and in the end, I was fortunate enough to see the Pleiades star cluster with the naked eye. It was an incredibly moving tour.

マウナケア山頂 サンセット＆星空観測ツアー＜反射望遠鏡＞ by マサシネイチャースクールに参加しました。高地で絶対寝ないように釘を刺されましたが体調に何事も無く無事帰ってきました。貸して頂いた防寒具のおかげで山頂の寒さもしのぐことができました。山頂での日の入りと夕焼けはとても素晴らしかったです。私たちの目的だったスバル天文台も写真に撮ることが出来ました。夕暮れの後徐々に広がる星空は今までにお目にかかったことのない素晴らしさでした。ガイドの方には丁寧に説明していただき最後には幸運にもプレアデス星団を肉眼で見ることが出来ました。大変感動的なツアーでした。

I love Hawaii and have been there many times, but this was my first time at Mauna Kea. About 50 years ago, I saw Saturn's rings and Jupiter's stripes many times through a refracting telescope. About 15 years ago, I saw the same thing with eight telescopes at Ayers Rock! But seeing the starry sky with my own eyes was the happiest time. I was also able to see several satellites! ❣️

ハワイが好きで何度も来ましたがマウナケアーは初めてでした、50年くらい前に屈折望遠鏡で土星の輪、木星のしま模様何度も見ました、
15年くらい前にエアーズロックで望遠鏡8台で同じように見ました！
でも肉眼で見る満天の星空は最高に幸せな時間でした。
人工衛星もいくつも見れました❣️

On the day of the event, it rained on and off, and unfortunately, we couldn't see the sunset from the summit. It was very cold at the top, and having a neck warmer was very helpful.

During the stargazing, the rain stopped, and we were able to see the Milky Way clearly. However, it was unfortunate that there were many clouds, and the stars quickly got hidden, so the guide was very busy moving us to different locations. Thank you very much.

If there is another opportunity, I would like to request the Masashi Nature School again.

当日は雨が降ったり止んだりで、残念ながら頂上からサンセットを見ることは出来ませんでした。頂上は非常に寒く、当日ネックウォーマーを持参しとても役立ちました。
星空観測の時には雨も止み、天の川をはっきりと見ることが出来ました。ただ残念なことに雲が多く、星が直ぐに隠れてしまうので、場所を移動したりとガイドさんが大忙しでした。どうもありがとうございました。
また機会がありましたら、マサシネイチャースクールさんでお願いしたいと思います。

Due to bad weather, we couldn't see the sunset or the starry sky very well, but I was really happy that the guide worked hard to find spots and made the experience enjoyable. I want to try again next time I visit the Big Island of Hawaii.

Two years ago, I had an amazing sunset experience with a friend. I wanted my husband to experience that feeling too, so this year, we went to the Big Island of Hawaii. It's not every day you can drive up to 4,200 meters; that kind of experience is rare. I felt so close to the universe, and the starry sky was so breathtaking that I couldn't even recognize the constellations! My husband was thrilled with the wonderful experience, and I was happy to have invited him. I reaffirmed the greatness of the Big Island of Hawaii.

２年前に友人とお世話になり感動的なサンセットを見ました。
その感動を主人にも経験して欲しくて、今年、ハワイ島に行きました。
簡単に4200ｍまで車で行かれるなんてそんな体験、なかなか出来る物ではありません。
宇宙を身近に感じられ、星座が分からない位の星空に大感動～！
素晴らしい体験に主人も大喜び、誘った私も嬉しかったです。
ハワイ島の素晴らしさを再認識しました。

It was raining at the Onizuka Visitor Center, but thanks to MASA's energy, by the time we reached the summit, the rain had stopped. We were able to take photos that made it look like we were flying in the sky with a broom against the backdrop of the sunset. The stargazing afterward was challenging due to the clouds, and we desperately searched for a spot where we could see the stars, ultimately finding the best position for stargazing that night. ISHIKAWA's explanations of the constellations were clear and very enjoyable. I want to go again during the new moon in June.

オニヅカビジターセンターでは雨でしたが、MASAさんのパワーで山頂に着く頃には雨がやみ、箒を使って夕日の中で空を飛んでいるような写真を撮ってもらえました。その後の星空観測は雲が多く、星が見えるポイントを必死に探しその日のベストポジションで星空観測。ISHIKAWAさんの星座の説明は判りやすく、とっても楽しいかったです。次回は、6月の新月の時に行きたいです。

Thank you very much for participating in our Mauna Kea Summit Sunset and Stargazing Tour. The weather on the mountain can be unpredictable, so there are aspects that can only be known once you go. I was relieved to see that it cleared up partway through this time.

The broom is actually a personal item of our Masa. He prepared it himself in hopes of creating enjoyable memories for everyone participating in the tour. Additionally, we have various props, like handmade wooden boards by our staff, that are perfect for Instagram-worthy photos!

Our Ishikawa is also a veteran guide who has been with us for many years and is one of the guides requested by guests. We are already looking forward to the day when you can join us again in June!

In addition to dates near the new moon, there are many days when stargazing can be done before the moon rises. We can also check for the best moon phase dates during your stay, so please feel free to reach out.

The guide maintained just the right distance. I enjoyed listening to the stories in the car. They even asked if we wanted to take photos. Our pickup time was 1:30 PM, and it took quite a while until the last participant was picked up, but we had time for restroom breaks at each hotel and to look around the hotels, which was nice. It felt like we were driving around the Big Island, and that was enjoyable too. I was worried about altitude sickness since it was my first time climbing a high mountain, but I followed the guide's instructions and made it back safely. The sunset was cloudy, so we couldn't see a beautiful sunset, but the light from the sun and the clouds created a magical landscape. I was so happy and moved to be here. The starry sky was not visible at the summit due to clouds, so we saw it a little lower down the mountain. It was incredibly beautiful and clear, as if the clouds had never been there. The number of stars was amazing! We could see the Milky Way clearly! I was so moved. We even took photos with the Milky Way in the background, and I truly felt it was worth coming here. 😊

ガイドの方は丁度いい距離感でした。車内のお話も聞いていて楽しかったです。写真撮りますか？と自らお声掛けして下さいます。私達のピックアップの時間が1時30分で最後の参加者の方のピックアップまで結構かかりましたが、ホテルごとにトイレ休憩やホテル内を見れる時間があったのと、ハワイ島をドライブしているようでそれも楽しかったです。初めて高い山に登ったので高山病が心配でしたがガイドさんの指示に従って無事帰ってこれました。サンセットは雲があり綺麗な夕陽は見れませんでしたが、太陽の光と雲で幻想的な風景が見れました。ここに来れたことが嬉しくて感動しました。星空は山頂の方は雲で見えませんでしたので少し山を下ったところで見ました。先程まで雲に覆われていたのが嘘のように綺麗で澄んだ星空が見えました。星の数がすごい！天の川も普通に見える！感動しました。天の川を背景に写真も撮っていただき、本当に来て良かったと思いました(^^)

Whether you can see it or not all depends on luck. This time, fortunately, there were some clouds, but I was able to fully enjoy the sunset.
