Big Island
I can hardly speak English, but I decided to join the tour anyway! It was an afternoon tour.
Keauhou Bay felt like a hidden gem and had a bit of a mystical vibe. The water was very clear, and there were plenty of fish, but I felt that the quantity and variety were not much different from Kahalu'u Beach Park. For those who are used to snorkeling, it might feel a bit lacking.
The staff were friendly and kind. Even though I didn't understand the language, I was able to enjoy myself and it became a wonderful memory.
Below, I will outline the flow of the day. For those who also struggle with English, I hope this helps!

First, upon arriving on the Big Island, I had to make a reconfirmation call, which was the biggest hurdle. You can find detailed information about reconfirmation on the VELTRA website.
Since I didn’t have a rental car that day, I walked from the Sheraton Hotel to the meeting point. It took about 5 minutes on foot.
When I handed over the voucher at the reception, there was a quick explanation in English. Looking back, I think they mentioned that the snorkeling masks would be provided before boarding, and the fins would be handed out on the boat.
There was only one other group of Japanese people besides us, which was reassuring.
We had to wait quite a while until the morning tour's boat returned and the preparations were finished. It was hot outside.
After that, the rental of snorkeling masks began. At some point, they gathered people for the SNUBA activity and had them sign a consent form, but I wasn't sure if those were people who had pre-registered or if they were recruiting on the spot. Once the English explanation before boarding was done, we got on the boat.
The view from the second floor of the boat was great, but it seemed tough in the sunny spots. The ride took over 30 minutes.
Along the way, we encountered 4 to 5 dolphins! The people in the front seats seemed to see them well, but since we were in the middle of the second floor, we only caught a glimpse of their fins.
Near the counter on the first floor, there were snacks like water, tropical juice, and a mix of rice crackers and pretzels available for us to take freely. There were also restrooms.
The staff came around to distribute the fins. We had our own, so we didn’t borrow any, but the staff kindly asked us, “Do you have fins?” to check on us.
When we arrived at the snorkeling spot, we could also borrow floaties and other flotation devices, so those who are unsure about swimming can feel safe. The depth was completely beyond our feet.
In addition to snorkeling, we could enjoy diving from the boat and using a slide. I think we had about an hour of free time.
During the return trip, there was a fruit service as a signal to head back to the boat.
I didn’t see anyone giving tips, so I wasn’t sure when to give one. Those who were experienced might have discreetly tipped without others noticing.

ケアウホウ湾は秘境の地という感じがしてちょっと神秘的でした☆
水の透明度が高く魚もたくさんいましたが、カハルウビーチパークと量も種類もそんなに変わりなかったように感じます。慣れてる人だと物足りないかも？
スタッフの方は気さくで親切でした。言葉がわからないなりに楽しめてとても良い思い出になりました。

まずハワイ島に到着したらリコンファームという到着確認の電話をしなければならず、これが一番ハードル高かったです。
リコンファームについてはVELTRAさんのサイトに詳しく書いてあります。
当日はレンタカーではなかったのでシェラトンホテルから集合場所まで歩きました。
徒歩5分です。
受付でバウチャーを渡すと英語でさらさらっと説明がありました。
後から考えるとシュノーケルマスクは乗船前、フィンは船で渡しますと言っていたと思います。
日本人は私達以外に1組だけいらっしゃったので心強かったです。
午前のツアーの船が戻って来て船内の準備が終わるまでけっこう待ちました。外なので暑いです。
その後シュノーケルマスクの貸出が始まりました。
途中でスヌーバをやる人を集めて同意書を書かせたりしていたようですが、あらかじめ申し込んでいた人なのかその場で募ったのかなわかりませんでした。
英語による乗船前の説明が済んだら乗り込みです。
船は二階だと見晴らしがいいですが日が当たる場所はキツそうでした。乗船時間は30分以上はあります。
途中でイルカ4～5頭に会いました！前の席の方たちはしっかり見れていたようですが、二階の真ん中の席だった私達は背びれが見れたくらいです。
１階のカウンター付近に水とトロピカルジュース、おかきやプレッツェルが混ざったスナックが置いてあり自由に取りに行く感じでした。トイレもあります。
フィンはスタッフの方が配りに来てくれます。
私達は自分のがあったので借りませんでしたが、スタッフさんが代わる代わる｢フィンはある？｣と気遣ってくれました。
スポットに着いたら浮き輪や体に巻く浮き具も借りられますので泳ぎが不安な方も安心です。足は全くつかない深さです。
シュノーケル以外にも、船からのダイブや滑り台で楽しむことができます。
自由時間は1時間くらいだったと思います。
終了の合図で船に戻り帰路についている間、フルーツのサービスがありました。
チップは渡している人を見かけなかったためタイミングがわからず渡していません。
慣れている方々は他の人にわからないようにスマートに渡していたのかもしれません。

日が暮れる前の濃い青の空、頂上の大地の色、夕陽に染まる一面の雲海、天の川と満天の星空、くっきりと見える大きな月。すべてが初めての光景でした。
高山病が不安でしたが、ガイドさんのアドバイスで安心して向かうことができました。
頂上ではふらつきなどがありましたが、石段に座って深呼吸をしているとすぐに良くなりました。
ビジターセンターからの景色と天気は頂上と全然違ったので上まで行くツアーにして本当によかったです。
写真ダウンロードの特典のありがたみは帰ってから痛感しました。
自分で撮った写真は後で見るとイマイチなのも多くて･･･。
あの日の景色をそのまま切り取ったような写真がもらえて嬉しいです。
楽しい構図の写真もたくさん撮ってくれました。

Things I wanted to see on the Big Island: Nature Point on the east side, Kilauea Volcano, and sunset & stargazing from Mauna Kea. I considered doing a combined tour of Kilauea and Mauna Kea, but due to travel time and some places being inaccessible, I decided to join separate tours.
In the end, it was a great success and I was very satisfied. We left in the afternoon, took our time acclimating by having a meal at the mid-level, and then headed to the summit. I only brought a lightweight down jacket and an outdoor jacket. They lent me ski wear, a hat, and gloves, so I was able to enjoy the sunset at the summit without shivering from the cold and had a wonderful view of the starry sky! There were so many stars that I didn't even know where to look.
That day was Tanabata. In Japan, it often rains or is cloudy on this day, but we had a clear view of the Milky Way. I was given instructions on how to take photos that looked like composites, and the results turned out great! The tour staff helped set up my camera for beautiful shots, and I ended up with lovely photos. Of course, you can also take wonderful pictures with your smartphone.
In addition to bottled water, they provided warm miso soup and drinks during the meal, which was nice. I was really lucky with the weather. I’m grateful that my number one thing I wanted to do on the Big Island turned out to be such a wonderful day, along with the attentive service and the entertaining guide! 持参したのは薄手のダウンやアウトドアジャケットだけ。
スキーウエア上下、帽子、手袋を貸してもらえたので山頂でも寒さに震えることなくゆっくりサンセットを楽しみ、素敵な満天の星を眺めることができました！
星がいっぱい過ぎてどこ見ていいかわからないぐらい。
この日は七夕。日本だと雨や曇りの多いこの日ですがくっきりミルキーウエイ。

ペットボトルのお水の他、食事の際には温かいお味噌汁やドリンクが用意されていたのも良かったです。
天候に恵まれたのは本当にラッキーでした。ハワイ島でやりたかったことのナンバー１がこんなに素敵な日であったことと、行き届いたサービス、面白ガイドさんに感謝です！

I recommend this show for fully enjoying the feeling of being in Hawaii!

We originally arrived on a Friday to see the show, but shortly after we started the meal,we were completely rained out. That was very disappointing and upsetting that we weren't forewarned by email about the strong possibility of rain, as we had come over from Hilo for the luau. However, we received a rain check for another luau on the following Monday. Fortunately, we were able to rearrange our schedule to come before flying home. The Monday night luau was lovely - entertainment and emcee were fantastic all around. Food was good, not great. Service was okay. Location was beautiful.
I participated with my husband after being recommended by a community on Facebook that loves the Big Island of Hawaii. Our guide was "Matsucchan," who looked great in a knit hat. On the day of the tour, I was a bit worried because it started to drizzle under a cloudy sky, but the guide's expertise was evident!
Working in tandem with another guide, Konno, we persevered and moved locations as needed to find the best spots, allowing us to enjoy both the sunset and the starry sky. It was said that the following day would feature a meteor shower (I forgot the name of it), so visibility was a bit challenging, but we had a clear view of the moon through a reflecting telescope (which can be tracked via GPS), and with the careful explanations using a laser pointer, we learned about the constellations and their history.
What impressed me the most was their ability to not miss any photo opportunities! They managed all the positions, so I felt completely at ease.
Additionally, there’s a follow-up story: during the tour, my husband lost his favorite sunglasses and was feeling down the next day. However, when we inquired about it on a whim, they found them on the bus and delivered them during that day's tour. I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude once again. ガイドはニット帽がよく似合う"松っちゃん"。
当日は途中から霧雨の曇り空で大丈夫かなーと思ってたんですが、週5回上っている眼力は確かです！
もう1グループのガイドで相方のkonnoさんと連携して、粘りながら時には場所を移動しながら、ポイントを探し出して、サンセットも星空もしっかり観ることができました。
星空はナントカ流星群（聞いたのに忘れました;）が飛び交った翌日らしいので、ちょっと見えづらい感じでしたが、月は反射望遠鏡（GPSで追えるらしいです）でバッチリ見えたし、レーザーポインターを使っての丁寧な説明で、見えた星から星座の配置図とか歴史とかも知ることができました。
もっとも感心したのはシャッターチャンスとポイントを外さないこと！
立ち位置も全部仕切ってくれるので、任せておけば安心でした。
あと後日談がありまして、ツアー中に夫がお気に入りのサングラスを失くしてしまい、翌日半日ションボリしていたのですが、ダメモトで問い合わせたら、バスの中で見つけてその日のツアーの流れで届けてくれました。
この場を借りて、もう一度お礼が言いたいです。

Our guide is David and he was very kind and informative. He provided a lot of island guide and knowledge of astronomy and geography. Everything in the tour were just fine. I participated in the Mauna Kea Summit Sunset & Stargazing Tour with Reflecting Telescope by Masashi Nature School. マウナケア山頂 サンセット＆星空観測ツアー＜反射望遠鏡＞ by マサシネイチャースクールに参加しました。ツアー参加者は日本人ばかりで全員で9名の参加で、１BOXカーで移動しました。ツアーガイドはハワイ大学を出られて現地で火山の研究をされていたJINさんという日本人の方で移動中もハワイの火山の話から動植物の話、日常のお話など面白おかしく話していただいて移動中の車の中でも全く退屈することはありませんでした。初めに360度溶岩の風景の箇所に下りて記念撮影。ガイドさんが積極的に皆のカメラで写真と取っていただいたのも助かりました。続いて、天体観測所の中継地点にてお弁当で腹ごしらえ。もっと簡素なものかと想像していましたがしっかりとしたお弁当で、お味噌汁もついていました。食後は防寒着（厚手のつなぎ、手袋、ニット帽）を貸していただきいざ山頂へ。暑いハワイであまり防寒着を持ってきていなかったですが、正直用意されているものだけで、後は長袖の下着のみでOKですので、長ズボン、ジャケットなどはなくても私は大丈夫でした。高山病の心配もしていましたがガイドさんからの呼吸法などのアドバイスや気遣いもあり問題ありませんでした。その後の日没、星空もとてもきれいでまたガイドさんの説明もわかりやすくて参加して本当に良かったですので、是非おススメです！！

The guides were lovely and we saw dolphins! It could not have been more fun. We went as a family with my 60-year old parents and my 7-year old son. All had fun. There was snorkeling in a lovely cove, along with cliff diving and fresh pineapple. The only thing I wished I'd known was that we don't actually take the boats on shore for picnic time. Kevin and Noni at King Kayak did a fabulous job of getting us out on the water. We had a group of four, ranging from 10 to 80 years old, and they kept the trip interesting, and low-impact. We got to see some spinner dolpins, enter a sea cave, snorkel in a pristine location, and jump off of cliffs into the crystal-blue waters of the bay. They took photos of us free of charge. It was a great adventure for all!
Gordon, our Driver / Guide was very knowledgable of the Island and was a great guide of the cosmos. I will definitely be returning and have already shared some of the pictures i took, and people still dont believe how great the stars you can see with the naked eye. I couldn't believe how great it looked almost fake it was that Great of an experience. Thanks for the Dinner and Hot Drink selection at the end of our star gazing tour.

Talented and great looking actors, musicians and hostess. The food was high quality. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is the Mai Tais. They were mainly juice, super sweet and head-ache inducing. The bar closed much earlier than dinner ended, so I couldn't take advantage of the open bar. Another thing that didn't seem fair is that teenagers paid the same as adults. And of course they weren't drinking...
The nature walk was just perfect. We were transported to the forest by a great big open truck with 6 wheels. It was to full capacity with 11 people on board plus our guide and driver, Noi. She was super experienced driving the truck (which didn't seem easy) and very knowledgeable about all that was around us in the forest. She went out of her way to make sure we all had captured the right pictures. The waterfall was super pretty and refreshing to swim in. The views were fantastic and the time went by super quickly.
I would definitely recommend this adventure to everyone who can easily walk for an hour or so straight.
We thoroughly enjoyed the show. Even a little rain just added to the entertainment. Good buffet with plenty to choose from with foods both familiar and local. Nice atmosphere on the lawn by the ocean. Fire dancer was pretty awesome. Great view of the sunset. We would do this again.
It was a great tour with a great guide. He loves his job, he know a lot of things on Hawaiian culture. It's a deluxe tour with a lot of attention! We will never forget that tour!

This is my fourth time on board. At some point, it has become a promise between my husband and me that "when we come to the Big Island, we will participate in the Fair Wind activities." As always, I'm excited to visit the beautiful bay and scenery. Actually, I tend to get seasick, so I usually struggle with boats. However, the Fair Wind catamaran has minimal rocking, which allows someone like me to feel safe while on board. I've been on it four times and have enjoyed myself without getting seasick even once. Watching the fish is fun, but sliding down the slide attached to the boat while shouting "Yay!" and "Wow!" truly brings me back to my childhood and is the best time ever. It's also nice that lunch is prepared at just the right time. The crew members are all friendly and amazing. I definitely want to go again next time.
４回目の乗船。いつの頃からか「ハワイ島に来たら、フェアウィンド号のアクティビティーに参加する。」というのは、私達夫婦の御約束事みたいになってしまいました。風景と美しい湾に行くのは、いつもの事ながらわくわくします。実は、私は船酔いするため船は、苦手中の苦手なのです。しかし、双胴船のフェアウィンドは揺れが少ないことから、こんな私でも安心して乗船できます。４回乗船しましたが、１度も船酔いすることなく楽しむことができました。お魚を見るのも楽しいですが、船についている滑り台を「きゃー」とか「わー」とか叫びながら滑り落ちるのは、まさに童心に戻って最高の時間です。調度よい時間に昼食が準備されるのも良いですよね。
クルーのスタッフは、みんなフレンドリーで最高です。また次回も是非行きたいと思っています。

A fantastic adventure! We rowed down the coast--explored and rolled into a couple of caves. Snorkeling and cliff jumping into clear waters--everything we could ask for. Our guide-(Kayla)-sorry--I know that's wrong---was great. Good instructions on kayaking basics---knowledgable about the area---she knew her stuff. My wife and I--both 50-ish--were blown away. We would highly recommend this trip and this company. Thanks for a great day!
