Our first time, but not our last!
Reviewed by: Michelle M, 2024/03/18We loved everything about this tour! The boat was comfortable and clean and there was plenty of room for our gear. The food was excellent. My husband and I are omnivores, but we thoroughly enjoyed the vegan lunch and breakfast! The snorkeling was so much fun and we were fortunate enough to have perfect weather. We brought our own snorkel equipment and fins, but the boat was equipped with all of that plus life vests, pool noodles, inner tubes, sun screen and anti fog spray for masks. Last, but most importantly, the crew was amazing. Everyone was so caring and helpful and made sure we felt comfortable and safe in the water and out. We will be sure to book with Fair Wind Cruises again when we travel to the Big Island.

Wonderful experience
Reviewed by: David F, 2024/02/14Had a great day on the water. Right out of the bay we experience whales breaching the water. Staff was well trained, everyone had their job and was on it. They were very helpful in and out of the water. Very knowledgable about the history of the bay and Capt. Cook. Breakfast and lunch was very good and served efficiently. Saw lots of species of fish on the coral reef at the Capt. Cook Monument. To finish the day we were entertained by Spinner Dolphins jumping out of the water. Highly recommend!

The slide and platform were fun too! We went as a couple but great for families/children also. Had pastries and yogurt for breakfast, burgers for lunch, and cash bar open the entire time. I do wish for the price at least 1 drink could be included, but it was still a great time. We even saw some dolphins following our boat shortly before docking at the end

Deluxe Captain Cook Snorkeling Tour at Kealakekua Bay - Fair Wind Cruises
A Relaxing and Enjoyable Trip with Good Food but Mediocre Snorkeling
Reviewed by: Kathy M., 2023/09/23On the whole, I'm glad I went. It was a lovely day, the boat was comfortable, and food great. The trip included a plant-based breakfast and lunch, with Kona coffee and alcoholic drinks available for purchase. The boat stopped twice on the way out so our guide could explain what we were seeing along the shore.
All the staff members were delightful and took good care of us.
Unfortunately, Kealakekua Bay did not offer the variety of sea life I experienced in other Hawaiian locations. I wonder if the reef has been affected by global warming. My prior experiences were 20 years ago, so things may be different now.
My experience was complicated by the fact that the corrective face masks were only available in a medium, which was too large for me. Consequently, I had major water leakage and was unable to spend much time snorkeling. One of the staff explained that supply chain problems have limited the availability of corrective masks. That's a good reason for bringing your own!
My sister, who had her own mask, explored more widely and commented on the relative scarcity of sea life, although she did see one kind of fish that was new to her.
Nevertheless, the trip was fun. I enjoyed my run down the slide - my sister's dared me to do it!
A number of snorkeling tours go to Kealakekua Bay. I looked at the other tour boats there and concluded that ours was the best. All in all, it was a great way to spend the morning. (Did I mention that both breakfast and lunch were delicious?)

昼食は、BBQと書いてあったのですが、作り置きの冷えた小さなハンバーガーで、昼食も選んだ理由だったので、変わったのであれば、修正しておいてほしかったです。
ツアーは悪くなかったと思うのですが、コスパとしては、高いと思いました。

きれいな海に感動❗
Reviewed by: ヨッピー, 2023/08/15参加したのは、台風の影響がある８月９日でした。ワイコロアに宿泊していたので強風で白波も立っていたので、これは中止かな？と思いながら港に向かいました。ところが、ケアウホウ湾の方はとても穏やかで快晴☀️、素晴らしい景色と海の青さに感動的しました。私たちのような還暦近くの夫婦でもとても楽しめるツアーでした。スタッフの皆さんが明るく親切で１日楽しかったですハワイ島は、場所によってずいぶんとお天気が違うので不思議でした。

Excellent Family Snorkel Tour

Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The crew were so friendly and helpful! We were impressed with their safety precautions, including all of the crew being certified lifeguards and were watching out for everyone the entire time we were in the water. The water was pristine and we saw so many varieties of fish and even saw an eel. The coral was beautiful, too.

They were both got a little nervous about the snorkeling and the crew patiently offered different options until they agreed to the kick boards with lenses. A big hit!! We saw a variety of fish and enjoyed the beauty (and history) of Cooke Cove The slides were also entertaining as the kids watched different people (including mom and dad) zoom down!! If you are concerned about the all veg breakfast and lunch, don’t be. As meat eaters, we all agreed the food was outstanding. To top it off, the Captain’s historical knowledge and witty comments made the ride to and from the coral reefs a lot of fun. We highly recommend tour!

期待以上に魚がみれた、シュノーケリングオススメ！

ソフトドリンクは何種類かあり飲み放題、朝食はフルーツとデニッシュ、昼食はサンドイッチで具材も選ばせてもらえおいしかったです。おやつにポテチもでました。日焼け止めも置いてあったりとサービスはよかったです。
参加者は20人ぐらいいて、日本人は私達夫婦だけでした。当然すべて英語なので、説明もほとんどわからなかったです。ただスタッフはジェスチャーでシュノーケルの使い方を教えてくれました。
とにかくケアラケクア湾でのシュノーケリングは綺麗で最高でした！ハワイ島に行くならオススメです。

Awesome day at sea

We had plenty of time to snorkel. The boat was comfortable as well with plenty of spaces to sit in the shade or sun. We also loved the fresh water showers to rinse off coming out of the ocean. We will definitely be booking with Sea Paradise again in the future.

Hilo Black Sand Beach Guided Snorkel Tour at Sea Turtle Lagoon
Fun time snorkeling, but we miss the boat.
Reviewed by: SJ Bass, 2022/09/24We signed up for a snorkeling trip online. Mind you, we’ve done these trips before where they take us out on a catamaran and find some secluded bay where we can go and check out the tropical fish and coral reef and maybe a chance at a sea turtle.
Well, this trip was not quite the same. We did find a secluded bay that had a nice cool reef and tropical fish but we got there by use of a Ford expedition (which had no AC by the way). We then traveled to a second spot by car, where we did get a chance to see a sea turtle, but not much else.
Our snorkel guide was very kind and considerate and made sure that everybody in our small group of four was safe. But it seemed like he was working with one arm tied behind his back, because he had to hunt out the two places for us to dive.

Really great trip

Good continental breakfast and lunch with extra snacks available. We always felt safe and secure both onboard and while snorkeling. Crew added historical info throughout the trip. I highly recommend this trip.

Reviewed by: TRK, 2022/08/28A smooth sail and comfortable ride. The crew was very professional and knowledgeable. I didn't think I'd want a pool noodle...but get the pool noodle. It helps alot unless you plan to free dive. The food and drinks were good and sandwiches are fine for a boat trip. Don't expect fine dining. Plenty of room on board, even if you feel it might fill up with guests. The crew was there to keep the boat clean as well. I'd recommend getting there early for parking, as there's only street parking and you might have to walk to get to the launch. Beautiful boat. Enjoyed the trip! Thanks!

Great snorkel and guide.

Also learned a lot about the local area and history. Very helpful for getting our son, who is not a strong swimmer and new to snorkeling, into the water. Our guide explained everything very well and emphasized safety and respect for the land, sea and marine life.

We moor in about 25-30 feet of water in order to protect the fragile coral reef. When guests stay near the boat unfortunately the fish are less plentiful in the open water.
During our safety briefing our crew instructs guests to swim closer to shore in about 10-15 feet of water where the coral and fish are plentiful.

I liked that I saw the crew wiping down all the rails and high touch surfaces after the last group/ before we boarded. Saw some dolphins and plenty of fish, and a couple of flying fish! The crew and captain were very informative about the reef and preserving the reef life. One member even informed a kayaker that he was too close to the reef and could damage it. Will book with them again our next round.

Great experience

The swim itself was fantastic. There were so many colorful fish and one of the crew showed us a starfish. We enjoyed the adventure so much that snorkeling is officially our new favorite hobby.

What a great experience!
Reviewed by: ominette@hotmail.com, 2022/06/27Our guide Devin was very accommodating and knowledgeable! He was thorough when discussing safety in the reef and how best to use the equipment. He seemed to enjoy the experience as much as we did even though we know he does this every day! We were thrilled to be able to commune with sea turtles as they relaxed in the sunshine. He then navigated us through the coral reef and pointed out a bunch of wildlife we might have never have seen on our own. The snacks and drinks at the end of the tour were exactly what we needed after swimming for an hour and a half. We appreciated the personalized experience and would absolutely do this again!
