Big Island
We participated as a family of four. At the departure point for the kick-up, I was worried because there were many clouds, but at the summit of 4,000 meters, it was not a problem at all. The weather was perfectly clear. James, our guide, was great, and there were no issues with communication in both English and Japanese. The tour content was absolutely wonderful, and the beauty of the sunset, the Milky Way, and Scorpius was exceptional.
The sunset was moving, but the colors of the sky changing from orange to yellow to purple after sunset were incredibly impressive. Our guide took a lot of photos of the sunset and the stargazing, and all of them turned out to be amazing. I’m grateful for the precious photos that captured both the Milky Way and Scorpius along with people, which I couldn't have taken with my own camera.

Family trip we stayed at King Kamehameha’s Beach Resort. We researched other Kona area Luaus and found this one to be well rated. We really liked the convenience of just walking over from the hotel. The Luau was very well organized in checking people in, helping you find your assigned seats. Great idea on that! Really simplified what could be mass chaos without assigned seating. We were staying on Oahu and they made all of our flight arrangements, provided a delicious local meal and plenty of snacks and somehow made it back in plenty of time for our evening flight back over to Oahu. We were amazed at how much we were able to see and do all in one day. It is an experience that my family and I will treasure.

Our guide was absolutely great! He was fun to be with. Unfortunately Mother Nature was not very cooperative, as it was very overcast/cloudy. No stargazing at the top or at the lower level was possible. Sunset was also disappointing. We did get to wander around some awesome telescopes. We were told we would each get a rebate on our charge, but that hasn't shown up on our account yet. But, we did have fun w/ our fellow excursionists, and as I stated at the beginning, our guide was great! Back at the bottom, he did take some time to show us some stars and constellations that became visible.
