I was drawn to participate after seeing a photo of the sea of clouds at Mauna Kea in a guidebook.

The scenery on the way to Mauna Kea was wonderful for me, and I even encountered a herd of wild goats along the way, which was fun.

At the Onizuka Visitor Center, I borrowed warm clothing (the only place that lends both top and bottom was Masashi Nature School, so I decided on this place based on reviews), and off we went to the summit!

It was cold, but I was able to endure it and see the sunset sinking into the sea of clouds. I was so moved that I took a lot of photos, but the time at the summit was only about 30 minutes, and the sunset went down quickly, so I regretted not taking more time to enjoy it. Even after the sun set, the orange and blue colors lingered faintly between the clouds and the sky, which was very beautiful!

Afterward, we went a little lower to enjoy stargazing, but unfortunately, it was a full moon (I knew this when I signed up, but I could only take my vacation at this time), so there were fewer stars. However, I had expected the worst, so I was able to see more stars than I thought. My desire to see how amazing it would be during a new moon grew even stronger!

The guide's explanations were detailed and easy to understand, using a laser pointer, which was great.

Overall, I think this is a tour I would recommend to anyone, but if possible, participating during a new moon would enhance the experience even more!

マウナ・ケアまでの道中の景色も私にとっては素晴らしく、途中で野生のヤギの群れにも遭遇し楽しかったです。

オニズカビジターセンターで上下の防寒具を貸してもらい（上下貸して貰えるのはマサシ・ネイチャースクールだけだったので口コミと合わせてここに決めました）、いざ山頂へ！

寒かったのですが十分耐えれるレベルで雲海に沈む夕陽を観ることが出来ました。感動して写真を撮りまくりましたが、山頂での時間は３０分ほどと短く、夕陽が沈んでいくのも速いのでもっとゆっくり眺めるべきだったと少し後悔しました。夕陽が沈んだ後も雲と空の間にオレンジ色と青色が薄く残りとても綺麗でした！

その後少し下ったところで星空観賞をしましたがあいにくの満月だったので（申し込み時点で分かっていましたが休暇がこの時期しか無理だったので）星は少なめでした。それでも最悪を予想していたので思っていたよりも星はたくさん見えました。新月の時ならどれくらいすごいのか見たい気持ちがより強くなりました！
ガイドさんの説明も詳しくレーザーを使って分かり易くて良かったです。

トータルしてどなたにも勧められるツアーだと思いますが、出来れば新月の時に参加すれば感動は倍増すると思います！

I participated in the GW event. Watching the sunset from over 4000 meters is something you don't get to experience often, and the sun sinking into the sea of clouds was incredibly beautiful, leaving me with unforgettable memories. Also, the stargazing was amazing; even though the moon was bright, I could clearly see the Winter Triangle, Orion, the Southern Cross, and the Big Dipper, which was truly moving. Since we were observing under the cold sky, the cookies and tea we received were really delicious! Our guide, Mr. Yamamoto, was very enthusiastic and it was a really enjoyable tour.

I participated exactly one year ago.

You can see a starry sky that you can't find in Japan.

I participated on April 28. The sea of clouds viewed from 4,000 meters high felt mysterious and beautiful, like a lake. I was moved by the clear sunset, but I was captivated by the starry sky. I was impressed by the lovely Saturn and the large moon that I was shown through a telescope. Next time, I want to go during a different season. The miso soup with the meal was warm and delicious!

I'm not a big fan of group activities, but since it's difficult to visit Mauna Kea on your own, I decided to sign up despite it being a bit pricey. To conclude, my two middle school children said it was the most fun they had during our eight-day trip. I don't think it's ever possible to drive up to 4000 meters. Fortunately, I was able to see both the sunset and the stars (it seems to depend on the weather). The cold is manageable since they lend you a jacket and pants, so there's no need to worry too much; regular clothes (long sleeves and long pants) are sufficient.

The participants were all newlywed couples. At first, my husband and I, a couple in our forties, felt overwhelmed by the intense lovey-dovey atmosphere around us and regretted coming. The sunset and starry sky viewed from Mauna Kea were amazing!
It was below freezing near the summit, but this tour provided not only down jackets but also pants, so I didn't feel as cold as I expected. This was different from other tours, and I really appreciated it.
Additionally, since I was dressed warmly, being able to do stargazing at a higher elevation was a great attraction.
If I had a suggestion, during the journey, there was an explanation about the Big Island, but I think it would have been even better to hear more in-depth stories about the history of the Big Island and the area.

We participated as a pair in June. Last time it was Mr. Taikobou, so this time we tried Mr. Masashi. Both have their own unique characteristics and are interesting. The day I participated, the moon was bright due to the approaching full moon, making conditions not ideal for stargazing, and the thick clouds meant that the expected starry sky near the summit was not visible.

Even though the stars were not visible, the sunset sinking into the clouds was very beautiful, and it made me feel like I was above the clouds, which I think is one of the joys of the experience.

I also want to thank the staff who helped me find points where I could see the stars as I gradually descended by car, even though I couldn't see them near the summit!

I went to see the sunset, and it was incredibly beautiful! The sunset was great, but unfortunately, there were clouds in the sky, so I couldn't see the stars. However, the guides were very engaging and tried their best until the very end... their service was excellent.

When we had our lunch just before reaching the summit, we enjoyed warm miso soup, tea, and cocoa, which really helped warm us up.

Additionally, they lent us ski wear-like outerwear, which was great! Other tour participants only had outerwear for the upper body, so they looked very cold.

The summit is quite chilly. The restroom is also quite scary—it's very dark.

But the beauty of the sunset made me forget the cold.

Also, the guides actively took photos for us, and even though we didn't have many pictures of the two of us, they captured some wonderful commemorative photos.

他のツアーの人は上だけの防寒具だったりしてたので、とても寒そうに見えました。

山頂はかなり寒いです。
トイレもかなり怖いです。真っ暗で。

ケド、寒さを忘れるくらい、サンセットはキレイでした。

また、ガイドさんが積極的に写真を撮って下さり、2人の写真があまりなかったなか、記念のステキな写真を撮っていただけました。

きっと星空が見えたらもっと感動してたと思いますが、自然の事ですから、仕方がないですよね。
ツアーに一緒に参加してた人たちは『これは、もう一回来いって事よね！』って言ってました。

I participated in the Mauna Kea summit tour with Masashi Nature. We were able to drive to the summit in a short time that made the height of Mauna Kea feel insignificant, and at the top, we witnessed a wonderful sunset. I could truly feel the height and grandeur of the mountain.

We went to the Big Island of Hawaii for the first time as a family. Driving around in a rental car was amazing. The Mauna Kea tour in September is fully booked everywhere!! It was a good decision to make a reservation in advance with Alan1. Since all the tours have a small number of participants, they fill up quickly. I recommend making an early reservation... it seems impossible to do so once you arrive in September.

Honestly, I didn't have high expectations, but I was incredibly impressed and came back amazed. The beauty of the sunset is the best.

However, since it was close to a full moon, the brightness of the moon overshadowed the stars... which was a bit disappointing!!

But I was happy to see the craters on the moon through the telescope. September is the time of the Mid-Autumn Festival, so the moon is beautiful.

Next time, I will aim for a new moon and participate again. The photos I uploaded are of the sunset, the observation deck, and the bright, beautiful moon.
