There is no Japanese guide, but the staff did their best to explain in Japanese. When you see the whales, you completely forget about the language barrier. It was a wonderful experience.

We were able to see a couple humpback whales, no breach but that was ok. Saw back & the tails! Wild creatures don't always do what we wish, but we saw them! Also saw 4 hammerhead sharks, bottle nose dolphin & a spinner dolphin. Great experience.

I was able to catch a glimpse of it three times from a distance. However, it was too far away to capture in a photo, and it was just for a moment. Still, I enjoyed the cruise. The staff couldn't speak any Japanese, but they were very friendly. Later, during the dolphin watching in Oahu, I was lucky enough to see whales up close several times, which was great.

We saw whales but the boat was so-so

We've been on multiple whale tours over the years. We saw multiple whales but the boat was crowded and pretty dated. The microphone didn't work for the first 30 minutes and they never used the hydrophone after mentioning that they had one. Definitely not the "spacious deck with ample seating for all passengers and first class amenities" as advertised. The Kawaihae Harbor location is setup weird. After arriving and checking in we had to board a bus for a 5 minute ride to the boat. Every cruise in the past allowed us to park and then walk on without a shuttle bus. The crew was friendly.

Enjoying the majestic nature of Mauna Kea and Kilauea, along with activities facing the Pacific Ocean. Although the captain kept a keen eye as we sailed, we were unable to encounter any whales. However, we were able to fully enjoy the sunset quietly sinking into the Pacific Ocean.

The captain worked hard to search for whales, but we could only see them from a distance and had a hard time spotting them up close.

When we were turning the boat back, we saw a pod of whales breaching, and the other passengers told the captain, but it seemed like we were out of time, which was very disappointing.

I was quite moved when the whale suddenly appeared on the surface, even though it didn't show itself for a while!
The guide spoke in English, so I couldn't catch everything, but just being rocked by the large boat and looking at the vast ocean was very soothing.
We participated as a family with children, and it was great that the kids' tickets were free.

It seems it was too early for whale watching. The participants seemed to mainly enjoy the sunset and the meal on the sea. The driver for the pick-up, the receptionist, and the captain were all very pleasant. I would like to try again around March when the whales are out.

The receptionist felt sorry and changed my reservation to a dinner cruise starting later that night, but it was a few hours later, and since I wanted to go whale watching, it felt like a waste. We saw a mother whale and her new calf. The baby was so new that the mother had to hold it up with her fin for it to get some air. We also saw some bottle nose dolphins that escorted us back to the pier. Then while we were docking we saw a sea turtle through the glass bottom boat. It was a fantastic and relaxing tour.

Wow we saw momma baby and daddy humpbacks was saw whales all around us their tales were enormous it was the best day. We went mid morning the catamaran was spacious and very comfortable. Easy to board. The crew was very informative and friendly they were just as excited with all the action around us. We went in February 2015. I would highly recommend this tour.

Amazing creatures. Definitely a must see activity if you are in Hawaii during the right time of year. I liked the fact that this tour allowed to you return until you actually see whales. What a wonderful experience. We got to see whales and dolphins just a couple miles off shore. Whales breaching the surface constantly for 2 hours. We had one breach the water within 100 feet of the boat! Would highly recommend to anyone.

I participated on the last day. In the morning, we got on the boat, and there were many people from overseas who were excited, shouting "Yay!!!" when the whales appeared. My experience during the New Year was just the beginning, but from now until around March, humpback whales will be migrating south to Hawaii, so they can be seen quite well. The lookout staff and the captain pointed out, "Over there!" As we moved closer, we saw a mother and calf, along with various other forms, spouting water and showing their tails as they dove... Towards the end, they chased the boat and swam underneath it. Such an experience is hard to come by, but those who are prone to seasickness should be careful.

のりのりで『イエ〜〜〜〜〜〜イ！！」
私の行った年末年始はまだ序の口のようですがこの後３月くらいまでハワイではザトウくじらが散乱の為に南下してきますからよく見えます。
見張り役の方々とキャプテンがあの辺り！火事を進めて行くと２匹親子で、雄のみなど様々な形態で
潮を吹き尻尾を見せて潜ったり・・・・最後の方は船を追いかけてくぐって行きました。
こんな体験はなかなか出来ませんが、船酔いする方は注意してくださいね
