We loved the friendly staff and their expertise they explained everything well that we all had fun safe riding time. Would definitely come back next time for a longer tour. If you are planning this ahead of time, grab a warm hat. It gets cold and misty and very windy. But they do have extra jackets and cowboy hats and even boots to use for the ride.

I chose this place because I wanted to try something different from horseback riding last time. We rode for about two hours. The scenery was absolutely amazing, and the view of the ocean from the high ground was wonderful. Our guide, Maika, was very kind even though we couldn't speak English well. My family did this experience. It’s quite a drive to get to this place. I did this with my husband and 2 kids (ages 12 & 9). The tour guides were really friendly and informative. They chose our horses for us based on weight and experience. The horses know where they’re going so there’s little for the rider to do. The waterfall was very cold, deep, and there’s quite a current! Be prepared if you want to swim (we did!). They have kayaks and paddle boards if you prefer not to swim. My kids loved this experience and have been asking for horseback lessons since we got back. Bring a long sleeve shirt or light jacket just in case- we were chilly!

I thought this horseback riding experience was a bit hard for complete beginners. The staff was very kind and interacted with us in a fun way, which made me very satisfied. However, the fact that it was only in English was a concern. I understood that there was no Japanese guide, but since we are dealing with animals, it's very important to have explanations that need to be conveyed clearly, and doing that entirely in English felt a bit off. While it's understandable that the guide is in English, I believe there should be a Japanese version of the instructions on how to ride and safety precautions, or at least an email sent in advance with that information.

Even though the staff explained things clearly, I think there might be instances where I could miss something if it's in English. It's not just about being careful for myself; we are dealing with living animals. Their mood can change, and they might get agitated over small things. I actually experienced that this time. Fortunately, nothing serious happened, and the horse is not to blame, but I hope this aspect can be improved.

今回の乗馬体験は、全くの乗馬初心者にはちょっとハードだったかなと思いました。スタッフの方はとても親切で、楽しく接してくれて大満足なんですが、まずは英語ガイドなこと。日本語ガイドがない事はわかっていたのですが、動物相手なので、とても重要なことの説明が必要なのに、それを全部英語でと言うのは、ちょっと違うかなと思いました。ガイドは英語でも仕方ないことですが、注意しなければいけない事、馬の乗り方の説明ガイドの日本語版は用意して欲しい、もしくは前もってメールで送るなどの配慮が必要だと思いました。
スタッフの方はわかりやすく説明はしてくれても、英語だと聞き逃したりがあるとおもいます。
自分だけが気をつけていればで済むことではないからです。相手は生きている動物なので。その時の気分や、ちょっとしたことで暴れてしまうこともあるからです。実際今回私はそうでした。大事にはいたりませんでしたし、馬に罪はないのでそれ以上どうと言う事はありませんが、その点は改善して欲しい事です。

I was worried that it might be too cold at such a high altitude and that my winter gear wouldn't be sufficient, but they provided parkas and warm jackets, allowing for a comfortable horseback riding experience. This was my third time horseback riding on the Big Island of Hawaii, and the scenery was beautiful, the horses were all well-behaved, and although the staff spoke only English, they spoke clearly and slowly, making it easy to understand. I feel that this horseback riding experience was the best one yet.

I participated in a 2.5-hour tour in the morning session. There were 12 participants from various countries, and we were the only Japanese attendees. The guides were two women.

I was anxious because I hardly speak English, but the guide, Jackie, was kind and spoke slowly using gestures, occasionally mixing in some Japanese to check on us. There was also a Japanese version of the consent form.

Based on our riding experience, we were able to choose a horse that suited us well. I rode Stormy, who has also been ridden by Jun Hasegawa! We started with a briefing, gave the horse some water, and then set off!

The horseback riding took place on a vast area where we walked and ran, and along the way, we saw Japanese wagyu and cedar trees, with the guide providing information. The weather and scenery were great, and it felt wonderful. Although the land was really expansive, the 2.5 hours flew by. If you're afraid of running, you can also go at a slow walk. There are spots along the way where you can take group photos with beautiful scenery.

When running, you kick the horse, and when stopping, you pull the reins. As long as you keep your heels down while riding, you should be fine.

It was truly a fulfilling 2.5 hours, an amazing experience that you can only have in a vast place like Hawaii Island. I definitely want to do it again.

I am grateful to the two guides, the other participants, and the horses. Thank you very much.

Additionally, the staff at Veltra were very courteous in handling time changes and schedule adjustments, which I appreciated.

乗馬は、とても広大な土地で歩いたり、走ったり、途中和牛がいたり、杉の木があったりガイドもして貰えました。天気も景色も良くて、とても気持ちが良かったです。本当に広い土地でしたが、2.5時間があっという間でした。走るのが怖ければ、ゆっくり歩くこともできます。途中景色が良いスポットでグループ単位で写真撮影もして貰えます。

走らせる時は馬を蹴り、止まる時はロープを引っ張り、馬に乗っている時に踵を下にすることを気をつければ、ある程度大丈夫だと思います。

本当に充実した2.5時間で、ハワイ島のような広大な場所でしか体験できないような素晴らしい体験でした。また絶対にやりたいです。

ガイドのお二人と参加者の方とお馬に感謝です。ありがとうございました。

また、ベルトラの方が時間変更や日程調整などとても丁寧に対応してくださり、ありがたかったです。

I had my first horseback riding experience. Since all the explanations were in English and the other participants were also foreigners, I couldn't catch everything and felt a bit anxious, but I had a great time.

Riding the horse through the grasslands, running at times, and climbing hills was thrilling and very enjoyable. While walking beside the ranch and watching the cows and horses, I even spotted wild pigs in the distance. The weather was nice, and the scenery was beautiful. At the end, I was able to take pictures with the sea and mountains in the background, which made for great memories. When I checked in a little before 9 AM, I was a bit confused because the parking gate was closed, but after checking in, I smoothly rented a helmet, boots, and a jacket, and it didn't take long for the guide to help me choose a horse and get mounted.

Riding along with the guide across the vast grounds during lunch was very refreshing. My horse was Oliver, who had stylish striped hair, and my wife rode Vodka, a chestnut horse; both were great horses.

Along the way, our guide Jessica took some photos for us, and we returned a little after 11 AM, slightly exceeding our scheduled time. It became a wonderful memory.

I’m not good at English and it was my first time riding, but the 90 minutes flew by. We leisurely trotted through the beautiful grasslands with the best views, and at the end, we picked up the pace for the last 50 meters, which made my backside a bit sore, but it was so much fun! When I looked back, there was a rainbow, which made my heart even lighter. Japanese people don’t have a custom of tipping, but I happily gave about 10%—$10 per person for my family of three.

At the end of August, I participated with my wife and 9-year-old daughter. We joined another family, making a total of seven people. I wasn't very good at English, but after a simple orientation, we went horseback riding right away. We set off from the ranch together, and along the way, we could see the ocean and ventured into the mountains, enjoying the leisurely pace on horseback. Each horse had its own personality; some were laid-back, munching on grass slowly, while others were determined to stay in second place (with the guide's horse in first) and would hurry to catch up if they fell behind. I thought it was unique to the Big Island that we could ride for such a long time and see so many different places. My whole family said they enjoyed it, and if we have the chance, we would like to do it again. Thank you very much.

Very professional and nice guides. Great views with ocean, MT, cows, sheeps and wild pigs. The trail is very nice , mostly green grass, quite smooth ride. I am glad we did a bit canter, wish more though. Overall very fun and good experience!

Riding horses in the spacious ranch under the blue sky was very refreshing. The horses were very smart, so even beginners like us could enjoy it. The guides were two young women, and they looked really cool riding the horses. Perhaps due to the altitude or because it was the afternoon, it was a bit chilly with just short sleeves on the day we participated, as the wind was strong.

I thought the meeting point might be a little hard to find unless you pay attention to the directions (please enter through the entrance of 'Kahua Ranch' that appears on the right side after passing mile marker 11). After entering the property from the road, there was a simple door at the entrance to the parking lot that you had to open yourself, which made me hesitate a bit, wondering if I was in the right place. If the cars of those who arrived before me hadn't been parked there, I might have turned back.

The explanation before riding was in English only, but even someone like me, who struggles with English, could somewhat understand the meaning. There might have been many Japanese tourists, as out of ten people, eight were Japanese (three Japanese families and one couple from an English-speaking country).

Since it was a ranch, the terrain wasn't all flat; there were slopes, and we passed right next to where cows were grazing, allowing us to fully enjoy nature.

広々とした牧場と青い空の中での乗馬はとても気持ちがよかったです。馬がとても賢いので、初心者の私達も楽しむことができました。
ガイドは若い女性二人で、馬に乗る姿がとてもかっこよかったです。高所のせいなの午後だったからなのか私達が参加した日は風が強く半袖では少し寒いと感じました。
集合場所は、行き方の補足説明（マイルマーカー「11」を過ぎて右側にでてくる『カフアランチ』の入り口からお入りください。）を意識しておかないとちょっとわかりにくいかな、と思いました。道路から敷地に入り、その先の駐車場の入口には簡易的な扉があり、自分で開けて入るスタイルだったので、「ここでいいのかなあ・・」とちょっと躊躇してしまいました。先着してた方々の車が止まっていなかったら引き返したかも、と思いました。
乗馬前の説明は英語のみですが、苦手な私でも意味はなんとなくわかりました。日本人観光客が多いのかもしれません。この時は10人中8人は日本人（日本人３家族と英語圏のカップルが１組）でした。
牧場なので平らなところばかりではなく、坂道があったり、牛が放牧されている直ぐ側を通ったりと自然を満喫できました。

I was a bit anxious about my first horseback riding experience with only an English guide, but the bright and friendly Jackie and her team guided us with kindness. This was my second experience. Just like the first time, the 2.5-hour tour with the wonderful scenery and unique horses was a very enjoyable time. The guide only speaks English, but they communicate very clearly and understandably. They are very friendly and lovely people. I think it's a rare experience in Japan to be able to participate in such a long course as a beginner in horseback riding. There is an initial explanation on handling the horses, but since the horses are very smart and accustomed to the course, I felt there would be no problem if I left it to them. I would like to visit again.

I was worried about what would happen due to the unfortunate rain, but when it was time to ride the horses, the rain stopped, and the weather was just right! Since the temperature was a bit low, I wasn't too hot wearing a windbreaker over my short sleeves. All the horses were calm, and my younger child (9) had a great time riding. Along the way, the guide picked guava for us to eat! It was delicious. The guide was very fun, making jokes and giving us polite advice, which was great. The path down to the canyon was incredibly steep, which was a bit nerve-wracking, but the guide's driving was very skilled! At the end, the guide took pictures of each of us!

All the horses were very gentle, and riding in the beautiful, vast ranch was enjoyable. Since the wind is strong, it can get chilly even if it's hot, so I think it's a good idea to borrow a riding jacket and wrap it around your waist. Be sure to let your guide know when you want to put on or take off your jacket or windbreaker, and do this while the guide is holding the horse's reins.

Jackie, our guide, explained how to ride in very clear, slow, and polite English, which was great! Thanks to that, my 15-year-old child was able to enjoy it safely. We rode a somewhat lazy horse (who kept munching on grass), but thanks to Bridget, our guide's advice, we didn't spend all our time eating grass.

It's best to leave valuables in the car. The parking space is just before you can see the reception building. If you're worried about leaving things in the car, you can also have them stored in the reception office.

ガイドのジャッキーさんの乗り方の説明が、わかり易くゆっくりと丁寧な英語で話してくれたのでとても良かったです！おかげで、15才の子供も安全に楽しむことができました。私たちはちょっとlazyな（すぐに草を喰む）馬に乗りましたが、ガイドのブリジットさんのアドバイスのおかげで草を食べてばかりという事も無かったです。
貴重品類は基本的に車に置いてくるのが良いです。受付棟が見える少し手前が駐車スペースです。車に置くのが心配な場合には、受付の事務室でも預かってくれます。
乗っていた馬を降りたら、馬が頬ずりしてきて、とてもとてもかわいかったです！　素敵な体験をありがとう！また行きたいです。
