2. Where does it take place?

The adventure takes place on private land near Mount Waialeale, operated exclusively by Kauai Backcountry Adventures.

Anyone aged 5 and up, at least 43 inches tall, and under 300 lbs.

6. What should I wear?

Wear a swimsuit or quick-dry clothes, water shoes (no flip-flops), and reef-safe sunscreen.

7. Is the water cold?

Yes, the water is cool, as it comes from Mount Waialeale, but guides describe it as “refreshing” and “invigorating.”

8. Do I need to know how to swim?

No. The water is shallow, and all participants wear life jackets.

9. Are there tunnels?

Yes—five hand-dug tunnels from the 1800s, some up to a mile long.

10. Is it scary or fast?

Not at all. It’s a gentle, scenic float with occasional mild rapids.

For groups of 1-5 guests, there’s a 24-hour cancellation policy. Larger groups have extended cancellation periods.
