Month long trip Highlight

Posted on: 2015/11/02

This was an amazing day out. Hawaii Forest and Trail provide a very high quality service, phoning you the day before to confirm, plenty of drinking water, and good quality vehicles and meals. The guide Taj was probably the best I have ever had. He had such a broad range of knowledge: Geology, specifically volcanoes, Hawaiian culture, plants, birds and he was a really pleasant guy to be with. The trip itself really deserves the word awesome. You see the crater in daylight pretty special even though at present it just looks like steam coming out, hike on the lava with great description of the flows and the repopulation by nature. Down to the coast to see lava flows which have gone into the sea, none currently., dinner and sunset at the coast , a walk through a lava tubeand then the climax: going back to the Jagger Museum to see the outpouring in the dark. I can't describe it, you have to see it. One word of warning. Take note of the warnings about your lungs as the Vog is ever present and not really noticeable but I don't have any particular problems and felt like I had a cold for the next couple of days.

Driver arrived a little early but as I was ready we got moving. As The time was 4:30am I was glad to see him. A nice run to the airport with some cheerful chat from someone who obviously enjoys his job. He made sure he knew where to drop me and was able to advise me about facilities, important at that early hour.

One of the best activities of my trip

Posted on: 2015/10/17

This was a terrific day out. I have only snorkelled a couple of times and when we stopped off to snorkel, I learned more from Andrea than from anyone on preious trips. She also looked out for me as I am travelling alone and didn't have a "buddy". The area we snorkelled in was amazing, lots of different things to see. After the snorkelling we were dropped off at Lanai small boat harbour with a nice picnic lunch and lots of suggestions about how to spend our time. Boat trips out and back were both safe and exciting. Great activity, would thoroughly recommend it.

Worthwhile Day Out

Posted on: 2015/10/14

The Maui and Lanai providers were both very well organised which was particularly good as I had only been able to book this at the last minute. Bruce the guide and driver was knowledgeable and fun to travel with, a very pleasant man. He also gave me lots of good advice about where to go in Lanai City as I had opted to stay there for a while, He also ensured I knew how to get back to the ferry. The ferries were very well run.

Very efficient

The Roberts representative was waiting close to the entrance to Baggage Claim and showed me where to go for pickup and which carousel would have my luggage. The loader whisked off my luggage and got it in the bus but was very careful to check he had everything. The driver was very careful. The only snag was he didn't know where my hotel was and it was just as well I did. Despite this a very good service.
