I was a bit anxious since I signed up the day before and wasn't sure if my reservation was confirmed, but I received a confirmation email, which put my mind at ease! I participated in a morning group lesson by myself. Before going, I had some anxiety about attending alone, but there were three other people, and we quickly bonded and shared a fun time together. As for the lesson itself, we used a board that was significantly longer than usual. The next day, I thought about renting a board at the beach, but a local Japanese person warned me, "It's very dangerous, so be careful!" and I decided against it. I'm really glad I signed up for this group lesson. I highly recommend it.

I was really anxious since I was participating alone, but the pickup driver was friendly and spoke to me in Japanese, which made me forget my worries because he was really funny. The person who actually taught us how to surf didn't speak Japanese, but it wasn't a problem at all. The waves were small, so I was able to stand up, but if I could wish for something, I would have liked to ride slightly bigger waves for a longer time. I also enjoyed the conversation with the staff who spoke Japanese after we finished. Everyone on the staff was nice, and I'm satisfied with my choice to surf here for my first time. Additionally, there was a note in the email advising not to bring valuables, so I didn't take any money and couldn't give a tip, but it seems fine to bring valuables since you can store your belongings inside the shop!

It was great that I could ride easily in just two hours. The scenery was amazing!! However, the photo data I purchased at the end was corrupted and couldn't be read. I understand that such things can happen, but in other active options, I received a letter with contact information and methods in case the receipt and data couldn't be read. Unfortunately, I didn't receive that from Hands Harden. I even gave a proper tip... It's disappointing because I was looking forward to it.

I participated in a plan with hotel pickup on Sunday morning. A Japanese female staff member came to pick us up, and out of the 12 participants, 10 were Japanese.

At the beach, three staff members assisted us, so for beginners, joining a group is more than enough. When the waves came, they pushed the boards and signaled with simple Japanese phrases like "Paddle!" and "Stand up!" The lessons took place close to the shore where it was just shallow enough to stand. That said, we were in Hawaii, and there were plenty of waves for practice. After a while, some skilled participants were taken out to the ocean by one of the veteran staff members.

We were a couple in our 40s and 50s, the oldest participants. We usually exercise by hiking, but it required quite a bit of stamina. The other participants were mostly in their 30s, and you could clearly see who was tired and who wasn't. If you get tired, you can just float in the sea, but if you want to ride the waves, you obviously have to paddle out each time.

As mentioned in other experiences, there are no lockers for valuables. Everyone just places their belongings on a shelf in a visible area, but there always seem to be at least two staff members in the shop, and since it's a store, there are customers coming and going. It's best to bring only the minimum necessary, like some dollars for tips, to feel secure. There are no separate changing areas, so on the way back, you'll be putting clothes over your wet swimsuit. 他の体験談にもある通り、貴重品を入れるロッカーなどはありません。目立つ場所にある棚に全員の荷物を置くだけですが、お店にはいつも2人以上のスタッフが要るようですし、お店なのでお客さんの出入りもあります。最低限必要な、チップ用のドルだけを持って行かれると安心です。
仕切られた着替えるところもないので、帰りは濡れた水着の上に服を着て帰ります。他の体験談を読んだときは「えーっ」と思いましたが、ハワイの日差しと雰囲気では全く気になりませんでしたよ。

I had my two children take one-on-one lessons. Both the staff and surfers were friendly. My kids were able to stand up during the lesson and have developed a liking for surfing. I think the most challenging part of surfing is paddling, but the surfers pull you back out to the ocean after riding the waves, making it easier to focus solely on surfing. They don't help adults much with paddling, though! I will definitely use this service again when I go to Hawaii.

One thing to note is that while it's fine to stand, there are many rocks, so I think I need to be careful as my feet ended up all scratched. However, the waves weren't too high, and with the instructor's good timing, I believe anyone can stand up.

I participated in the lesson starting at 3 PM. There were a total of 7 participants, including myself, 3 Caucasians, and 3 Koreans, with 2 instructors. I was a bit anxious since I don't speak much English, but one of the instructors was mixed with Japanese and spoke to me using simple Japanese words. Half of the participants were Japanese. There was a Japanese woman at the front desk.

The board we used in the lesson was similar to a SUP board, so it's easy to stand on. Also, when a wave comes, they push you from behind, so I think even those without paddle strength can enjoy it.

Since this is primarily a "surfing experience" plan, I wouldn't recommend participating with the goal of improving your skills. The mixed Japanese instructor mentioned that after graduating from school, they might come to Japan and appear on Terrace House or not?

Great lesson for my daughter

I bought a private lesson for my 13 year old daughter. It was her first time surfing as we are from Colorado. She had her own instructor who provided great instruction and having 1 on 1 instruction helped us both to feel safe. The lesson came with a tshirt and pictures of her lesson which I thought was a great deal. My only complaint was that the adults in the group lesson often got in front of her so she had to sit down to avoid hitting them. They go over this in the beginning of the overall lesson so I don't blame the school, just maybe a reminder in the water would have been helpful. Overall it was an amazing experience that I would highly recommend.
