It's great that you can ask questions whenever you don't understand something. Hanauma Bay is rich in fish, and you can encounter a wide variety of them, making it feel like you're swimming in an aquarium. I was surprised that the fish didn't flee even when people were around, as it is a no-fishing zone.

This is a highly recommended tour where you can fully enjoy snorkeling!!!

I hope the coral will recover soon and that Hanauma Bay will return to its original beauty.

We LOVED this day! Dan & his wife were great! They took very good care of us, even making sure that those of us with cameras got a chance to take pictures of the beautiful fish (and the 2 sea turtles we saw). They provided us with cold water and snacks after our swim, which were much appreciated. I love that Dan took many pictures of us all with his camera, and posted them to Facebook for us to see &/or download later. My husband and I are both over 60, and I think they were a little concerned whether we could handle the swimming. But they stayed nearby and checked often whether we were OK (we were!) Most of our group was Japanese, with My husband & I the only "anglos". Dan was amazing at switching from Japanese to English and back, making sure that none of us felt left out of the conversation. We would definitely recommend this activity for anyone!

I was honestly a bit anxious since it was overseas and had fewer reviews compared to other tours. We waited on the first floor of the hotel for our pickup, wondering if they would really come. However, they arrived almost on time and were friendly from the start. There were three groups of foreign tourists, and they made sure to engage with everyone equally, which was wonderful.

I saw reviews mentioning that valuables could be stored, and I thought they would be kept in the car, but instead, they were stored in a lockbox on the beach. Also, I was instructed to wear my swimsuit beforehand, so I participated in just my swimsuit from the beginning. However, being in the water for a long time can get cold, so changing clothes is definitely necessary.

While there were some minor shortcomings in the guidance, both Dan, the husband, and Chie, the wife, were very nice people, making it a tour you can enjoy with peace of mind. I think it's recommended. Even if the weather is bad or we didn't see any sea turtles, that's just nature, so it's to be expected.

貴重品が預けられるという口コミを見ましたが、てっきり車の中に保管するのかと思っていたら砂浜に鍵の掛かる箱に保管をしました。
あとは、事前に水着を着用しとくように指示があったので最初から水着だけで参加したのですが、ずっと水に入っていると寒くなるので、やはり着替えは必要ですね。
若干案内不足なところは否めませんが、旦那さんのダンさんと奥様のチエさん共に非常に良い人で、安心して楽しめるツアーですのでオススメだと思います。
天気が悪いとか、海ガメにあえなかったとか言ってもそれは自然が相手なのですから当然のことだと思います。

I had only done snorkeling in Okinawa before. The sea in Okinawa was beautiful, but Hanauma Bay was incomparably more stunning.

On the day of the tour, a cheerful guide came to pick us up at the meeting point. The guide spoke Japanese very well and chatted with us casually during the drive. Thanks to that, we arrived at Hanauma Bay in no time. We received a briefing on sea etiquette and swimming techniques while putting on our fins and life jackets, and then we were off to the ocean! Perhaps due to the prior briefing, we were able to move around freely! When we moved to a slightly deeper area, a school of fish appeared right in front of us! I had never seen such a school of fish before!! After that, we were informed by the guide's friend about where to find sea turtles, and we set off to search for them. We successfully spotted a sea turtle. Although we shouldn't touch them, the turtle approached us closely, perhaps because it was used to people. It was so close that I was worried we might accidentally touch it.

After thoroughly enjoying Hanauma Bay, we were given well-chilled water and Hawaiian snacks on our way back. I was very grateful for that consideration, as swimming took more energy than I expected.

Next time I go to Hawaii, I would like to request the same guide again.

　足ヒレ，ライフジャケットの装着時に海でのマナー，泳ぎ方のレクチャーを受け，いざ海へ！事前レクチャーのおかげか移動も自由自在に！水深が少し深いところへ移動すると，魚の群れが目の前に！あんな魚群は初めて見ました！！その後はガイドさんの友人からウミガメがいる場所を教えてもらい，ウミガメ捜索へ．無事にウミガメを発見できました．ウミガメは触ってはいけないのですが，ヒトに慣れているせいかウミガメからグイグイ近づいてきます．触ってしまうのではないかハラハラするくらい至近距離でした．
　ひとしきりハナウマ湾を満喫し，帰り際にはよく冷えた水とハワイのお菓子をいただきました．水の中は思ったより体力をつかうので，その気遣いがとてもうれしかったです．

次回ハワイに行くときはまた同じ方にガイドをお願いしたいと思います．

Dan was the best. We had first class service the whole trip. Dan went out of his way to make sure the kids, as well as the adults, were comfortable in the water and we all had a great time because of the small group size. It was almost as if we had a personalized one on one tour. Snorkeling was great the day we went, we saw tons of fish! Everything from a parrot fish to schools of colorful little fish... and how could I possibly forget my daughters favorite, this little silver looking stick fish! Awesome experience with awesome people! A must-do while in Hawaii!! This is not something that you want to miss!

We had so much fun! The kids could not have had a better time. We were picked up promptly at our hotel in a clean and accommodating vehicle. We were given information about people, places, and things that we were passing on our way to the Bay to snorkel. Upon arriving at the Bay we were escorted in, past all lines, to watch a short information movie, and then taken down to the Bay via tram, as not to have to walk. Upon arrival to the actual Bay we were given instructions on how to wear, and use all the provided safety equipment. Upon making sure that we were completely comfortable, the the fun of snorkeling ensued... We had a great time.

I went to Hawaii for my first overseas trip. I was torn between Guam and Hawaii, but I decided to go to Hawaii since I was looking forward to enjoying my summer vacation. The day before, I did a little snorkeling at Heaven's Beach, but snorkeling at Hanauma Bay was a completely different kind of fun. Seeing the round, intricate shape of Hanauma Bay, I was moved by the clarity of the water and the beauty of the coral before even getting in. Watching the story of Hanauma Bay's creation and the ecosystem video made me realize that it is a place that is carefully protected.

Up close, the water was truly transparent, and it was an emerald green sea that I had never seen in Japan. As soon as I got in, there were lots of corals and many fish. Thanks to the veteran guide, I felt a sense of security and was able to see a sea turtle, which is not something you can easily encounter. Because of the guide, we were able to visit snorkeling spots that were just on the edge, as well as areas with incredible transparency that are far from the beach and hard to reach. I was really satisfied. Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay was an experience I will never forget because of the clarity and beauty of the sea. I had such a great experience that if anyone around me is going to Hawaii, I would definitely recommend snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. Thank you very much.

初めての海外旅行でハワイに行きました。グアムかハワイか迷いましたが、どうせいくなら、ハワイに行こうと決め、夏休みを楽しみにしていました。前日に、天国の海で少しシュノーケルをしましたが、ハナウマ湾でのシュノーケルは全く違う楽しさがありました。丸く入り組んだハナウマ湾を見て 、海の透明感やサンゴの綺麗さに海に入るまえに感動しました。ハナウマ湾誕生の話や生態系のビデオを見て、大切に護られている場所なんだと実感しました。
近くで見ると、ほんとに海が透き通っていて、日本では見ることのできないエメラルドグリーンの海でした。入ってすぐに珊瑚がたくさんあり、お魚も、たくさんいました。ベテランガイドさんならではの、綺麗なスポットや、安心感もあり、なかなか見ることの出来ないウミガメも二回みることができました。ガイドさんがいたからこそ、ギリギリのシュノーケルスポットや、珊瑚のギリギリのところ、浜辺から遠くてなかなか行くことが出来ない、透明感が抜群のところにも行き、ほんとに満足しました。ハナウマ湾でシュノーケルができて、一生あの海の透明感と綺麗さは忘れることはないと思いました。本当にいい経験が出来たので、周りにハワイに行く人がいたら、ハナウマ湾でのシュノーケルを是非勧めたいと思います。ありがとうございました。

Up close, the sea was truly transparent, and it was an emerald green that you can't see in Japan. As soon as I got in, there were lots of corals and many fish. I believe I will never forget the clarity and beauty of that sea after snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. 近くで見ると、ほんとに海が透き通っていて、日本では見ることのできないエメラルドグリーンの海でした。入ってすぐに珊瑚がたくさんあり、お魚も、たくさんいました。ベテランガイドさんならではの、綺麗なスポットや、安心感もあり、なかなか見ることの出来ないウミガメも二回みることができました。ガイドさんがいたからこそ、ギリギリのシュノーケルスポットや、珊瑚のギリギリのところ、浜辺から遠くてなかなか行くことが出来ない、透明感が抜群のところにも行き、ほんとに満足しました。ハナウマ湾でシュノーケルができて、一生あの海の透明感と綺麗さは忘れることはないと思いました。本当にいい経験が出来たので、周りにハワイに行く人がいたら、ハナウマ湾でのシュノーケルを是非勧めたいと思います。ありがとうございました。

This time, I participated in this tour because the sea in Heaven was not at low tide. I joined with a light heart, and I'm really glad I did. First of all, the instructors, a couple, were very kind and attentive. Although I had some snorkeling experience, it had been a while, so having the explanation in Japanese was a great help. If you're not confident in English, I highly recommend this! They stay with you throughout the snorkeling, so I think even children can enjoy it. The tour is only available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, but if you have the chance, you should definitely participate. They provide everything except for swimwear, and there's also a pick-up service to the hotel. It's okay even if you're not confident in snorkeling or can't swim! It was a pity that I didn't encounter any sea turtles (I snorkeled in the afternoon, but I heard there were turtles in the morning), but that's just luck... Instead, there were plenty of fish, and I swam for nearly an hour without getting bored. You might get tired occasionally, but if you do, you can return to the beach early and take a nap while resting. After snorkeling, we relaxed a bit while eating snacks, which was also very nice! Please give it a try!! I also want to challenge myself again to see a sea turtle when I come back to Hawaii. I'm truly grateful to the instructors.

今回、天国の海が干潮ではないためこちらのツアーに参加しました。軽い気持ちで参加したのですが、参加して本当良かったです。まずインストラクターの御夫婦が本当優しく丁寧でシュノーケリングの経験はあったものの久しぶりだったので説明が日本語だったのが助かりました。英語に自信がない方は是非！！またシュノーケリングの間も常に一緒にいて導いてくれるのでお子様でも楽しめると思います。ツアーは月水木金しか参加が出来ませんが機会があれば是非参加して欲しいツアーです。ツアーは水着着用以外、すべて準備してくれます、またホテルまで送迎がついています。シュノーケリングに自信がない方、泳げない方でも大丈夫です！！ウミガメに遭遇出来なかったのが残念でしたが（私は午後にシュノーケリングしたのですが、午前はウミガメはいたとのこと）これは運なので・・・そのかわり、魚が一杯いて一時間近く泳いだのですが飽きなかったです。たまに疲れますが、疲れた方は先に浜辺に帰って休みながら昼寝も出来ます。シュノーケリングの後はお菓子を食べながら、少しゆっくりします。それもとても良かったです！是非参加してみてください！！私もまたハワイに来たらウミガメに会える様、再チャレンジしたいと思います。インストラクターの御夫婦には本当感謝しております。

On my first trip to Hawaii, I decided to join a tour because it was difficult to travel far on my own. Even though the hotel I stayed at was quite local, they came to pick me up at the front desk. Both Chieko, who came to pick me up, and Dan, the guide, were very kind. Dan speaks fluent Japanese, so I think even those who don't understand English can participate with peace of mind. During the round trip, they shared various recommendations for delicious restaurants and information about the towns we passed through. They also provided information about the places we planned to visit the next day, which was very helpful.

After arriving at Hanauma Bay, we matched our fins and masks. They had a lot of sizes available, so I could use one that fit me well. They also took care of our valuables, and each person was lent a mat. The scenery at Hanauma Bay was stunning, and I was already moved before even entering the water. 初めてのハワイ旅行で、個人で遠くまでの移動が大変だったので参加して見ました。泊まっていたホテルが、かなりローカルホテルだったのにホテルのフロントまで迎えにきてもらえました。迎えに来てくれたちえこさんも、ガイドのダンさんもとても親切でした。ダンさんは、日本語ペラペラなので、英語が解らない人でも安心して参加できると思います。送迎の往復では、美味しいオススメのお店や通る町などについて色々教えて頂けました。翌日に訪れる予定の場所の情報なども教えて頂けました。とても役にたちました。ハナウマ湾に到着後にフィンやマスクを合わせます。サイズも沢山持ってきてくれているので自分にあったものを使えました。貴重品なども預かって貰えるし、一人に一つゴザを貸して貰えます。ハナウマ湾は、とにかく景色が綺麗で海に入る前から感動しっぱなしでした。海の中もとても綺麗でした。一緒に参加した友人が、シュノーケル初めてでしたが、ずっとガイドさんがフォローしてくれていたので、楽しめることが出来ました。ウミガメを探すのに結構泳ぎ、友人は少し疲れてましたが、初めて見たウミガメにとても感動していました。海からあがるとお菓子とお水のサービスまでありました。本当に楽しかったです。お昼にピックアップで夕方には帰って来れるので、帰ってからディナーや買い物に行く時間もあるので、短い滞在のかたにもオススメです。

This was my second trip to Hawaii with my friend. We were looking for activities to enjoy nature, and we came across this tour. Since it included hotel pickup, the meeting went smoothly. I thought it was considerate that they left a message on the hotel voicemail regarding time changes (although we didn't know how to check the voicemail and ended up waiting, haha).

Also, since the activity started in the afternoon, we were able to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before participating. It was my first time at Hanauma Bay, and I was amazed at how well the natural environment is preserved, and the sea was truly beautiful! We were fortunate with the weather, and the scenery was fantastic.

Our guides, Dan and Chieko, were very kind and provided excellent instruction, following us closely even in the water. At the beach in Hanauma Bay, we encountered mongooses and crabs! Underwater, there were schools of fish, as well as colorful fish, and the most impressive sight was the sea turtles. We were able to get very close to a sea turtle swimming gracefully. (Note: Touching sea turtles is prohibited in Hawaii.)

They provided snorkeling sets and mats for our belongings, and after the activity, there were drinks and snacks available. You can also leave a few valuables with them. They upload the photos taken underwater to Facebook, so you can download them.

It was so much fun that I will definitely participate again! Next time, I would love to try diving as well!

ハナウマ湾は初めて行きましたが、自然が大切に保護されていて何より海が本当にきれい‼︎天候にも恵まれて景色も最高でした。
ガイドのダンさん＆ちえこさんもとても優しく指導してくださり、海の中でもバッチリフォローしてくれました。
ハナウマ湾のビーチではマングースやカニに出会えます‼︎海の中では魚の群れはもちろん、色とりどりの魚たち、そして一番感動したのはウミガメ。優雅に泳ぐウミガメのすぐそばまで近づくことが出来ました。(注:ハワイではウミガメに触れることは禁止されています)
シュノーケルセット、荷物置き用のゴザを貸してもらえますし、終了後には飲み物とお菓子のサービスもありました。貴重品も少しなら預けることができます。

We have snorkeled at the circular-shaped shore of Hanauma Bay on the southeast tip of East Honolulu, you can imagine how this beautiful cove was once a volcanic crater. Today, this crater, likely flooded by wave erosion, is home to an important nature preserve and the island's most popular snorkeling destination.

Our snorkeling trip was arranged by Hawaiiactivities.com and they were quite professional people with prompt responses and is very customer oriented. They arranged Mr. Dan to train us snorkeling. Mr. Dan is best instructor you can have in Honolulu as he explained every steps in a legible and understandable way. He has snorkled with us for many hours.

Whether you’re snorkeling a natural or artificial reef, at the beach or along the mangroves, you’ll discover amazing underwater creatures. Look at (but don’t touch) the vibrant yellow and red coral canyons and purple sea fans swaying in the ocean’s current. Coral is actually alive and it’s extremely delicate. Touching coral is detrimental to its health and can also be dangerous. It’s actually related to the jellyfish and can provide a sharp sting, burn, or cut when touched. A good rule of thumb is to stay in water that’s at least six feet deep while snorkeling over coral.

Look for tropical fish including yellowtail snapper, parrotfish, angelfish, blue tang, grouper, and hogfish. We have come across with Turtle who is is not afraid to swim with us. With such a thriving and diverse ecosystem, there’s nearly as much to discover underwater in Hawaii as there is on land!

Dan took pictures with his under water camera. It was lots of fun. Dan brought snacks, drinks, etc. too. On the way back Dan shared lot of information on best shows and tours in Hawaii. We had a great time and will definitely go again if I'm ever in Hawaii.

This was my first time snorkeling and I came from Canada to visit Hawaii. It was a beautiful experience just because we have a great instructor Mr. Dan through Hawaiiactivities.com. We came to know him through this website. Dan started with all basic instruction and shown all steps for snorkeling in detail. He has snorkeled with us and kept my kids together and safe.


It was a magic day of snorkelling in the biggest coral reef on earth. Thousands of colorful fish in the warm water. Thanks a lot to Dan You're part of memories of a life time.

Dan brought all safety devices and snorkeling equipment. He adjusted the equipment to fit very well with each of us. As my kids were not good at swimming, Dan took much patience to train them. He brought mats and drinks to relax before getting into sea.

I saw dozens of very large angelfish, parrotfish (Blue, Queen, and Stoplight), as well as many species of damselfish and butterfly fish, Sergeant Majors, Yellowtail Snapper, and I even saw a Longspine Squirrelfish! It was an absolutely perfect day.

The water was very clear. At one point I was surrounded by hundreds of fishes all swimming calmly in one direction (schooling). All of a sudden they parted (odd, because I had been swimming with them for several minutes without them seeming to notice), and I saw the most awesome and colorful fish I've ever seen in my life swim 5 ft directly under me! I thought about was how every now and then you hear stories about HUGE catfish the size of Buicks at the bottom of deep lakes.


That being said, you can imagine my initial hesitation on the day of my snorkelling experience at I might have started out a little nervous, but I can tell you right now—it ended up being my absolute favorite experience on the trip.

The drivers were so nice and explained the island's history and helped us understand about hawaii.I LOVED IT!! I would recommend the dry snorkel and a life vest if you arent a good swimmer but defiantly the underwater camera because you see amazing fishes
