I woke up early with the kids and was excited to go.

I had heard that the captain would let us know if there were whales, but I couldn't understand in English, so I hurried to follow everyone else. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any whales. It's a natural occurrence, so I understand, but I started to think that maybe I don't need to try again.

We boarded a large ship and headed offshore from Honolulu. We could see the Honolulu skyline and Diamond Head, and we searched for whales at a distance quite close to the land.

When a whale is spotted, there’s an announcement on the ship saying, “There it is at the direction of ◯ o'clock,” so we can move smoothly. (laugh)

In the first half, the whales were so far away that we couldn’t see them at all without binoculars, and I wasn’t excited at all. However, in the second half, suddenly two whales came close to the ship! I was thrilled to see them spouting water and their fins with the naked eye! I felt the grandeur of nature. I highly recommend it! 😊

ちなみに、集合場所までは自分たちでホノルルのホテルからバスで行きましたが、ハワイのバス初体験の私でも無事に到着できました。ただし、バスの本数は少ないので、時間には要注意です。

After the show, we immediately got on the bus, so I thought it would be good to use the restroom after finishing the meal. I went whale watching in early February 2020. The weather was nice, but we couldn't see any whales. I thought maybe it was a bit early in the season since they apparently don't jump until after giving birth. The hotel sent a bus to pick us up, but it arrived more than 10 minutes late, which made me anxious that we might have gone to the wrong meeting place. Once the bus arrives, they call out names, so there's no need to worry while waiting. I opted for the breakfast option, but there wasn't much time, and the menu was quite limited, which was disappointing. The good thing was that the sea was beautiful! I hope this helps you.

I was worried about whether I would really be able to see anything based on the reviews, but from about 30 minutes after departure, I was able to see continuously. I couldn't see the large figure right in front of me, though... I didn't include breakfast, so I went outside early and watched from above. There were English announcements followed by explanations in Japanese, so I think it would be fine for those who don't understand English. Since this ship is large, I think even those who are prone to seasickness would be okay. On the way back, I asked the driver if I could be dropped off at Ala Moana, and I thought he said okay, but in the end, I was just passed by. However, I was able to get off without going to the pickup location, which saved me time for my plans afterward. Next time, I want to go on a slightly smaller ship.

We did the EarlyBird Breakfast Cruise on Jan. 22, 2020. It was wonderful. Easy to arrive and enjoy some breakfast before leaving. Food and drinks were well worth the price.
Shortly after leaving we saw the whale breaching amd we were all amazed.

I'm grateful that the captain tells us which direction to look for the whales. In fact, there were several whales in that direction, but we could only see their dorsal fins, which was disappointing.

A small boat was quite close to the whales, so even though it was a bit rocky, being in a smaller boat might allow you to feel the size and power of the whales more.

Breakfast was delicious, but I felt it was a bit pricey for what you get...

This was a great tour! Our driver/guide had lots of fun stories about history and culture of everything we saw. It was a good amount of time at each place.

The USS Missouri is great. Take the guided tour! Our guide had some great stories. I also enjoyed having time to explore on my own.

The USS Arizona Memorial and other memorials were very humbling. So grateful for the men and women who sacrificed their lives that day so I can enjoy the freedom I now have. It was quite humbling to stand over the tomb of those men in the USS Arizona. I also enjoyed the Walk of Honour. My only regret was not having enough time to explore the other things in and around that site.

This was a great starter tour to show me what I might like to do next time. The company from booking to resort pick-up and drop off to not having to navigate the traffic made it well worth the investment. I highly recommend this for everyone. I learned a lot!

I also greatly appreciated the poncho to use as we had rain off and on all day. Unexpected but awesome bonus!

This was my first time visiting Hawaii during this season. I signed up with the mindset of just being lucky if I could see anything, but it turned out to be an amazing memory. I could see the ocean on both the right and left multiple times, and the water was so clear that I could see reflections on the surface. My child was also very happy.
