Oahu
It is better than expected, it was wonderful. Thank you.
It was a great trip, food was amazing and the crew was a lot of fun.
It was a standard departure in the evening, but the rainbow we saw along the way was lovely. Be prepared for a tour that takes time for the round trip due to traffic and distance. It might be cold, possibly because of the rain or the night, so you’ll need to dress warmly (I mentioned it was cold, but it didn’t change much).
Don’t have high expectations for the meals. The dining area is nice, so let’s just accept that.
The show is quite different from 20 years ago; it has a narrative format with shadow animations that I think are quite impressive. However, my 80-year-old mother said she preferred the show from 20 years ago. There might be some nostalgia involved, and we were seated in the second-to-last row, which made it hard to see, so that could have contributed to her feelings.
This was my sixth dinner cruise out of Waikiki I will have to say that this was exceptional and far exceeded my expectations the staff was wonderful our waiter was just absolutely amazing she did a great job and the food was very good service went well entertainment was nice and all in all it was a beautiful cruise
The dance show was very interesting. It gave a sense of what Polynesian culture and customs are like, not just in Hawaii. The scenes where the lights were lit on both sides of the torches and where someone extinguished a flaming mat with their butt were impressive. The food was also substantial and satisfying, but it was disappointing that we couldn't drink alcohol during dinner since Mormons do not consume alcohol. I would like to request clear signage on the front of the buses at the meeting point, as various mini-tour buses come there.
Great time had by all, we went on Christmas Day, highly recommend to all, friendly and fun staff
The weather was great, and the show was held successfully. I got a bit lost on my way there and arrived just in time for the start, but since I had a premium seat, I ended up in the front row. The buffet had a lot of delicious food. The hula dance and fire dance were very impressive and exciting. In the conch shell blowing contest, a Japanese person won!
The sunset was absolutely beautiful! There were only my husband and I, along with one elderly parent-child pair, and the atmosphere was great with lively English-speaking guests! The staff didn't speak Japanese, but my husband and I, who can't speak any English at all, had no particular problems.
For those who will be boarding in the future, please note that a jacket is essential! I boarded on December 20, and it was very windy that day, so it got cold once we went offshore. It was also quite rocky! I'm not sure if there are restrooms available, but considering it's cold and you'll be drinking alcohol, please keep the restroom situation in mind when boarding.
We made our own fun. I had to drive, so no alcool for me, but the gf got drunk with their delicious cocktail and champagne. It was friday, so we stayed on the waikiki beach waiting in line for the beach restaurant ShoreBird, watching the fireworks and coming inside to grill our own fosh afterward. It was a great night. I recommend going on a friday. We wanted to go to Chinatown after, for the first friday of the month (they have a celebration) but we got lost, and it was too late. But the sunset sail itself was great. Not many seats, so we just sat on the floor.
It was beautiful, fun, exhaustive, but very commercial. I truly wanted to know more about the history of the first Hawaiian, but I was let down on that expectation. The dancers, the show at the end, the luau, the many islands with their respective activities were very interresting and beautiful, though. It's worth it, but dont expect it to replace the viewing of a good documentary. Also, the fact that this olace is ran by Mormons is extremely apparent through many not so subtle references in history plaques, or the simple fact that there was no alcool at the Luau. Still a solid activity, and it was worth it. We had the full day package (110, I think).
The show was truly wonderful, and the children were very satisfied. However, the food... it wasn't delicious, and perhaps because it was slow, there was very little food, so I couldn't eat at all.
Spending a day at the PCC is always a highlight of my visits to The Islands! Although it is a long day, it is an entertaining and extremely educational day. I strongly recommend that you take advantage of the Ambassador package since you will have a guide for the entire day and can enjoy either the luau or the prime rib dinner prior to the evening show. I did the luau this year and really enjoyed it. The night show is awesome!
Had a great time. Good food (and lots of it) and meeting new people is always fun. It was an intimate setting with a with a friendly and attentive staff. The performers were great; performing dances from the various Polynesian cultures. The view of the city lights from the ship was beautiful as was the sunset. Definitely recommend this dinner cruise for first timers and using the transportation that is offered.
After being asked by the female guide about my hometown and how many times I've been to Hawaii, we boarded the bus and departed a bit late. The guide was somewhat stern. Her explanations were fast-paced and lacked consideration. The food wasn't delicious (in my opinion), but my husband said it was just okay. The show was good; I was glad I had high expectations for that. On the way back, unlike the outbound bus, we shared the bus with people from other tours. The air conditioning was very strong, so please be sure to bring a jacket.
A trip to Hawaii to show appreciation to my elderly parents!
My parents participated in this option last time, and when I asked them where they wanted to go this time, the only place they wanted to visit again was the Polynesian Cultural Center.
I had been to Hawaii several times, but I had never been there, so it was my first time accompanying them.
Before going, I thought it was a bit childish, but the Japanese guides were very kind, and we enjoyed the activities at each station. Hearing about the center's background made me apologize in my heart for underestimating it until now.
The final show was truly impressive! I was deeply moved by the power and passion of the performance.
The only regret I have is that the meal took too long, and we couldn't participate in the backstage tour.
Next time, I want to take my children and go again.
In Honolulu for business, I had just one day free and wanted to make the best of it. Ending the day with the Chief's Luau was the best decision I could have made. The show was the best part, really phenomenal entertainment and well worth the price. The ride out to the venue held spectacular views. Loved the whole experience.
This was an awesome adventure. We had 8 people in our group and the crew was so courteous and accommodating in helping our 82 year old Mom to get on and off the catamaran. The Fireworks Friday Sail is a must if visiting Honolulu. We enjoyed and will definitely do this activity again when we visit. Everything was just perfect. Thanks.
The sunset before boarding the ship was also moving. I ended up getting seasick, which made it impossible for my girlfriend to enjoy the fireworks. I'm sorry, as the fireworks must have been amazing.
Nice bar and restaurant. Buffet salad bar with hot items, grill your own meat or seafood. Fun activity.
Beautiful night, great ride, well organized, good booze and tunes.
A must to do if staying in Waikiki
On November 13, 2015, I took my first ride on the Holokai Catamaran. I actually wanted to book the dinner cruise I used last time, but it was fully booked, so I signed up for this plan instead. In the end, I think it was a good choice.
The meeting place was Waikiki Beach, so I could walk there from my hotel, the Hyatt Regency. I changed into clothes that I didn't mind getting wet and headed out. However, there are two "Outrigger" locations on Waikiki Beach, which unexpectedly made me a bit anxious.
That said, I arrived at the meeting place safely and was able to participate. We set sail at 5 PM and enjoyed a sunset cruise while sipping cocktails and beer.
There was no guidance in Japanese, so I spent some time observing, but I quickly got used to it and enjoyed 3 to 4 cocktails while swaying with the waves. The boat was small, so everyone around me quickly became friendly, but unfortunately, a bit of English proficiency is necessary here.
We encountered a light rain along the way, but there was no place to escape, so I just had fun with the other foreigners around me. After that, a rainbow appeared over Waikiki, which felt like a great bonus. The sense of connection with nature on a small yacht, which you can't experience on a dinner cruise, was truly the best.
I was worried about the restroom situation, but it wasn't as bad as I had feared, which was a relief. Well, I think it's best not to have to go at all, but... this is just my personal opinion.
If I get the chance to go to Hawaii again, I would love to sign up for this again. Thank you!
Enjoyed the cruise! Although short, it was delicious, all you can eat crab legs, and there is some fun entertainment at the end! Fun times!
The weather was a little disappointing with some light rain but aside from that everything was fantastic. Fireworks were spectacular and the evening was topped off by a lovely bbq dinner - so good we went back again!
I participated in the Twilight Standard tour with transportation on November 23. The guide Hiroe on the way was very informative! It was a lot of fun! The evening at the Polynesian Cultural Center was magical. The staff were all students who greeted us with smiles. The dinner was served buffet-style, and the meat was cut right in front of us! It was very delicious ( ^ω^ ). The show was dynamic, and even the standard course was plenty enjoyable!
Got the ambassador pkg and the prime buffet. Most folks didn't get the prime buffet. Really enjoyed our time. For me the ambassador package and prime buffet option was really worth it. Even though I had the rental car I took the bus from Waikiki. I think the bus is a must since it was informative and enjoyable and funny and set the stage for fun. Veltra was awesome. They can easily get you booked and all set to go.
It was very convenient to depart from the beach in front of the Sheraton Hotel where we stayed. There were about 50 people on board, and we were the only four Japanese. All the crew and other passengers looked foreign, and the language was English ONLY, so we couldn't understand the detailed explanations at all, but it actually made it feel more like we were abroad, which was fun.
Feeling the wind and the splashes of the waves while watching the sunset over Waikiki Beach created a sense of unity that you can't experience on a large ship, and it was the best.
Although there is a restroom available, it seems you have to open a lid about 50 cm on the deck and go down a vertical ladder (I saw two men go down), so I wouldn't recommend it for women.
this cruise was bueatiful simple and just perfect. it was tight on space though. overall vary happy :-D
I took my friend on this dinner cruise for her birthday gift and it was very enjoyable. Every time I'm on the Makani Sunset Dinner Sailing Cruise alway over the top amazing, the atmosphere aboard was terrific with great music and great crew. The crew was fabulous! The night views from cruise were tremendous and the food was very well done too. If you want something special while in Hawaii, you should go. You can also enjoy the beautiful sunset from offshore. Only advice I would give is they start serving food almost as soon as ship pulls out of port, it is almost dark. Interrupt your dinner to go out on deck to take pictures. I feel like I did not get enough pictures of sunset because it seemed to get dark very fast.
I have always wanted to take a cruise in Hawaii and came across the Makani Sunset Dinner cruise and it seem like a great deal so I instanty booked it. They also offer shuttle service from Wakkiki which I took advantage of. I received a detail confirmation on the cruise, as well as a phone call confirmation. This felt very professional of the company. The cruise ship captain and crew was also very friendly, professional and made sure we were all having a great time! The weather was great and overall great experience. The food was buffet style, the offering was simple but the food was good. You get 2 drink tickets and it's good for any drinks. You can purchase additional drinks afterwards but the cost is very reasonable. I had fun and would recommend for anyone that wants a short cruise to see the island from the ocean. Thank you for great experience!
Our friends who had previously been to Hawaii, said that we MUST do one of these sailing cruises on a Friday night. They weren't wrong! This is a MUST do!
This sunset dinner sailing cruise was awesome! 9/10 I'll break it down.
The crew had charisma, they had explained everything in detail and they were extremely approachable for any questions. Excellent service! 5/5
The food was great! Island style means buffet style - my wife and I definitely weren't hungry at the end of the night! They even had cookies out for dessert! 5/5 on my books for food!
They didn't have a blender, but that didn't stop the bartender from making a mean Mai Tai! They had a wide selection of beer, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks. I tried a High Tide as suggested by the bartender, amazing! Personally I like my crushed ice. Still good though, for Drinks I gave a 4/5.
And most importantly the view of the fireworks was spectacular! Perfect view, the catamaran was right in front of the fireworks - everyone on the vessel could see the fireworks, there was no crowding. 5/5
