I read the reviews and thought, "This is it!" so I decided to participate. Just like the reviews mentioned, I rented a bike and first went to Kailua town to order pancakes to-go from Boots & Kimo's. During the 30-minute wait, I went to buy some Lanikai soap, then returned to the shop to have lunch with pizza and took a boogie board to the beach. After that, I went back to the shop, grabbed a snorkeling set, and rode my bike to Lanikai Beach. However, traveling with just two women, the boogie board was heavy, and even though I put on the snorkeling gear at Lanikai, I couldn't make it to the rocky areas and didn't get to see any fish. I regretted not just going to the middle of Lanikai Beach instead, so I give it four stars.

I was in a hurry, so I forgot to put on sunscreen when going to town, and I ended up with a bad t-shirt tan (-_-;)

慌てていたので、街に行く時に日焼け止めを塗り忘れてしまい、しっかりＴシャツ焼けしてしまいました(-_-;)

This was my first trip to Hawaii. I learned that Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach have been chosen as the number one beautiful beach in the United States, and I really wanted to go there. However, it was quite a distance from Waikiki where I was staying, so I used this tour. Since it was my first time in Hawaii, I decided not to rent a car or use THE BUS, and I was glad I chose this tour, which took care of the round-trip transportation!

I was able to rent a bike on-site for a fee, so I quickly rented one and headed to Kailua Beach first. The waves were higher than I expected, and the water seemed a bit murky, so I soon made my way to Lanikai Beach! The distance from Kailua to Lanikai was greater than I thought, so having a bike was definitely a plus.

Lanikai Beach had almost no waves, and the water was incredibly clear and beautiful! When I put on the snorkel I rented and went into the water... there were so many cute little fish! It was actually my first time snorkeling, but the calm, shallow water made it easy to enjoy.

After snorkeling, I got hungry, so I rode my bike to Kailua Town! I used a lunch ticket to go to a salad shop. I thought I would be having a salad, but it turned out to be a hearty sandwich. It was delicious, though!

Feeling satisfied, I then headed to Whole Foods Market! I bought granola bars and bulk granola with fruit for breakfast the next day. For those who want to be active, having a bike is definitely recommended!

カイルアビーチ・ラニカイビーチが全米ナンバーワンに選ばれた事のある美しいビーチだと知って、是非行きたいと思ったのですが、宿泊しているワイキキからは結構距離があり、こちらのツアーを利用しました。

ラニカイビーチは波がほとんど無くて、その分透明度が高くて本当に綺麗‼︎ お借りしたシュノーケルをつけて海に潜ったら…可愛らしいお魚がたくさん‼︎
実は初めてのシュノーケルだったのですが、浅くて波のない穏やかな海だったので安心して楽しめました。
シュノーケルを楽しんだ後は、お腹が減ってきたので自転車でカイルアタウンへ！ランチチケットを利用してサラダのお店へ行きました。てっきりサラダを食べられると思っていたら、ヴォリューム満点のサンドイッチでした。笑 でも、美味しかったです。
お腹も満たされたので、今度はWhole Foods Marketへ！翌日の朝食用にグラノーラバーで、量り売りのグラノーラとフルーツを買いました。
アクティブに動きたい人には、自転車があった方が断然オススメです。

I attended alone because my daughter is pregnant. The weather was cloudy, and unfortunately, we couldn't see the sandbar as shown in the photos, but we enjoyed snorkeling and had a great time. I recommend bringing something to wear because it gets cold when you get back on the boat.

The sandbar was incredibly beautiful. The white sand stretched on endlessly, and the water was only knee-deep, making it very comfortable. Initially, it felt like we could do anything, like banana boating or beach volleyball, but in the end, only a few people played beach volleyball. The hamburgers for lunch were freshly grilled on the spot, so they were delicious. We moved on to the next spot, but I wasn't able to see any sea turtles. Instead, I saw other beautiful tropical fish. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit unstable, and the water was slightly murky, which made me too scared to dive.

We were staying at Embassy Suites and gathered at the Sheraton parking lot at 6:05 AM. Since it was quite early, I recommend securing breakfast the day before and having it in your room. On this day, participants from Dolphin University and Dolphin Middle School shared a large bus. During the ride, there were discussions about dolphin ecology and snorkeling instructions. I recommend staying awake to listen, as there were many interesting and important topics. For a brief moment, we even saw the tree used in the "This Tree, What Tree" commercial from the bus.

After about an hour, we arrived at the port, where those interested could rent wetsuits for $10. Most participants rented them that day. The boat we took from Dolphin Middle School was an open speedboat, and it was quite windy on board, so renting was definitely the right choice. After using the restroom, we finally boarded the boat. We took off our shoes and sat on the edge of the boat. Our belongings were secured in the middle of the boat, tied with ropes to keep them afloat. During the bus ride, we received explanations, and as soon as we arrived at the port, we headed out to sea. According to the guide, if we depart late, we might have to wait if other tours are ahead, which reduces our chances to try again and meet dolphins. In that regard, Dolphin Academy has an advantage because of its smaller group size, allowing for quicker departures compared to the university. On the other hand, families can relax more, so the university is recommended for them.

The weather was clear, and although it was May, we didn't wear wetsuits and it wasn't particularly cold. Not everyone borrowed one this time, but it seemed to be fine. However, it can get chilly when the wind hits you after getting wet, so I recommend having a bag ready with a bath towel and a jacket.

Due to rain the previous night, the water clarity was a bit low, but we were able to see dolphins. About 5-6 dolphins swam about 10 meters away from us. I brought a camera, but it was quite difficult to get good shots. Fortunately, a professional photographer was there, and you can get photos for about $50. In my excitement of seeing the dolphins, I accidentally dropped my wedding ring, and if the photographer hadn't picked it up, it would have been a disaster, so I recommend removing rings and such in advance.

昨晩雨が降ったせいで透明度は少し低かったですが、無事イルカを見ることができました。大体5-6匹で10m先を泳いでいました。ただしカメラはもっていきましたが、きれいに映すのはかなりむずかしいです。そこについてはプロのカメラマンがついてくれるので、写真自体は50＄ほどでもらうことが可能です。
イルカを見れた興奮のあまり、気づかない間に結婚指輪を落としてしまいカメラマンさんが拾ってくれなかったら大変なことになっていたので、指輪等はあらかじめ外しておくことをお勧めします。

イルカの後は少し浅瀬に移動してカメやさかなをみられました。こちらは泳ぎに自信がある人はライフジャケットを外してもよいとのことでした。
カメは息を吸うときしか水面に上がってきませんが、この日は運よく何回も間近でカメを見ることができました。

一息ついたところでスープとスニッカーズ的な奴とパイナップルを配ってくれます。特にパイナップルは甘くておいしいのでおすすめ。

シュノーケリングと言っても、潜水などは必要なく基本的に浮いているだけなので未経験者も心配ないです。
注意点としては、更衣室等はないので濡れてもいい上着とパンツを持ってきておくことをおすすめします。

総評としてはイルカもカメも見れて、午前中で終わるので午後は買い物など違うことができるし、日本ガイドなので英語ができなくても安心で非常に良かったです。

We were delighted with this activity.

Nick the Captain and his 2 crew were excellent hosts, safety conscious and went out of their way to make the cruise enjoyable for the 2 couples on board. Normally there would be a few more people on the cruise but we lucked it that day

The cruise consists of a 15-20 minute cruise in a catamaran to an area well off Waikiki Beach known as a spot where Turtles come to have parasites removed by fish.

We then went snorkeling (flotation vests supplied and mandatory to use). One of the 3 crew on board was in the water acting as a guide and safety person. He quickly located some turtles and directed us to them. We saw numerous turtles, some small, some larger in the water below us and on the surface.

After the snorkeling we had the supplied lunch, basic but adequate although the bread rolls were a bit stale. Free soft drinks and 2 free alcoholic drinks if you wanted them included.

Then the crew set the sails and we cruised around up towards Diamond Head before heading back to port. All up a great trip and worth doing, recommended.

The wait time was short and everything went smoothly. The sandbar was beautiful, just as I expected. I was able to see fish while snorkeling. Additionally, I got to see sea turtles quite up close. However, for those who couldn't snorkel, there was some downtime, and I wished they could have been offered other activities to keep them engaged, as it felt a bit like waiting around.

The pickup time is at 6 AM. Please gather wearing your swimsuits.

Since we were staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, the pickup location was in front of the Ilikai Hotel next to the Hilton. It's easy to find as it's also a trolley stop.

A little earlier than the scheduled time, a small yellow bus, resembling a school bus, arrived. We boarded this bus and headed to the west coast, taking about an hour from Honolulu.

To quickly get out to sea from the harbor, the staff member on the bus provided us with important information and instructions. Although it was early in the morning, there was no time to sleep on the bus.

Regarding equipment, since the water is cold and those who are not good swimmers might find it easier to float in a wetsuit, we rented one for $10. Most of the tour participants rented wetsuits as well.

The dolphins we can see in this area are the Hawaiian spinner dolphins. They are named for their spinning jumps. They are about 1.8 meters long, smaller than the bottlenose dolphins often seen in aquariums, and they have a black coloration from their heads to their backs.

Upon arriving at the harbor, we put on our wetsuits and quickly boarded the Zodiac. After about 10 to 20 minutes of searching for dolphins, we spotted a group of around 30!

We positioned the boat ahead of the direction the pod was swimming and waited. When we saw the dolphins' dorsal fins, we all jumped into the water together at the signal.

This was my first time snorkeling so far out, and I’m not a strong swimmer.

I was really scared before jumping in, but...

It was absolutely fine!!

As long as you listen carefully to the staff and follow their instructions calmly, there's nothing to worry about. The snorkeling gear we used was good, and I didn’t get any water in my eyes or mouth.

When the staff member called out, "Look down!" and I peered below, I could see a group of dolphins swimming beneath us!!

That day, we tried four times and saw dolphins every time. Moreover, the captain skillfully positioned us at a spot with clear water. Truly a legend.

By the fourth time, I was able to see them up close, almost within reach. I didn’t notice it while snorkeling, but later when I reviewed the video from my waterproof camera, I was surprised to find that it even captured the sounds of the dolphins. It was a truly precious experience to get a glimpse into the lives of wild dolphins.

By the way, due to strong winds that day, snorkeling in shallow waters was not possible because the water was murky. If you are mainly considering snorkeling in shallow waters, it might be good to keep in mind that it could be canceled depending on the day.

Finally, we returned to the boat and enjoyed some fruit and warm tea, and we had the remaining snacks (pastries, juice, cheese, granola bars) after getting back on the bus. On the return bus, there was an announcement about the sale of photo data taken by a professional photographer. I purchased some photos, and they beautifully captured the scenes during the briefing and the dolphins we saw that day.

Personally, I would have loved to hear more detailed information about the ecology and population of Hawaiian spinner dolphins, as well as the relationship between Hawaiians and dolphins.

For those who want to swim with dolphins for the first time, I truly think this is a fantastic activity. Thank you for the valuable experience.

この地域で見られるイルカはハワイアンスピナードルフィンという種。ジャンプするときにスピンすることからこの名前がついているそうです。
サイズは水族館でよくみるバンドウイルカより小さい1.8m程で頭から背中にかけて黒くなっています。

港へ着くとウェットスーツを着て、早速ゾディアックに乗り込みます。
イルカを探しながら進むこと10～20分くらいたったでしょうか、30頭ぐらいのグループを発見！

群れの泳ぐ方向へ先回りして船でスタンバイ。イルカの背鰭が見えてきたら合図と共にみんなで一斉に海へ飛び込みます。

私はシュノーケリングをこんなに沖でやるのは初めて。しかも、泳ぎも不得意。

飛び込む前までは凄く怖かったのですが。。。

全く問題ありませんでした！！

お姉さんの話をよく聞いて落ち着いてその通りに動けば何も心配はいりません。
使ったシュノーケリングの器具もよかったのか、目や口に水が入ってくることもありませんでした。

「真下を見てー！」というお姉さんの声で下を覗きこむと何匹ものイルカの群れが泳いでいるのが見れました！！

この日は4回トライし、4回ともイルカを見ることができました。しかも、水の濁りも少ないポイントで待ち伏せてくれた船長の腕は確かなものです。さすがレジェンド。

4回目にいたっては手が届きそうなほど間近で見ることができました。
シュノーケリング中は気づかなかったのですが、後で防水カメラのムービーを見返したら、なんとイルカの鳴き声まで収録されていてビックリ。
野生のイルカの生活を覗かせてもらうことができた本当に貴重な経験でした。

ちなみに、この日は風が強かったため海が濁っているということで浅瀬でのシュノーケリングは無しでした。
浅瀬でのシュノーケリングをメインで考えられている方は、日によっては無くなるケースがあることも想定しておいた方がいいかもしれません。

最後に船にもどりフルーツと温かい紅茶をいただいて、残りの軽食（菓子パン・ジュース・チーズ・グラノーラバー）はバスに戻ってからいただきました。
帰りのバスでプロの写真の方が撮影した写真データの販売案内があります。写真を購入したのですが、レクチャー中の風景や当日に見たイルカの写真までとってもきれいに獲れていました。

あと、個人的にはハワイアンスピナードルフィンの生態や生息数、ハワイアンとイルカの関わりなどについてもっと詳しい話が聞ければもっと嬉しかったです。

初めてだけどイルカと一緒に泳ぎたいという方には本当にとてもいいアクティビティーだと思います。貴重な経験をありがとうございました。

Although we were past the departure time, we waited for about 20 minutes. The sandbar was beautiful enough to see from a distance, but it was deeper than I had imagined, with a depth of about 100 cm. Also, the water temperature was surprisingly low. The sea turtle watching was a bit far away, and I was unlucky. During snorkeling, I got stung by a jellyfish and had to give up halfway; I wanted to enjoy it a bit more. There were others who got stung as well. The sea in heaven was more beautiful than I imagined. Although there wasn't a sandy beach, it felt great just to walk around, and you can take wonderful photos.

Lastly, when I returned to the boat after swimming, it was quite cold, so I think having a light jacket would be convenient.

It took about an hour by bus from Waikiki (I was mostly asleep, so I’m not sure, haha) to arrive. The weather was bad along the way, with downpours like a tropical rainstorm, but it was cloudy when we got there. At least it wasn't raining, but it was quite cool.

Once on board, I sat wherever I liked and we set sail. Along the way, I saw a lot of army training planes, which was amazing! I also caught a glimpse of some sea turtles, which was nice.

When we arrived, the view was breathtaking, just like in the pictures! It was cloudy, which was a bit disappointing, but it was truly beautiful! According to the guide, the tide was the lowest it had been recently, but by the time we got off the boat and headed to the sandbar, the water was already up to my waist, haha.

The snorkeling was beautiful and a lot of fun! One thing I regret is that after swimming, it was cool, so I should have brought a change of clothes or something like a hoodie to throw on. I also brought a Ziploc bag for my phone to take pictures, but I really wish I had prepared a more serious waterproof case.

ワイキキからバスで1時間位？(ほぼ寝ててわからず(笑))で到着。
途中天気も悪くてスコールの様な雨が降ったりしたけど到着したら曇り。
雨が降ってないだけ良かったけど結構涼しかった。
乗船してから好きな席に座って出港。
道中アーミーの飛行訓練の飛行機がたくさん見れてすごかった！あと海がめも少し見れて良かった。
到着したら写真みたいな絶景！曇ってて残念だったけど本当に綺麗だった！！
ガイドさんによると最近で1番潮が引いてるって言われたけど船下りてサンドバー向かう時は
既に腰までつかっちゃう(笑)
あとシュノーケリングも綺麗で楽しかった♪
反省としては泳いだ後は涼しいから着替えかパーカー等の羽織る物をもっと持って行けば良かった。あとは写真撮るために携帯用にジップロック持ってったけど、やっぱりもっと本気の防水ケース用意して行けば良かったって後悔。。。

It seems that taking the bus can be quite a hassle, so if it's your first time, it might be better to go on a tour from Waikiki (according to someone who joined me). Hanauma Bay is incredibly beautiful and just like the pictures. However, when it comes to the fish, there aren't many, and if you're used to snorkeling, you might find it a bit lacking. I expected to see a more overwhelming number of fish, but it was just a trickle. We snorkeled for about an hour, but the little kids couldn't handle the cold and went back with their mom. We boarded the boat at the port and set sail. On the day I went, I was very lucky and was able to see a pod of dolphins about ten minutes after leaving the port, and I also spotted two turtles. When we found the dolphins, we went ahead, and at the captain's signal, we jumped into the sea. The water was incredibly clear, and you could see the bottom. Watching the dolphins swim effortlessly right next to us was truly beautiful, and I couldn't take my eyes off them. When we found another pod of dolphins, the instructor swimming with us gave directions like "toward the mountains" and "out to sea," and we swam in that direction. After swimming for a while, we got back on the boat and repeated the process at different points. According to the explanation, there are times when it’s hard to find dolphins, and you might swim for a longer time. I thought that could be tough for those without much stamina, so I was glad we saw them quickly.

Throughout the trip from the port to the boat and back, a photographer was with us, taking commemorative photos and capturing beautiful shots of the dolphins and turtles. 港でボートに乗りいざ出航。私が行った日は、とても運がよく、港を出て１０分ほどでイルカの群れに会うことができ、カメも２匹は見ることができました。イルカの群れを見つけたら、先回りして、船長の合図で海に飛び込みます。海はすごくきれいで、底が見えるほどでした。自分たちがいるところのすぐそばをイルカがすいすい泳いでいく様子は、本当にきれいで、目が離せませんでした。また新たなイルカの群れを見つけたら、一緒に潜っているインストラクターが「山のほう」「沖のほう」と指示を出してくれ、そちらに泳ぎます。しばらく泳いだらボートに上がり、また違うポイントで海に入って泳ぎ…を繰り返しました。説明によると、なかなかイルカの群れに会えず、もっと長い時間泳ぐこともあるそうです。体力がない人にはそれは大変だなぁと思いました。すぐ見れてよかった。
港からボートに乗りまた港に帰ってくるまで、ずっとカメラマンさんがいてくれます。ちょこちょこ記念撮影をしてくれ、イルカやカメの写真もとてもきれいに撮ってくれています。帰りのバスで、写真購入の案内をしてくれるので、ツアー中は無理に自分たちで写真を撮らなくても大丈夫だと思いました。
海から上がったときには、クッキーバーやチーズを用意してくれていますが、寒いので温かいお茶が一番おいしかったです。５月末でしたが、ウェットスーツを着用してよかったです。海から上がったあと、ボートで移動するときは濡れた体に風が当たり、寒くなると思うので…。
全体的には大満足のツアーでした。スタッフの皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。
