The ship was large, and there was no rocking at all, but unfortunately, we didn't see any whales. It seems that it really depends a lot on luck...

船は大きく、揺れは全くありませんでしたが、肝心の鯨は見れませんでした。

Very fun, we had a great time. Definitely the best way to enjoy a true Hawaiian sunset.

The departure location was also close to the hotel where I stayed. Although it was the arrival day, the meeting time was just right. I usually watch fireworks from the beach, but seeing them from the sea was powerful and moving. Even though I was traveling alone, I made friends with a pair of women at the meeting place and was able to have a great time.

I had a great and refreshing experience last time, so I decided to repeat it. Unfortunately, I couldn't see the wonderful sunset like I did before, but it's still recommended as a great way to wrap up your trip.

前回たいへん楽しく、爽快だったのでリピートしました。残念ながら前回のような素晴らしい夕陽は拝めなかったのですが、旅の締めくくりには時間的にもお勧めです。

This is my second time participating.
There was no guidance in Japanese, and more than half of the passengers were non-Japanese, but that international vibe is GREAT! While feeling a bit tipsy with Mai Tais and sparkling wine, I chatted with the foreigner next to me, saw a pod of about 20 dolphins jumping up close, and witnessed a very beautiful sunset—all for a great price!!
By the way, wearing rain gear or a jacket for warmth is essential!

日本語の案内もなく、乗客は半分以上日本人以外ですが、その海外感がＧＯＯＤ！マイタイやスパークリングワインでほろ酔い気分の中、隣の外国人とも会話して、20頭くらいのイルカ群れのジャンプも間近で見て、とっても美しいサンセットも見て、このお値段は安い！！
ちなみにレインウエアやパーカーなどの防寒着は必須ですよ～

I've always wanted to ride on a catamaran that I see at the beach. This time, my wife and I, along with another couple, boarded the boat. There were few Japanese guests, mostly foreigners, with about 50 people on board in total.

Under the cheerful captain's signal, we departed from the beach in front of the Sheraton. Drinks were served right away as we headed out to sea. The drinks were all-you-can-drink, with Mai Tai being the main offering, dispensed from a tap similar to a draft beer server. There were also options for beer, champagne, and non-alcoholic beverages.

We sailed around the back of Diamond Head and returned. By the time we came back, we were able to enjoy the night view of Waikiki during sunset, which felt like quite a bargain. I highly recommend it.

*Note: You won't be able to use the restroom for about 1 hour and 30 minutes during the cruise, so be careful not to drink too much.*

前々からビーチで見るたびに一度乗ってみたいと思っていたカタマラン。
今回、我々夫婦と友人夫婦4人で乗船しました。
日本人客は少なく、ほとんど外国の方でした。総勢50名位が乗船。
陽気な船長の出向の合図のもと、シェラトン前のビーチを出発。
すぐに飲み物が配られ、沖へ向かいます。
飲み物は飲み放題。船名となっているマイタイが主で、生ビールのサーバーのような注ぎ口からマイタイが出てきます。ビール、シャンパン、ノンアルコールなどもあります。
ダイヤモンドヘッドの裏手まで航行して戻ってきます。
サンセットと戻る頃にはワイキキの夜景まで見る事ができてかなりのお得感。
お薦めします。
※航行中約1時間30分トイレに行けないので飲みすぎは禁物です。

I woke up early, but it's disappointing that I couldn't see any whales. When you can't see them, you can get a re-boarding ticket, but the period is too short. Since I went on the last day of my trip, it ended up being a waste of money. My kids were also disappointed, which made me sad. I wonder if it's really true that there's a 95% chance of seeing them. If I ended up in that remaining 5%, that's just too unlucky.

朝早く起きたのに、くじらが見られず残念。。
見られないときは再乗船チケットもらえるけど、期間短すぎ。。
旅行最終日に行っちゃったから、結局お金の無駄になった。。
子供もがっかりしてて、悲しくなった。。
95%の確率で見られるって本当なのかな。
その残り5%になったなら、運悪すぎる。。

In December, it was a bit chilly, but I was able to slowly enjoy the sunset sinking on the horizon! Also, I was surprised that the captain spoke Japanese so well! I was a bit anxious since there were few Japanese participants, but thanks to that, I was able to have fun! Luckily, I encountered whales and dolphins! It was a wonderful cruising experience.

12月の参加で少し肌寒くもありましたが、水平線に沈むサンセットをゆっくり見ることができました！また、船長さんも日本語が上手でびっくり！
日本人の参加者も少なく不安でありましたが、おかげさまで楽しむことができました！運良くクジラや、イルカにも遭遇！

We gathered at Aloha Tower in the morning. The shuttle costs $14, so we took THE BUS, which was fine. A whale seemed to appear for a moment, but we couldn't see it due to the boat's location. Still, we enjoyed the beautiful views of Diamond Head and the hotels. It was a bit disappointing, though...

朝からアロハタワー集合です。送迎は１４ドルかかりますのでTHE BUSで行きましたが問題なく行けますよ。一瞬クジラは現われたようですが、船の場所の関係で見れませんでした。それでも、ダイヤモンドヘッドやホテルの美しい景色は楽しめました。残念でしたが・・・

We participated with a friend to relieve the fatigue from the Honolulu Marathon. We had a great time taking videos and photos, and interacting with others who participated in the marathon. The ship was luxuriously designed for its size (it’s not that big, so it can sway easily). The night view of Honolulu from the sea was beautiful.

I had low expectations for the food and was prepared for the possibility of seasickness, which is why I thought, "It was as I expected." I believe it's important to read various experiences carefully and think about them, which I will elaborate on later.

Above all, newlyweds should be particularly cautious, as seasickness and the night view can be greatly affected by the weather. The day we boarded was cloudy, and the ship swayed more than I anticipated (it was unsteady enough to make walking difficult). We enjoyed ourselves without getting seasick, but I saw newlyweds who were both feeling unwell, and one was down while the other was supporting them. Depending on the weather, it could turn into a terrible tour, and it was sad to see.

Regarding the food, it was "quite disappointing." I can't say it was delicious. The cake was "just sweet" (buffet style). We chose the second-highest lobster course, but it felt more like "Instagram-worthy." I think it would be wiser to have a slightly fancy dinner at a hotel for the price we paid. I recommend going without expecting much from the food. We were satisfied to eat lobster, which we rarely have the chance to enjoy, but... expectations should be kept low.

Upon boarding, a welcome drink was provided, but the deep blue cocktail had a very disappointing taste. I regretted not choosing the pink juice.

The dress code was relatively casual. We went in dresses suitable for going out, enjoying a bit of style, but a cardigan is essential (in December). It gets a bit chilly with the night breeze.

The number of participants was quite large, possibly due to the timing of the Honolulu Marathon, which was a bit disappointing as it didn’t create a relaxed atmosphere.

私達はホノルルマラソンの疲れを癒すために友達と2人で参加しました 私達は動画や写真を撮影したり、ホノルルマラソンに同じように参加した人との交流など楽しい時間となりました。船の中は大きさの割に豪華な作りになっていました（そこまで大きな船ではありません。つまり、揺れやすいです。）

「思っていた通りだった」というのは、食事を期待しなかったことと、船酔いしてしまう可能性を覚悟していたからでした。後ほど詳しく書きますが様々な体験談をしっかり読んで考えるべきだと思います。

なによりも、新婚旅行の人は特に注意が必要です船酔いも夜景も天気に大きく左右されるからです。私達が乗船した日は曇りで思った以上に船が揺れました。（歩くのはフラフラするくらい）私達は酔わずに楽しめましたが、新婚旅行で来られていた方々が2人ともダウンしていたり、片方がダウンして寄り添っていたりと天気次第では最悪なツアーになる可能性があります。見ていても可哀想な状態でした

また、食事に関しては「かなりイマイチ」です。美味しいとは言えません。特にケーキは「甘いだけ」でした。（バイキング）私たちは上から2番目のロブスターのコースにしたのですが、「写真映えする」と言った感じですこの金額を払うのならば、ホテルで少し豪華なディナーを食べる方が賢いと私は思います。
行く方は食事は期待しないで行くことをお勧めします。私達は滅多に食べる機会のないロブスターを食べられて満足でしたが、、、期待はしてはいけません。
乗船するとウェルカムドリンクが用意されていますが、濃いブルーのカクテルはとてもイマイチな味ですピンクのジュースを選べば良かったと後悔しました。

服装は割と自由でした。私達はお出かけ用のワンピースでオシャレを少し楽しむ感覚で行きました羽織るカーディガンなどは欠かせません。（12月）夜風を浴びるので少し寒いです。

参加人数はホノルルマラソンの時期だったからかとても多く、ゆったりとした雰囲気ではなかったのは少し残念でした。

I participated in a sunset sailing for the first time. The meeting place was conveniently located in front of a hotel on Waikiki Beach, and I was really looking forward to it since it was my first time on a yacht. Unlike a cruise on a large ship, I think the thrill of being on a yacht and the closeness to the crew and other passengers is a big attraction. The crew was friendly, and there were many drink options, which was great. However, the strong rocking of the boat and the cold as the sun set meant that I couldn't get a refill of cold drinks, even with the all-you-can-drink option. I think it can be enjoyable, but it gets quite cold, so warm clothing is essential.

初めて、サンセットセーリングに参加しました。
集合場所もワイキキビーチのホテル前で便利でしたし、ヨットは初めてでしたので、とても楽しみにしていました。
大型船でのクルーズと違って、ヨットならではのスリルとクルーやほかの乗客の方との距離の近さが魅力だと思います。
クルーもフレンドリーで、飲み物の種類も多くてよかったです。
でも、かなりの迫力の揺れと、日が暮れての寒さで、飲み放題でも冷たい飲み物のおかわりはできませんでした。
それなりに、楽しめると思いますが、かなり寒いので防寒は必須です。

I was worried about finding the check-in location, but I quickly figured it out, which was a relief. Among the crew and passengers, we were the only Japanese, but that actually made me feel more like a traveler and lifted my spirits.

For the first drink, almost everyone had a sweet cocktail, but after quickly finishing that, we enjoyed unlimited champagne from the second drink (not sure if it was Champagne). Other passengers talked to us, but let's do our best with gestures here.

We toasted while watching Waikiki illuminated by the sunset, toasted again while enjoying the sunset, toasted to the night view of Waikiki, and finally toasted to the supermoon. It was the best cruise that provided various scenes.

Note 1: You will get wet up to your knees when boarding.
Note 2: Warm clothing is essential.

受付場所が分かるか不安でしたが、直ぐに分かり一安心。
受付のスタッフからクルー、そして乗客を含め日本人は我々のみでしたが、逆に旅行に来てる感があって気持ちも上がりました。
スタートの１杯目はほぼ全員、甘めのカクテルですが、さっと飲みほして２杯目からはシャンパン飲み放題(シャンパーニュかは未確認)
他の乗客から話しかけられましたが、ここは身振り手振りで頑張りましょう
夕日に照らされたワイキキ見ながら乾杯、サンセットを見ながらまた乾杯、ワイキキの夜景に乾杯、最後はスーパームーンに乾杯と色々なシーンを提供してくれる最高のクルーズでした。

Our Captain Ryan and bartender Phillippe were great. Nice way to see the fireworks. We weren't interested in drinking, but the bar was open.

The staff was kind, and although the food didn't quite suit my taste, the service was excellent. For the price, there was a generous amount of offerings, and as it was my first time participating, I was very satisfied.

I have used the Star of Honolulu countdown before, and I recommend the Polynesian Show version. The jazz performance I attended previously had a nice, calm atmosphere, but the countdown really needs to be lively! The fireworks were beautifully visible right in front of us. However, the dinner with tough and flavorless steak and an incredibly chewy lobster was quite disappointing, so let's just say that was part of the experience...

以前もスターオブホノルルのカウントダウンは利用しているのですが、ポリネシアンショーバージョンがおすすめです。以前参加したジャズ演奏も落ち着いた感じがそれなりに良かったのですが、やはりカウントダウンは盛り上がらなきゃ！花火も真正面に綺麗に見えました。しかし硬くて味のないステーキと噛みごたえが半端ないロブスターのディナーはかなりお粗末なので、その辺はご愛嬌という事で。。。

Best service, show and this young woman was my server the first time I went n I was so surprised when I show her the picture that I took the first time that she remember me and my OHANA . my experience overall was fantastic and that's why I decided to do it again...MAHALO for this beautiful and wonderful experience...

I feel like overall this was a good experience. The original booking was cancelled due to weather, but they were great about rescheduling (or cancelling altogether if we wanted) since it was weather. We went with another couple and were glad that we did. However, we did this more as a surprise and didn't have as much info as we should have (like someone not being great on boats). Despite that it was a fun experience. Like many things, it is what you make of it. The food was fine and the drinks were apparently good (I can only speak for the ones I tried but I enjoyed them). Once you get out on the water you kind of have to make your own activities since you are on a boat and that's the whole point of the experience.

If you want to have an enjoyable time on a boat, its a great experience, but if you come hoping to be entertained or something then you will be disappointed. For the price its not terrible (with the rebate). Going with a positive mindset makes for a good time. Good company also helps.

I was looking forward to seeing whales, dolphins, and turtles, but I was disappointed that I didn't see anything. It's no good to have too high expectations. The weather was nice, so the view was good.

A friend and I both took our ladies on a surprise sunset cruise with Makani Catamaran and it was fantastic. It was definitely one of those experiences that was so much fun time flew right by.

The great thing about this catamaran cruise is that you launch out of Kewalo Basin on a slip, not off of a beach like some Waikiki cruises. This means that if you want you can really dress however you like- shoes, jeans, dresses.

Once you get on the boat, you're introduced to the crew and they go through the obligatory house-keeping topics: Crew introductions, location of bathrooms, safety items, where you can go on the boat, etc. Then they go over how food and drinks work.

Food for us was a buffet of five items: Veggie/tofu wraps, rice, potatoes, shoyu(soy sauce) and ginger chicken- which was the best in my opinion, and beef stir fry. Each item had one tray's worth of food, which was easily enough to satisfy everyone on board, although I don't believe there were any left overs. I've read reviews stating the food was a little nicer than Panda's Express, and that seems like a very fair statement.

The cruise came with one free drink. On the boat non-alcoholic drinks are $2 and alcoholic drinks are $6, and the more alcoholic ones like Long Island Iced Teas are $8. You can buy a commemorative cup for $8 which holds about twice as much as the disposable cups you would get otherwise. Our bartender made good recommendations based on what flavors I told him we were looking for.

The best part is just being out at sea with the people you're with. Aside from the crew instructions at the beginning, it's very hands-off. You just wander around the ship enjoying your company and great views. Although it can get a little windy, it's quiet enough that you can converse at a normal volume easily. If you get cold you can spend a few minutes on the inside of the boat to warm up a bit.

If this is within your budget, I highly recommend it. It's simple, clean, and fun.

My first time in Hawaii! My first countdown cruise! It was amazing! Welcoming the New Year in another country with a countdown of 3, 2, 1! People from all over the world came together and shouted "Happy New Year!" The food was delicious, and there were goodies on the table, making it a very enjoyable and dreamlike moment! I definitely want to participate again.

初ハワイ！初カウントダウンクルーズ！最高でした！他国で新年を迎える、3.2.1のカウントダウン！どこの国の人も１つになって、ハッピーニューイヤーを叫びました！食事も美味しく、テーブルには、グッズが置かれて、とても楽しく夢のようなひと時でした！また、是非参加したいです。

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see any whales. The day before my participation, there was record heavy rain, so I was worried about the weather, but fortunately, we were blessed with good weather. I decided to enjoy the cruise around Waikiki instead of focusing on whale watching.

I think the cruise duration was about an hour and a half. If whales can be seen from that distance, it seems they come quite close to the Waikiki area.

I signed up for a course without breakfast, but I thought at least drinks would be provided, so it might be a good idea to bring water or bottled drinks.

Also, I heard that if you don't see any whales, you can get a ticket for the next cruise, but I didn't hear anything about that. Where should I inquire about this?

残念ながらクジラは見れませんでした。参加前々日が記録的な大雨だったので、天気が心配でしたが、幸いに好天に恵まれ、クジラウォッチングではなくクルーズと割り切ることにして、ワイキキ周辺を楽しみました。
クルーズ乗船時間は賞味1時間半程度かと思います。あれくらいの距離の移動でクジラが見られるのでしたら、ワイキキ周辺近くまで近づいてくるのだなと思いました。

朝食なしのコースで申し込みましたが、飲み物くらいは出されると思っていたので、お水やペットボトルのﾄﾞﾘﾝｸを持ち込んだ方がいいかもしれません。

それから、クジラを見られなかったときの次回乗船券をいただけるということでしたが、そういったお話しはなく、これはどこで聞いたらいいのでしょう？

The food and Polynesian dance were great. I participated alone, but I was able to chat a bit with a Japanese couple sitting next to me. I also thought that having a designated waiter for each table contributed to the smooth service.

料理もポリネシアンダンスもよかったです。一人参加だったのですが、隣の日本人夫婦の方と少しお話ができました。また、テーブルごとに担当のウエイターが決まっていることも、スムーズな対応につながるのだと思いました。

The Capt and crew made the experience so much fun! The water, the weather, the skyline- the drinks! Highly recommended the specialty of the boat. Again - can’t say enough about the crew - very personable and engaging!

I went sailing around Waikiki on the yacht Makani! I had been on several dinner cruises with the Star of Honolulu, but since it's a large ship, I didn't really feel like I was on the ocean. However, the Makani is much closer to the water, which gives you a real sense of being at sea. Once we got out a bit, it became a quiet and comfortable sailing experience.

Additionally, I had a surprise encounter with a whale! It was just a fleeting moment, so I couldn't capture it on camera, but it was truly moving to see it in such a setting. I definitely want to board again next time.

ヨットのマカニ号でワイキキ周辺をセーリングしました!
スターオブホノルルで何回かディナークルーズをしましたが、大型船なのでイマイチ海にいる気がしませんでしたが、マカニ号は海面とも近く、海にいる実感が湧きます。ある程度海に出た時点でヨット走行になるので静かで快適です。
さらにサプライズが、なんとクジラと遭遇しました。一瞬だったので、カメラに抑えられませんでしたが、こんな所でもっと感動しました。
また次回も乗船したいと思います。

I was expecting a ship for about 100 people, but it turned out to be a boat for about 30 people. The food tasted good, but there were few options and it felt cheap for the price. Alcohol was unlimited up to two drinks, but for those who don't drink, it didn't matter. I was really disappointed that it was so different from what was advertised on the website.

100人程度の船と思っていると30人程度のボートでした。食事の味は良かったですが種類が少なく値段の割にチープです。アルコールも2杯までが、飲み放題となっていましたが、酒を飲まない人には関係無く、どこまでもホームページと違うのにはほんとガッカリです

We departed while there was still daylight and enjoyed the view of Diamond Head and the streets of Waikiki from the sea as the sunset transitioned into the night. It was a wonderful tour where I could enjoy various drinks like Mai Tais, beer, and champagne, creating great memories. The captain and staff were very friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcome even when I asked for refills multiple times. I have been to Hawaii more than ten times, and if I have the chance to go again, I would love to do this tour once more.

まだ、日のあるうちに出発して、夕日が沈む時から夜景まで海からダイヤモンドヘッドやワイキキの街並みを眺めつつ、マイタイやビール、シャンパンまで色々と楽しめて、とても良い思い出に残るツアーでした。
また、船長やスタッフの方もとても気さくで良い方で、お代わりを何度もしても気持ちよく接してくれて良かったです。
これまでハワイには１０回以上行ってますが、次回行くときがあればまた行きたいと思います。

You will wait for about 30 minutes at the meeting point. After taking a group photo with your boarding pass, you will board the boat. Since you will be wading in seawater up to your knees, please wear shorts or a skirt and bring a towel to dry your feet. The explanations will all be in English, but I think you'll manage even if you don't understand everything. It can get cold on the boat when the sun goes down, so it's good to have a proper jacket, especially for Japanese people. I found it tough in a thin shirt during the second half. The restroom is quite basic, so it's better to take care of that beforehand. It was a lot of fun to enjoy drinks and chat with people from various countries. I would like to participate again next time on a Friday.

集合場所で30分程待ちます。搭乗券名目でグループ毎に写真を撮ってから乗船。膝下まで海水に浸かるので、短パンやスカート着用、足を拭くタオル持参下さい。説明は全て英語ですが、出来なくても何とかなると思います。船上は日が陰ると寒いため、日本人的にはしっかりした上着があると良いです。薄手のシャツで後半辛かったです。お手洗いは簡素なものなので、事前に済ませておく方が良いかと思います。色々な国から来た人と飲みながら盛り上がり、とても楽しいひと時でした。次回は金曜に参加したいです。
