This time, we participated with five family members, three from my sister's family, and five from a friend's family. Previously, I saw the hula at the Polynesian Cultural Center, but the food was mediocre and it was far away, so this time, being able to walk there during our stay at Aulani was very appealing.

I applied for either front or box seats, but we ended up in the back box seats. With the cheaper seats, photos were an additional charge, and it was buffet style. However, with the package that included photos and served meals, we received coupons for $20 for adults and $19 for children, which allowed us to buy drinks and souvenirs. It was very helpful to have things brought to us, especially with kids.

Before the show started, we had a great time taking photos, making leis, and the dancers even painted Polynesian tattoos on our arms. The food started with a salad, which had about three different kinds and was delicious. The portions were huge! Next came pork, chicken, and fish, all served with rice, and everything was tasty.

After the meal, we enjoyed the dance show! The hula and fire dance captivated the children, and when it got dark, the stars were truly beautiful. I really felt it was worth coming.

Since it's in Ko Olina, I think it's far from Waikiki, but considering the food and service, I believe it was worth the trip.

I was surprised by Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. They really looked alike. The hula dance and fire performance were impressive, and I enjoyed a genuine American show.
The food was not great. The meat was tough, and the seats were cramped. I had trouble communicating with the staff in Japanese, but a person at a nearby table helped me.

The experience from the beginning to the end was immaculate. The food was great! The show was hilarious and very entertaining! The lei they greet you with is beautiful and handmade just for you! Great time! Best luau experience! The family was incredible! Husband said it was the best pulled pork he has ever eaten!

We had a great time, celebrated our anniversary! The family that hosted the luau was wonderful and we were impressed with every aspect of the luau. If you are staying on Waikiki beach, be prepared for an hour drive to get there. We didn’t account for that length of time so we didn’t get to appreciate the hiking available beforehand.

I sat towards the center tables to the left. I couldnt see anything because the performers sit too low on the stage. Also many people in the front seats (as if they already not happy enough with their view) would stand up and block our view. I missed the fire show. :(

Exciting Hawaii Show ドキドキのハワイショー

I participated in a Hawaiian show in Hawaii that I was looking forward to with my wife.

The meeting place and schedule were as planned, and they provided transportation by bus without any issues.

The local Hawaiian show, including hula dancing and fire dancing, was so much fun!!

However, there was no Japanese announcement on-site, so I couldn't keep up with the vibe. There were hardly any Japanese people there. If I could speak a little more English, I think I would have enjoyed it more and been able to communicate with the people at my table!

The host was funny and great knowledge about his own culture and traditions. It’s our first time so I wouldn’t be able to compare with other Luau. The show was about the different Polynesian cultures dance so just not only about the fire dance that gets everyone excited. It shows you the dance and the cultures. The Waimea fall is not flowing right now secondary the drought, ( last time occurred in 1992) so my family was little disappointed that couldn’t see the fall and swim in the pond. Look at bright side, this doesn’t happen all the time and I got to see a waterfall without water. Wished there was some warning ahead and I would have planned differently. Otherwise it was still a nice trail for family to walk.

My whole family loved this luau! The fact that it also includes entry to the park is a steal; it's beautiful! Our host was very funny and personable. I loved that they have cultural activities like showing the people attending the luau how to open coconuts, and weave leaves into a headband. The food was good, and the host was giving special shoutouts to people who were celebrating things like anniversaries, graduations, etc. The people who were doing the dances did great! Even my sister that's 3 years old was super entertained. You really get a family feel at this luau; shoutout to the 9-year old kid who was doing some fire dancing as well! It was awesome and I definitely prefer giving my money here than some random resort doing shows. The vibe is 10/10!

Kind of disappointed…

The show was overall good, especially the fire dance at the end. And the chief is quite talented because he needs to run the show, tell jokes and play drums.

Anyway,
This luau is inside the water park, and we use the restroom inside the water park which is a 5 minutes away from the luau place. Before the sun goes down, it’s very hot and sweaty. And we don’t have much space while seating. The experience was not pleasant.

Also, after everyone takes a picture and ready to seat down, they give u a cup of mai tai and takes one of the drink tickets. Don’t take that Mai Tai drink right away, just go to the bar section for the drinks.

And there are one thing I can’t figure it out, before the buffet starts, they showed us a roast pig and said this is gonna be one of the main course tonight. And everyone go line up for the buffet, the only dish pork-related is the pull pork which has nothing to do with the roast pig for sure. And they didn’t cut the roast pig in front of everyone. It looks like the roast pig is one of the actor for the luau.

For the price we are paying, we expect more.

This was an all day tour and we’ll worth doing the deluxe package. Wes was our driver. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Even though it rained we still got to see sights from the bus! Polynesian culture center was outstanding. I thought I was getting luau but it was a buffet. But the Breath of Life show was worth the whole day!! Outstanding!!!! Highly recommend adding this to your package!

The friendly staff and outgoing nature of the performers kept my husband and I engaged and satisfied the entire time! Great outdoor space for the little ones! Can’t beat the view!!! Definitely worth the trip to roam the legendary grounds of The Royal Hawaiian.

Get there early for sure. Games and activities were fun. Make sure to watch the pig coming out of the ground! Food was good but not great but the show during and after dinner was really good. Left there not regretting spent the money.

The pre-show activities ? None of those happened.
I was really looking forward to experience their culture but NO. When we got there, we were welcomed (speech and all that) then lined up for food and drinks then the show started.

I paid for a VIP royal package expecting my experience will be smooth… The only distinction between VIP and non VIP is the table arrangement and priority line for food but doesn’t apply if you wanna get drinks… which was very inconvenient.

Bottom line, I didn’t get my money’s worth.

I reserved a front-row seat. The host only spoke in English, so I couldn't understand anything they were saying... but I knew this in advance and could get the vibe, so I accepted that. The problem was the food.

After the drinks were served, the appetizer? It was served in a bento box-like container, and it was bad. Then we were served a plate with a mix of chicken, beef, and pork. Not many people around me finished their meals. We paid nearly 100,000 yen for this meal. What a letdown. The show itself was only good during the last 15 minutes. I was glued to the fire dance, but before that, it was a bit dull.

I booked this hoping my kids, who are visiting Hawaii for the first time, would feel the essence of Hawaii, but I'm not sure if it was worth the hefty price.

I only attended the show without dinner. The staff were all wearing masks, but most of the guests were not, so I made sure to wear my mask and used hand sanitizer before and after the show to minimize risk. I also prepared extra masks just in case, as I was a bit concerned about droplets from the outside.

As a note, as of August 2022, a negative PCR test certificate is required for entry into Japan, so I acted a bit cautiously, but I think it's definitely possible to enjoy the experience if you take the necessary precautions. Of course, I was able to return home safely with a negative test result.

スタッフの皆さんはマスクをしていますが、鑑賞しているお客さんはほとんでどマスクしていないので、リスク回避のためにしっかりマスクして、携帯用の消毒薬でショーの前後で消毒するなどの対策をして楽しみました。マスクも一応外側の飛沫が気になるくらいではあるので、替えを用意しています。
前提として、22年8月時点で日本入国にはPCR陰性証明が必要になるなど、すこし注意深く行動しましたが、対策をとっていれば十分楽しめると思います。
勿論、検査結果陰性で無事帰国できています。

A great experience for the whole family. The show had a variety of dances and songs; and the performers were great. Also, being right on the beach with the sunsetting over the water and the lights of the cityscape in the night sky, it made for some beautiful pictures. We would definitely do it again.

I didn't have any concerns about infection since we were all facing the same direction watching the show or eating quietly. When you show your voucher at the entrance, you receive a card. The card has $20 loaded onto it, which can be used for drinks or shopping at the concession stand. You can enjoy some leisurely activities while waiting for the show to start, like riding in a canoe. The teriyaki chicken was delicious.
