Beautiful Ride! We just missed the hurricane that was forecasted to hit the island. There was no rain and the weather was fantastic. We did the beginner ride which took about an hour. We were able to see other animals on the farm. The farm is massive; over 600 acres I believe. Next time I would like to do the intermediate or advanced ride. The staff was very professional and polite. The tour guide was kind enough to give us a background of the history of the farm. I would definitely return and recommend to anybody that this horseback ride was beautiful and romantic. Try the sunset ride if you go with your significant other :)

The pickup for the Island Makana Tours' canyon horseback riding plan was at the Hyatt Regency's Core Street entrance, which was as crowded as Hachiko Square. Around 9:40, we arrived at Dole Plantation. Since we only had 30 minutes, I gave up on riding the Pineapple Express train that runs through the park, but just strolling through the pineapple fields felt great. Around 10:40, we reached Turtle Beach. Unfortunately, we didn't see any sea turtles. We dropped off the free time plan participants in Haleiwa, and around 11:15, we arrived at Waimea Canyon. It rained heavily on and off, but we started horseback riding. At one point, I slipped to the right along with the saddle, but I managed to keep holding the reins and stood up on the ground. After the horseback riding, everyone was soaking wet, and I was surprised that we couldn't borrow even one towel. Around 13:15, we arrived in Haleiwa Town. I had garlic shrimp at the Camaron Shrimp Wagon ($13.60). The line at Matsumoto Shave Ice was too long for me to consider waiting, but there was another shop nearby with a shave ice sign that had only staff inside.

I had about two and a half hours of free time in Haleiwa. Thanks to that, I was able to leisurely walk from one end of the town to the other. I also got to take photos of Haleiwa Wings, which made me happy.

However, I only passed by new places like Haleiwa Store Lot, so if I could wish for anything, I would have liked an additional 30 minutes.

ハレイワでのフリータイムは、2時間半ほどありました。おかげで、ハレイワの町を端から端までゆっくりと見て歩く事が出来ました。『Haleiwa Wings』の写真も撮る事が出来て、満足です。

I booked this for my teenage daughter and I and we loved it!
The ranch is gorgeous and the scenery was amazing. The horses are beautiful and well cared for and the staff are patient and really nice.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone. We did the 1 1/2 hour scenic ride which is perfect for beginners and riders with minimal experience.

It took about an hour and a half to arrive without getting lost from Waikiki. I was really anxious since it was my first time renting a car and I wasn't used to the navigation system, but I was relieved to find it in such an easy-to-find location. I was about ten minutes late for the meeting time, which pushed past the scheduled start time, but we were able to start horseback riding without any issues. There were no Japanese staff or participants who spoke Japanese, but as long as you know some basic English words, communication wasn't a problem.

The ranch is very spacious, and there are plenty of animals like goats and birds roaming around, which is quite soothing. The horseback riding lasted an hour and a half, and for someone who hasn't ridden in a while, it was a sufficient amount of time to the point where my backside started to hurt. When we reached the top of the mountain, we were able to see the ocean, which was a beautiful spot for photos.

I enjoyed horseback riding at a leisurely pace, and on the way back, we were able to stop by the nearby North Shore. Compared to other optional tours where you have to stick to a schedule with others, this experience allowed us to move at our own pace, making for a day that felt relaxed both in mind and time. If I were to go horseback riding in Hawaii again, I would definitely want to come back here.

初めてのレンタカーでナビにも慣れないままのレンタカーでとても不安だったのですが本当に分かりやすい場所にありホッとしました。
集合時刻に１０分ほど遅れて予定開始時刻を過ぎましたが問題なく乗馬を開始できました。
スタッフや他の参加者に日本人や日本語が通じる方はいないのですが、最低限の英単語を知っていれば会話も問題なかったです。
牧場はとても広く、ヤギや鳥など動物もたくさん放牧されていて癒されます。
１時間半の乗馬でしたが久々に乗馬をしたわたしはお尻が痛くなるほどの十分な時間の乗馬でした。
山の頂上へ行くと海が見えるとてもきれいな場所で写真も撮って頂けました。
時間たっぷり乗馬を楽しめ、帰りは近くのノースショアへ立ち寄ることができ、他の方と行動を共にするオプショナルツアーよりこちらの方が自分たちのペースでゆっくり自由に行動ができ、心にも時間にも余裕のあった１日でした。
ハワイで乗馬をするならまたここでしたいです。

It's been a while since I visited North Shore. In the town of Wailea, the garlic shrimp at Camaron was very delicious. Horseback riding was a one-hour experience that flew by, even while being tossed around by "Buster" (the horse's name) who wouldn't listen to anything I said, all while enjoying the beautiful ocean view.

久しぶりのノ－スショア。ワイレアの町ではカマロンでのガーリックシュリンプがとてもおいしかったです。乗馬は、美しい海を見ながら、何も言うこと聞かない「バスタ－君」（馬の名前）に翻弄されながらもアッという間の１時間乗馬でした。

The scenery was beautiful, the horses were adorable, and I was able to enjoy nature.

This tour focuses on horseback riding, but you can also stop by the Dole Plantation (for about an hour) and do some sea turtle watching (for about 10 minutes) along the way. However, since these are just side stops, you might not want to expect too much from them. The main horseback riding experience was great for beginners, as they teach you from scratch. The terrain was surprising, as I didn't know there were such forested areas in Hawaii. However, the driver, who was with us the longest, could speak Japanese but didn't talk much, so the hospitality was a bit lacking... Everyone seemed to be sleeping during the ride.

*Note: The horseback riding can get quite muddy, so make sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.*

Riding on the back of a slowly walking horse while gazing at the beautiful sea was truly enjoyable. It was my first time riding a horse, but I was able to get on easily without feeling scared. I think the horse was quite old, so I felt grateful for the ride and hoped it would do its best to walk, but I was just so happy to have my first horseback riding experience. My husband said that a shorter time would have been fine, but I wanted to go riding for the same amount of time every day. As for clothing, I thought that as long as I wore sturdy footwear (like sneakers), it would be fine, just like when sightseeing.

ゆっくりと歩く馬の背中に乗り、とってもキレイな海を眺めながらの時間は本当に楽しかったです。馬に乗るのは初めてだったのですが、怖い思いもせず、簡単に馬の背中に乗れました。たぶん、かなり高齢の馬だと思ので、乗せてくれてありがとうございます、頑張って歩いてくださいねって感じもありましたが、私は初乗馬が嬉しいばかりでした。主人は、もっと短い時間でも良いと言いましたが、私は同じ時間ぐらいを毎日でも乗りに行きたかったです。服装は足元さえしっかりしたもの(スニーカー等)を履いていれば、他の観光するときと同じで大丈夫だなと思いました。

I rode at Sweetheart for two days on July 11 and 12 (the canter course was an additional $10). It takes about two hours to get there from Ala Moana by The Bus. There were a lot of children, possibly because Hawaii's schools are on summer break. When we arrived, there was no one at the reception. After informing a wandering person that we had a reservation, a staff member came out, and we signed a waiver before preparing the horses. The four of us enjoy riding outside both domestically and internationally, so we came here intending to gallop. As expected, we were able to ride at speeds of 40 km or more. However, I think it's important to inform the guide about the speed you are comfortable with, as it can be dangerous if you haven't experienced this level of speed beforehand. The canter within the riding club is limited to about 20 km, which feels like shifting from third to fourth gear in a car. We had lunch on a hill overlooking the North Shore, but the lunch box in the horse's saddle pocket got all mixed up due to the up-and-down vibrations. On the second day, we decided not to bring lunch and ate after returning. Also, the stirrups are often too long for Japanese riders, so if they don't fit, it's important to adjust them (or switch to a child’s saddle if adjustments aren't possible) to avoid falling off during canter or gallop. I believe it's better to communicate, even in broken English, regarding speed and other matters, as accidents are the rider's responsibility. Compared to riding in Japan, the sense of freedom is completely different, making it an excellent ranch for those who want to ride fast. (The walking course is just for walking, and the canter course is optional.) It's a pity that the time for each course is predetermined, limiting the options available.

7/11,12の２日間スｲートハート（キャンターコースはオプションで$10アップでした）で騎乗。The Busでアラモアナから2時間で行けます。ハワイの学校が夏休みに入ったのか子供たちがいっぱい。我々が着いても受付に誰もいません。うろうろしている人に「予約している」と告げるとスタッフが出てきて免責の書面に各人サインしてから馬の準備。我々4人は内外地で外乗で走ることを楽しんでいますので、ここでもギャロップで走るつもりで来ました。内容は予想通り40Kmかそれ以上のスピードで走ることが出来ました。ただし、事前にこの程度の速度を経験していないと危険ですので、ガイドさんにはどの程度で走るかを指示しておく必要があると思います。乗馬クラブのラチ内での駈足は20Ｋｍ位までですので車で言うとギアが３速から４速に上がる感じです。途中ノースショアの景色を見下ろせる丘でランチですが、馬のゼッケンのポケットに入れてあったランチボックスの中が上下の振動でグチャグチャになっていました。２日目はランチを持って行かないで戻ってから食事にしました。また、鐙は日本人には長すぎることが多いので、自分に合わない場合は妥協しないで調節（調節出来ない場合は子供用の鞍に替えてもらう）しないとキャンター、ギャロップでは落馬につながります。速度の点も含めて片言ででも英語で意思疎通が出来た方が良いと思います。事故は自己責任ですので。日本での外乗と比べて解放感がまったく違い、速く走りたい方には絶好の牧場です。（歩くコースは歩くだけ、キャンターコースはオプションです）コースによって時間が決まっており選択の巾が少ないのが残念です。

I wanted to visit the filming location of Jurassic Park, so I joined a two-hour tour starting at 11:00. The views of the mountains, grasslands, and the beautiful ocean were absolutely wonderful.

The horses were very well trained and took us on a leisurely stroll. Our group consisted of six people: my husband and I, one Japanese woman, and a family of three from Australia, along with one female staff member.

Perhaps because there were many Japanese tourists, the riding staff spoke a minimal amount of Japanese (like "danger," "please go right/left," "straight," etc.), so I think even those who are not good at English will manage.

I was told that we couldn't take any bags while riding, so I didn't bring my smartphone, but I regretted that decision. I thought if I had brought it with a strap around my neck, I could have easily taken photos with one hand. (It’s okay to hold the smartphone with one hand for photos, but you must hold the reins with the other hand, or you’ll quickly be warned in broken Japanese with "danger.")

Right after we started our walk, the staff took individual photos for us, but they cost $15 each. Since they were printed quickly, the quality wasn't great. I hesitated for a moment about buying one since I didn’t take any photos while riding, but ultimately decided against it.

For our belongings, we received a key for a coin locker ($5 each) at the ticket office, but when we arrived, all the lockers were already full, so they kindly stored our things for free in a room at the ticket office.

There were also souvenirs, a food court, and a smoking area. I bought half a papaya ($2) from the food court's refrigerator, which was ready to eat, and it was perfectly ripe and delicious after the ride!

Fortunately, we had great weather and enjoyed ourselves, but even with the 11:00 start, it was a bit hot walking in the sun on the grasslands without shade (though there were occasional shaded spots that felt nice and cool). A sun visor, hat, and sunglasses are essential, and make sure to wear a hat that won't blow away in the wind.

If you're driving from Waikiki, I highly recommend bringing a swimsuit and towel. The ocean below while riding was truly beautiful, and I wished I could stop by the beach on the way back! There were several families playing at the beach, though I'm not sure if they were locals. However, please be cautious as the waves can be quite strong; while bodyboarding might be fun, just floating around isn't advisable.

This tour is really a slow stroll, so it might be a bit lacking for experienced riders (intermediate or advanced). I thought maybe a one-hour course would be fine next time, but after swaying on the horse's back for two hours, I felt very relaxed and even a bit sleepy towards the end. I recommend the two-hour course for a leisurely and relaxing experience.

P.S. I didn't have much muscle soreness the next day.

日本人の観光客が多いからか、乗馬のスタッフの方々は必要最低限の日本語（あぶない、右へ／左へ行ってください、まっすぐ、等）を話しましたので、英語が苦手な方でもなんとかなるとは思います。

乗馬の際、荷物は持って行けないとのことでしたので、スマホも携帯しませんでしたが、持って行けばよかったと後悔しました。ポケットから落としたりしたらいけませんので、首からストラップをかけてスマホを持って行けば、さっと片手で写真撮影できたな、と思いました。
（片手でスマホを持ち写真撮影はOKとのこと、もう片方の手は必ず手綱を持っていないとすぐにカタコト日本語で「あぶなぁい」と注意されます。）
お散歩スタート直後に、牧場のスタッフが一人ずつ写真を撮ってくれますが、1枚15ドルでした。当然スピード印刷ですので、画質はよくありません。乗馬中の写真はひとつも撮らなかったので、一瞬買おうかと迷いましたが、やめておきました。

荷物は、チケットオフィスでコインロッカー（1つ5ドル）の鍵をもらい、すぐ近くにあるロッカーに保管出来ますが、我々が行った時にはロッカーはすでに満杯で、チケットオフィスのお部屋で無料で預かってくれました。

お土産やフードコート、喫煙所もありました。フードコートの冷蔵庫に、すぐに食べられる状態のパパイヤ半分（2ドル）が売られていたので乗馬後に頂きましたが、ちょうど食べごろでとっても美味しかったです！

ありがたいことにお天気に恵まれ、楽しめましたが、11:00スタートでも木陰がない草原を歩いている時は日が当たって少し暑かったです（でもちょこちょこ木陰があり、そこは涼しくて気持ちよかったです）。サンバイザーや帽子、サングラスは必須です、風がありますので、飛ばされないような帽子をどうぞ。

ワイキキから車で行かれる方は、是非水着とタオルを持って行かれたら良いと思います。
乗馬中に眼下に広がる海は本当にとてもきれいで、帰りにビーチに寄りたかった！！！と思いました。地元の方々なのか分かりませんが、ビーチで遊んでいる家族連れが何組かいらっしゃいました。但し、波が結構ありますので、ボディボード等はとても楽しいかと思いますが、ぷかぷか浮かんで遊ぶ、というのには不向きですのでご注意ください。

このコースは本当にゆっくりお散歩なので、乗馬経験者（中級、上級者）には物足りないかもしれません。
次は1時間コースでもいいかな、と思いましたが、2時間もお馬さんの背中に揺られてお散歩したら、後半はとってもリラックスして眠くなったほどです。
ゆったりとリラックスには2時間コースはおすすめです。

PS:翌日の筋肉痛はたいしてありませんでした。

I participated alone. In the morning, I had a doll pineapple, and for lunch, I enjoyed a recommended shrimp plate lunch from the guide in Haleiwa. It was very delicious. The horseback riding was a lot of fun, enhanced by the beauty of Turtle Bay. The horses were well-trained, and it felt more like being carried by the horse rather than riding it. Even for first-timers, as long as you hold the reins properly, you'll be fine. The horses follow the guide's instructions, and the scenery was so beautiful that time flew by. On the way back, I observed sea turtles at the beach, which was very soothing.

I booked this tour without pickup since I drove around the island with a rental car. One hour was just right. Riding the horse was refreshing, and I was satisfied with the view, including the Chinese hats.

I gave it 4 stars because the instructor was kind and friendly, but it could have been more fun with some conversation or singing to liven things up. Just riding the horse in a monotonous way can get a bit boring. There was no pressure to buy photos, and it was a gentlemanly ranch. I recommend it.

Since I was traveling alone, I participated with safety in mind. The timing was also very organized, so I could join without any worries. If I had to say something negative, it would be that there wasn't enough time. Next time, I want to go to Kailua.

In the town of North Shore, I didn't have much time for sightseeing, but I was able to enjoy delicious garlic shrimp and Matsumoto Shave Ice, recommended by our guide. As a beginner in horseback riding, I had some anxiety, but it was fun to appreciate the beautiful seaside scenery from the unique perspective of being on a horse's back. The horse seemed to be hungry and didn't always listen to me, which made it a bit challenging, but aside from nibbling on grass, it walked along the course without me needing to pull on the reins, making horseback riding surprisingly easy. I was disappointed that I couldn't see any sea turtles from the beach, but since I had some extra time, our guide took us to a popular coffee stand where I enjoyed a tasting, which made me feel like I got a little bonus.

This was my third time in Hawaii, and my first horseback riding experience! Initially, I was considering horseback riding at Kualoa, but I chose this place because I wanted to try the authentic garlic shrimp! As a result, I was thrilled to ride in the best location! I also spent about 30 minutes at the Dole Plantation. It was nice that it was not crowded since it was right after opening.
After that, I had free time on the North Shore. I think the timing was just right for enjoying the garlic chicken, visiting the original Kua 'Aina, and shopping.
Later, after visiting a few beaches to see sea turtles, I rejoined the horseback riding group and headed to Waikiki.
I felt that being able to sleep in the car on the way back was something you can only do on a tour.
The guide/driver had a very calm tone, which was nice.
Since it was hard to hear the name, I thought it would have been even better if there were name tags in the car.
I would like to participate again.

I slowly rode while looking at Turtle Bay. It felt so nice. The horses were calm and very gentle. I'm sorry for being a heavy lady. It was a very enjoyable and delightful horseback riding experience in Hawaii. They guided us to the shrimp lunch early, so we could eat right away without waiting. It was delicious!

We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon, and it was our first time trying horseback riding. I had always wanted to try riding, but I was hesitant to jump into multiple activities for several hours, so I booked just a one-hour horseback riding course.

One of my biggest concerns for this honeymoon was that we chose a course at Kualoa Ranch, which is quite far from Waikiki, and it didn't include transportation, so I wasn't sure how to get there. For those in the same situation, here are some tips:

1. Take the number 55 bus, which runs once an hour from Ala Moana Center. (You can check the bus schedule using the DaBus app.)
2. Get off at KAMEHAMEHA HWY + OPP KUALOA RANCH. (There are several bus stops with KUALOA in the name, so be careful not to get off at the wrong one.)
3. Right in front of you as you get off is the entrance to Kualoa Ranch.

For the return trip, there is a bus stop on the opposite side of the road, so I recommend taking the bus back to Ala Moana Center. It took just a little over an hour by bus from Ala Moana Center.

Finally, when it was time for horseback riding, the horses were prepared for the women first. As my wife got on her horse and waited, her horse was already a bit restless. When I got on my horse next to hers, it seemed that our horses didn't get along and started to fight, which scared my wife and almost made her want to quit. However, after changing her horse, we were able to set off.

１．アラモアナ・センターから１時間に１本ペースで出ている55番バスに乗ります。

２．KAMEHAMEHA HWY+OPP KUALOA RANCH で降ります。
　　（手前にKUALOAと付くバス停が何個かあるのでお間違えなく）
３．降りてすぐ目の前にクアロア牧場の入口があります。
帰りも反対車線の所にバス停があるので、そこから乗ってアラモアナ・センターまで帰るのが良いと思います。（バスでアラモアナ・センターから１時間ちょっとでした）

いよいよ乗馬となってまずは、女性から先にお馬さんが用意されて案内されていきました。
嫁さんの馬も用意されて乗っかり待っていると、その状態から既にお馬さんが少し暴れていて、私もお馬さんに乗り隣に着いたら、今度は私の馬と嫁さんの馬の相性が合わないらしく喧嘩しだしてしまい、嫁さんが怖がりリタイアしかけましたが、嫁さんのお馬さんを変更してもらいどうにか出発できました。

その後私のお馬さんも嫁さんのお馬さんもおとなしく１時間の乗馬を楽しむことが出来ました。
（嫁さんは緊張しすぎて景色を楽しむまではいけなかったようですが。。。）
私も乗馬に十分慣れてきたところで１時間の乗馬が終わってしまったので、出来たら９０分とかのコースがあったらよかったです。

このクアロア牧場自体がとても綺麗な場所で気持ち良い場所だったので、今度は乗馬以外のものもトライしてみたいと思います。
