We participated as a family of five. It was our first time horseback riding, but we enjoyed a slow walk along the coast on horseback and even spotted some sea turtles swimming occasionally. The horses were very gentle and cute, and everyone became a fan of horses. Although we had limited time, we were able to stop by places like Dole Plantation and Haleiwa, making for a very fulfilling day. Our guide, Kaz, was easy to understand. Thank you very much.

The activities themselves and the staff were good, but the shuttle tour was quite stressful.

First, the meeting time was 7:45, but the car did not arrive. There were other Westerners at the meeting point, and we were all waiting together, confirming that the shuttle had not come. At 8:05, one shuttle arrived. I felt relieved and tried to get on with others, but our names were not on the list. When I asked the driver, he said another car would come, so we had to wait... We had already been waiting for 20 minutes, and we were the only Japanese left behind. I started to worry whether our reservation was confirmed.

Even at 8:15, the car had not come. It was getting too late, so I left my companions and ran to the hotel front desk to make a call. However, I was told that they were delayed due to traffic and to wait another 10 minutes, so I ran back to the meeting point.

At 8:30, even after waiting more than the 10 minutes they mentioned, the car still had not arrived. I started to feel like canceling. For now, I ran back to the hotel front desk and called again. I was told it would come soon, so I ran back to the meeting point. Standing outside for so long made me anxious and angry, and I was getting tired.

At 8:40, the shuttle finally arrived. Since most of the passengers were Japanese, it seemed to be a car that gathered Japanese tour participants. Later, I found out that others had also been waiting without knowing what was going on.

Inside the car, the driver apologized for the delay, but since it was in English, I couldn't fully understand the reasons. We arrived at the destination safely. The activity itself was 20 minutes late, but I was in a group with other Japanese participants, and the staff were fun, plus the scenery was great, so it turned out to be a wonderful time.

Around 13:00, the activity ended. We collected our belongings and selected photos, but since we hadn’t been informed about the return meeting time, we just waited. At 13:30, since it was hot outside, the driver kindly let us into the car. I appreciated that.

However, while all the Japanese participants who did the activity got on, we had to wait because the members from the outbound shuttle were not all present. At 14:15, the remaining person arrived, apologizing as they got on. We departed, but I had expected to be back in Waikiki by 14:30, which messed up my plans for the day. I thought if they had informed us of the return meeting time, we wouldn’t have been delayed this much.

Around 15:30, we returned to the hotel in Waikiki.

As I mentioned, I cannot trust the shuttle timing at all. Additionally, all communication is in English, and using a mobile phone abroad is difficult, which made me very anxious and stressed. The staff were all nice, and the activity was enjoyable, but it seems that no one is managing or taking responsibility for the schedule and timing of the optional tour with shuttle service. In this situation, I cannot recommend it to others, and I think improvements are necessary, so I will give it one star.

8:30、言われた10分以上待っても車が来ない。キャンセルしたくなってきます。とりあえずもう一度ホテルのフロントに走り、再度電話します。すぐ来ると言われ、また集合場所に走って戻ります。ずっと外で立ちっぱなしでいることもあり、不安と怒りで疲れます。
8:40、やっと送迎車到着。大半が日本人だったので、日本人のツアー客を集めた車のようです。後で聞いてみると、他の方もよく分からずずっと待っていた様子。
車の中で、運転手が遅れたことを謝っていましたが、英語なので理由等はよくわかりませんでした。
無事に現地到着。アクティビティ自体は20分遅れでしたが、他の日本人の方と一緒のグループでしたし、スタッフさんも楽しい方で、景色も良く最高の時間でした。
13:00頃アクティビティが終了。荷物を回収したり、写真を選びますが、帰りの集合等は聞いていないためそのまま待ちます。
13:30、外が暑いため、運転手さんが気を利かせて、車の中に入れてくれました。これはありがたかったです。
しかし、一緒にアクティビティをしていた日本人は全員乗り込みましたが、行きの送迎車のメンバーが揃っていないため、この状態で待ちます。
14:15、まだ来ていなかった方が謝りながら乗車。出発しましたが、14:30にはワイキキに戻れると思っていたため、当日の予定が狂います。最初に帰りの集合時間等を知らせておけばこんなに遅れなかったのでは？と思いました。
15:30頃、ワイキキのホテルに帰着。

以上のとおり、送迎については時間が全く信用できません。また、やりとりは全て英語になりますし、海外では携帯も使いづらいため、とても不安で、ストレスが溜まりました。
スタッフは皆さん良い方でしたし、アクティビティも楽しかったですが、送迎付きのオプショナルツアー記載の日程や時間については、誰も管理されてないし、責任もないのだと思います。
この状態では他の人におすすめはできないのと、改善した方が良いと思うので、星は1つにします。

My mother and I signed up for a seaside horseback riding course. It was our first horseback riding experience, but the local staff kindly helped us with how to ride and stop. Riding while looking at the sea was truly a wonderful feeling.

Unfortunately, after arriving at the Dole Plantation, which was supposed to be just a quick stop, we were told by the tour guide that there was a mistake and they had forgotten to bring their license, which would take time to retrieve from the office. As a result, our stay was extended by over an hour. Since this is a common spot for other tours, I had been there before and ended up with nothing to do, feeling quite bored. Additionally, the tour guide's attitude was lacking sincerity, saying things like, "This is quite rare, you know," which honestly made me feel anxious about whether it was safe to follow this person.

The horseback riding itself was a lovely experience, so next time I participate, I would prefer to join a different tour company if there is an option.

I think I could have enjoyed the tour more if the guide had been better. As others have mentioned, it was disappointing to have Kaz as our guide.

① Dole Plantation

I arrived 10 minutes before opening. This meant that the actual time I had to enjoy Dole Plantation was only 20 minutes, which was unsatisfactory. I quenched my thirst with very delicious pineapple juice and browsed for souvenirs. I wished I had a bit more time to explore the garden.

② Strolling through Haleiwa Town on the North Shore and having brunch with garlic shrimp

I ate at a Japanese-owned restaurant recommended by the guide. (It was emphasized multiple times that they opened early for this tour.) Perhaps because of that, while it was tasty, it was lighter than I expected. Personally, I would have liked a bit more punch. (I think enjoying local flavors is one of the joys of traveling.) The careful preparation of the shells and the shrimp's digestive tract left a good impression. Strolling through the colorful streets was fun, but again, excluding meal time, the stay was only about 30 minutes! There isn't much time to leisurely check out interesting shops, so it might be good to set a purpose in advance.

③ The horseback riding by the seaside, which I was looking forward to the most!!!

All the horses were cute and smart, and it was truly healing. They are well-trained, so I think beginners can experience it with confidence. I wanted to spend more time interacting with the horses!

④ On the way back, I saw sea turtles from the car window.

⑤ We stopped in Haleiwa to pick up participants from other courses and for a restroom break, which concluded the tour.

While the places visited and experiences were excellent, I realized that the presence of the guide significantly changed my level of satisfaction.

This time, the guide, Kaz, was basically high-handed and had a scary tone. Listening to his interactions with other participants, he treated them in a condescending manner, which made those around him uncomfortable.

The information he provided about Hawaii's history and buildings during the journey was interesting, but his unique way of speaking combined with issues with the audio microphone made it hard to absorb.

Additionally, he was very strict about the meeting times. I understand it was to avoid traffic, but it felt more like he was rushing participants to avoid affecting his own working hours rather than for the sake of the participants or to keep the tour schedule.

カラフルな街並みを散策するのは楽しいが、ここでも食事時間を除くと滞在時間が30分あるかないか！？
気になるお店をゆっくり見ている暇はないので、事前に目的を定めておくといいかもしれません。


③一番楽しみにしていた海辺での乗馬！！！

どの馬も可愛くてかしこくて、本当に癒されました。
よく調教されているので初心者の方でも安心して体験できると思います。
もっと長い時間馬と触れ合っていたかった！

④帰路につく途中、車窓からウミガメを見る

⑤他コースの方をピックアップ＆トイレ休憩のためハレイワに寄り終了


訪問先・体験内容は申し分ないのですが、ガイドさんの存在ですごく満足度が変わってくることを実感しました。

今回のガイド、カズさんは基本的に高圧的で口調がコワイです。
他の参加者さんとのやり取りを聞いていても、バカにしたようなあしらうような対応をされていて、周りが不快に思う。

道中教えてくださるハワイの歴史や建物案内等は興味深い内容なのですが、独特なしゃべり方と音声マイクの不具合が相まって、入ってこない。

そして、集合時間にはすごく厳しくせっつかれます。
渋滞を避けるためなのはわかりますが、「参加者のため」「ツアー予定時刻を守るため」というよりも、ガイドさんご自身の勤務時間に影響のないよう、参加者を急かしているような印象を持ちました。

Right after jumping out of the Cessna, I was really scared, but the beautiful scenery of Hawaii spread out before me made me forget my fear. I'm really glad I took on this challenge.

Fantastic Luau with perks

The luau itself was amazing. My family and I enjoyed participating in the pre show activities while learning about true polynesian culture and traditions. It's a smaller luau with only about 200 guests but with the smaller number of patrons you really get to interact and learn from everyone involved.
The host for the activities, Uncle Bob, has a great sense of humor as do the men that do the "cooking" and food prep demonstrations. These men are no joke, they even climbed up the coconut trees. They teach you about a traditional tribe welcoming and uses the guests to act as the tribes while explaining the rituals associated with welcoming guests to their community.
Not a huge selection of foods to sample but everything there was delicious. Kalua pork, teriyaki chicken, macaroni salad, green salad with macadamia nuts, rice, rolls, chantilly cake from Teds Bakery and a coconut type of jello dessert.
The family band that played music during dinner was Amazing. Those kids can really sing! The dancing was very traditional, not just girls in coconut bras and hula skirts, but real polynesian dancing showcasing dances from a variety of the polynesian islands. I was a VIP guest and we were right at eye level with the stage but it looked like most people would have quite a good view of the stage. We also got to go to the buffet first and got great souvenirs. My husband and I got hand fans, my son got a wooden Maui-type hook necklace and my daughter got a wood beaded bracelet that said Hawaii with hibiscus flowers printed on it. After dinner and show on your way out you were able to speak more with the staff and dancers and take pictures with them.
If it was your birthday we all sang happy birthday and you got an extra piece of cake, if it was your anniversary or honeymoon they brought you onstage for a slow dance and gave you a nut lei.
All this plus you get entry into the Waimea valley where you can swim in a waterfall and see beautiful trees and foliage!

During free fall, it felt more like flying than falling, and it was amazing. With a photographer, you can get beautiful shots during free fall, but they can't take photos while the parachute is deployed. With an instructor, they can take photos until the very end, so I felt there are pros and cons to both options.

Jumping from a Cessna at an altitude higher than the clouds!

I thought it would be a straight free fall, but I was instructed to hold hands with the instructor and descend while spinning, and even got to steer after the parachute opened... I came down sideways and while rotating. It was quite thrilling.

My wife, perhaps a bit nervous, enjoyed the descent while listening to the explanations of the scenery and taking in the breathtaking views. She mentioned it was even more fun than she expected.

I will definitely repeat this experience on my next visit.

P.S. The ground guide, Masa, is also fun and kind. I hope to see him again.

まっすぐの自由落下かと思いきや、
インストラクターさんに手を組まされて回転しながらの降下や、パラシュートが開いてからの操縦までさせてもらい…横向きになったり回転しながら降下してきました。
なかなかのスリルでした。

…妻は多少ビビりながらだったためか、景色の説明を聞きながら、絶景を楽しみながら降下したらしいのですが。
思っていた以上に楽しかった、と話していました。

次回も訪れたら必ずリピートします。

Worth it!

The Toa Luau was a great first luau for our family (30 to 60 year olds). Waimea Valley itself is beautiful; definitely come at least 2 hours early to be able to walk to the waterfall and enjoy the scenery. The pre-luau activities like weaving grass head bands, husking coconuts etc were fun. The show itself was fantastic too - they performed authentic ceremonies and dances from different Polynesian islands. The host was hilarious! Only slight downside was the food was only mediocre. We are all vegetarian and our main entree was bland quinoa; but we were happy there was even a vegetarian option (you have to request ahead of time though). Overall this luau is definitely worth it and we will recommend it to all of our family and friends!!

The garlic shrimp at Cameron's, recommended by our guide in Haleiwa, was delicious. It was a shame that our stay in Haleiwa was only about an hour due to horseback riding being scheduled afterward, leaving us no time to explore. It seems our time in Haleiwa was shortened because of expected traffic on that weekend.

The horseback riding at Turtle Bay by the sea was very nice. The horse I rode was a bit of a glutton and kept trying to eat grass during the ride, so I had to scold him multiple times to get back on course, which left my arms sore. It turned into a fun memory! Next time, I think I’ll want to explore Haleiwa more leisurely, so I might plan horseback riding for another day.

ハレイワではガイドさんのおススメキャメロンのガーリックシュリンプ美味しかったです。
乗馬がその後の予定だったのでハレイワでの滞在が1時間程で散策する時間が無かったのが残念です。その日は週末のせいか渋滞が予想されたのでハレイワ滞在時間が短縮された様です。
乗馬はタートルベイの海辺でとても良かったです。私が乗った馬は食いしん坊で乗馬中に何度も草を食べに行ってしまい何度も馬を叱ってコースに戻るようにしたので腕が筋肉痛になりまた。笑笑〜楽しい思い出になりました。
次回はゆっくりハレイワを散策したいので乗馬は別の日にしよーかなぁ〜と思ってます。

It was one of the most amazing times my family has had. The atv ride to the top was fun and then all the lines had the most beautiful views. Joey Riley, and Reese where great guides they were very informed about the ranch we were on and made all of us comfortable enough to go upside down but be end of the day. Would definitely do again.

Our guide Keola was the best. He provided us with valuable information about the eco system, history about the North Shore and Hawai’i and safety information during the hike.

The area is absolutely stunning. If you want to do something away from the commercial and touristy stuff in Waikiki this is a great way to see Hawai’i in all its beauty.

I would ensure you wear good hiking shoes or trail running shoes. Also this hike is not a leisure walk. You will earn your lunch.

The guides were great - took very good care of us, kept us at a great pace, very knowledgeable of the land and horses. The scenery was fantastic - walked along the shoreline of the beach. The horses were well-behaved - easy to direct, very sweet! Two adults, three middle school children who had never ridden before - very family-friendly...we had a great time!

It was truly the best tour! During the journey to and from the destination, our Japanese driver and guide shared various information about Hawaii. The stories were easy to understand and interesting, and his calm tone made it very easy to listen to. After arriving in Haleiwa Town, he kindly provided detailed information about recommended shops and restaurants while we slowly drove through the area, which I really appreciated. I have visited Hawaii many times, but I learned a lot of things I didn't know before, and I had a truly fulfilling day. I was very satisfied with my choice of this tour and returned home happy. I highly recommend it. Thank you to our tour guide!

This tour is highly recommended! You can taste Hawaii's specialties, enjoy nature, and watch turtles. Even my father, who is over 60, was able to enjoy it without any difficulty. If you come to Hawaii, I definitely want everyone to experience this!

First, at the Dole Plantation, you can enjoy freshly squeezed pineapple juice for just $2.50! It's a great deal, and you can savor the true flavor of pineapple without any additives, so I absolutely recommend it!

Next, the horseback riding takes you through a forest with ups and downs, making the one-hour ride completely engaging! The horses are all thoroughbreds and very stable, so it's reassuring, and it's kind of cute when they occasionally get bored and start munching on grass (*^-^*). The staff were also very cute and kind!

After that, our guide took us to a hidden gem for garlic shrimp that locals use, and we enjoyed incredibly plump and delicious shrimp! Apparently, the garlic shrimp from the North Shore is made from fresh shrimp, making it even tastier♪

Above all, the highlight of this tour is the guide!

The amount of knowledge is amazing!! And they are entertaining! They share all sorts of interesting stories about Hawaii's history, recent events, and trendy shops, so you won't get bored during the travel time! Also, if you ask, "Are there places like this nearby?" they will guide you by car if it's close, which was very helpful☆

The guide and this route were both fantastic, so I definitely want to participate again when I go to Hawaii! (*^▽^*)

どうやらノースショアのガーリックシュリンプは生の海老から作られているのでより美味しいらしいです♪

なんといってもこのツアーの一押しは、『ガイドさん』です！

知識量がすごい！！そしておもしろい！ハワイの歴史や最近の話、流行りのお店などありとあらゆる話を面白おかしく案内してくれるので、移動中も本当に飽きないです！
また、『こうゆうところはありますか？』と聞くと近場であれば車で案内して下さったりもするので、とても助かりました☆

ガイドさんもこのルートもとてもよかったので、ハワイに行くときはまたぜひ参加したいです！(*^▽^*)

I was planning to take a bus near H&M and was waiting for its arrival. It didn't come for 5 minutes, but it eventually arrived, and I boarded. After about 30 to 40 minutes of bouncing on the bus, we arrived at the airport. Inside the bus, we watched an instructional video and filled out a contract. I was a bit surprised by the contents of the contract.

Upon arriving at the airport, a woman asked if we wanted to take photos or videos. After that, we checked our luggage and followed the instructions from the staff. After receiving the explanation, we waited about 5 minutes for the Cessna to arrive. I was impressed by the speedy response here as well.

The Cessna arrived, and we boarded directly. We flew for about 10 minutes, reaching an altitude of around 4,200 meters, and then we jumped out one after another. I was surprised at how quick it felt.

The moment of jumping was very scary, but once in the air, the strong wind made it feel less terrifying, almost like being on a roller coaster, and I was desperately falling. The change in air pressure caused pain in my ears and made it hard to breathe. As the parachute opened and we descended to the ground, it spun around a bit, giving a floating sensation similar to being on a roller coaster, which was fun.

It seems there are individual differences, as some people may feel nauseous. Even though I'm not a fan of roller coasters, I found skydiving enjoyable, so I definitely recommend giving it a try!

個人差はあるようですが、吐き気を催す方も中にはいらっしゃるみたいです

ジェットコースターが苦手なのにスカイダイビングは楽しかったので是非やってみる事をオススメします

I signed up for the 9 o'clock session, but the meeting time was at 4:30. From there, we visited several hotels for pickups and then headed to the airport with about an hour's drive. Eating and drinking were prohibited in the car, so I woke up early and had a light breakfast before heading out. We watched a 10-minute video about safety precautions in the car and filled out liability forms, then I dozed off. In America, the legal system is quite detailed, and the forms had a lot of information.

Once we arrived at the airport, the staff checked our documents and collected our passports (copies are acceptable). The elderly staff member's explanations were a bit unclear; for instance, they didn’t mention that there were coin lockers available, and they told us not to use the lockers because they would watch our bags, but they didn’t really keep an eye on them... so I think it’s better to act with personal responsibility. The lockers can be used with four 25-cent coins. If you want to take photos with your iPhone or similar, it’s better not to put it in the locker; I left mine on the table in the waiting area during the skydiving.

About eight groups board the plane at a time, so there is a wait. There was a food truck, so we could have light snacks and drinks while waiting. When it was my turn, I got fitted with a harness and practiced how to jump with my assigned instructor. All the instructors were very energetic and friendly! 順番が来たらハーネスをつけてもらい、自分の担当のインストラクターの方と飛び方の練習をします。どのインストラクターの方もテンションが高めで感じのよい方達です！指示は簡単な日本語でしてくれますが、基本会話は英語になります。
そしていよいよテイクオフ！10分ほどかけて高度4200メートルまで上がります。海がとっても綺麗でワイキキやダイヤモンドヘッドまで見渡せます！そこからはあっという間！ためらう間も無く順番に飛んで（落ちて？）行きます！フリーフォール中の感覚は今までにない感覚。ふわっと感はなくって冷たい風の中をくぐり抜けている感じ。恐怖感は不思議とない！それよりもパラシュートが開いてからの方が怖かった・・・5分ほど空中を飛んでから着陸。練習通りにできました！
証明書をいただいておしまいです。インストラクターの方にチップを入れる袋を渡されるので20ドル〜を入れて箱に入れておきます。
迎えの車が来るまで小一時間待ち、11時過ぎにはワイキキに戻りました。
待っている時間がちょこちょこあるのでクッキーみたいな軽食を持っていくといいと思います。
今までに味わったことのない感覚でとても楽しかったです！一生に一度は体験してみるといいと思います！

I took an Uber to get there.
From the road, I could see a green-roofed waiting area with several chairs and a table that had a simple guide in Japanese on how to ride.
There were only me and my daughter, a white man, and a cute girl who guided us, making a total of three people.
We enjoyed a leisurely horseback ride through the fields and North Shore.
Sometimes the horse would stop to eat grass or urinate, which was also fun.
We thoroughly enjoyed 90 minutes on the North Shore.
If you're expecting a fast-paced ride, it might feel a bit lacking, but if you want to relax and enjoy, it's perfect.
Since there were no other Japanese people in the later group, it felt very Hawaiian.
I was a bit anxious because the Uber driver who brought us said it would be difficult to get an Uber back, but I was able to ride after waiting for 20 minutes.
I think it's a bit far from Waikiki, but I highly recommend this horseback riding experience.

I like roller coasters and have experienced bungee jumping, so I thought I had a good tolerance for thrills, floating sensations, and heights. However, skydiving felt more like a constant state of motion sickness. As soon as I jumped, I was hit by an intense wind that made it hard to breathe, and my contact lenses flew away. Once the parachute opened, it felt like being spun around in a coffee cup at an amusement park, and I just wanted to come down quickly.

Additionally, the tour bus to the airport was shared with others. The bus had a capacity of about 20 people, and several buses arrived at the same time. This meant that with the foreigners included, there were about 60 to 80 people receiving explanations, but the plane that actually took off had only 8 seats, resulting in a significant wait time.

I’m not sure if the order for boarding the plane was random, but we left the hotel at 5:00 AM and arrived at the site by 6:30 AM, yet we didn’t get to skydive until 9:00 AM. We left the airport at 11:00 AM and got back to the hotel just after 12:00 PM.

Since some people can feel nauseous during skydiving, we weren’t allowed to eat anything in the morning until after the jump. Even after we finished, there was nothing nearby in the isolated airport area, just one truck with a food stall. It was so crowded that I couldn’t even buy a drink, so I recommend bringing your own water.

I personally don’t want to skydive again, but my husband, who doesn’t get motion sickness, said he had fun and would like to do it again, so it might depend on the person.

For those who want to create lasting memories, I highly recommend adding the photo option, even though it’s a bit pricey.

飛行機に乗せてもらえる順番はランダムなのか、5時にホテルを出発し現地には6時半には着きましたがスカイダイビングできたのが9時です。帰宅できたのは11時に飛行場を出発して12時すぎのホテル着でした。

スカイダイビングは気分が悪くなる人もいるので吐いてしまうといけないからと朝は飛び終わるまで何も食べれません。飛び終わってからも隔離された飛行場内では近くに何もなくトラックが一台で屋台を出しているだけでした。
混雑して飲み物さえ買えないので事前にお水などは持っていくことをお勧めします。

私は二度とスカイダイビングをしたいとは思いませんが、主人は気分が悪くならないタイプだったので、楽しかった！またしたい！と言っていましたので、人によるのかもしれませんが…

むた思い出に残したい方は少し高い金額ですが絶対に写真撮影はオプションでつけることをお勧めします。
