I thought it might be tough due to my age, but my initial anxiety faded quickly, and I had a great time for a full two hours. The guide spoke English, so there were parts where I didn't fully understand the discussions about movie filming. The buggy itself requires quite a bit of use of the shoulder and back muscles, as well as the right thumb for the accelerator. We went on a course that can only be experienced in a buggy, and while we weren't going super fast, there was just the right amount of thrill, making it a great memory. They lend you goggles, but your face and hands will get covered in dust. I recommend bringing a backpack or something that leaves your hands free for your belongings.

年齢的に厳しいかなとも思ったのですが、不安だったのは最初だけで、２時間たっぷり楽しめました。ガイドさんは英語なので、ところどころで映画撮影の話をされた時には、わからないことも多かったです。バギー自体は、肩と背中の筋肉と、アクセルである右の親指を結構使います。バギーでしか味わえないようなコースを最後に回ったり、そんなにスピードを出しているわけではないけれど適度なスリルもあっていい思い出になりました。ゴーグルを貸してくれますが、顔や手は土ぼこりで真っ黒になります。荷物はリュックなと手のあくものがおすすめ。

Second visit to Kualoa Ranch!
Last time I did horseback riding and a jeep tour, so this time I wanted to enjoy more horseback riding and signed up for a two-hour session!
I took a bus transfer to get to Kualoa Ranch. (You can also go by yourself! It takes about 1.5 hours, so if you have the early tour, it’s risky if you miss the bus.)
We arrived a bit early, so we took photos of the horses and the mountains to make use of our time.
You can store your valuables in a coin locker for $5 (you get $3 back).
After watching a simple Japanese video, it was time for horseback riding!
They seem to select a horse that suits each person.
The horses are very smart and didn’t act up at all.
It might get a bit boring towards the end, but I felt that one hour wasn’t enough, so I was satisfied.
We also saw places used for movie filming, but since the explanations were in English, I couldn’t understand anything at all. We were at the back, so when they explained at the front, we couldn’t hear anything...
There is a guide at the back too, but there weren’t any explanations like that.

They took a photo of me and my friend with my camera (just once though).
By the way, you can buy a photo of yourself on the horse for $15.

Riding through the forest while looking at the sea and mountains was very enjoyable.

クアロア牧場へはバスを乗り継ぎ、行きました。（自力でも行けます！！1.5hぐらいかかるので、朝一のツアーだと、バスを逃したら危険です。）
私たちは早めに着いてしまったので、馬の写真や山の写真を撮り、時間を活用していました。
貴重品は5ドルでコインロッカーに預けることが出来ます！（3ドルバックされます）
簡単な日本語のビデオを見て、いざ乗馬！
おそらくその人に合った馬をセレクトされています。
馬もとても賢く、暴れることもありませんでした。
ちょっと後半は飽きるかもしれませんが、1時間では物足りないと感じたので満足です。
映画の撮影に使われた場所なども見ますが、英語での説明につき、まったく理解出来ませんでした。そもそも、私たちは後ろのほうにいたので、先頭で説明されるとまったく聞こえず、、、
後ろにもガイドはいますが、とくにそういった説明はありません。

持参したカメラで友達と写真も撮ってくれました。（一回だけだけど）
ちなみに15ドルで自分が馬に乗った写真を買うことも出来ます。

林の中を進み、海や山を眺めながらの乗馬はとても楽しかったです。

The instruction was quick and they send you off on your own on a very quick test course. Ive never rode ATVs before and was very nervous but after a while I got used to it. We rode in a line there were 6 of us total including in the guide. I was starting to get tired (it was 85 degrees out) and hands were feeling sore I kept wondering when we were going to stop for a break. We eventually did and the views were breathtaking. The guide let us take some pictures. I was expecting the guide to stop at certain locations and tell us which movies were filmed where, but he barely talked. He just said "Yeah 50 first dates was filmed on the other side of this mountain, so was Jurassic Park.." I already knew that before this "tour" so I didn't learn anything new :( Overall the ride was fun I just expected more.

Tip: They offer you shower caps before you put on the helmet and please do get it!! The helmets smell so bad.

It was my first time riding horses, and I felt scared and worried when I saw so many horses, but my anxiety disappeared once I got on. They were very cute and smart horses that guided me well. I was also impressed by the magnificent scenery! However, two hours might be a bit long. I got a little sleepy along the way.

乗馬は初めてで、沢山の馬を目の当たりにしたとき怖くなり、心配になりましたが乗った時には不安もなくなりました。とても可愛く利口な馬たちで誘導してくれます。壮大な景色にも感激しました〜

It was a wonderful way to see the beautiful scenery of the island and learn some interesting history of the area. The horses were great even in the windy weather and our guides friendly and helpful. This is my second time participating. My first experience was riding a horse. The horses at Kualoa are very gentle, and since the ride is slow, it wasn't as scary as I had thought. I was so impressed by the magnificent scenery of the Kualoa mountains that I decided to try again. Last time, I took the two-hour course starting at 3:30 PM, and this time I chose the two-hour course starting at 11:45 AM.

I felt that the course starting at noon had less space for moving around the ranch and a shorter riding time compared to last time. I was wondering, "Did we go to that place last time? Are we turning back here?" The staff was also quiet and didn't engage in much conversation, which made communication minimal. Last time, there were mostly Western students, so it was a cheerful and very enjoyable ride. This time, there were mostly Japanese people, including families and elderly individuals, which might have influenced the staff's approach, but it was quite disappointing. The scenery is truly amazing. I recommend Kualoa for those who are riding horses for the first time.

今回で2回目の参加です。前回乗馬初体験でした。クアロアの馬はとても大人しいですし、ゆっくりライドするので、思っていたほど怖くなかったです。クアロアの山々の雄大な景色に感動したので、再挑戦しました。前回は２時間コースの最終回１５：３０からのコース、今回は2時間コースの11：４５からのコースにしました。
今回のお昼スタートのコースは前回に比べ、牧場内の移動が狭く乗馬時間が短いと感じました。前回はあそこの場所まで行ったよね？ここで引き返すの？と・・・。スタッフも無口でおしゃべりもせず、あまりコミニケーション取ってきませんでした。前回は欧米人の学生達ばかりだったので、陽気でとても楽しいライドだったのですが。今回は日本人ばかりで家族連れやご年配の方が多かったので、そのような対応になったのかもしれませんが、とても残念でした。景色は本当に最高です。初めての乗馬される方はクアロアをおすすめします。

My girlfriend and I had such a wonderful time here at Kualoa Ranch. The horses were very well trained, tamed, and talented. This was our first time getting up on horses, and man I looked like Zorro. My girlfriend has such a strong, muscular, and smart horse, and luckily for here his name was Romeo. My horse was named Shay and he was just like me, always hungry. He stopped every ten minutes to eat grass, but I had to let him do it secretively. We had great views of the ocean and the mountain range of Kualoa Ranch, however getting pictures will be hard because you will need to make sure you are 100% focused and attentive of your horse and for your own personal safety. Our guide was great and she even took a couple pictures for me before our tour started. We had an excellent time and would recommend this to anyone.

From start to finish they picked us up promptly, got us checked in at the ranch, gave a quick lesson guide, and off we went and I do love an active tour on atvs! Nice tour guides and staff. go for the 2 hr tour

The 1 hr was not what I expected.. we barely got on the horses and came back.. at most we have been 20-25 min on the horse. Then we took the 2 hr ride which was quite different and definitely worth it!
They said that the time it takes to get us on the horses is included in this "x hour" ride which it doesn't seem fair to me.. for a large group (12-15 people) it does take 15-20 min to get us all on the horses and get started.. so 25 min left for riding for the 1 hr ride(??).. hmm.. kind of expensive ride..

My 17-year-old grandson and his girlfriend rode the ATV's and very much enjoyed it. I felt the equipment could have been in better maintained condition as well as the helmet selection was a bit limited. I would also suggest that the ranch consider offering the side-by-side UTV's as an alternative as they drive more like a car for those who might not be comfortable on an ATV and can carry a second passenger.

I got on the buggy without much expectation, but it was exhilarating to race across the vast ranch at such high speed!

Choosing 2 hours instead of 1 hour was the right decision! Even 2 hours felt too short because it was so much fun.

It's not cheap, but it's worth the experience.

It was the most enjoyable part of my 5-day stay.

By the way, your clothes won't get too dirty, but the dust is intense, so your face will get dirty.

Perhaps because the ranch staff had worked in the rain that morning, some of them had a slightly arrogant attitude from a Japanese perspective, but most were kind and helpful. The terrain in which you ride through is beautiful, it takes your breath away. We learned the history of the ranch and about what has taken place there over the years. It felt more like a private beach connected to the mainland rather than an island. Unfortunately, due to the bad weather, I couldn't go into the sea... I'll try again for a rematch.

Best Activity I did in Hawaii

I was a bit iffy about doing tour since the max speed was 5-8, but we had the best tour guide that let us go max speed and go off roading. We got to see so much of the movie sets and the place was so beautiful and memorizing I never wanted to leave. You definitely need the 2 hour tour, any shorter you will regret for sure.

My husband and I enjoy horseback riding, and we are currently enjoying British-style riding in Japan. Therefore, we approached the challenge of Western-style riding with some confidence. Horses from any country are adorable and soothing. The horses in Hawaii were very gentle and resilient. The two-hour course provided a sufficient horseback riding experience. It was surprising to think that someone with no riding experience could manage such a long ride. Even we were shaking by the time we finished. We plan to go to Hawaii again next spring, and I would like our children to experience it as well.

ATV tours aka; a terrible vacation experience

I have only reviewed one thing in my life, Space Jam the movie in 1997. I hated it.
But now I have to break my vow to never review again by reviewing this ATV tour.
Whilst Space Jam the movie had some redeemable qualities; the ATV tour did not.
Once we arrived at the ranch (aka mud farm) we observed gangs of roving cats strutting around, intimidating us into purchasing horrible scented soaps from the ugly women at the gift shop.
The actual ride itself was comparable to the holocaust and I refuse to remember the details as I'm not ready to accept that it actually happened. The dude took us to where the hit comedy "you, me and Dupree" was filmed, I think it was the part where they stood in a vacant field and nothing happened. The only thing the dude in charge watched more than the road ahead, was his watch. I think he even said he hated one of us under his breath. His only rules were that no one was allowed to have fun and that we we had to go back to his shack on the ranch to watch Skrek 2. We politely declined his offer.
The only good thing was the view; just like when Michael Jordan scored in the final seconds of Space Jam, thus saving the earth from the invading basketball aliens (?).
After the trip I drove home with the Space Jam theme song playing through the radio.
May god have mercy on us all.

I participated in a movie location tour and a jeep tour. I had no expectations for the jeep tour at all. As we climbed up roads that seemed impossible to access, we reached breathtaking viewpoints that made us gasp in awe. The beautiful gradient of the ocean and the vast scenery of the ranch were stunning. It was a moment when I felt grateful to be alive.

I had experience riding horses in Japan, but I couldn't go outside the riding area, so it wasn't satisfying. I was determined to do it in Hawaii and chose this place because it was the cheapest.

As expected, walking through the trees in such magnificent scenery was amazing! Even though we walked in a line, being able to walk so slowly in nature was the best!!!

We walked for a full hour and I was extremely satisfied!!!! I don't know when I'll be able to go next, but when I do, I will definitely ride here again!!!!

日本で乗馬の経験はありましたが、日本では場外に出ることはできず満足できるものではありませんでした。ハワイでは絶対にやると決めていて、コストも一番安かったこちらに決めました。
期待通り、壮大な景色の中、木々が生える中をぬって歩く！列になって歩くとはいえ大自然の中をこんなにゆっくりと歩けるなんて最高でした！！！
たっぷり1時間あるきましたが大満足です！！！！
次はいつ行けるかわかりませんが、次回行けた時も絶対にこちらの乗馬やります！！！！

I signed up for the 2-hour course. At first, I was worried it might be too long, but thanks to the smart horses and the lovely cowgirls, I had a wonderful experience!! Next time, I want to challenge myself with the half-day course☆

The atmosphere of Jurassic Park was amazing, and I was lucky enough to see the filming of FIVE-0, making it a truly HAPPY day.

初めは長すぎたかと不安もあったのですが､頭のいいお馬さんと可愛いカウガールの皆さんのおかげで素敵な体験が出来ました!!
次回は半日コースにチャレンジしたいです☆

ジュラシックパークの世界観はもちろんラッキーな事にFIVE-0の撮影も見られて本当にHAPPYな1日でした

I was in Hawaii a full week and did many things whilst we were there, but the ATV trip at Kualoa was my favorite. When I come back to Hawaii, I will definitely do it again. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys adventure and beauty.
